We came to Five Sails to celebrate my wife's birthday and the food and service was impeccable, especially given our particular request. We had asked to meet Chef Alex during our visit, having rooted for him on Top Chef Canada. He was away when we came but the restaurant made up for it by giving us one of the best dining experiences we've ever had in our 15 years together, which we really value as we like to travel and try out restaurants a lot. First, the food was amazing. My wife and I are prone to becoming full very quickly, but we went through an amuse bouche with bread service, appetizer, main course, and three desserts feeling very comfortable and not bloated. Everything tasted amazing with really nice textures too. Bread was buttery and fluffy, proteins were tender and tasty, and desserts were so light and balanced. I think our only criticism was the taste from the filet mignon tartare came more from the crostini than from the meat. What tied everything together was the customer service. We were served by William and felt like we were treated like VIP. We agreed that even some Michelin-starred restaurants we've been to didn't give us service this professional. The chef that evening met with us and treated us to a delicious bite on top of our order. The assistant manager also checked in with us a few times over the course of the evening, helped pull our chairs every time we had to take a quick break, gave a complimentary birthday dessert to my wife, and helped us take pictures. We overheard a bit of conversation from the table behind us and think they noticed the service we were getting and was asking the staff about it. We were probably lucky though as it wasn't busy when we were there and staff had capacity. This very quickly became our favourite restaurant in Vancouver. We can't wait to come back.

My girlfriend chose Five Sails for her special birthday occasion. Neither us is had frequented this restaurant before. I have to say, from start to fishing, all staff were exceptional with their professionalism and friendly manner. The guest service lady was great, our hostess was great and explained the menu in full, they offered us to wait a few minutes so we could have a window seat which was thoughtful. Then we had the pleasure of being served by the only person I got the name of, Antoine Santini who went over the wine selection with us. He explained in detail and chose the perfect bottle of wine, decanted and kept our glasses full when they became low through the evening. A very charming and hospitable man that made the evening exceptional. I highly recommend Five Sails restaurant. The food was spectacular, the service exceptional, the atmosphere wonderful… need I say more?

We visited the restaurant with a reservation, for celebrating my father-in-law’s birthday. Expecting some higher end food with high price tags, we did not disappoint and I think that’s the most important thing. We had drinks, appetizers, great bread, amazing entrees and great desserts. We would revisit on a special occasion simply due to the price tags, but we left with satisfaction so I’d recommend diners to give it a try here!

What an amazing Christmas eve experience. Every dish showcased the ingredients in a beautiful way. Nothing was decorative and each element on the dish added to creating harmony without any part being overpowering. The softness of the honey glazed truffle brioche, followed by the umami explosion of the califlower egg custard topped with crab and ikura, then the deep flavour of the lobster bisque paired with the smokey and softness of seared Hokkaido scallops with egg jelly inside for a touch of richness, shifting to a refreshing veal and fricase salad with tuna mayo sauce inspired by a classic Italian dish, then landing with the main course of perfectly cooked proteins paired with rich sauces and buttery sweet veggetables, and finally rounding out the meal with a play of textures in the dessert. It was a lot of food and we didn't feel it was too greasy by the end -hats off to the balance of the plates and the food journey. The drinks selection had a large range of festive cocktails with the option to make any of them a mocktail. They also have a good range of wines to choose from. I was happy to be able to have a demi-sec Champagne as this is less of a popular choice. Our server, Martina, was lovely and provided us with impeccable service throughout. Her warm and friendly personality added an extra festive twinkle in our experiemce. The sommalier also went out of his way to grab a bottle of the Beaujoulais from their sister restaurant from downstairs for us. We really appreciate your efforts in giving us such great service. Then, of course, the view! Nothing beats having an excellent food adventure with loved ones looking at an expansive ocean view lite with twinkling lights of the North Shore. We were lucky to also get the private room and was able to enjoy the ambience to the fullest. Thank you to the entire Five Sails team for making our night so special and memorable~ we will definitely be back and recommend to everyone we know. No wonder you are one of the top 5 restaurants in Canada.

I've done the tasting menu a couple of times at Five Sails, always an incredible experience! Amazing view, spectacular service, and the menu is always inventive. I particularly enjoyed the most recent tasting menu this November. I liked the touch of putting the inspiration vegetable on the table before each serving! Chef Alex Kim has outdone himself with this one. Kei really did an exceptional job with the sommelier signature pairing this time as well, they were all very unique and interesting to match the course, as well as tasting amazing. Can't forget Martina! She has served me both times and did an exceptional job of explaining the courses and zipping in and out as needed. What a lovely person! Thank you for the exceptional experience, and can't wait for the next menu!

Five Sails was one of most exceptional experiences I've had in Vancouver. William made my partner's birthday experience one to remember. From having the best view of the waterfront, being treated like we were the only ones there, and the perfect meal, we felt like we entered a place where all our worries disappeared. This night is hard to top. Thank you Five Sales for a great evening. Thank you William for being so attentive and accommodating. It truly felt special.

I wanted to Celebrate my Partners Birthday here. From the moment we walked in. We were greeted by the wonderful Host. The Manager Ellie and the Sommelier Sara greeted us and welcomed us to our table. Great Start to a wonderful experience. Jesse took care of us the whole time. He recommended the Sea Bass which was divine. Annika, Ofelia, and Remi were very knowledgeable and explained the dishes as they brought them out. Antonio the Bartender and his creation on the cocktails. Great cocktails. Chef Alex Kim menu this fall season is wonderful. I always recommend people go to Five Sail. Five Sails deserves a Michelin Star!!! Thank you everyone at Five Sails for the Amazing Experience!!!
