Yelp
** Card accepted for the Food ** ** Cash Only at the Icecream Shack ** I came here on the Saturday after Labor Day. We were on an excursion in Boothbay and HAD TO stop by here before heading back in to Boston for some lobster recommended by our friend. We arrived around 5:30pm just 30minutes before closing. There was a line and we were able to get our order in by 5:53pm (cutting it close I know!). Plenty of seating outdoors with a beautiful view of the water and the islands. It got a little spooky when the fog started coming in from the ocean. Since it was an overcast day and close to sun set the sandflies were out and huge - I was in shorts but thankfully I wasn't bitten which is shocking because I'm usually a target. We ordered from the red shack and got the lobster rolls served with Ruffles plain chips, corn, slaw as well as a haddock chowder and a new shell lobster to share. The cashier will bring out a lobster and weigh it on the scale in front of you. They take about 15-20minutes to have your order ready. By far some of the freshest lobster I've ever had. The whole lobster is boiled in salted water - I'm not sure if a lot of places do this or not but it was new to me.

Yelp
We stopped here at the recommendation of a friend and absolutely loved our experience! It's post-Labor Day so only the Lobster shack was open, but that was what we were here for. The line was daunting but it moved fast. Trust the process! Lobsters aren't any fresher than what you get here. There are picnic tables spread out in various areas for you to sit and enjoy your meal. It is one of the most peaceful settings I have experienced. They also have an ice cream shack serving Gifford brand ice cream. Portions are GENEROUS but the ice cream shack is cash only. Super friendly workers. Highly recommend!

Yelp
If you are looking for a fresh farm to table experience, look no further than Five Islands Lobster! It is a bit out of the way, but extremely worth it. There are serval shacks when you pull up, so it is important to know if you are looking for freshly steamed lobster and clams, or if you are looking for a lobster roll and chowder. Ultimately we had to get both! While in Maine, might as well gorge yourself on fresh caught lobster . The lobster is so fresh, that the fishermen pull up their boat and sell their freshly caught lobster right at the dock next to the restaurant. The red shack is where you will order fresh lobster by the pound, specials such as clams or any catch of the day. We got the twin lobster special, which are 2 identical lobsters for $24!! Your order is not called by a number or your name, but by the boat that caught the lobsters you are about to feast on! The grey shack is where the grilled items and lobster rolls are served. We thought... go big or go home. So, we both got the Big Boy Lobster Roll, which was complete unnecessary but well worth it. This footlong lobster roll was so fresh and the lobster so sweet, it was delightful. We also got the clam chowder or course, which complimented the rolls nicely. All of the tables are outside with amazing view of the Maine waters. It is hard to explain how picturesque this area is. You just have to come see it and eat it to believe it. Make your way to Five Island Lobster. I guarantee you it is worth it.

Yelp
I had the somewhat unusual experience of going here as a non-seafood eater. It's a charming little shack with lots of seafood items and a few non-seafood, with lots of tables outside on the dock so you sit right by the water. I went with my friend on a gorgeous Sunday at noon and the line was pretty long but moved quickly. I'd say we stood in line for about 15 minutes and waited another 10 or so for our orders to be called. We managed to find a place to sit for the two of us but it would have been difficult with a bigger group. I ordered the veggie burger and split onion rings with my friend. The veggie burger was ok - the patty itself seemed to be rice-based and was rather flavorless, but I'm not surprised that vegetarian food isn't their forte. It came with chips, though I could have upgraded to fries for $2. The onion rings were amazing - perfectly crispy with a flavorful batter. It was definitely worth the visit for the ambiance and the onion rings, even if the veggie burger was a little lacking.

