After a lousy breakfast at the Port Arthur Cafe, Fish Lips was what I needed for a late lunch. This was one of the two places that were still open after I finished Port Arthur and I got lucky. My husband and I arrived around 4pm and the Finnish owner was too kind to keep the cafe open for us. The view was excellent. The kitchen was already closed so I could only order simpler food but the salmon salad with homemade dressing was yummy. The mustard tasted fantastic. It was a simple meal but everything was well made. I will definitely swing by if I go to Port Arthur again during summer. The environment just reminds me of Europe. Would love to try the cottage next time.

While we were enjoying the honeymoon trip in Tasmania, we found this highly ranked place from google map. Just close to the Tasmania unzoo. The food are extremely nice, so do the hosts! The cafe is neat and tidy. We tried the soup and pie, which are remarkably tasty. We noticed there are some accommodations. We would definitely try it when we come back to TAS later.

By chance stop and what a great surprise. Owners are attuned, thoughtful, and creative. Add this to their food, service and space and they get a big thumbs up from us. Up close views of Little Norfolk Bay, private courtyard with sun and shade, and the tasteful small providore says heaps about how the owners think and feel about their customers and their experience. And the Christmas pudding on the menu in Jan tops the lot! |

After an extensive morning st Port Arthur lunch was essential. Ken to sample as much local cuisine as possible we came across Fish lips. Not disappointed. I had a delicious salmon omelette. Omelette cooked to perfection with a generous portion of salmon topped with Creme fraiche. Glass of Chardonnay to accompany. Lovely, friendly owner. Again another must visit. Also purchased a bottle of Honk mustard made by the owner also hand made soap by her daughter. Loving Tassie.

We stayed at Fish Lips after a hike to two of the three capes in Tasman National Park (very worthwhile!)||||Tired and sweaty we were happy to have a clean and comfortable place to stay for the night. We stayed in a little cabin with shared bathroom/kitchenette area. Extra touches such as coffee, tea, chocolates and milk were very welcome. ||||Unfortunately when we arrived (after 6pm) no-one was around and no food was available anywhere in the Tarana area. Same thing when we left the next morning at 8am.

Had a lovely little lunch on a weekday travelling through Taranna, Tasmania. The decor is very Scandinavian, loved the White painted table where were seated. The Open Sandwich on rye bread with Tasmanian smoked salmon with Dill and other herbs was beautiful. Well done, Kaarina, the Finnish owner of the property and cafe. A must for travellers to and from Port Arthur.

First off the mustard the owner makes is absolutely sublime! It's an old family recipe from Finland. I've only eaten here once despite being a local. I was disappointed with what I ordered because I don't like chicken in my salad to be cold and dry (I can't swallow it) and there wasn't much substance to the salad. I was with my mother in law who has dementia and she grumbled once outside that we wouldn't be back which she's not done with anywhere else in the area maybe she was just grumpy that day. Our other companions were quite pleased with thier orders. The service was warm and friendly.

You wouldn't know it from the street, but out the back is an awesome duck pond with cottages to stay in surrounding the pond. A further view goes out to the bay to give a double water view. The place used to be a marine park, but now is just accommodation. We stayed in Morsons hut with a full display of Morsons trips to Antarctica. Cow skin rug on the floor. Big cottage. Wooden beamed roof with a central pole. Pirate ship made of wood for kids to play in. It's a little unloved, but the kids still loved it. We discovered this place by accident, and think it needs more exposure, and maybe a more piratey name.
