We had dinner for four and had to wait a few minutes at the bar. The bar service was good with drinks coming quickly. Dinner was fairly quick as well. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The view is fairly good if you can get the right seats. We will definitely be going back. UrbanCowgill June 2022

I'm not a picky person but I feel compelled to share my experience, it was that bad. I ordered the surf and turf. The shrimp was salty but edible. The ribeye which i ordered medium was not cooked enough but I didn't want to send it back because I had already sent the Brussel sprouts back and I don't mind a medium rare/rare steak. The Brussel sprouts tasted like grease or something and were burnt. They were unedible. I'm so disappointed that I paid over $30 and left hungry. They need a new cook..I will never go back.

This was our second visit to Fisher’s Dockside, the first visit being fine for a group of six. For starters, please know our server was delightful, prompt, and professional. Wait times for food and beverage were short. The people there were great! We were seated on Thursday evening at 6:30 or so, with no wait. The $13 frozé was very acidic/citrusy and not my favorite. The smoked tuna dip app was a huge portion and delicious. Served with toasted sesame wafers. The best part of the meal. The $32 surf and turf was what we both ordered. The blackened shrimp were tasty, if nothing special. The issue we had was that the steaks (which were over cooked but edible - no biggie) were served over many of the fries, making them soggy. In addition, the steaks didn’t have much seasoning, and since my ordered medium was cooked to well done (no pink), I asked for some steak sauce - and was told they do not keep ANY steak sauce around. Weird. I was disappointed that there wasn’t an option to cure these ills in seasoning and moisture. The people and the atmosphere passed the vibe check, but the entree and frozé left us disappointed. We love sister restaurant Playa, but will pass on Fisher’s next time around.

Best meal in Gulf Shores area!!!! Great service! Loved the whole experience! Best shrimp and grits I have ever tasted!

Google
Funday Friday with a fellow local at Fishers. The doors were down and provided a cool, yet Beachy environment. Enjoyed the bambuzzel cocktail- nice and refreshing! Along with Parmesan Fries (yum), pimento n cheese and pork rinds (yum) and black eyed pea hummus (good- not great).

Google
Food was awesome the service was terrible. We got seated with out menus. Then about ten minutes the host drops all the forks and knives for us to pass out for a party on 14. It took a long time to order our food. I got a burger 🍔

Google
Fantastic place for families. Anna made us feel like part of the family, showing my kids where to feed the fish and taking time to know us. The food was exceptional and accommodating. My son didn’t like the spicy tuna and the kitchen made him a new one plain.

Fishers at Orange Beach Marina is a nice spot on the water to enjoy a good time and have some good food. This restaurant has a split personality with the downstairs, Fishers Dockside, being a more casual restaurant while Fishers Upstairs is a more upscale restaurant. I enjoyed my experiences eating at Fisher's Dockside and was planning on eating at Fisher's Upstairs but it seems circumstances have been set into motion that will prevent that. Unfortunately it was just announced that Fishers at Orange Beach Marina will be permanently closing after ten years and November 7th 2023 will be their last day in business. Yelp
We arrived and were happy to see that Shipps is a little more laid back than Fisher's was. A little is great, a lot is not!! The menu looks fantastic. Everyone was very pleasant that we talked to. Some great looking customers deserve properly dressed staff. The staff were definitely the worst dressed people in the restaurant. Hostess was wearing Crocks with stripped tube socks. Servers with cut off short jean shorts. Everyone in T Shirts. Teddy bear key chains hanging from pockets. It's just trashy. Huge beautiful salads come with each meal. Please clear the dirty plates before you serve the entree. We had to ask the person serving our meals to clear the plates and he didn't seem happy about it. The menu is great but the food needs to be served hot, it wasn't. There was a birthday party in the restaurant... great!!!! Staff singing happy birthday and clapping like a casual Mexican Restaurant is not great. A place serving 30ish dollar plates should act like it! You're not Dick's Last Resort!! The lights could be toned down a bit and there are multiple bulbs out. Let's get it together and make this a great place!!! I'll be back and hopefully some of the issues are resolved

Yelp
Shipps Dockside Grill has taken over the space in the Orange Beach Marina. The decor is beautiful and soothing with simple accoutrements. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive, talking us through the menu. I ordered the grouper which was fantastic! The flavors exploded in my mouth. My husband had the filet and he was very pleased. Best part of the whole adventure was we were able to make reservations, so no waiting. Definitely a favorite in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area.

