Fisherman's Bastion is a stunning, fairy-tale fortress with seven spires, offering breathtaking views of Budapest and the Danube, perfect for sunset strolls.
"Fisherman's Bastion Fisherman's Bastion was built between 1895 and 1902 on Buda's Castle Hill not to provide protection, but rather as a lookout point—and this fairy-tale castle site, with its seven spired towers representing the seven tribe of Magyar (Hungarians) that settled here in the 9th century, is all about providing stunning views of the city, the Danube, and best of all the ornate parliament building across the river. In medieval times, a guild of fishermen protected this area, giving the bastion its name, and its construction coincided with the restoration of the nearby church. You can just walk around and drink in the beauty, or pay a small fee for a walk up a tower spire, to further amplify the amazing view."
ok obviously you're going to go here because it's a big tourist place. however my biggest tip is to go at night, after sunset for sure. then you don't have to pay to actually go up on the walls & you get to see the city at night which is so sweet. there's way fewer people and it's great for pictures as well as getting that good travel feeling (yknow when you feel adventurous and independent and all that)
Absolutely beautiful place with stunning views over the city! 🏰✨
I’d highly recommend visiting as part of the hop-on hop-off bus tour — it’s a great way to explore Castle Hill and take in all the sights without the uphill walk. A must-see when in Budapest!

My absolute favourite place every time I am in Budapest. Especially early in the morning when it’s still not too crowded. It has its magical charm and amazing view on the Parliament and over the Danube river.

really cool place to visit when you come to Budapest… I only walked around the Bastion but the views and structures there are magnificent… recommend buying a ticket when you arrive to see the stunning views inside… nearby on the corner there is a souvenir shop underneath the building selling amazing metal assassin models (worth a visit if you are a fan of the game)

What more can be said about this place that hasn’t already been said? It's stunning and truly moving. It’s best to arrive before sunset and stay after dark. Walking along the upper wall overlooking the Danube is magical. They charge an entrance fee at first, but around nightfall, it becomes free to enter… absolutely beautiful!

Truly beautiful place and one of the highlights of my trip to Budapest. If you are like me and want to enjoy the place without the crowd and take your photos in peace, I would recommend visiting early, like around 6.00 - 6.30. As the upper part of the monument opens later on the day you can revisit later. You will understand the difference. The local buses can take you up in no time and there are many paths from monument that lead back to bottom.

Beautiful place! You can walk around, there are a few places where you can eat (we ate at Jamie’s Italian Restaurant), and you’ll get to experience a gorgeous panoramic view of the city.
You can also pay on site or online (around 3000HUF / 8€ for 2 people) go up a few steps (where the small towers are) to enjoy an even more beautiful scenery.

Probably one of my fave spots so far for my trip here in Budapest. The architecture really shines. You should go and just see the souvenir shop underground as well pretty cool. Views were really nice & if you get tired you can grab something to drink in the Starbucks nearby. The St. Mattias church is in the center of it as well. Really nice. ♡

This place is simply magical. The walk across the bridge, the view of the Parliament, and standing next to the majestic St. Matthias Cathedral—just wow.
A few tips:
1. Bring your own drink (water or something cold)—once you start walking up, there’s nothing available until the top, and even then, the little supermarket was closed when we arrived.
2. Stay for sunset and wait until they light up the Parliament building across the Danube—it’s an unforgettable sight.
This spot captured everything I loved about Budapest in one view.
