This place has great views of Lake Oswego as it is on the second floor. The shrimp and spring roll appetizers were very tasty. The spring roll sauce is a bit spicy so watch out. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection - nice and golden color which I like to see. Fish was rock fish which I had like this for the first time. It really works and tastes amazing. I finished off with the lovely Lemon Posset. It was nice and lemony as expected but also very smooth and creamy. I could have another one for sure as it was really light. The raspberry coulis was a great choice. Drip coffee was also tasty. In some places unfortunately coffee quality is ignored, which leaves a bad taste in your mouth as you leave-here it was great. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I liked his eye for detail while serving and clearing up. No small mess was left behind. He also adjusted the portions of the starters to be enough for 6 people without us reminding him. Great job! I would gladly visit this restaurant again. It is on my good list of places 😉

Five stars for 5 Spice! We’ve stopped in twice in the past week, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorite go-to spots in Lake Oswego. This isn’t just a fun place to go—it’s a place with real energy. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, the staff is genuinely friendly, and even the other patrons are a pleasure to be around. Both times we sat at the bar, which is a perfect place to strike up conversations and take in the vibe. The happy hour menu? Fantastic. I had the spring rolls with a bright, flavorful mango sauce that I’m still thinking about, and the calamari came with a deliciously creamy aioli that was spot-on. The cocktail I had was light, sunny, and just right for the warm day—wish I could remember the name, but it was a winner. The menu is fresh, the service is consistently excellent, and let’s not forget the stunning view of the lake—it really elevates the entire experience. Highly recommend 5 Spice whether you’re grabbing a casual drink or settling in for a great meal. It’s a gem.

We've been here 3 times this summer and it has been hit or miss. I've been here for weekday lunch and Friday dinner. Both times we were impressed by the food (taste and portions), and service. Enjoyed eating indoors at the bar and also on the outdoor patio with great views of the lake. A stellar and unique experience! Based on those prior experiences, I decided to bring my parents here for their anniversary celebration on a Sunday evening and we had a poor experience that one time. I felt totally embarrassed that I brought them here. We were seated with half of our table (and party) in direct sun on the patio - no shade on one side. We were initially given 1 food menu for our entire table and it took 40 minutes for our drinks to come out (just water, sodas, and juice) and over an hour for the complimentary bread to make it to our table. Once the food came, it was all delicious as usual, however. Our server was courteous and helpful when they were available. We really like this place overall, just have gotten inconsistent experiences here. Hard to recommend given the price point and inconsistency, but when it has gone well we've really really enjoyed dining here.

Google
We had a wonderful dinner here. The squid was good but not spicy. Salads were very great with a variety of materials. The fish stew was very good, The lentil main dish was terrific with a lentil base with roasted vegetables and mushrooms on top. We hadn't visited for some time, but we will be back.

I have been wanting seafood for a while. I am so thrilled that this is where we went. If it wasn't for me on a date I would have taken pictures. The diver scallops were absolutely scrumptious, is the only one eating oysters that evening I was pleased that they were not excessively large. My date had the salmon and said it was perfect. The service was absolutely excellent through appetizer, dinner and dessert. The atmosphere of the restaurants was exceptionally suitable for a date night and the location made it a lovely place to go for a stroll after our dinner.

Google
Absolutely wonderful lunch. Food and service both impeccable The grilled salmon was one of the best I've ever had- my picky palate was so happy! Food was beautifully presented. A best pick for our anniversary celebration - we will be back

Google
Really enjoyed our entire experience for dinner here. Service was great, waiter was extremely attentive and friendly and the food was outstanding. Ordered quite a few small plates / appetizers, loved the poke and spring rolls. The Brussel sprouts with pork belly are a must and our favorite entree was the stuffed salmon. We were too full for dessert but need to come back to try!