Yelp
Beautiful view, clams were great. Fried haddock sandwich was flimsy, and could have used more dredging, before fry. Onion rings were doughy and slightly undercooked in spots(would not order again). I prefer the lighter crunchy fry shack style, which is available at many NE summer spots. The French fries seemed shack made and were better than average, they come with the clams. Would definitely order the clams again, but would forgo the other items and get twin lobsters etc from the steamer hut. We saw a couple people with cans of beer but didn't find anywhere to purchase. Not sure if it's legal to bring your own? That's definitely a question I have before we go back. There are picnic tables all around. I brought water and soda from our car. There is no proper bathroom to wash your hands. So you may want to bring wet wipes if things are messy.

Yelp
Best on Maine coastal lobster and seafood shack experiences! Two options: lobster only, or seafood shack adjacent. Five islands lobster has the best twin lobster price on the coast at $23. Order inside, they'll call your order when ready, and enjoy your dinner on the wharf picnic tables overlooking the local harbor. Great deal. The seafood takeout space next door is equally good- one of the best fried full belly clams I've had, and the onion rings are fabulous. Check it out!

Yelp
Absolutely the perfect Maine spot to have a lobster roll, amazing onion rings and amazing time with your family! The regular lobster roll has the perfect amount of fresh Maine lobster. We prefer it with just some good melted butter to taste the sweet taste lobster has. The onion rings are my absolute favorite and you get a lot of them!! The fish and chips is a perfect filling meal. We will be back for sure!!

Yelp
Went here around 3pm today and it did not disappoint. We got fried whole belly clams to share and they were delicious. We also got grilled haddock sandwiches and I highly recommend the mustard dill with it, it was also delicious. Seafood is fresh and made well here, I would love to come back. The service was fast and friendly and there is lots of nice outdoor seating. Definitely come here on a nice day, the view is beautiful.
google avatar

Yelp
Location is quite impressive. Seafood choices are very fresh. You can get fresh lobster (cooked or take home) right from the water. My family got the lobster roll, homemade onion rings, and Jenny's special (with the mustard dill sauce, which was packed with great flavor). I'm not a big fan of food from the ocean, but that lobster roll may have changed my mind. Staff is friendly and helpful. Views from the deck are impressive.

Yelp
This place has really grown on me over the years of visiting. The scallops are really good (lightly fried) and I finally tried the big boy lobster roll (a bit pricey but it's HUGE and has .5 lb meat). I even got a really soft hoodie this time. Definitely splurged this year but it was worth it. Ice cream is good as usual though I think the portion sizes shrunk. We also bought some cooked soft shell lobsters to bring back to NJ, and the price wasn't too bad. Prices have been steadily going up every year (everywhere, not just here).

Yelp
The absolute best place in Maine for lobster AND onion rings! I've been coming here for since I was a kid and it's remained stellar food and experience. With plenty of outdoor picnic tables overlooking the water and Maine islands, this lobster shack is perfect for a messy family dinner or a nice meal off the boat. Make sure to stop by the ice cream shed after your meal for a sweet treat! You can even enjoy a short stroll down the road to the gift shop. Quick notes: - Lobster and onion rings are a MUST. The fried clams are amazing too. - Guy Fieri has been here for his show even! - get there early for onion rings because they do tend to sell out :) - soft shell lobster is sweeter than hard shell - get your lobster in the red lobster shack. All other food like fish and chips are in the snack shack. - parking at the pier or up the road a little bit by the pond - very dog friendly

Yelp
Awesome lobster place in Georgetown. Lobster roll was the best evah. The lobster boats come and unload their catch right on the dock in front of you, one right after another. There was a boat that caught a huge tuna and was unloading it onto a truck. This is the real deal and the real maine. Prices are very good. They have a menu board that changes daily. Sandwiches, fish, lobster etc. Lobster dinners steamed. Great staff. Fun place. Nothing fancy at all, picnic tables to eat at, port o potties for bathrooms. Clean though. Rocks to climb on. Large docks with scenic views. The best.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
First off, you won't find a better view, no matter the price you spend on lunch. The haddock portions aren't huge, but big enough to be filling. My daughter got the chicken fingers, which WAS a huge portion for the price! It was all very tasty. The kids working the counter were all very friendly, and we watched the waterman carry a fresh catch up the dock. Can't get better quality than that!

