We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Five Sails! From the moment we arrived, our host Esther made us feel so special. She was putting so much care into every detail to ensure we had a memorable evening. It was my birthday, and the team surprised me with a beautiful birthday dessert plate that made the night even more meaningful. We chose the course menu, and every dish was both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. Chef Alex Kim went above and beyond, even taking the time to greet us and give us a peek inside the kitchen, which was such a thoughtful touch. The entire staff’s kindness and attention to detail truly stood out. This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special night out in Vancouver!

I had the pleasure of dining at Five Sails and it was truly an unforgettable evening. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The food was exceptional—each dish beautifully presented and full of flavor, a perfect balance of creativity and finesse. What really elevated the experience was the outstanding service. Our host, Jesse, and the manager went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless, from start to finish. They even helped celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday in the most thoughtful way, which made the evening all the more special. The combination of fine cuisine, attentive service, and the team’s genuine hospitality made for a memorable night. I would highly recommend Five Sails to anyone looking for a premium dining experience in Vancouver.

We visited Five Sails to celebrate my birthday, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement before the meal. The service was genuinely warm and welcoming — our server, originally from Spain, was friendly, chatty, and made us feel at ease. The restaurant’s view is definitely its highlight, offering a stunning panorama of the harbour, especially beautiful at sunset. However, the food did not quite meet our expectations. While the presentation was elegant, the flavors were average. Overall, if you’re looking for a place with excellent service and breathtaking views for a special occasion, Five Sails is worth a visit, but if food is your top priority, you might leave slightly disappointed.

Five Sails changes their menu completely by their Head Chef Alex Kim, Top Chef winner of 2025. They are pleasantly surprised. Reservation requires a deposit to avoid no show. As we walked in the restaurant we were greeted by the host and take us to our usual table. The new restaurant manager Ellie also came to greet us at our table with explanations and introductions to their new menu. Overall the dishes are prepared with great attention to detail and gastronomy. They are well presented and pleasing to the eyes! I asked for low sodium diet and they have noted to offer in our future visits. There are some minor servicing details where the restaurant manager demonstrates the eagerness to listen and continue to improve and enhance the dinning experience. The restaurant decor is elegant and refined. The background music could be a little bit softer and I personally prefer music to songs. Overall we thoroughly enjoy tonight’s dinning experience and have made an upcoming reservation to celebrate my birthday next month. This restaurant is definitely back to our to-go lists in celebration.

Had an awesome time at Five Sails with my Dad. He took me there to celebrate my birthday and I got to meet Chef Alex Kim in the kitchen! We got our picture taken and everything. It was really cool. Our server Jesse was the man! Wren, Josie, and Steven, the entire staff, were all amazing as well. The food and the vibe was great the entire time and definitely a once in a life time type of experience.

This place was absolutely incredible! My husband and I flew into Vancouver to celebrate our 20th anniversary and decided to dine at Five Sails, and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Every bite showcased Chef Kim’s genius-from the crab custard with brioche, to the scallops and corn appetizer, the perfectly cooked halibut, and the incredible burnt honey cake. Our server Jesse was outstanding. He was personable, attentive, and so thoughtful with our dietary restrictions. He even invited Chef Kim to our table after seeing how impressed we were, which made the evening extra special. Between the phenomenal food, gorgeous ocean views, and world-class service, our dinner at Five Sails was truly the highlight of our trip. We loved it so much that we’re already planning to visit Chef Kim’s other restaurant, Glowbal, before we leave town. Thank you, Five Sails team, for an unforgettable anniversary dinner!

We came to Five Sails to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The waterfront and mountain views were absolutely stunning, setting the perfect scene for a special evening. The food was Michelin-level – we had beef tartare to start, followed by filet mignon and lamb loin. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The service was attentive and professional, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which made us feel special. The price was fair for the quality and overall experience. A couple of things could be improved: we had to wait 15 minutes for our table, even though we arrived exactly on time for our reservation. Also, the music didn’t quite match the elegant setting – a more classic lounge vibe would be more fitting. That said, the volume was just right and didn’t interfere with conversation.

My partner and I celebrated our 3yr Anniversary and they made it Extra Special and memorable. Foods are on-point and delicious. Service is great and they explained each food very well. Ambiance is so relaxing especially they gave us the table with a nice view. My partner was craving to salad but there’s nothing on the menu so I asked if they have it available. Esther went to the kitchen to confirm with the chef and they made it possible. My partner was so happy. I’d like to acknowledge the Restaurant Director Alex, our waitress Esther who goes above and beyond - not sure where she’s getting her energy, Chris, the receptionist who called and confirmed my reservation forgot her name but she greeted us gracefully when my partner and I came in, and the Chefs for the job well done. Great job! 👏🏻 We will surely be coming back.