Yelp
Was so excited to try this place since Fisher's was my most favorite in OBA. We booked a table for upstairs, and all the wait staff were super friendly! We started with crab claws and the "Shipp-faced" cocktail and an Aperol spritz. All were very good! All together we tried the Mahi mahi, swordfish, oysters (Cajun & Rockefeller), crab bisque, and the wedge salad. Both the mahi and the swordfish were overcooked and under seasoned. The swordfish was meant to come with "pineapple salsa, coconut butter, & toasted coconut." The pineapple salsa was not made with fresh pineapple, and there was no coconut flavor whatsoever. Oysters and crab bisque were good, but not the greatest we've ever had. Wedge salad was phenomenal. House-made dressing and crispy onions made this my personal favorite of the whole meal! All in all, it is definitely a jump from Fisher's. Dockside dining also looks very different. Not sure if it's worth dropping the money and another night of vacation to come back. TLDR: Skip the fish, grab a cocktail or two, and don't expect Fisher's-caliber or bang for your buck

Yelp
We were so excited the marina was reopening as a restaurant. Staff was ok, menu looked great. Food was good. Not great, All menu items were not available. Grouper ponchatrain stated shrimp, mushrooms and lump crab meat. It was cooked well but zero lump crab meat. The menu had other issues. Did not list anything that came with entrees. Waitress informed us the entree came with salad. Entree also came with mashed potatoes ( not fresh) and green beans. I understand it's recently opened but for such a beautiful location it was just average

Yelp
Just opening up in the old Fishers location on the Marina. Upper deck open 3/24 and lower deck already open. Shipps has a long history of restaurants here in Orange Beach and have always delivered a good meal. They will do well at this location. Hope to see a Happy Hour pop up in the near future.

Yelp
Service was great. Ordered tuna wontons and blackened tuna sushi to go. Wontons good. Sushi guess I ordered wrong.

Yelp
Back again for another trip! I have raved to so many people about the Ahi Tuna Sandwich and will continue to do so! This has quickly become a must eat when in town!

Yelp
Overall the food was ok. It took forever to get our food, but our waiter was overwhelmed due to being understaffed. Very nice restaurant, clean and stylish.

Yelp
The Good - The food was good, it did not standout but was good. We had a reservation as we always had when it was Fishers. We didn't need a reservation to be seated. The knot so good - Nothing like Fishers. The table clothes are gone. It's a little louder now. All staff are in t-shirts as if they were working downstairs. Our waitress was definitely not a standout. When you pay, the waiter stands over you with one of those portable card processors while you review your ticket and decide on a tip. We won't be back.

Lydia S.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. We waited 2 full hours for food -- not because it was packed (it wasn't), but because the kitchen apparently runs on island time and ego. When we asked about the delay, the kitchen staff was visibly annoyed, borderline hostile. Not just unprofessional -- rude. To top it off, the manager didn't care either. No apology. No explanation. Just more attitude, like we were the problem for expecting decent service. Sorry, but if you're going to charge those prices, maybe act like a restaurant that wants customers to come back? Nothing about this experience was worth the wait -- food included. Plenty of better places in Orange Beach. Don't waste your time or money here.

Yelp
I'm going to give this one a 4 but that's a generous score considering our experience. I'm am going to chalk this up to being new but the food lacked seasoning and the staff was clearly clueless... I really wish restraints in OB would learn how to season food and stop catering to my 90 year old grandma. The only restaurant in OB that has great food is Zekes and Voyagers. We were fans of Fishers over the years and hope this restaurant can redeem itself. We will be back to give them another shot but they certainly left more to be desired in the food and service.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We had the crab bisque, Grouper Pontchartrain, and the Chicken Florentein. All of it was great.