Yelp
What more could you ask for from a Maine lobster experience? Perfect location, delicious and fresh food, happy times all around.

Yelp
Cheap ingredients, overpriced, mediocre service, small portions, weird customer attitudes. This is a supposed hidden gem, but Down East Magazine took care of that. Let's start with the drive. It's in the middle of a neighborhood on the water. The locals will practically push you off the road for traveling the speed limit. Once there, good luck with parking. Going there during low tide is NOT recommended. However, the view is picturesque. Being burned out on fried fast sea food, I thought I'd try the steak and cheese. It's a chopped hamburger and certainly not steak and it was $11. The lobster roll is lump meat and $25 for 4oz of lobster. It comes with a very small side of frozen fries. There are better lobster rolls in much more accessible areas. Fish and chips is $18 and you get one piece of fish. There seemed to be an inordinate amount of people posturing and making sure people overheard their conversations. If you want to brag and show off, go to Coachella. I can't forget the screaming. They don't just announce the names, they scream them repeatedly at the top of their lungs. I don't know if it's a gimmick or if the average customer is that aloof. Overall, it's a tourist trap with attitudes. You'd be better served heading north to Wiscasset and waiting at Red's Eats.

Yelp
TLDR: Great clams/haddock. Beautiful view (windy road). Bring TP for portable bathrooms. Would return! Finally made it here (after years of coming to Maine but somehow never making it to Five Islands), and it was definitely worth the wait!!! We had the haddock and the clams. Neither disappointed in the least, other than portion size which seems to be what a lot of people feel like. One thing I was not fully prepared for was just how nice the view was even on a very cloudy day! It's a pleasant drive from route 1, very curvy and varying speeds but that's the deal when driving on many of Maine's Islands/Peninsulas (I call them fingerlings for some reason-maybe cause they are like fingers justing down into the sea?). Pro-tip: Have some TP in your pocket if using the port-o's. She noticed no TP (lucky she was just peeing and had tissues in her pocket). We didn't do the lobster as my gf has an allergy...even the clams were risky but we tested it slowly while she at the Haddock. Good news, she can eat clams!!!

Yelp
Quaint views. Food, not so tasty. Maybe go for desert. They have ice cream. The typical lobster roll. Bread cold. This is not as tasty as many of the other local choices. Very pleasant servers.
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
Pretty darned good boiled seabug! It's a tourist thing, but it's fun and pleasant. Maybe not for the lobstah, sure they'd prefer to not be boiled to death and eaten. But for the humans it's fun and tasty.

Yelp
Best lobster roll as well as least expensive I have found Outdoor setting with view of fishing boats Friendly staff despite their busyness
google avatar

Thomas N.

Yelp
Food good. Impressive kitchen activity, assembly line preparing the lobster! Appreciated the tables under cover as the sun was hot!

Michelle M.

Yelp
The freshest lobster in New England. Go there for the best lobster rolls and an authentic experience of getting lobster fresh from the fisherman. Don't go when it's raining as there are no indoor seating spots.

Yelp
I loved this place. Beautiful surroundings and the food was great. We had an assortment of things from the menu and we all loved what we got.

Bob D.

Yelp
Lobster roll was outstanding! Had the fried clams the next day and was sorely disappointed.

Yelp
GEORGETOWN, ME / LOBSTER, SEAFOOD / 08-12-21 / LUNCH +Fresh Maine lobsters and amazing view! +Get the new shell (soft shell) lobster, it's sweeter and more tender than hard shell. +The steamed clams are excellent; they give you a broth to dip them in. +The view alone is four stars. +Grab a bottle of Moxie, order a couple boiled lobsters and chow down in the cool breeze at one of the picnic tables. +The pricing is great. I noticed a lot of locals coming by to buy their lobsters, as well. This is a must-visit if you're on a Maine food tour!
google avatar

Jerry S.

