"The Markets in Male The capital city of Male is often just a jumping-off point for travelers touching down at the airport before being whisked away to a five-star resort, but a walk through the low-lying city is a worthwhile way to get a taste of what everyday life is like for locals. At the center of it all is the lively fish market, and those who can get past the pungent smell will find themselves fascinated by the huge catch pulled straight out of the sea. Respite is found just a couple blocks away, where vendors set up colorful displays overflowing with bushels of bananas and other Maldivian staples, including papayas and yams sourced from nearby islands."

The best fish market that I have ever seen in my life. The fishes are huge in size. They are fresh as ever. The market is bustling with activity. There are expert fishermen who keep on clean the fish with precision and dexterity. You can find different kinds of reef fish. Some are pink and blue in colour. The fish market is a busy place with a lot of customers. It is clean and well maintained. Here you will be amazed at the size of the fish 🐠. It is a major tourist attraction if you happen to visit Male. I would definitely recommend visiting this place.

Used to go to this place with mu father when I was small. Those early days of this place was the glory days. Nowadays the operation is still running but not at the level you'd expect it to have improved throughout the years. Earlier you would get 100% fresh fish from the days catch right after it has been caught but nowadays you get frozen ones not too fresh. Still this is the best place to get raw fish in Greater Male' Area. You get fish cutting service also at the same place and is very cheap. You get a variety of fish in all sizes and forms. This is also a tourist attraction in Male' area nowadays. You can experience the hustle and bustle of capital city Male' in this area.

Came here to check out their local fish harvested. Plenty of tunas everywhere. Worth checking it out as a tourist. Nearby many attractions such a sting ray watching by the edge of the dock, visit their dry market across the road.

Absolutely True Maldivian traditional market that you should visit to know them personally. It's local and wet market so expected wet, smelly, and crowded. This is consider the place that you may enjoy the locals. Most of them speak English very well and tourist are welcome and you won't had any problem at all. They welcomes you nicely and do share what they have to offer or to show you what is Maldivian is all about. Walking distance from main jetty connected airport and the city. Easy walk tour in this place. Get your local guide to know more about it. There's the stingray point next to it that you may enjoy extraordinary view of these creatures. Cheap coconut drinks too compared with any island that you have visited. Great to do your here after your few days in isolated and super calm island stay. Worth visit.

Small local Fish market place. I always like to go and know a little about the local life style. Walking round on the island of Male you'll soon discover that's a busy island. Many many motorbikes and people are trading, going to school or chilling in the pathway. Across the fish market there's a local market. I suggest you walk through them both. It won't take you that long, 15 minuts maximum. Unless you start buying and talking to the locals which i encourage you to do! Like this review? Please let me know and click the 👍 button. Thnx!
