Fisher Theatre

The building is absolutely beautiful and the history behind it. Stopped in the dress shop also and was amazed by the gowns. We're absolutely gorgeous and took me back to a different time when life was simpler.

Watched Kinky Boots and it was amazing. We were in the upper balcony and still had great views. They do have an elevator if you can't handle the stairs. Loved the art deco ❤️ You cannot use your phone to take pictures during the play.

Jane Goodall spoke at the Fisher Theatre which was the perfect venue for her. Cozy yet large enough for the big crowd she attracts. Seats were plenty comfortable and the atmosphere is classy with plenty of beverage stations.

Watched a performance here and it was GREAT. All the staff was friendly and helpful. And the building itself is huge and absolutely gorgeous

The building known as “Detroit’s largest art object" is arguably one of the finest examples of early 1900's architecture in the city designed by Albert Kahn. It's well appointed with sculptural elements by the famed Coraddo Parducci. They provide guided tours that can be booked in advance through Pure Detroit. Well worth the price of admission!

Gorgeous theatre in downtown Detroit. We had the distinct honor and privelage of seeing a real life hero here on September 9, Jane Goodall. We are so shocked and saddened to hear of her sudden passing yesterday but she was doing what she loved & was most passionate about and with an impressive vigor right until the end. Fisher Theatre holds a special place in our hearts 💕 Thank you for the opportunity to see Jane one last time.

Went here to see the outsiders play. Absolutely phenomenal. It was great. Hostesses were amazing and everyone was friendly. 4 stars is only because I think the parking garage should be updated as well as the seats in the theater. Definitely needs some upgrades. Also there was a mouse roaming around during the play. Other than all this. Amazing. Would be back.

We had a wonderful visit when we saw Mark Twain with Richard Thomas. Best was the sound system, we had no issues hearing in the mezzanine section. All the staff were attentive and friendly. The restrooms were clean and plentiful.

I like the Fisher very much as a venue for musicals. The building is beautiful. We sat in the mezzanine and had a nice view of the stage without being obstructed. The seating could use some refurbishing, but are not too bad. I like that they have a parking lot directly in front of the venue as well as a public parking garage. Both are complimentary with theatre tickets which is a super perk unlike most venues. For the garage you have to use a QR code, but it wasn't difficult, you just need your license plate number. I plan on returning as long as I can find reasonable tickets!

I recently saw Mean Girls the musical here and I lOVE this theater. It is absolutely beautiful inside. They didn't want us to have our phones out in the theater so I didn't take many pics but it is beautiful. I parked in the garage and there was a QR code inside of the theater that covered my parking which was fantastic! Try to get a tickets to a show here and you won't be dissappointed.

When you walk in, you'll be amazed by the architecture and just how historic this place can really be. If you're here for a show or visiting some of the businesses nearby there are a lot of amazing food in store options if you hear for a show getting in line finding your seat is very smooth process overall with plenty of Staff to support you. One of the things that led to four stars instead of five was the constant of folks being let in or out of the show which was distracting at times. Overall sound is also really good once you're inside as well.

Venue was great. Parking was easy. Bar service was so slow and so expensive. 4 bar tenders and 400 people in line. Tried to get a drink during intermission. Impossible. Ive been here 20 times and it's always the same.

I've been to 3 shows here so far and the experience is good. They have free parking in the structure next door which is such a relief and a time saver. Getting searched and checked into the theater is always a smooth process. The wait is never long, neither is the line. They close the box office before the intermission, so but tickets to your next show before the show starts to save on the fees. There's a bar upstairs and one downstairs but the wait and lines are always long. They don't have much for food options. Please eat before you come. They only have small charcuterie boards, a cold sandwich, an overly salted/buttered pretzel (not recommended) and a few candy options, but that's it. There are no restaurants near the theater to dine at beforehand except Zo's burger joint across the street (the next block over). I've sat on the floor and the balconies; the view and sound is good either way and the staff are very helpful in finding your seat. The production is always great! Always arrive early otherwise you have to wait 10 minutes past the start to enter the theater. Ladies, hurry to the restroom after intermission. There's always a long line. Minus one star for the broken doors near the parking structure. I'm pretty sure that's a fire hazard. Only one door is available to get in/out of for each show I've been to.