Yelp
Great lobster on a working dock. It's a non-frills place with picnic tables and it's BYOB. Beautiful view of the harbor
google avatar

Greg L.

Yelp
Scallop baskets - freshest scallops anywhere. the lobster rolls are delicious and fairly priced! And what a view!
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
Generous portions of lobster on the lobster roll, for the price it's pretty good. There is a larger seating area and a smaller seating (4-5 double benches) area off to the side. We came around 5:30-6pm, and there was a moderately long wait on line and some time to wait and find seats. Many tourists on the line too. Overall, it was very calming and relaxing to eat our delicious lobster rolls with such a great calming view!

Nancy C.

Yelp
Great food, fast friendly services. Best lobster rolls in southern Maine!! A true can't miss place to eat while on vacation in Maine.
google avatar

Judie O.

Yelp
The lobster roll was excellent; the haddock chowder did not have a lot of fish or potatoes (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). Perhaps because it was the last day they were serving this year. The price was right -- even the boiled lobsters seemed affordable, although we did not order one. You buy your lobster, potato and coleslaw separately and pay for the lobbies by the pound -- the old time lobster pound way. Coleslaw tasted homemade and was not too sweet. The view was among the best for a lobster pound! Gorgeous!! Lots of tables. You can bring your dog. What could be better? Will definitely return next year when we are in the area.

Yelp
Hands down the most solid 5 stars I can give. Five Islands Lobster Company is quite possibly one of my most favorite places on earth. From the most delicious, fresh steamers (steamed clams) to incredible lobster rolls to fresh steamed lobster boils... You just can't go wrong. It is BYOB, YES BRING YOUR OWN BOOZE! You can also bring your own side dishes and desserts etc. The views alone are worth 10 stars. Water views for days! This is quite possibly the most picturesque location in Maine. From the rigid and rocky coastline, to the lobster boats floating by. Nothing I say will do this place justice so just go. Do yourself a favor and GO!
google avatar

Jared S.

Yelp
Come for the sick view!!! Lobster rolls are good, not great. Just the perfect spot for a truly Maine afternoon.
google avatar

Betty M.

Yelp
Beside the waiting line and the waiting to pickup our orders were so long, but when I received my double deck crab cakes sandwich, my gosh, it's was so tiny and dry. It was not fresh crab meat at all. The lobster roll was good but it was not was I expected and little lobster meat.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
When it comes to Lobster Rolls you need to go big or go hungry! Five Islands offers the go big option and that's what I had. My wife had the "normal" roll. You can see from the pictures the difference. We also had the clam chowder and that was excellent. The scenery is classic Maine harbor with rocky islands, lobster boats, plenty of sea birds and a large pier with plenty of seating. We waited a bit for our food but that was fine. We had a small cooler with some beer to relax with. The people are very friendly, there's plenty of parking and all in all this is a great spot. It's a bit of a drive to get here and you'll want to use your GPS but it's a nice drive and well worth the trip. Five Islands is one of my top choices for a Lobster Roll in Maine! Go see for yourself and definitely get the big boy!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
What can I say about 5 islands that has not already been said? I have eaten here on sunny days, snowy days, rainy days, the worst days that turn into the best days, why?... well lobster of course! At a shack by the sea, with lobster traps on the deck, buoys in the distance, and the sound of laughter.... you have to go to experience this little gem at the end of a winding road, you will not regret the deliciousness of fresh lobster, steamed in the water they were caught in, meat so sweet in tender you can hold the butter.....wait, what, never hold the butter and ask for the bib, enjoy!
google avatar

Keith V.

Yelp
One of the best fried clam places in Maine. The view is great eating out on the dock. My only downside is the portions are smaller then some other places.

Justin L.

Yelp
The lobster was amazing considering the price. You might be spending up to 90 minutes waiting and eating here, but I highly recommend. The pier is very scenic and full of life. When we went, they were loading this massive tuna into a truck! During my visit, they were offering two smaller lobsters for $24. Not sure if this is a permanent thing but definitely take advantage of this if you are into that sort of thing!
google avatar

Taylor P.