Yelp
Amazing food, atmosphere, and the best server, Allison. Food came out fast even with crowd. It tasted fresh and was hot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Our group of 4 had a nice dinner experience. Grouper Ponchatrain, Blackened Mahi and Swordfish all well plated and tasted great (could've used a bit more seasoning for my taste but salt and pepper did the trick). Green beans and potato sides very good. I feel like the pricing was fair which is surprising these days. Salad was good with a mix of greens and house made dressings. I would like to see fresh bread instead of crackers. It's nice to have reservations. Not too crowded so plenty of bar seating available both inside and out during short wait for table. Outside lighting was a little dim at our table. Excellent service. Pena colada cake to go a great ending.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. The blackened Mahi-mahi is exceptional and the oysters Rockefeller are second to none

Yelp
We love the food....but ( don't you hate when people use the word but ?) their process of ordering is so antiquated, if not maddening that it makes the whole experience awful. You walk up and see this menu that's a huge board of all incredible choices and they expect you to just walk up and order, of course no one tells you this. I've seen numerous parties just go sit down and expect a waiter to come over to there table and explain all of the excellent choices ( novel idea ! ) once you order then you have to find a table. We waited for our food and I was pleasantly surprised to receive my smashburger very quickly but no one asked me for my drink order, I asked asked a worker to take my drink order and she politely said you have to do to the bar for your drink order........very odd but ok........so the poor bar tender who was overwhelmed was extremely helpful and handed me 6 drink cups while helping many frustrated guests. As we were waiting for the rest of our food my wife told me to go ahead and and start eating. I did and the burger was a master piece but the other 4 people in our party still had not received their food. After flagging down someone we were able to explain our dilemma and quickly things got sorted out but this is our 3rd time having the same experience. I'm done with this place and it's such as shame. Such a beautiful location with lots of fantastic memories from the old restaurant Fishers.

Yelp
Tried this new option in Orange Beach. Upstairs is more fine dining and downstairs is casual. We ate upstairs. Ordered the crab dip to start. Really a bowl of cream cheese with no crab to be found. Pita points were nicely toasted. Disappointed to learn you can only order sushi downstairs. Gumbo was terrific. Great dark roux and lovely flavor. Best bite of the night. Crab bisque was flavorless. A big bowl of heavy cream with no seasoning and a few tiny slivers of crab. The crab cake was good with a nice amount of crab but the corn salad that accompanied it was sour and inedible. The pasta and blackened shrimp was heavy with minimal seasoning. The seasonal spritzer was tasty. The server was attentive and friendly. Overall an expensive meal that was underwhelming. We won't return upstairs. Might be willing to try a sandwich or sushi downstairs on the outside patio.

Bradley B.

Yelp
Worst food we've had in quite a while. Do not waste your money. Frozen seafood and what had to be canned soup that they tried to pass for gumbo.

Yelp
Very nice vibe, location and great service. I have been following the Shipps folk ever since they were at sportsman marina back in the day. I heard they opened this new location and trecked over to give it a go. I sat at the bar and ordered the perdido sushi roll with a beer. I was not disappointed, I will be back!

Bobby H.

Yelp
Very noisy upstairs, there were 7 in our group, seating was miserable, big cushions and pillows on one side, the other side chairs were extremely short. Oyster salad was served with the wrong dressing on it, then the inept waiter brought the requested salad dressing on the side. The worst thing was receipt of salads at the same time as the entree. We complained to the manager, she said she was sorry, but they were very busy, so the kitchen was pushing out the orders. We won't bother ever going there again.

Yelp
Outstanding food. Preparation taste and timelines. Service outstanding. Friendly Bartendars can make awesome cocktails

Anthony R.

Yelp
Place is fantastic!!! Watch out Big Fish as you have some competition. Seriously folks this place is great.