I got here at 7:30 which the ticket stated. The play had already started. We were told that a group of us would have to wait because the play started 25 minutes earlier. We watched on a TV until they let us in. Really ODD. I was confused and asked why that was. No good answer.

First off the Fisher is absolutely stunning and so is the theatre! Great acoustics and there is not a bad seat! The only thing is you are sitting really tight to the person next to you, not a lot of room. They allow food and drink into the theatre which is really great but some people do not know how to be quiet with eating, wrappers and the such and it can be very disturbing during the show. This is a theatre and not a movie theatre. Some patrons came in late like a 1/2 an hr to 1 hr late and were let in. That was very disturbing as well. I wish the theatre would be more strict on letting people in late and with the eating. Bathrooms can get very busy before, during and after but luckily they move as there is a bathroom attendant! Parking is all around the theatre but I recommend parking in the deck! Just make sure to scan the code to pay for your parking!

Gorgeous building and theater! Iconic and historical. I took my mom to the closing night of "Six The Musical" tonight and we had a splendid time! I've been to the Fisher building many times but this is the first time I saw a show. What took me so long?!! Such a great venue! There are shops throughout the lobby level and lots of Detroit spirit, clothing, food, and beverages. I recommend coming early and walking around. We bought tickets for the Ambassador Lounge before the show. It's a small lounge where you can relax, eat, and drink before the show. We were given a lovely charcuterie board. Drinks are an extra fee but the charcuterie is included in the ticket price. The lounge opens 90 minutes before showtime. It's a luxury because there is a private bathroom there so you don't have to deal with the long lines elsewhere. If your show has an intermission, you can leave your coat in the lounge and come back at intermission and receive dessert and use the restroom again. Such a perk! Sheila was our bartender in the lounge and she was fantastic! Excellent service. Attending a show includes free parking in the lot right outside the theater. Lovely experience!

I recently visited the Fisher Theatre for a performance of Six the musical. It was my first time at this venue, so I was delighted by the art deco look and feel of the entrance. I have to say that the free parking in the attached garage was amazing and something we definitely don't have in Grand Rapids for our Broadway shows. When we arrived, we were asked to open our bags and then were wanded with a metal detector. All fine with me, I'm not trying to sneak anything in. However I was taken aback when the security person asked if I was "expecting," which is something I would never ask anyone even if they looked 12 months pregnant. When I asked him to repeat himself, he said, "are you pregnant?" And when I said no, he said, "Oh, must be the dress." Oookay. I get that some pregnant people might not want to be wanded with this device, but I would think that would be on the patron to inform staff. Whatever the reasoning for this question, I felt it was pretty unnecessary. Anyway, besides that, the theatre itself is pretty, with plenty of options for drinks and snacks. I didn't purchase anything but it's nice to have available. The restrooms seemed kind of out of the way and hidden, I didn't use that either but I think they are downstairs? Our seats were in the lower mezzanine and had a good view, and the sound engineering for our particular show was good. I'd come back in the future for more shows if they have anything interesting that doesn't come to Grand Rapids but probably wear a different outfit. Lol

Really good venue! Well kept old theater. Saw Simon - Garfunkel tribute here. Good acoustics. Lots of leg room for seating. Great system for parking- included for free if you use the app. Helps with waiting in lines before the show.

Fisher is by far my favorite theater in Detroit. It may not be the prettiest, but the seats are more comfortable with better views, it's operated very efficiently and the adjacent free parking is so convenient. Even the bathrooms (at least the ones in the basement) operate extremely efficiently during intermissions. Just the fact that a show is at the Fisher makes me a bit more interested in seeing it.

