Fishbar Monk - Visrestaurant Haarlem

Great sea food restaurant which concentrate more on quality and refinement than the biggest prawns etc.. Dishes such as the tuna with mango were surprising complex (especially if you add the caviar) with great cooking skill. The monkfish with risotto was perfectly cooked and delicious. highly recommended

Overall a great dining experience, My tip is to get in early before it gets Super busy. Fish of the day was Turbot, 400gms and sitting pretty on display ice. Beautifully cooked and presented, lovely! But the stand-up dish for both of us was the Raw scallop - SENSATIONAL! Good wine list. Friendly staff. Nice location. Dank ja well !

I've dined a few times now at Fishbar Monk and had an overall enjoyable culinary experience. This seafood restaurant excels in delivering fresh, delicious dishes that are a treat for the taste buds. While the food was exceptional, I did find some dishes to be on the smaller side and a bit pricey for the portion sizes. The atmosphere was quite noisy, with the restaurant bustling with activity. At times, it was difficult to hold a conversation. Despite this minor drawback, the quality of the food made it well worth the visit. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure that every guest had a memorable dining experience. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions about the menu. In conclusion, Fishbar Monk is a delightful spot for seafood lovers. The noisy atmosphere and smaller, pricier dishes are small prices to pay for the outstanding food and service. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality seafood dining experience in the NL. I will definitely be returning.

Overall a good experience, but several details fell short of what one would expect from a restaurant with this image. For example, just little things, cutlery not changed between courses (from raw fish to steak), and while the service was very friendly, it lacked professionalism. The cuisine was quite good, though the portion of the softshell crab—just two tiny bashed pieces for EUR 17 (see photo)— a bit underwhelming.

We had a wonderful dinner where literally every item ordered was excellent. I strongly recommend the Tuna tartar (with the sorbet) and the fish and chips. The waiter was super friendly.

Love the atmosphere and ambiance but food could be better. We decided to try it out a second time around but to be honest I was not impressed the second time around. They need to step up their game in the kitchen. However great atmosphere.