Google
Staff was amazing with us when we explained it was our first time there. Waitress was very patient with my teens and naturally explained the menu/choices. She made time to ask about our day and small talk. I loved how attentive she was with our table, even with how busy it was. Generous food portions and it exceeded our satisfaction on flavor(s). Cocktails were average pricing (8-12.00) and did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went for lunch. Got the squid and Brussels sprouts as appetizers as well as the blackened salmon salad for the meal. We enjoyed everything that we got. We enjoyed the pairing of the Brussels sprouts and the vinaigrette/pork belly bits and the squid was crusted and calamari like served with a spicy mayo sauce. Salmon was flavorful and cooked well, salad could have been better if it had an assortment of greens it was mostly spinach. Service was friendly, nice views of the water it being on the second level. Options of staircase or elevator to get upstairs.

Yelp
The food at Five Spice was absolutely amazing -- beautifully plated and full of flavor. Every dish we had was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. If we were rating on food alone, this would easily be a 5-star review. Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown and really overshadowed the experience. Our server was an older lady and she never refilled our waters or drinks. When it came time for dessert, we were simply handed menus without being asked if we were even interested. At a fine dining restaurant, that's just not the level of service you expect. What really stood out was watching the table behind us get asked -- halfway through their main course -- if they'd like to order a soufflé early due to the prep time. We weren't offered the same courtesy, so we ended up waiting longer than we should have. We brought our in-laws visiting from Connecticut and were hoping to give them a memorable dining experience. While the food delivered, the lack of attentive service was disappointing and left us feeling like an afterthought. Great kitchen. Disconnected front of house. Hoping they can close that gap.

Yelp
First impression of Five Spice when eating at 5: there are a lot of seniors haha. Toward the end of our meal, our poor server had to deal with a group of older ladies trying to blame her for something but she handled it patiently and professionally in the best way possible. This was my first time trying sturgeon and it has a chicken consistency. It didn't really taste like anything but the pepper and buttery carmelized mushroom and onions made the fish better. Ive never had a wild rice risotto and it wasn't too much. Stuffed salmon: can't taste the Brie much but the crab flavor was rlly good. Crispy rolls were fine. The breading on the calamari wasnt the best. Overall, it's a a solid place for a nicer meal.

Yelp
Thanks to the team at 5 spice for a wonderful final evening of 2024. I really enjoyed my Steve McQueen cocktail and Starburst IPA. What a combo! While service and mixology by Jennifer was memorable and would make me return to the bar, I do have some thoughts of the food. The shrimp cocktail was perfect as is. The ahi poke was kind of skimp on the fish. Delicious - but mostly avocado. My seafood stew could use a more memorable broth. A little bland. My wife loved her Scallops and it was awesome how the food runner specifically listed what was not gluten free when dropping off our dishes. All in all the interior and vibe is very charming to keep your partner or friends impressed and thankfully it's not too loud. We will def return. I keep hearing their happy hour is awesome.

Yelp
I've been to Five Spice many times. Always good. Went to lunch with a couple of friends this week. Shared the open face crab and shrimp menu with a friend and added a cup of soup. The view of the lake is always great and service good. Sorry o ate some soup before I took the picture!

Yelp
This gem can be found in downtown Lake Oswego just off Main Street, although you do need to look for it as it's a bit hidden. Once you find it, it's easy to remember and parking is great. Happy Hour is a really great time to check it out for a first try but I guarantee you will go back again and again. The food is abundant, delicious, and super reasonably priced. Service is exceptional. Do make a reservation though and request a view of the Lake, which is lovely regardless of the season. Food: the Happy Hour salad of mixed greens is ample enough to share, the warm bread and butter is a must, the shrimp/prawn appetizer is also shareable, though you might want to keep it to yourself! Yum!! I'll include a picture of my Happy Hour Hamburger without the burger, just extra cheese and tomato.

Yelp
The wait was a bit long but we didn't have a reservation. We did get an outdoor table on their balcony. Perfect!!! It was a sunny and the view was beautiful. The wait staff were kind and attentive. The food was prepared fairly quickly. The star of all of our dishes was the train tail lobster. Our first had never eaten lobster. She was amazed at the flavor. The lobster was perfectly cooked, tender. The bitter sauce was warmed and a great compliment to the lobster. The rest of our dishes were good but not great. For the price I will not return. I think for equivalent cuisine there are less expensive and tastier options, including the lobster dinner.

