The freshest and yummiest fish and chips. Service is lovely! Always welcomed with a smile and recommendation. We drive almost 2 hours to visit because we just can’t get anything like it in Melbourne. 10/10

Best fish and chips in town! The fish is fresh and the chips are amazing, not the bright yellow stuff like other fish and chips. The hot sauce is terrific. The customer service is helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back 🐠🐟

Came here as a group of 5 and got a share platter. Great value and really yummy!!! Perfect size for sharing. This is a great fish and chip shop - yes it’s a bit more up market and expensive but you really get what you pay for. The quality of the food was super good they also have a really diverse range of meals which is great for people who might not love standard fish and chips. Service was super great too!

Loved our first meal in Torquay! Beautiful day, place was buzzing and there was a short line to order. We had the fish and salad, octopus, side of fries and grilled corn. The fish was delicious as was the salad and the grilled corn! Definitely worth a visit and we loved their focus on sustainability.

Google
Hands down some of THE BEST fish & chips!!! Fisho's always has the freshest, most flavourful and well executed dishes! We ordered the share platter, fish tacos and an extra salad. The fish is so crispy, battered beautifully and so delicious. Never disappoints, and always worth the wait :) Staff are also so kind and the service is very friendly.

Google
The portions are a joke for the price. I was discussing what fish to get with the staff, very clearly wanted a fish yet somehow ended up with a squid, she told me arrow is a flat fish but it was just pieces of squid - maybe it would be good to mention that? Moreover there were like 5 pieces of it, for $25! Clearly only interested in taking money rather making sure you actually get what you expect for it.

Google
Solid atmosphere and really adds to the vibes as you’re eating along the beach. The fish batter was great and seafood fresh! Great service, they close at 3 but we arrived at 245 and they were kind and patient to let us order and finish our meal.

Google
Best fish & chips I've had in Australia!! So so good, we shared the Gummy shark & the Trevally fish & they were both delicious! Also shared the most fresh & delicious tuna tartare to start! The real winner was the chips though - hand cooked & unbeatable. Loved the atmosphere, so friendly! So happy to have our first night in Torquay here! Only teeny tiny thing that I personally would have preferred is a gherkin/caper tartare sauce they have a dill version, still yum!

Yelp
An absolute best find of the day! Fishos is definitely Torquay's little gem. We stopped by for lunch yesterday and I was instantly in love with this place. Charming atmosphere, panoramic views from the comfort of your table and the food... oh the food, was one of the best fish and chips I have the pleasure of devouring. Simple one page dead-on menu and they did advertise on using local and fresh ingredients, so yay for that. We got one of the family boxes (serves 4) for $65 with the options of grilled or fried as well as sides of salad or chips. Opted for the deep fried tempura style, and boy I did not regret this at all! All hail to the platting, it arrives in a huge basket and beautifully presented! The calamari was definitely the highlight of the dish, uber tender and flavorful! The fish and potato hotcakes were delicious as well. Humble and friendly service, price point might be a little steep, but for a memorable dining experience in a gorgeous setting, I would be back in a heart beat!

Yelp
Fish tacos could be mix & matched. Ceviche was the best, with a generous portion & a sharp flavour. Grilled was slightly tough. All were pretty tasty. Snapper fish & chips were decent. I could taste the freshness of the hand cut potato chips.

Yelp
Great seafood in a fantastic setting. Right on the foreshore in Torquay and an institution in the area. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the seafood is a must as it's fresh and tasty with plenty of options. Can get busy at times so be prepared. Good for all ages.

Yelp
We made a pit stop in Torquay to check out the surf shops and beaches. Afterwards, we were looking for a place to eat; Fisho's Torquay looked the most appealing. They specialize in fresh, local seafood. It's a higher end type of fish and chip spot. We dropped in on a Wednesday afternoon (around 1:15pm). It must have been a house previously as there's tons of seating inside and out; everyone was outside sitting on the four large communal tables and bar stools along the fence. The music was great (a good mix of new and old school hits). The menu is a simple one pager and they update it to let you what's available. Basically, the options are fish & chips, fish & salad (three salad options), tacos, share platters ($72.00 AUD for four people) and sides. There's also wine (sparkling, red, rosé and white), beer & cider and soft drinks. They had Winkipops for dessert. - Fish & salad ($22.00 AUD) - we opted for the calamari (grilled) with heirloom tomatoes, basil, kale and balsamic. Grilled calamari was oh so tender and perfectly grilled. You could really taste the basil in the salad mix of kale and tomatoes. Great side of salad. - Fish tacos ($21.00 AUD) - you get three tacos and choose between fried or ceviche gummy shark. We choose the latter. They're corn tortillas topped with cabbage, coriander, chipotle, tomatillo and charred pineapple salad. Wish the tortillas came out hot and crispy but the gummy shark was excellent and all the ingredients worked. It's pricey for three tacos but the quality is there. Even the chipotle had a slight kick to it. Fresh, excellent seafood; just leaning towards the pricier side. However, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. 4.5 stars.