Jane B.

Yelp
We went as a party of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was family friendly and the kids meal was very generous and the chicken strips were delicious and toddler approved. The butter bean cakes were different and delicious- think hummus with toppings. The swordfish sandwich and shrimp poboys were great, too. The bartender was friendly and did a great job with the cocktails. We especially enjoyed his strawberry mojitos.

Carmen M.

Yelp
The meal and atmosphere were amazing. I had the rigatoni with shrimp (2 jumbo, wish it was more). My boyfriend had the swordfish and he ate it all. To begin, we had crab bisque and Caesar salad. Creme brulee for dessert. Everything as good! Had to make reservations, which is recommended! It was a great experience! Will definitely go back !

Cindy N.

Yelp
Everything about the new Shipp's Dockside Grill is fabulous. The food is amazing and the ambiance is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and pleasant. We would highly recommend.

Shane V.

Yelp
Food was sub-par. Service was good. Oysters Rockefeller and creole were good. Crab cakes were real bad. Crab cakes out of a can with basic bread crumbs would be better. Steak was well over cooked and more like round steak rather than an aged filet and was in the 4-5 oz range. I took one bite and sent it back for being over cooked and asked them to remove it from my check. Not paying premium price for a steak that was terrible. Tuna appetizer was good. Tuna dip appetizer was good. The potatoes and green beans that were served with each entree were terrible. Potato's tasted like they were cooked with dawn dish soap in them and the green beans were plain as if I flash cooked/steamed them to get them warm and plated. Not a place to spend $$$$ on.

Ryon W.

Yelp
Food was very good! Service needs work! Ambiance OK! A table cloth would be a nice touch! Upper food better than lower??

Kim G.

Yelp
I'd give negative stars if I could. Ive been to all other Shipps restaurants and enjoyed. This one very different. Awful concept that wasn't explained..you have to go up and order and hostess stand and then wait in a different line to order drinks (like food court at the mall). We waited an hour and 15 minutes after ordering our food to receive an ice cold fried oyster poboy. I carried it up to the hostess stand. She then proceeded to bring the sandwich back to my table to tell me it was freshly made and not cold despite me having her hold a cold oyster. Her manager sent her out to sell me my cold sandwich. I told her to get the manager out to talk with me. We waited. My kids were eating. I went to the restroom and walked by the hostess stand to inquire about the manager and my sandwich. she said I wasn't getting another sandwich and the manager had left. we left at 1020pm without eating. All restaurants closed Now. Don't waste your money. Go anywhere but Shipps. It is complete crap. Bad cold food. Long waits. Bad service. Awful Concept. Awful night.

Haley H.

Yelp
We have been there 3 times and all three times they were out of the mahi mahi. Very unprofessional. They have a very limited menu and what's on the menu is not reliable. The staff are very rude and snobby. Every time we have made a reservation, and the staff still sticks their nose up at you when you arrive.

Melanie S.

Yelp
The service and ambiance are the only positives of my experience with this place. I was instantly turned off when the one thing I wanted was not available. Also, it was only 5pm, so how do you NOT have something at opening time? The pineapple margherita was highly recommended and tasted like cucumber water. I ordered the penne pasta with 2 jumbo shrimp. Why even state there are 2 jumbo shrimp if that's all that comes with the dish? They were at best, medium sized shrimp, therefore, the dish looked ridiculous! Also, it came with minced up ham which was not stated in the description and I don't eat pork! I was there with 3 other ladies. Only one said their food was good.

Barb J.

Yelp
DEEEEElicious! We had the Johnson Beach salad w Ahi Tuna and the Shipp's Shrimp Roll. Both were truly wonderful! And such a nice environment too!!! Wishing this new restaurant tons of success!'

Gary C.

Yelp
We went last night with friends. What an amazing experience. The service was great, food spectacular and the ambiance was second to none. Our waitress did an incredible job, took really good care of us. We will definitely be back.

Danny B.