Yelp
We have been here quite a few times. Food is excellent. My husband gets fish stew every time. I change it up so I have tried many dishes. Service is usually good. We love sitting outside weather permitting.

Yelp
One of the best (if not the best) happy hour in lake Oswego! The food is so good and the views are an added bonus.
google avatar

Deb K.

Yelp
Good deals if you can get in during happy hour! Plus grand marnier soufflé was delish! Burger and chicken wings were full size at happy hour prices!

Yelp
Service is good and we have a great waitress. Drinks are delicious. Beautiful place to have an early dinner. We came here for Father's Day dinner the night before. Happy!

Yelp
My in-laws frequent Five Spice for happy hour, so we decided to go in. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, with wonderful flavor, and prices were reasonable as well. The restaurant is beautiful and I am sure the patio overlooking the lake is gorgeous. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Food good....Service not so good. I usually come solo and sit at the bar and the service/bartenders are always great. Came for early dinner with parents and felt service was sub par. We had to ask about the specials vs. being told what they were once we were ready to order. Other tables around us were told the specials without being prompted. In addition upon arrival hostess did not give us dinner menus despite us being there for dinner. She made the assumption that we were there for happy hour only, despite having a reservation for dinner in the dining room. Very disappointed because my parents were visiting and I wanted them to have a nice dining experience. I won't be returning.

Yelp
Met a friend for happy hour and was seated in the covered patio. It has heaters and was tented so it was fairly warm for a cold February evening. Ordered the spring rolls, chicken satay, coconut shrimp, and Pinot Grigio. One great thing is the HH prices. The food was good and no one else was seated in our area so it was nice to be able to talk with each other uninterrupted. Our server was constantly checking in, filling water, clearing plates-she was super helpful and accommodating.

Yelp
My wife loved her food, however my salmon initially came out incredibly overdone. When I asked my server if I could get a new fillet, a new one came out in less than 5 minutes with no seasoning and extremely underdone (nearly raw in the middle). Our server did her best, but for $45- this salmon was not up to par. This was our first time here so this was not the experience we were hoping for. The ambiance was great and the wine was fantastic, however the food was just not there.

Yelp
The view is really the best thing about this restaurant. Our server had a large area to cover. Too many tables (inside & outside) all things considered. The other staff members failed to assist. The manager walked by our table 3x & never, once asked how we were doing. A table of 4. 2 people dairy free. One of those GF. None of the items on the menu were specified as GF. The food was bland. No one cared to mention or remind us that the Grand Marnier Soufflé would take a minimum of 20 minutes. (It was more like 40 minutes.) The lemon pudding was the best. Come for view. Don't expect much, food or service wise. At least not with the current manager & staff.

Yelp
The lunch portions we had were very small. Ordered the chicken lettuce wrap and received 3 very small open butter lettuce leafs, each with a thin strip of chicken and julienne slices of carrots. The peanut sauce was delicious but Not worth it. The other entree was the open faced crab sandwich. Again, the crab was spread very thin. Not impressed.

Greg M.

Yelp
Not only great food, but VERY helpful staff! The manager tracked down a gift card that had been lost, called me and reissued it! I thought I was up the creek without a paddle.....thanks Mimi :) Greg Morse West Linn

Yelp
This is the worst upscale meal I have had in years. The service was terrible. Although the restaurant was almost empty and many staff were talking to their friends, we were ignored. I ordered King Salmon. It tasted like it had been 10 years since the salmon had seen the water. Perhaps they bring in the fish pre-sous-vided, let it sit in the freezer and fride for months and then just throw it on the grill for a minute. Everything else tasted like mush as well. I don't think they actually have a chef but just heat up premade dishes.