Yelp
Awesome fresh food. Extremely reasonable prices. They had gf options as well. The fish and chips were delicious. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Gary S.

Yelp
Great really authentic Maine seafood joint. Note that the hours on Yelp are way off. They are open most days until 8 pm. There are three shacks to order from. One has all the fried stuff and lobster rolls. Another has the steamed (and fresh) lobsters, corn on the cop, potatoes and steamers. So if you want fried clams or a lobster roll AND corn, it's two different windows to order. There is also a different shack that is just ice cream. Very casual - no indoor seating- you pick up your order and sit at a picnic table. Gorgeous setting right in the harbor. We were staying just on the other side of this island so this was perfect. Food was excellent - not cheap, but that's to be expected. We has fried clams and fried oysters, onion rings and Cole slaw (our daughter had the chicken tenders which were actually great!) Throw the diet out the window when you eat here...
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
One of the best lobster rolls on the Maine coast. Enjoyed the fried scallops and haddock chowder too. Very friendly and efficient staff. Complete with an incredibly picturesque setting.

Yelp
Five Islands Lobster Co is right at the end of Sheepscot Bay with an active fishing wharf. Because the lobsters are pulled right from the surrounding waters, this place has always been listed as one of the best places in Maine to get lobster. There are 3 separate buildings - one for fried seafood and lobster rolls; one for steamed seafood; and, one for ice cream (called Annabelle's Ice Cream). Depending on what you want, you have to stand at each respective lines. It's definitely more strategic if you have at least 3 of you, so that each can stand in line to order the items. We ordered: The "Big Boy" Lobster Roll (stuffed 'twice' amount of the lobster meat in a homemade potato roll, with a touch of mayo; it was definitely a generous portion of the lobster, but I felt that it was missing something; the lobster itself wasn't as sweet and flavorful as I thought it would be); and, a twin lobster special, each about 1.25 pounds. We were a little disappointed that the fried belly clams were sold out, so you definitely have to come here earlier! I heard that those who are non-seafood eaters, their steak and cheese is pretty delicious; I'd like to try that out the next time! Besides the 3 main 'food groups' Five Islands offer, there are also shirts and stickers you can purchase. There are a handful of picnic tables, and people can BYOB as well as bring their fur babies. You definitely don't come here for the views or for a white napkin type of a meal, but it's definitely a place for you to just get your grub on. Unmarked parking spots available up the hill. +fried belly clams run out FAST +3 separate 'shacks' for 3 different items - steamed lobster, rolls/fried seafood, and ice cream +unmarked spots for your vehicle +BYOB +can bring your fur babies
google avatar

Yelp
If you want fresh, tender lobster without any filler this is the lobster roll you have been searching for. Delicious crispy French fries too. Only outside seating so dress accordingly. Beautiful views of ocean, islands and a lighthouse just to add a little atmosphere.
google avatar

Simon W.

Yelp
Out of many shacks I've tried on a recent trip, Five Islands falls behind by a hair, but the race was super close. First the steamed lobster was ordered a la carte, you state what kind, hard or soft shell and choose your size, under 1 1/4, 1 1/4- 2, over 2lbs. The sides are extra, for example, corn or potatoes for a couple dollars more. They also provide crackers you to use as long as you bring them back after you use them. There was a $4 deposit for their safe return. The Lobster was deliciously steamed and served with butter. The steamed clams were about 25-30 in the order. These were fresh and definitely tasty. These clams came with a water wash and another small tub of butter. The Jenny special, a crab cake on top of a grilled Haddock with slice of lettuce/pickles on the side with chips. This came with a cilantro mayonnaise that was good enough for me to continue dipping my fries into. Finally the lobster roll was accompanied with chips. This lobster roll fell behind a few others on the trip although delicious in its own right. The bun was a bit light on toasting, either that or it sat too long behind the counter. The views from the dock are unbelievable. You can see boats come up and unload their lobster catch right in front of you. Nothing better than see that the lobster you are eating just came off the boat. I'm sure the reader is wondering why not 5 stars if the food is fresh/great and the views unbelievable. Well here we go, there is a somewhat complicated setup for ordering your steamed fare (whole lobsters / steamers) versus everything else. There are two lines to navigate as a result if you want both. I had to wait on one line for the lobster/steamed clams first, then get on another to order the lobster roll, sandwiches/rolls and anything fried. I understand that perhaps you can't have them in the same hut, but there wasn't anything to inform the customer where to stand to order what. I had to ask a local waiting on line for the instructions. Another downer is that they were out of a few items I was interested in like fried oysters and scallops right after noon on a holiday weekend. Parking is also really tight and painful. There is a lot further away I think but again, no signage to indicate that before you get up to the dock and need to uturn in tight quarters. Five Islands does output great food and I would not have to be convinced really hard to come back, if anything I would come earlier to avoid the sell outs and parking issues.