Yelp
The upstairs was wonderful. The service, food and atmosphere is great. Matt and his daughter have another winner. Keep it up!

Chris B.

Yelp
So happy to have Shipp's at Orange Beach Marina. Great sushi! Excellent service!! Looking forward to our next visit.

Chris M.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Will definitely come back every time we're in the area. Great food and the service was unbeatable.

David D.

Yelp
Really solid high end food. GREAT ATMOSPHERE on the bay. Great viewing and music. Overall a solid spot best oysters we've had down here.

Sarah M.

Yelp
My husband and I stumbled onto this place and we are so glad we did! Emily was our server and was more than fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing. We are upstairs and the atmosphere was fun, the live music downstairs was the best we have heard this vacation. I highly recommend the wedge salad, turtle soup, and grouper pontchartrain

Margaret T.

Yelp
First we sat at the bar and it was filthy. Had to ask the bartender to please wipe off the top. Then the bartender complained that no one showed up to work and he was tired. I didn't want to hear excuses. The food was mediocre at best. Our waitress was really y nice and tried hard. The cook burnt the roux and was terrible. The whole place needed a facelift and cleaning. I was so disappointed. I used to go to Fisher's and it was such a nice treat. The owner needs to pay attention to details. It could be a great place, but needs a cleaning, attitude change and better chef. The is a review on the upstairs.

Corissa H.

Yelp
Hi me and my husband and my daughter and her boyfriend all dined in Saturday 6/14/25 at Your upstairs location it was not a good experience at all. To start we were there for our reservation and I told the girl up front and I could barely understand her, she asked me to wait for another girl and while waiting for someone to come another couple came in behind us and was seated ahead of us . When we were finally seated we waited for about 5 min before our waitress came and we told her there was BIRD CRAP on our table and she handed us a napkin to wipe it up instead of offering to clean our table. Our water was nasty undrinkable and I ordered a Tito's and cranberry and it was the worst I couldn't even drink it, then our food came out just pure nasty me and my daughters boyfriend had the Mahi Mahi it was cooked too long and Luke warm my daughter and my husband had the swordfish and there were cooked the same. Then we thought well we will order 2 desserts I had the bread pudding all I can say is it was cold and tasted old!!!!!! Then after all that out waited knew we were ready for our checks and we ended up waiting almost 15 min for her to get someone else to bring them to us!! We spent over $105.00 on each check and this is how we got treated!!!!!! Very unsatisfied!!!!

Phil O.

Yelp
I have eaten here nine times since they've opened it has been awesome. Every time the tuna wontons are one of the best things I've ever had at any restaurant.

Valerie W.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Shipps Harbor Grill since it was on Canal Rd. I even dined with them when they moved further West on the beach road and became Fin and Fork, then on to Pensacola to that location. I was so excited to see them re-opening in OBA again as Shipp's Dockside. Four girlfriends went and we ate 5 different meals and 2 different appetizer as well as cocktails. Only one person said their food was good. The cocktails were all bad too. I will give them a 5 for service and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. When I didn't like my meal, they comped it brought me something else. Sadly, it wasn't good either. I would say I may have just been me, but two of the others didn't like theirs either. For more specifics the fish was strong tasting, the Gouda potatoes didn't taste like they even had salt in them and the green beans were just frozen steamed, unseasoned plastic tasting beans. The drinks were bland and watery, the eggplant dish was mushy and it was just a stack of eggplant with what looked like a bowl of hollandaise sauce poured over it. The blackened penne pasta was thick and curdled and honestly I would have been embarrassed to top a huge bowl of pasta with TWO blackened "jumbo" shrimp , and charge $24 for that. I have fine dined practically everywhere. Shrimp are on the low end for cost. You should never serve less than 6 on an entree. The fried seafood platter was enjoyed by our friend. The seafood gumbo tasted good, but it was mostly huge chunks of sausage and one sea monkey sized can shrimp in the cup with two pieces of okra. I won't go on, but I think you get the message that improvements would need to be made if any of us were to return. Wish I had taken pics.
