"Taking a Cablecar in the Middle of the Night The Fjellheisen cablecar in Tromsø, which takes you up Mount Floya, operates 24 hours in the summer, when the Arctic sunshine stays with you all night. Whether you're planning to hike or merely to stand and gaze at the view of the mountains, it's a lovely experience. We went up around midnight, just after a blood-red sun had 'set' behind the peaks. By the time the cable car had reached the top, the sun was visible again. Little patches of dirty snow sat in hollows around us, the town of Tromsø spread out below, and the mountain range disappeared invitingly behind (we didn't accept the invitation, but that wasn't the point...)."

I am very lucky as I paid £74 for a 2 day pass and was treated to 2 nights of spectacular northern lights! The snow was pretty deep and pathways were carved out from humans but the further away from the cafe you get the harder it is to walk but the views are just amazing. I felt my £74 was justified but can imagine people feeling ripped off if the weather is bad up there

Very beautiful! I highly recommend taking the staircase up or down and doing the cable for the other direction. If you are looking for a challenge, you can take the Sherpa staircase up and then the cable cart down or vice verse. Very beautiful scenic view. I highly recommend. There’s a very cute cafe located at the top as well and a variety of view points.

Visited this mountain recently. Great place thought the cable car was a bit expensive for such a small ride. We did the glacier paradise in zermatt recently and that wasn't much more expensive. Cafe nice and warm . Had the soup could have done with a bit more warmer.

The place is AMAZING!!! There is a nice view of Tromsø and is a must-do in the city!! You can get tickets before at the website and there too!!! Get prepared because up there can be colder than the city! Dress warmly!!

Fast cable car to the top of the mountain! The views on the way up/down are great and at the top are awesome!! Best views are towards Tromso city as you go up/down. You can also go for walks at the top of the mountain and beyond, there are viewpoints giving 360 degree views too. The only negative is the steep ticket price (NOK595 for a return ticket, Oct ‘25) which seems very overpriced. If you are up for it, you can hike one way (either up or down) and buy a one way ticket for NOK 385.

⭐️ 1/5 — Fjellheisen: a pricey panic attack wrapped in mud and ice. None stars wasn’t a choice Let’s not dance around it — this place was a whole disaster from the moment we arrived. Mud everywhere, ice lurking under every step, and not a single safe spot to walk. It felt less like a scenic attraction and more like paying premium rates to stroll through a dangerous construction zone. And the cable car? It didn’t glide us into some cozy mountain haven. It dumped us at the bottom of four full flights of stairs, as if that was totally normal. Imagine navigating that with an 84-year-old mother, clutching her arm while your heart is trying to leap out of your chest. That’s not adventure — that’s stress cardio. Inside wasn’t any better. Water dripping from the ceiling, signs everywhere whispering “Caution: could be icy” like we didn’t already know we were skating on borrowed time. Honestly, the signs should’ve just said, “Abandon hope all ye who enter.” And after all that? You end up in a cafeteria-style setup with coffee so bland it made me miss gas stations. For the price we paid, I expected an experience — not a survival challenge dressed up as a tourist attraction. Save your money, save your sanity, save your ankles. Fjellheisen is a hard no

This cost of this very short ride is expensive but it's helpful to compare it against the cost of say an aurora chase. We paid almost 1000 NOK for an aurora chase bus tour and didn't see anything because. Even though the weather was bad, the tour wasn't cancelled which was a waste of money. However, when we came up here we were treated to a spectacular display. If you choose a night where you can clearly see the moon or stars you are most likely to see the aurora. Be advised that it can be icy and slippy outside so bring some crampons in your backpack (you can't wear spikes in the cable car) if you're worried. The coffee shop is warm and there are toilets also. There was construction work going on and I wished they'd turned the lights of the site off at night, but it didn't affect the view. There are also spectacular views out over Tromso.

Google
This is absolutely unacceptable for a tourist attraction. You pay 595 NOK per person (around £45) for a 4-minute cable car to what is literally an active construction site. There are excavators, fencing, mud, and exposed wiring everywhere. Visitors are directed through a plywood “No Entry” corridor with slippery stairs and no proper barriers near icy drops. It’s unsafe and not what’s shown online. Fjellheisen should not be charging full price or even operating in these conditions. Completely misrepresented and dangerous.

Yelp
This is a nice stop while in Tromso. If you're looking for an easy way to get a great view, this is a good place to come. You do have to pay to take the lift up the mountain, but I think the view was worth it. They take credit cards for the tickets and the cars leave every half an hour, so you may have to wait. It's to access by the busses. The view on the way up is really pretty and then the view at the top is stunning. Go at sunset for a really spectacular view. There is a viewing deck at the top, but you can get better pictures off to the side where there are less people. Once at the top, there's not much to do outside of taking in the view. It does get a bit colder up there than on the ground, so dress accordingly. This is a good place to stop to get a good view in Tromso for very little effort. I definitely recommend taking the little bit of time to come see it!

Yelp
This is one of the best places for panoramic views of Tromso. The cable car takes about 5 minutes, and it runs once every 15 minutes or so. Pro tip: please check their website especially during the winter months to make sure they are actually open. On our first visit here, we learned the hard way that they were closed due to strong winds.

Yelp
Beautiful elevated vista views await you at the top of mountain. Also you can spend a good chunk of the day hiking further up the mountain not only getting your steps in for the day but getting even better views the higher you go. At Forty USD for the R/T cable ride seemed a bit steep at first but is definately worth it as the memories and the awesome pictures you will take will provide a lifetime of memories you will cherish.