Great, iconic place to see a venue. Today, my wife and I saw The Jagged Little Pill (The Musical). Outstanding event, fairly easy to get cocktails and use the restroom. Pretty packed house as well. We've been here for a number of events and will continue to come down in the future.

I went here to see the Motown Review Play " Ain't Too Proud to Beg", that play was awesome. Those actors did amazing with the acting, singing and dancing. I'd definitely recommend the pay . It was about 3 hours long, but well worth it.

I grew up coming here and now my children are having the same experiences growing up with theater in their lives. I love this place. I appreciate being able too attend so many of the popular plays and musicals or even have the opportunity in Michigan to see live theater. This place is very nostalgic, not many updates since I was small. I like the chandeliers, the different levels with a bar and snacks on each level. I recall being treated to a pop during intermissions with my parents. Recently, we were able to see Six here. I purchased the tickets rather last minute, so we were not close to the stage, in fact, we were basically in the very last rows in the back, but we were still able to see quite well and it was an amazing show. I love that they had some themed drinks to go with the performance and offered discounts on drinks and snacks after the show so were able to stick around and have our own after glo. I got an Off With Her head cocktail and my child was able to combine a Shirley Temple with a blue slushy. We both had the hot pretzels. Everything was surprisingly tasty. I did see the delicious looking charcuterie board, but it was too big for me or even us to finish, oh well. It was such a wonderful time and I really look forward to seeing more plays in the theater soon. As far as driving and parking here. It is super easy. It is located right off the expressway and parking is easy and on premises, plus it is free with a ticket to the theater. If you want to eat downtown, some places even offer to shuttle you here and back for free. In the past we took advantage of that offer and it was perfect, something to look into since there are many great restaurants in the area.

Went to see Aladdin a few days ago. Dope experience. The Fisher is renovated. Comfy seats. Full bar which is important. I enjoyed my experience.

You must see The Cher Show! You will laugh, you will cry, you will be entertained. It took me back to the 60s! Loved it. Great venue, service, staff. That is why we love Broadway in Detroit!

This is a very nice venue to enjoy a play. It is well run and they do a good job of getting people in and out quickly. I parked in the adjacent surface lot for free with a short walk to the Fisher Building. We enjoyed the play "To kill a mockingbird".

Sometimes I go here with my girlfriend to see some amazing plays and musicals. Of the theaters in Detroit that I've been to, this one has the most comfortable seats - I'm 6'4" and I didn't feel like I was knocking the back of the seat in front of me. The bathrooms are located in the basement of the theater - once you walk in to the main floor, take a right and head downstairs. They've got an attached parking garage which is rather convenient versus finding parking downtown.

Beautiful theater which so much history. I recently visited to see Mrs. Doubtfire followed by the American Girl show and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come see Frozen next week!

So beautiful! Laid out very well. Saw a show the other weekend and only noticed the sound quailing of the show wasn't as expected. Not sure if it was the theater or show. Overall, great experience and we can't wait to come back and see another show.

The Fisher Theater is a great venue to see a Broadway musical or watch your favorite band play. It is located in the stunning Fisher Building which is an Art Deco delight. Tip: arrive early to shop at the boutiques which remain open for patrons before the show. The theatre allows you to take your purchases inside of the theare.

We bought Broadway in Detroit season tickets this year (after talking about it for several!) and it was a 2021-22 Best Buy (we started buying experiences vs gifts for Christmas and this was a perfect choice). We have enjoyed MANY fabulous shows at the Fisher Theater (and at the Opera House) Note: when you buy season tickets and the show is at the OH vs FT I would recommend swapping your seats. Our OH seats were not equivalent to our FT seats (not a complaint just an FYI). The process to do this is very easy. Restrooms are a challenge so allow yourself plenty of time to stand in line (my only complaint).