Yelp
Moms bday dinner!! Had the lobster this go around. Not very impressive, came with a potato hash that was better than the lobster. Wife and bro had stuffed salmon which tasted pretty good but the salmon had bones all through it and crab shells in the stuffing. Not acceptable for a seafood spot. Waitress was good and prompt. For the price it just wasn't worth it. Good day all!
google avatar

Yelp
What a lovely dinner! Started with the Coconut Kamikaze (omg, SO good!). Had some appetizers (crispy spring rolls, calamari, & coconut shrimp) So many dinner options looked amazing but I went with the Butter Salad (if you don't like blue cheese & onion, don't bother! Fortunately I love both!) and Crab Cakes (after 3 apps, I was full!). Both were delicious. My SiL had the potato leak soup that she said it "might have changed my life"! My brother had the spicy seafood chowder which he really enjoyed. My husband had the stuffed salmon and loved it.

Yelp
We had an awesome experience tonight. My out-of-town relatives were truly impressed with the food, service, and menu. Drinks - 5 stars, reasonably priced. Apps - 5 stars, diverse and delicious Salads - 5 stars, good share size for 2-3 people for each salad. Entrees - 5 stars, good portions, original, and tasty Dessert - 5 stars, must get the souffles Service - 5 stars, impeccable, attentive, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about the menu. Mai Tai - tasty, not too sweet, the orange foam on top was yummy. Korean Pork Belly - melt in your mouth Spring Rolls - big and delicious. The server allowed us to customize the dish by adding 2 more for our party of 6. Coconut Shrimp - 6 pcs, crunchy with a yummy sauce Stuffed Salmon - delicious with brie inside, on top of mashed potatoes and asparagus. A big portion. Seafood Stew - spicy and tasty, mussels, squid, salmon, and shrimp Souffle - the pièce de résistance. If you love chocolate, get the chocolate souffle. If you love vanilla and orange, get the grand Marnier souffle. Light, fluffy, and sweet heaven.

Yelp
The food was amazing! However I just wish that it would be a bit quicker. All the servers were very nice but had to wait quite a while.. I would go back though just because the food was great!

Yelp
Amazing dinner experience! We sat outside with a view of the lake. They have a fire pit that felt amazing since it was windy. :) Now you know tips: *Bottle Menu: Not given/Must ask for it. Loved: *The po boy sandwich ( I added onions ); it's only available on certain days. Good/Not Great: * The Salmon ( lacking in seasoning) Good/Could be better: * Creme Brulé - (I loved the soft cookie) Overall, it's a great place to bring a date or lunch/dinner with friends.

Georgeanne S.

Yelp
Lovely view, uninterested greeter, very nice and informed waitress Taylor. Seven meals...three were okay, four were tasteless. Dessert was okay. More than $700. We won't be going back any time soon. Disappointed for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Dinner with nice friends ! Lovely deck location allows views over Lake Oswego. Nicely curated wine list. Wife had the Shrimp Cocktail with 6 humongous shrimp! Cold and very tasty. Friends had the Stuffed Salmon which was quite good (no leftovers!!!). I went small with the Ahi Tuna Poke with Taro Root Chips (in a taro root bowl!). Presentation was awesome! Kind of like an avocado bowl ... part smashed part not. I was amazed at how cool it looked! So small chip-scoops of avocado and tuna poke ... it tasted great! I'm a fan! All in all a great evening!!!

Yelp
New fav spot for lunch or dinner. Excellent food and perfect wine parings. A must try in Lake O.

Yelp
Attached photo is a Cream Brûlée dessert from five spices. It tastes as appetizing as it looks.

Yelp
This used to be the place to go in Lake Oswego in the villages. But there has been a total change in their food the last year. Nicely, you can use a parking garage close by and park for free. The views from this restaurant are beautiful and the staff/customer service is always good from my experience. But for me, the food has been an issue. I've been here with different groups of friends several times over the past few months, and the portions have been reduced significantly, but the prices have been increased. When people are saying at the table, but they're "going to have to go get another meal after this" it initially is a joke... But all in all it's true. The taste of the food also is nothing special. Let's face it you can get steak, chicken, seafood, anywhere. We weren't even provided with bread anymore. Unfortunately, I hate to do this, but I'm probably gonna say no for returning to try this place again since I've given it so many chances. :(

Yikuno A.