Yelp
One of the top attractions here. Worthwhile visit. You can purchase one way ticket and walk the treacherous path down or purchase round trip ticket. Plenty of hiking opportunities at the top.

Yelp
A long line, we waited :30 to get onto the tram. About 28 people fit into each depending on their size. The views from the top were wonderful. Admission is 3905 kroner for adults, reduced for children & locals. There is a Park at the top, I closed, Restaurant, toilets and the snack bar. Unfortunately the line to go back down was equally long .

Yelp
We visited this place is 2018. The trip was short but the view made it totally worth it! Once you get to the top, you can walk around but be careful when it's icy. I saw a lot of people slipped (including myself lol). They have a restaurant on top and the food was very good. The building isn't very big so it can get crowded. I don't know how it is now with COVID.

Yelp
The views, OMG amazing. The trip up is very pricy based on how short the actual ride is. My husband and I braved the cold to see the spectacular views of Tromsø. We also saw some brave souls who hiked/snowshoed their way to the top. We went in February and they had everyone crammed into the cars like sardines. With the COVID outbreak, I'm assuming (I hope anyway) that they are taking less people up per trip. There is a cafeteria style restaurant at the top. We had reindeer sausage and hot coffee for lunch, both delicious. I'm sure the views are just as spectacular in the summer.

Yelp
Cables, views, and Tromsdalstinden The Fjellheisen Cable Car is a tramway thing that was constructed in 1961 and goes up to a mountain ledge called Storsteinsen that is about 1,400 feet above sea level. Since in Norway many mountains literally rise right out of the sea, 1,400 feet is a whole lot higher than it seems. The trip only takes about four minutes and they pack about two dozens or so people in each of the two cars. Since the trip is so short they can move whole herds of visitors quite quickly. Up on the top the views are spectacular indeed. The city of Tromso is visible as well as fjords, lakes and of course other mountains in the distance. The cable car is not only used to access the great views but once on Storsteinsen it can serve as a starting point for many hikes to the various mountains, including the iconic Tromsdealstinden, which is over 4,000 feet high and can be seen from most of the surrounding area. There is a cute little restaurant on the top where you can get simple food and drinks and a place to warm up if for some obscure reason you actually get cold. An easy and incredibly fun thing to do while in the Tromso area. The cable car starting point is a bit out of the main city but easily reached by bus. It can get a bit crowded at times but there is plenty of room at the top for people to spread out and you will get to meet people from all over the world speaking all kinds of different languages. Because of all the cool views and the great hiking from the top this is definitely one of those places that deserves more than five stars. It just doesn't get any cooler tnan like this.

Yelp
This is definitely a place where you need clear skies. I ran into a lot of low clouds hanging over Tromso, so it was challenging to get any good photos. Plenty of parking is available. For tourists, it's actually very close to the Arctic Cathedral, so you can certainly plan on visiting both places together.

Yelp
We went up on the cable car at night to see the city lights and were not disappointed. The view was beautiful. The cable cars have recently been replaced with large new cars, so the ride was smooth. At the top there is a restaurant where I had a waffle with jam. Unpon returning, the staff was kind v enough to call us a taxi. Great adventure within the city.

Yelp
This is a must activity in Tromso. You can get wonderful Panoramic views of the city. If you are more into a physical excursion, you can walk up or down and take the tram one way. We had a conference meal on the top of the mountain, it was very good. Lump fish with a mash and vegetables. The warm garlic toast was surprising, but good. Service was attentive and friendly. You can get fast food and ice cream from the kiosk outside the dinning room.

Yelp
Awesome view of the city especially on a sunny day. The views from the top of both the mountains and the city are breathtaking. The ride is expensive but that seems to be the Norwegian standard. The restaurant at the top is also good but pricey. The cafe at the top of the stairs is maybe no my favorite. Go for the experience and the amazing views.

Yelp
The views from here on a clear day are GRAND! But the building is very small for the number of tourists they attract. The seating is limited and you'll probably have strangers just plop down at your table, which will make the dining experience awkward. The food was very good! They have the classic Northern Norwegian fare, Moose, reindeer, coffee, hot chocolate, cakes, etc. and for being the only thing at the top of the mountain the prices weren't too bad. I was unimpressed by the process of loading and unloading the actual cable car, they don't check anybody's tickets really and there's no real orderly process so even if you've been waiting in the loading area for 20 minutes people who are really pushy and rude will just shove you aside and essentially cut you in line so beware because the cars themselves only hold 28 passengers. Worth doing once but wouldn't shell out the money to do it again.

Yelp
Bit of a shitshow on the Fjellheisen yesterday. The hot chocolate machine in the cafe at the top was, unlike our immutable spirits, broken. Also, make sure your latte fits in the glass you have chosen for it. To the left are mugs, clearly labeled for use with the coffee bean's rich nectar. To the right, the vessels large enough for the majestic latte. A naïve failure to read the labels will result only in peril. Furthermore, less ambitious bipeds than we might be advised to invest in some weatherproof footwear if they have designs on scaling this beautiful behemoth. But dat view tho! And snow so sparkly! 5/5, would cable car again.

Yelp
Exepnsive. Very expensive. But then, this is Norway.... great views of Tromsø from the top. It goes up; it comes back down again. It's a cable car...
