Fitch Lodge - Key West Historic Inns

From the moment I arrived, this hotel exceeded every expectation and turned a simple stay into a genuinely memorable experience. The property itself is beautiful, and effortlessly comfortable — Every detail, from the atmosphere to the service, reflects care, intention, and pride. What truly elevated the stay, though, was the exceptional hospitality from Skye. She was nothing short of incredible. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, Skye’s communication was outstanding from start to finish. When confirming our stay, I mentioned that we would be arriving well before check-in and if we could store our bags. Without hesitation, she asked if we’d prefer an earlier room and what time we’d arrive. As this communication was a day before, she said that a room was already being held for when we got to the property. The room that she saved was far better than what I had expected and would specifically ask for it again. My opinion of not just Fitch Lodge, but of the whole hotel group is made by my experience with Skye. It’s rare to encounter someone who blends professionalism with such authentic friendliness, and she absolutely set the tone for the entire stay in Key West. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, offering a perfect retreat after the day. This is the kind of hotel that stays with you long after you check out—because of the people, and the feeling that you were genuinely taken care of. Thanks in large part to Skye, this stay was exceptional, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to return or recommend it to anyone looking for a truly top-tier hotel.

By far the best bang for your buck in Key West. The downtown location is perfect—right next to Downtown Bakery and Eaton Street Seafood Market, and an easy walk to Pepe’s, Half Shell Raw Bar, and Schooner Wharf. The front desk staff is pleasant, extremely nice, and genuinely helpful with anything you need. The complimentary happy hour and breakfast are a great bonus and really set this place apart. Comfortable, convenient, and welcoming—highly recommend staying here when you’re in Key West.

Very cute historic building. Our room was very quaint old Florida style. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a very nice relaxing stay. If you are looking for a historic place full of old Florida charm, I would highly recommend! We would definitely stay here again!

Great solo stay- perfect location, a few minor issues: I stayed here for a week and found the rooms small but comfortable and suitable for my needs. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Duval Street and other key spots. The grab- and - go breakfast was thoughtful, though it could use more variety for longer stays because on day 4/5 it was monotonous. *** Be aware: if you book through a third party, you might be charged additional resort fees at check in. These resort fees are standard in Florida, but not clearly stated in third party bookings. Call the resort and double check! Highly recommend doing that. The front desk was helpful in sorting it out for me. Another helpful hint to the hotel staff would be to have towels at the pool! Honestly, how can you swim without a towel? There were never any around when I went swimming. I’m still giving it five stars because it really was a charming little place to stay in a solo trip for comfort, convenience, and helpful staff.

We thought we'd be happy finding a place to stay away from Duval Street and close to the ferry port. But, for us, there were pros and cons with our stay here. Our room was nicely decorated, but it was on the small side. My wife and I had to take turns going around the bed to get to the outside door or to the bathroom. The front desk staff was nice and accommodating. I did what I could to drown out the noise, but we had a rooster that started his day at 4:30 - 5:00 am! Probably if we stayed for several days, I'd get used to his wakeup call. Being up in age, the stairs to our second floor room were a challenge especially when taking our luggage up and down. A ground floor room would have worked out better for us. Also, Eaton is a pretty busy street with its share of road noise.

Let’s start with the good things which were few. The beds are very comfortable and the bag breakfast is a cute and convenient touch. Excellent location was very walkable. Now….. the bad. After driving for 5 hours we arrived to find out that the lobby and reception closed at 6 (we arrived at 8). Nowhere on our booking or after several calls to the hotel to verify other details was this mentioned. They have a number on the front door to call or text, which we did. It took 1/2 an hour to get someone on the phone. The texts went unanswered. Finally we were told someone would be here in 5 minutes. This was a 20 minute reality. Then the room. Musty smelling and damp. Condition clearly has seen better days. Most of the lights were burned out. No drain in the sink to shave. Rusty side lamps, disgusting shower tile. Mind you we paid a normal rate and this is not a discount property. We brought our small dog for which they charge 50.00 per day in addition to an amenity fee of 45.00 per day and the room was not serviced once in 3 days. ||Safe to say this was a disappointment and not like the pictures and vibe presented online. ||Summary. Many many better options in Key West. Read reviews before booking. It helps.