Came to see Rent. This review is of the theater, not the show. It is nice, a more modern decor than the grand opulence of the Fox. The seats are comfortable, however I wonder how good it would be for those that are very tall as the rows are close together. I was in the mezzanine and the view of the stage was good. At some theaters I have been to the mezzanine overhangs the floor section more than at the Fisher. But despite that, I could see the stage without problems, There was not anything on the theater web site to tell me how long the play was. I would have appreciated that. I did not go to the bar, but it appeared well stocked. The people seating us were helpful and polite. Parking was free in the structure next to the theater. It is a tall structure (I was on the 9th floor). There are 2 elevators, both were working hard to get all the patrons to their cars.

I went to the Fisher Theatre the other night, to see Rent, The Musical. I had a great time, and enjoyed the musical! This is my second time going to the theater for a musical or play in the last couple of years. I enjoy the intimacy of the theater. I also liked the fact that the parking structure right next to the theater was free on Sunday, so that was very convenient. I look forward for more events at the theater.

I love theaters like this! My sister and I came here to see Hamilton. I have never been here before, and I was surprised by how intimate the theater was. Love the sweeping staircases going downstairs. Downstairs is, of course, where the restrooms are. Was happily surprised to see short lines on the women's side.

Went here to see my favourite show Les Miz. Show was wonderful, however I was sitting in the 2nd row of Mezzanine and the guy in front of me was blocking half the stage. And he wasn't even that tall, and I'm not that short. I don't know if the seats are too close together, but I had trouble seeing the stage which really bummed me out.

Not a bad seat in the house. Saw Hamilton, Mean Girls, and Dirty Dancing in concert. Staff was great. Wish frozen Rosé was available year round. Top shelf cocktails were gross. Stick to wine or water.

The building itself is beautiful. There are a lot of steps which can be difficult in heels. There are elevators of course, but they are for disabled people. The inside of the theatre is just...meh...compared to the Fox or The Detroit Opera House. It would be nice to have more restaurants nearby, as well. Also parking could be an issue if you're unable to walk. I would get there early, and have coffee at Stella's while waiting for the doors to open.

Located away from the Broadway theatre district in Detroit, this is probably one of the best kept theatres I've seen in my theatre going lifetime. Tucked away inside the prettiest building in Detroit, I have now found my favorite theatre of them all. Historic as the building it derives it's name from. We came to see the Book of Mormon. We were a tad bit late and we thought we were going to have a hard time finding parking. Well, in a city where they talk about crime rate (which is totally farce), I found a spot that was literally in front of the rear entrance of the building. I wasn't worried about getting it stolen,, hey,, it'll give me a reason to buy a new car. Back to the theatre. The sight lines are amazing,, we were seated in the orchestra level about 5 to 6 rows from the back which is still very close to the stage. If the lead accidentally spat while he spoke, you would definitely see it. Plus the incline was very good,, my slightly shorter sibling didn't have to maneuver her sight around someone in front of her. The acoustics here is really good,, but then it is a theatre, so it definitely should have natural sound projection. It's just a really pleasant place to be to watch great performances. I was literally blown away by the theatres awesomeness. Life is amazing... enjoy every yelptastic day every yelptastic time. Thank you for reading my review. I hope this helps.

Went here to see Cinderella, but I'm reviewing based on the theatre itself, not the show (or the 1000000000 kids that were there causing obvious mayhem, lol). This building is absolutely beautiful. When I got tickets I thought it would be kind of outdated/uncomfortable since it is an older building. No. This place is awesome. Down in the heart of Detroit, there is a parking garage right beside the theatre (no price if seeing a show), making it very accessible and pleasant to not have to worry about downtown parking. The theatre is beautiful and the seats are quite comfortable. I sat up in the upper Mezz because the seats were quite a bit cheaper, and they were perfect! It was a great view of the stage and in the future will get the same area for other shows. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is honestly just because of the non-stop ushering in people down to the front even when they show up 30+ minutes late. Typically at other theaters I've been to, those that show up excessively late, instead of interrupting all of the other guests, get seated at the back until intermission. Other than that, great theatre and will definitely be back!