Yelp
Food is ok but, they seem to be selective of their customers. On a couple of occasions, my family and I made reservations however, we were not seated on time & had to wait for a table although they have plenty of empty tables.... not sure what the logic is, but this is a bit odd
google avatar

Vuka L.

Yelp
Nice location for walking after dinner. Ambience is standard ok for price range. Food is subpar for price range - well cooked Main dishes but just boring and all the sides were bland and uninspired. Our party ordered all seafood, tasted most of the menu. Optimized for safe efficient extraction of $ from rich patrons.

Yelp
Great spot. Had a nice lunch, good service, good food and tasty, unique drinks. Will most definitely come back. We did not have reservations on a rainy Saturday afternoon around lunch time, but it wasn't too crowded likely due to the weather. Fireplace area was cozy but we opted for a window seat to watch the world go by. Highly recommend this place! Visited in early Nov 2022.

Yelp
Fun place to meet friends for drinks & appetizers. Great ambience & service. We had the coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail, spring rolls, Caesar salad & Crème brûlée...all delicious!

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance! We can't wait to go back! I took a friend there for her birthday and we really enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by both the person checking us in at the hotel and by a local. Great spot for lunch (seared salmon salad, Thai beef salad) with a beautiful view of the lake. We opted to sit at the bar because for us talking to the bartenders, both of whom (Brian and Bryce) were awesome, and others is a great way to pick up local recommendations. Like meeting Karen who worked around the corner at Cougar Crest winery which was a recommendation we would not have had if we weren't sitting at the bar.

Ridge T.

Yelp
Five Spice had one of those "I could eat this everyday" salads. It 's the BUTTER lettuce salad. I would add chicken that was grilled with what I perceived was only salt and pepper. Then some genius decided to add rosemary to the chicken seasoning and ruined it. Instead of a flavorful chicken breast it tasted only like rosemary. I asked if they could just do salt and pepper and the answer was "nope." What a shame.

Virginia S.

Yelp
The small piece of surgeon was completely overcooked. The vegetable dish was filled with celery. For the price I paid, I expected much better. .

Erik U.

Yelp
I don't usually leave bad reviews for restaurants because I think it's so subjective and I don't want to hurt businesses, but when I have an experience this bad I just can't help it. This was my first and definitely only time dining at this place and it massively failed on every thing other than the bread and butter. The name of this place is ironic considering how bland everything was. I had the chili garlic green beans and the lentil entree and both tasted like absolutely nothing. I was willing to concede that maybe I just made really poor choices but the rest of my party who got entrees of fish and chicken also felt the same way. The craziest thing was when I got my first refill of water 45 minutes into the dinner I took a sip and was immediately confused by what I was tasting. My wife saw the look on my face and asked if there was something wrong with the water. I told her I wasn't sure and had another sip. One of our friends said it tasted off as well. The way I described it was like carbonated water that had gone flat, to which my table mate agreed. So, yeah, I don't like to trash businesses but I legitimately can't think of a meal I've eaten at a restaurant that was as bad as this. I don't mean restaurants in this price range, I mean all of the restaurants I have ever been to. Maybe they just had a massively bad night, but when you can't even do water right... The ambience is nice.

Yelp
Dropped by for Brunch at 11:30 on a Sunday Decided to have a couple things I like but haven't tried here Having become a big fan of fried cauliflower thought I'd try their version along with coconut shrimp Get 6 shrimp, crispy not bad. Sauce was pedestrian Spicy king pao cauliflower, not a fan. Unevenly cooked cauliflower swimming in a thin sauce. Definitely meh Fried cauliflower at Nicholas in Gresham still my favorite Wife had an omelette that seemed good

Yelp
Reviewing for happy hour! They have it from 3-6 every day and they let you sit outside! Really good drink and food deals. I got an IPA and other folks got a billy something cocktail that looked good. Beer was 5 and cocktails were 6. Bargain. Then we got mixed olives for 3 and hummus for 5 I believe. The hummus had pita and carrots and cucumbers, very tasty and fresh. The view was absolutely amazing and that IPA was really good, only good if you like hoppy. I would definitely return for a real dinner or lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Great experience! Tasty food and I love that you can see the chef area. That was my first time having sturgeon and it was delicious. My only complaint is the creme brûlée was curdled. My server removed from the bill and brought a new one so it's obvious the care about their clients. Definitely would go back. I'm interested in trying the outdoor area.