Nice Hotel in Downtown Key West. 5 Min walk to the Marina and 15 to Duval. Breakfast is small but good quality and is served in a bag to be collected at the reception. There is a Coffee Shop 2 min walk in Case you want a good Cappuccino... The Pool ist small but nice for a cooling-off. The rooms facing the Pool are also very quiet ..

Room was quiet, cold, and clean. Staff was super friendly and went out of their way to make sure our family vacation was great. Location is perfect short walk to restaurants and bars.

Key West is going to be expensive -- especially in winter, especially for a nice room. Expect to pay $300 minimum for a room of any quality in the high season with premiums for a boutique hotel in a convenient location. For my money, Fitch House more than justifies its price. It's a five-minute walk from the Dry Tortugas (Yankee Freedom Terminal), which you must be at early and rested (and earlier and more rested if you hope to snag a no-show ticket). The bed is comfortable, the breakfast sumptuous, and the service excellent (thanks to Richard, Sky, Monica, and the night desk woman whose name I did not catch). In Atlanta, the price would be too high: in Key West, it's just right.

Fitch Lodge gets 3 stars because it lacks some basic conveniences that are expected when you stay in a hotel. We booked a double queen room which was essentially two separate areas with one queen in each space. Room lacked anywhere to sit other than the beds though. Who wants to sit in bed when they are eating or having just conversation or morning coffee etc? No outside common area seating either so we had to awkwardly sit on beds in separate areas to eat our take out the first night when we were too tired from travel etc to go out to dinner. speaking of coffee, there are no coffee makers in the rooms. And no microwaves but they did have two mini fridges. Our room was across the street from the lobby so if we wanted to make a cup of coffee, we had to go to the lobby or walk to the nearest restaurant, which is counter service so no refills on drip coffee. Location is decent, rent a bike and you can get everywhere pretty easily. I will say that this property is on the edge of that though. Rooms were as clean as you can get them when everything is in need of a refresh, like it's obvious that the shower has been recaulked but it really just needs to be remodeled. Tiny bathroom with very low water pressure and a pedestal sink that cannot even hold your toothbrush. This room would be way too cramped with 4 ppl. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly when we checked in and gave us ideas for food and activities. They charge separate fee for WiFi, the pool and breakfast....it was about $140 for three of us for Fri-Mon. We did not use the pool because we were too busy, and no one gave us the WiFi password so you have to ask. Breakfast was a $10 voucher to a cute little take out bakery a couple blocks down from the hotel. A nice "amenity" was the water machine that we could fill out water bottles at, really convenient and necessary for KW. Maybe at a lower price I would've been happier overall but to me it was just ok.

For the price tag the room was not worth is. Stayed in room 32, you can hear the traffic from the street and outside when the ac is not blasting. When the ac is blasting you can't hear anything but the ac noise. Also beware!!! Booked on hotels.com so repaid and they asked for cc for "incidentals" explaining it was for charge in anything you buy from front desk area (sodas beer etc) or if you leave room dirty and said temporary charge would be $50. We stayed one night barely in the room and didn't even have coffee from the front desk area which is said to be "free". Today I had a charge for $42 when I called to ask what for they now tell me it's for the "amenities" - which includes the "free" coffee and water of which we used none!!! Shady dealings with them and now trying to get that bogus bullshit charge reversed !!! Shady shady people!

We had an amazing key west trip, and our stay at the Fitch Lodge was wonderful! We were greeted by very friendly staff that took us up to our double queen bed room. Our room was very clean and perfect for our family of 4+ our dog. Clean modern white design, with very comfortable beds!! (Kids slept in till 10 the beds were that comfy!). Bathroom was large and spacious, and shower was big and great rain shower head/pressure. The pool was small, but clean- perfect ambiance for a dip after walking around key west in the heat. Breakfast vouchers for old town bakery down the street was perfect (delicious breakfast sandwiches). Would stay again, and would 100% recommend to our friends and family . Thank you Fitch!