The Fisher Theater is a true gem! It is a gorgeous venue with convenient (and free) parking, friendly ushers and a consistently great slate of shows. I have never had to sit in long lines to get out of the parking lot or in traffic jams to get onto the expressway, which I really appreciate because the shows tend to get out really late! Make sure you arrive early so that you have time to enjoy the Fisher Building's breathtaking ceiling. Tip: go down to the basement for a quick trip to the bathroom before you go into the theater, the lines are usually shorter there.

I thought I was going a theater with good covid practices when vaccines/tests plus ID were required at the door. Masks were also required unless........ you were eating or drinking. They did not confine eating/drinking and masklessness to the spacious concession area. Patrons were packed in the theater seats elbow to elbow in rows so tight you can feel your hair flutter when the person behind you coughs. Effectively, masks were optional because they allowed eating and drinking in the theater. We ended up leaving before Beautiful started. What you read on the Fisher website about Covid practices sounds promising but the reality is they fail to protect people so they can make concession money.

Ooh - I've never reviewed the Fisher before? Interesting. I've seen about 4 shows here now, I think, over the years; Shrek, Chicago, Annie (last Sept. 2014) and now Flashdance, last night. It's not as flashy as the Fox, but it's a nice venue to see a show. The best part about the Fisher is FREE. ATTACHED. PARKING. Yes, you heard that right :). For the Fox, I usually park at Greektown and take the People Mover, but it's very easy to get in and out of the Fisher because of their parking, and the 'fees' for it are included in your ticket price. Make sure to check out the ceilings in the theater and the Fisher Building, too - they're gorgeous.

Excellent experience...we had tickets for Hello Dolly....parking was easy and close...lines were long getting in but moved swiftly...bring your camera and allow time to bath in the amazing architecture ...highly recommend

Classic theatre located in the heart of DETROIT. The ceiling boasts an original hand painted mural that is breathtaking. Similar to the artwork in Italy's Uffizi Gallery. The theatre itself is spacious and filled with old world charm. I had tickets to the MOTOWN BROADWAY MUSICAL. My seats were located upstairs in the mezzanine. The seats were roomy and comfortable. Unlike a lot of new theatres the seats did not feel cramped or on top of each other. The stage is close to the audience which made the show more intimate. Just the way I like it. The acoustics were simply the best. Everything about the Fisher Theatre is great except for the restrooms. They seriously need to be updated. For a theatre of this caliber the bathrooms are inexcusable. There is a nearby parking lot and plenty of street parking available. Unbelievable, I paid only a few dollars at the meter and parked right outside the main door to the theatre.

I have so many fond memories of the Fisher Theatre. Camping out for hours for rush tickets to Rent when I was in high school (yep, I'm a theatre nerd) and seeing some of the best musicals to come through Detroit. Love. Love. Love. Saw Les Mis there last week and I was reminded just how amazing the sound is in that place. It is an acoustic wonderland. The theatre itself isn't all that impressive compared to other spots in town like the Fox, mostly because I think it was designed for epic sound. Lots of panels and pieces in place to help amplify and purify all the belted notes that come your way (thank you, Jean Valjean!). The seating is fabulous. The main floor is arranged on an angle so there really isn't a bad seat on the floor, since you're propped up above the person in front of you and the seats are staggered so your facing between to heads instead of right behind. The building is gorge, tho, and will give your architecture fix if the theatre itself isn't doing it for you. The lobby is beautiful with lots of gold details to get lost in. Staff is generally really polite although, like most theatres, they do keep you corralled in the lobby until a lull in the show if you show up late (learned the hard way that walking in at 8:02 will mean you're held in the lobby for 15 minutes until the end of the prologue. We were late so I'm not complaining, but it's something to be aware of--leave early!). I actually like that because I'm typically a really punctual person when it comes to the theatre and I hate the distraction of people walking in front of you during a key point in the opening number. Won't happen again, Fisher! The theatre is large but it actually isn't THAT huge which means that tickets for popular shows sell out pretty quickly so if you see something coming htat you're interested in, be sure to jump on it as soon as you can to ensure a ticket.