Yelp
After a couple hours of paddling around trying (and generally failing) to catch waves, we decided to head to Fisho's for a quick lunch. The reviews were excellent so we felt it was worth the 20 minute walk. We went up to the counter and got recommended the Fish Tacos (gummy shark) three ways: grilled, fried, and ceviche. I ordered a beer as well. I hadn't been in Australia long so the concept of eating shark tacos didn't feel super appetizing. But gummy shark, also known as flake, is actually quite good and quite common. Especially in fish and chips. We took a seat by the fence and dug in to the tacos. We enjoyed the variety of getting the flake three ways. I found the ceviche one excellent, the fried one good, and the grilled one 'just ok'.

Yelp
Love this place awesome seafood selection and drinks, gotta try their fish n chips and of course Other dishes as well. Overall a perfect place to chill, Eat and relax after a day of strolling around the area.

Yelp
Fish tacos are better than just about anything. I can't wait to return here and I'm devastated that it's two hours from where we live. Having said that, distance will not deter me!!! We had the charred corn, a side of chips and the fish tacos (3 per serve!) which were the perfect ratio of sweet and spicy and luscious texture of the fish was utter perfection. The beer on tap was also a hit and we left very full and incredibly content. The staff were attentive and helpful, even recommending other places for us to check out locally which we really appreciated. I can't wait to go back. It's now a top spot in my book to take overseas guests and traveling friends.

Yelp
Fresh and local "feesh" across from Bells in "Torkey." After a long day of charging the outside of Bells, I wish, actually, we just got back from driving to the 12 Apostles and I we wanted to check out the legendary surfer town of Torquay. A young man working at the local Rip Curl shop suggested this place since his girl friends dad owned the place. He explained that the name comes from the Australian name for a Fish and Chip shop, which they call a "fisho." Fisho's is a quick service eatery with a couple of communal tables, and counters that are at the windows, and in addition there is a large out door eating area. That day with a 15 C temp with a 10 C wind chill, we opted to eat inside. The menu is pretty basic since they serve locally sourced fish caught right off Point Danger, at least according to the man at the counter. That day they had a gummy shark, calamari, and two other fishes that I forget what they are called. You get to order the fish grilled or tempura style with different sides like chips, salads, or rice. They also have box dinners for families and larger parties. After you place your order they give you a number that is on a surfboard fin which you take your seat. They also have draft beer in 10oz glasses which I guess they don't want you to get all maggoty. The food came out in 10 minutes, and for being pretty busy that was fast. We ordered the Calamari and Gummy Shark both tempura style. I guess tempura style is a euphemism for deep fried, but the batter on the calamari was very light and crispy as well as on the gummy shark. The calamari was all steak and no legs and was probably the most tender I have ever had, probably since it was fresh and the man at the counter touted that they have no freezers on the premises. The gummy shark is actually a small shark about the size of a Salmon so you don't have to worry about mercury concentrations, and anyway the water that it is caught in is pristine. The shark meat was very tender and light and was a great substitute for the traditional cod used in Fish and Chips. The chips were nice and crispy and the Asparagus salad was perfect! If Fishos was in my neighborhood, I would be going every week!

Yelp
Fresh locally caught fish served on heaps of greens and grains. Local beer on tap and wine from the local vineyards just off the great ocean road so grateful we found this spot!

Yelp
Think back to yester-years to when Fish n' Chips cost $5 and came wrapped in that day's Newspaper... FISHO'S is nothing like that !!! Fisho's is today's Fish and Chippery! Great location, an old weatherboard house renovated to an indoor/outdoor spot! Right on the esplanade, overlooking the shoreline - it doesn't get more Torquay than that! Don't go pass the Tacos - a house specialty - prepared cevichè or tempura batter style, you can't go wrong with either choice. Three FULL soft shell taco's will set you back $18 - not bad, but still $6 a taco is the market rate in cities like Melbourne :( The Box meals are pretty good value also - $63, good for 4 or more. They range from grilled or tempura battered gummy sharks (your stock fish and chip fish!) and come with the "modern" works - hand cut chips, calamari, sweet potato salad, garlic aioli, dill tartare etc.. Really simple ala-carte menu - choose your fish from their catch of the day - decide how you want it prepped and what sides it should come with. Grab a glass or bottle of Pińot Griss - a sure bet with anything "ocean". Overall... we ate there last night... we're gonna eat there tonight! A+

Yelp
The corn is now my most favorite prepared corn. Loved the flavorful and simple grilled shark and calamari grilled greens. So easy and casual and loved sitting on benches looking at the ocean.