Yelp
As we were leaving Reid State Park, I decided to go right instead of left hoping the the road would end at the Sea and we would get some nice views of the coast. We got waaay more than we bargained for at this place! After driving through a small village, the road ended at a dock on a small harbor and on the dock was this place and some picnic tables. There was actually 3 buildings, one for ice cream, one for some fried seafood (including a reasonably priced fried clam basket that looked very tempting) and then the last building featuring live or cooked lobsters, steamers, corn and Cole slaw. And talk about atmosphere! This was a working dock so boats were coming in as we were sitting there taking it all in. I had the steamers-cooked to perfection and very sweet and she had a new shell lobster. For food quality and view, this will be my new go to when people from away come for a visit and you want to show off the best that Maine has to offer!

Yelp
Amazing lobster and lobster rolls. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the beautiful views made for a peaceful atmosphere. We went early at 4pm which seemed ideal since there weren't any lines and we had our food within 15 minutes.

Yelp
This is probably 3.5 stars to me after trying a couple of other places. It's enjoyable, but I preferred the lobster rolls I had elsewhere. That said, I'm rounding up due to the setting and to Annabelle's Ice Cream. The Five Islands Lobster Company is situated in rugged buildings on a working lobster wharf in a beautiful setting, with coastal houses on one side and a bay filled with boats and islands on the other. The complex includes a place to order whole, steamed lobsters (as well as corn-on-the-cob and potatoes), a place to order sandwiches and baskets/platters, and an outpost of Annabelle's Ice Cream shop. (There may also be a snack shop, although I didn't see anyone head up to it while I was there.) You order wherever you'd like, get a number, and then settle into one of the picnic tables -- mostly large and communal -- scattered all around; the staff will yell out your number when your food's ready to pick up. The food is at the usual level of priciness, but you get a hefty amount of very fresh and tasty lobster on a fluffy, flavorful roll, both with only minimal amounts of butter and mayo. (At least not enough of the latter to stand out.) The fries are thick and flavorful. Annabelle's ice cream was excellent! Full of flavor, with large servings at a great price. The staff members were wonderful, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable (about the food as well as the wider area).

Yelp
I don't know what I can add about this perfect lobster place. It's is simple and delicious. We both ordered the lobster roll which came with potato chips. It was full of sweet meat with the perfect amount of mayonnaise. We sat outside and watched boats. It was nice without a complex menu.

Yelp
Great lobster pound type place right on the water in Georgetown. This is a family owned business and they are wonderful people. I got a 3.5 lb beast of a lobster that was cooked to perfection. My family got the fried clams, scallops, onion rings, fries... Everything was perfect. The setting is beautiful... what more could you ask for? Don't forget to get Annabells amazing ice cream! My favorite was Graham Central Station! 5 Stars!

Andrea J.

Yelp
Great, fresh seafood!! Lobster rolls were amazing and the pier is very scenic! Would recommend!

Yelp
Worth the drive. Great rolls. Solid fries. Amazing views. No fuss, low key greatness.