This is a great local venue in Detroit for when the performances come to town. A plus is the parking is free, as long as you have a ticket to the show that evening. The venue is also down the street from Detroit Police Head Quarters. Now thats not really that big a deal, but nothing will really happen if your that close to the police. The only issue here is the seating, and it's not that seats are too close, its more about how they are laid out. It should be set up where the seats behind are a half a chair off, so you're looking though the sholders if the people in front.

We went to see Beautiful and we were really impressed with the production. The sound and the view from the second row of the balcony were great. The Fisher building is gorgeous, but the theater itself is fairly plain. On the negative side, the line to get into the adjacent parking garage (where you can park for free with Broadway in Detroit tickets) was huge so we spent $20 to park in a surface lot across the street. The seats seemed very small to me and I'm not a big person. They were small enough that I felt as if I were sharing with the guy next to me. The lines for the women's restroom were very long after the show so I went to the one in the basement of the Fisher building, outside of the theater. There was a McDonald's a few doors down, Cafe con Leche across the street, and a sandwich shop in the Fisher for places to eat nearby.

The Fisher Theatre is a gorgeous venue for any theatre production. The inside of the building is aesthetically pleasing with high ceilings with stunning painted murals. The decor is not as ornate as The Fox Theatre, but impressive nonetheless. The Fisher is a tucked away gem from the theatre district. There aren't a lot of restaurants nearby to have dinner before, other than the upscale French restaurant Cuisine. The Fisher also has its own parking lot with a free attached parking garage. I would recommend arriving early though as it gets very busy. I recently saw Rent's 20th Anniversary tour here and it was fantastic. Great set, costumes, and amazing singing and acting. We were seated on mainfloor about eight rows from the stage on the left and we had an amazing view. I feel like the sight line on the far left and right sides of the stage was much better here than at The Fox. The sound, lighting, and acoustics were also great. There were concessions throughout the theatre selling wine, beer, and bottled water. Unfortunately the only bathroom is downstairs but they do pipe the sound of the actual live theatre production throughout the venue so that you don't miss a thing. Great location to see any play. I can't wait to return

Came here to watch the play that goes wrong, and it's so nice and beautiful the staff are extremely helpful and willing to help you if you need anything, my daughter and I had an experience with someone who was sitting behind us I went and told someone and they did not hesitate to help me and even moved us to another seat. I was extremely grateful.

Came here to see Les Mis as a complete newbie never having been here before. Parking was easy, close, and free in the nearby structure. The Fisher Building was stunning. I have never been in such a beautiful building. Truly a Detroit gem! They check your purse upon entering the theatre. The theatre itself was also beautiful and atmospheric throughout. We got drinks at the main bar before the rush. Drinks were expensive but that was expected and you get a durable cup with re-closable lid for cocktails which was convenient. We had seats in the mezzanine and the view was great. The back row of the mezzanine level has a nice ledge for drinks or purses behind it that I was jealous of. The rows are staggered and sloped so you get a nice clear view no matter what. Seats were relatively comfortable and I am not a small person. The show was of course incredible and I am thrilled I got to see it. I would love to attend other shows here it was a great time for my whole group.

Well I've been to the Fisher many times but Yelp says it is my first... oh well. Seeing The Body Guard... I should say one half as I left at intermission. In my opinion it was pretty boring and slow. But to be honest, I'm not crazy about musicals. House was about 75% full with lots of applause after the songs so it was well received by most.