Yelp
Locally caught sustainable fish and chips. What's not to love? I also hear they never use from frozen fish either. If the fried offerings aren't your speed, give the grilled opinion a go. The salads are extremely fresh with a unique twist. Well done fishos

Yelp
Great food, friendly management, and a view of the waves breaking toward shore. Hard to beat!

Yelp
A lovely spot to sit and enjoy a fresh and healthy lunch/dinner overlooking the ocean. Salads are sensational and the specials change daily. From Coffin Bay oysters to Ceviche, grilled Calamari to Tempura fish of the day - Fisho's know how to deliver great tasting meals (and icy cold local wine and beer!). Also a cute little play area for kids.

M K.

Yelp
Amazing food. Good service. Delicious drinks on tap (beer and cider). There is even wine available. Wonderful ambiance I'm general. Modern, trendy outdoor and indoor seating. Good tunes playing. Beautiful view of the ocean. I could keep going with the compliments, but you should just check it out for yourself. If you're not convinced to try it out by now, then nothing will please you in life.

Bibi L.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy I got to stop here for lunch on my Great Ocean Road trip. If you like corn, you must get their charred corn. It was perfectly charred with a sweetness and saltiness. I got he S&P calamari and it wasn't too battered like it normally is. It was soft and chewy. I got the grilled gummy shark and it was perfectly salted. By the time I got to the ceviche taco I was thinking they couldn't impress me anymore. Wow- the tacos were so fresh with their picked radish and combinations of sauce delight. Great job!!

Yelp
Very, very good fish, chips, squid, sweet-potato cakes... pretty much everything. Just very, very bloody expensive. I know what you're thinking... how can one drop around $100 on fish and chips to take down to the beach for lunch. That's easy... Fisho's. Eeek. Yes, you read that right. It can easily cost $100 for a family box and drinks for the family here. Now that being said, it is good. Really, very good. Tempura batter is used for everything, the chips are cooked perfectly right - every single one. The squid was frankly the best I've ever had from a fish and chip shop. I am still hung up on the cost myself... but if you're on vacation, try it anyway and worry about the bank account later. The food really is worth it.

Yelp
What happened!! I never write bad reviews.. After rave reviews we went to Fisho. Our 3 dinners arrived looking like it had been fried in sump oil. It was a Dark brown hardly inviting. The fish was very average and a bit burnt in places but the chips tasted bitter and I sent all 3 dinner back. The chef said the potatoes were out of season. If this is true why use them. They offered us another bowl of chips between us they were the same. We asked for our money back and this was refused but they said they would pass along outr complaints. REALLY.. Luke, my experience with Fisho is "the worst Fish and Chips I have ever had" I was embarrassed in front of my guests If you are thing of going there AVOID

Yelp
What a great find, thanks to Yelp. It was rainy when we reached Torquay and we walked in to a warm fire in the restaurant and a very warm welcome from one of the staff. We started with fish tacos ( amazing taste) and followed with tempura gem fish accompanied by a sweet potato salad, square cut chips and grilled corn. The salad was very tasty and included cauliflower, lettuce and cranberries. Upon recommendation, we had a local rose wine from Swan Bay: a fresh, light taste. Overall, a wonderful and relatively inexpensive ( approx $60 for two) evening. The hospitality service from staff was friendly, helpful and smooth.

Yelp
Very fresh fish. Today's fresh catch was Gummy Shark and Trevolly. Over spiced brown rice and quinoa salad.

Rosy H.

Yelp
We happened on this place on our first day in Torquay. Such a good vibe, watched the sunset in the outside area with a cold beer and ceviche fish tacos. Thanks Luke for the hospitality. Might have to end everyday here and work our way through the menu.

Marcia M.

Yelp
Thank you fellow Yelpers. This was a super spot for lunch outdoors. Cute, funky and superior food. The fish and chips were excellent and the selection of local beers was great to wash them down with.

Joe B.

Yelp
Delicious locally sourced fish! Excellent place to stop for lunch or a light dinner. Spectacular view out the front yard/picnic area.

Shelley N.

Yelp
We stopped here as we began driving the Great Ocean Road. Friendly service offering locally sourced, sustainable fish. Casual atmosphere in interesting surroundings. Good tasting lunch! We would go back to see them next time in town.

Yelp
We went to Fishos twice in two days. Awesome food, great beer on tap, friendly/knowledgeable staff. Reasonably priced. Only problem is that there isn't one in Fitzroy! Highly recommended