Yelp
We loved it ... a wonderful and consistent restaurant . The food was great. The drinks were great. The atmosphere was wonderful and our server was professional and efficient. Our meal was thoroughly enjoyable. We'd give it five out of five stars.

Yelp
Service amazing. Drinks, amazing. Food, amazing. We ordered the squid for appetizer. It's was perfect. Drinks were amazing. I recommend the old fashion with smoked cinnamon. Filet and lobster was perfect. I also had the butter lettuce salad with Pablano blue cheese dressing. It was unreal. This is a fancy, casual place. It was clean, staff was superb. I recommend it for sure.

Yelp
You guyz! I am so sad to do this. I take NO pleasure in decreasing the score of this fine establishment, but it would be wrong for me to hold this inside any longer, it's only right that you hear this breaking news...... One of many reasons I gave this business a solid 4 stars is that they served happy hour outside without any problem. If you read my reviews, you see that was my issue at Stick(Dick)Men and thus ended up here and was so happy I did. Well a couple weeks ago we go before happy hour is over, around 5 (HH is till 6) and we are told we can only eat from the dinner menu outside, and happy hour inside. It was a hot day, so no Oregonian was tripping over their shoelaces to get outside. We were the only ones making the request. I know this because a ton of people that came before us all opted to sit inside without requesting outside seating. Also, there was not ONE person sitting outside! Not ONE! What a waste of so much space! It's a L.O. crowd so their not mostly sitting inside to save money, but because they want to. Plus I saw many actual dinners being ordered that could have been eaten outside. I like being outside, I want my natural vitamin D, I do not care how hot it is. I love their view from outside, I love the fresh air and sunshine. I sit inside at work ALL day and our summers here are short. My aversion to being cooped up inside on a summer day is strong. Apparently the reason we got to sit outside last time was because we got there before 3 pm. So up until 5 you can sit outside and get happy hour, but happy hour goes till 6. It's less complicated if you just give us that hour. I am not independently wealthy and retired, so it's unlikely I will ever be there that early again on a weekday. We ended up just having a couple drinks and going to eat elsewhere. That happy review is coming up shortly.

Yelp
I come here often as it's an easy access or meet point with lots of parking in Lake Oswego downtown. They have a great happy hour, 3-5 DAILY Great priced appetizers and wine For dinner - They always have fresh oysters and shrimp cocktail as well My favorite on the menu include their grilled king salmon and roasted sturgeon. The ahi and scallops are also delicious. Nice outdoor seating near mini fires and also great service Highly recommended for seafood!

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch. What a fantastic lunch menu. Great food and great prices. I had the seafood stew. Could have used a bit more protein, but it was amazing. I've never had peppers in a seafood stew. What a nice touch. #DukeOfEats

Yelp
I came here recently for a special event/occasion. I had the fillet and lobster tail. For the price, it could have been better. Our waitress was not that attentive and seemed to be overworked and didn't look at me when speaking to me. The wine she recommended with the meal was not that great of a pairing. The fillet was pretty good, but not excellent as I as hoping for - a little to charred on the outside. The butter sauce for the lobster tail was great however. Asparagus was too charred. I was hoping to finish off the dinner with the soufle, but it's another 20 min wait, which my server should have advised us on. Ambiance wise, it felt like a very normal restaurant, not an upscale restaurant. It was really noisy, lots of people running frantically around. I might come back for the happy hour though. The patio view looked amazing.