The Fisher Theatre is a beautiful building from the floor to the ceiling it shows artistic details that everyone can appreciate. The staff was friendly & very helpful. Here is the negative... DUST on the walls and decor was so thick it looked layered & it was disgusting! Paying $100 a seat to listen to the opera is fine however, paying $100 for a seat & listening to CHEAP PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES crinkle and crack every time some one touched their bottle or took a drink or even adjusted the water bottle in their hand is insane! This went on through out the entire performance. Intermission was a nightmare with only 4 of 5 restroom stalls open for women on the mezz level! At least 1 stall didn't have a hook to hang you purse which is a huge inconvenience. I wish the positive out weighed the negative but it doesn't.

Went to see Rent. Maybe house was half filled and they ran out of printed programs. Really?!?!! What did your copier break or you forgot how to count?!?!??

Love this theatre my absolute favorite one in Michigan! I love the organized ways the ushers conduct the crowd. I like he cleanliness of the facilities. One thing that prevents me from giving it anymore stars is that they need to have more non alcoholic drinks. They should have an area for coffee or tea. In addition, I don't get why it's a cash only facility. It doesn't make sense because who carries bundles of catch in this tech world. At least they can have Apple Pay! I think it needs to progress with the growth of society in the way they provide amenities. Also, it really is the only other broadway type option in Michigan.

For this history loving girl- going to the Fisher Theater is a wonderful experience as the theater itself is housed is a piece of US history, the Fisher Building. Built in 1928- this art deco style building is absolutely lovely. The three story mosaic vaulted ceilings in the lobby are done in over 40 different types are marble designed by a Hungarian artist. I just stand and marvel at the beauty each time I enter the building. In fact- it is so beautiful with the design, both inside and out, that it is referred to as "Detroit's largest art object". . . . and it truly is. The theater itself is a bit simple, a little dated but intimate. With about 2000 seats, you'll find there isn't a bad seat in the house. Interestingly enough- when the theater first opened in 1928- it was decorated in sort of an Aztec theme complete with banana trees and live macaws that the patrons could feed. But like most live theater houses- it fell on bad times after the Depression and was turned into a movie theater until the 60's when it was renovated once again and turned back into a wonderful place to see live theater. There is a small bar area in the lobby and know that they do let you take your drinks into the theater. And surprisingly? The prices are not unreasonable. And unlike most theaters today- you will be actually shown to your seat by an usher (usually senior citizens who volunteer their time in return for a free ticket to see the show play). The restrooms are located on the lower level and ladies- please pay attention to the restroom attendant as she knows her stuff. When she points you toward an open stall- GO! and we will all make it back to our seats before the intermission is up. During my recent visit- it was like the women didn't believe her or something and just stood there not moving! Parking is included with the price of your ticket and there is a lot as well as a garage located on the west side of the building. Also know that handicapped parking is at a premium so if it's one of those spots you covet- get there early. We went an hour before the show and they were all taken. But no problem as I just dropped off my mom and went and parked the car. It's too bad that this building is now a bit of an oasis in what used to be a booming area of Detroit with the original Motown records just up the street and the New Center Building next door. To get here from the Lodge or Jeffries freeway- you see some of the decline that has befallen Detroit and it makes me sad for what once was. Unfortunately, there are few restaurants in the area to eat at before or after the show so you will probably end up, like we did, continuing into another part of the city. But the good news is the Fisher Theater is so conveniently located, there are many choices within a short drive. I love historic buildings and beautiful historic buildings that tell such a story of history of a city are especially dear to my heart. Go see something at the Fisher Theater. You'll be reminded how great the city of Detroit is and you'll wonder what kept you away for so long!

This place in a gem in our Downtown Detroit area. It's so beautiful inside. My husband took me to see the Bodyguard and that plan alone was awesome. The sound was great and seats was very comfortable. I only gave this place 4 out of 5 stars because I feel like they can do better with their concessions stands. Disappointed in the food selection in between the play but other than that it was great.
