The service is friendly and there’s a great variety of high quality fish to choose from

It’s always so fresh and delicious. Came here from Westchester because their seafood is so much better than City Island. Worth the trip every time. I had the shrimp basket and the halibut bites.

Great take out fish! Super nice staff! Great parking in the back!

Thick cod with the best thin batter. Absolutely the best fish & chips & coleslaw I ever had. Love it!

When I went in there, I knew it was going to be high-quality but an inexpensive price but I did not expect To be treated with the highest level of hospitality There are many good fish markets in lower Fairfield County, but this Wonderful group of people take the cake!!

A few years go my colleague introduced me to Fjord Fish Market in CT, and I’m so glad they did! My son and I are huge smoked salmon fans, and whenever I’m in Connecticut, I make it a point to stop by and pick up a few pounds. Fjord has locations in Westport, Darien, and New Canaan, but this time I visited the Cos Cob location—and I was absolutely wowed! They offer an incredible selection of European products from Spain, the Baltics, and beyond. The prepared food section was insane. I only came in for the smoked Salmon but ended up stocking up for a party we hosted yesterday, and everything was a massive hit. The potato latkes were phenomenal—we served them with sour cream, the best smoked salmon, another dollop of sour cream, and topped it all off with caviar from their fully stocked caviar fridge (a bit pricey, but it’s caviar!). It was totally worth it—the caviar made the salmon stand out and elevated the entire meal to Michelin-star levels. We also served their tuna salad on Japanese crackers with a sprinkle of dill. This isn’t your ordinary tuna salad—it has a light touch of wasabi and a homemade feel that sets it apart. Another standout was their snapper spread. We tried it at the counter and couldn’t resist serving it on Ritz crackers with a slice of jalapeño. It’s like whitefish salad, but 100 times better. We also picked up their seafood salad, which was freshly stocked right as we got there—it was so fresh and flavorful. For dinner, we bought some swordfish, which my wife cooked with potatoes and a red sauce they recommended from Randazzo’s—a spot I visit in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn ( BTW, home run spot for raw bar and the best-fried calamari) . How the hell they got Randazzo’s sauce in Connecticut is a head-scratcher, but I’m not complaining! By the time I was done shopping, I told my wife, “Don’t worry about the market—I got everything we need.” Now, after how easy this was, I’m actually volunteering to organize the next dinner party. Who knew I’d become a party planner overnight? I usually don’t write long reviews, but I wanted the ownership team to know—whatever you’re doing, keep it up! Everything was out of this world, and I’ll definitely be back.

Very nice fish and sushi - I will definitely return once more!

We have also tried their cooked items for lunch... excellent lobster roll & spicy fish bites.. halbot. Normally.the best , freshest fish in town ! However we once purchased some sea..bass and it was not fresh ... especially given their $$$$ prices. To their credit they gave us a credit which resulted in a very nice flounder dinner. We always have had good luck with the tuna. Get the more experienced staff for correct portion size.

Yelp
Fabulous staff and extremely fresh fish. Due to allergies and cross contamination issues I needed them to use a special knife and my own parchement paper and tin foil. They were wonderful about it and totally understanding of my concerns. I recommend Fjord for their amazing food and customer service. I also love their Poke bowls.

Yelp
We only come once or twice a year to get freshly cooked lobster roll and fish & chips. We always ending up buying fresh seafood to cook at home. This year, we bought mussels and were very disappointed because virtually all of them were filled with tiny parasitic crabs. We saw the crabs quickly, but not before my husband had eaten one. It was very unappetizing and we couldn't eat them. I called Fjord to tell them about this and there was no offer at all to refund me for the mussels. I don't think this store is a rip off, but I would have appreciated at least a token gesture to rectify the situation. I felt the man I spoke to on the phone could not care less that I wasted good money on something we couldn't eat. I'm not sure I'll bother to make the trip again.

Yelp
Yesterday, I sent my daughter to buy one and a half pounds of lobster meat to make lobster rolls. A couple of times over the past year, the lobster meat I purchased there was not fresh and I had to return it. When it is fresh, it's delicious. Thus, I asked her inquire about the freshness to the person behind the counter before she purchased it. It's over a one hour drive round trip for me to return it. My daughter was met with a hostile attitude for even asking about the freshness and told that the lobster had been cooked the day before. She took the employee at his word and made the purchase. When my daughter returned home with the lobster meat and everyone smelled it (including a dinner guest who is a chef), it smelled really foul. It was obviously way past its prime and would have sickened us if we ate it. Rather than deal with the very poor attitude of the employees if I returned it (my prior return experience where I was treated as if I was the person who had done something wrong), and an hour plus drive at dinner time where I needed to come up with an alternate meal plan, I threw the $100+ lobster meat in the garbage and didn't go back for a refund. Lesson learned. This is the last time I am buying lobster meat from this establishment. It is my own fault for continuing to frequent this store which has burned me several times now. In hindsight, I should have sent the spoiled lobster meat to the health department for analysis. Who knows how many people get food poisoning from eating spoiled seafood from this store.

Yelp
Exceptional quality Amazing service Always a winner Love this place for all my fish

Yelp
great place for raw fish or cooked seafood! Been here a few times and have not yet been disappointed! tried the following cooked items: - poke bowls - fish and chips - lobster roll All really good - big portions! Also had purchased their raw seafood to take home to cook myself. All very fresh and great! They even have sashimi quality salmon! They are a bit more expensive than the average grocery store, but definitely have fresher items.

Henry E.

Yelp
Good fish, a little pricey but worth it. I was in recently to pickup a dinner. The woman behind the counter was unpleasant, rolled her eyes at me and although subtle, spoke abrasively/was sarcastic. I honestly wondered if I did something wrong in the moment until it was over. It wasn't a code red situation, but I felt unwelcome -- which shouldn't happen in this situation. Maybe it was the holidays and stress. Otherwise, the guy at the checkout counter was extremely nice and had a big smile. Props to him.

Yelp
Amazing lobster rolls were enjoyed post manual labor clean the boat at the marina. We'll be back.

Yelp
We have been a reliable customer for years. However, today, there were five people behind the counter and none of them could be bothered to stop whatever they were doing to take care of us. We stood there for five minutes, and were the three people waiting. When I asked if someone could help the person literally said "we're working. Sorry.". We left and went to another fish store nearby. This was not just weekend help, there were senior members of the team there. I doubt we will be back.

Yelp
Today's my father's 90th birthday and my sisters and I live out of state. Brian & Scott went above and beyond to help make his birthday dinner possible! Fjord Fish Market delivered to Stamford and didn't charge for the key lime pie! Now *this* is a business that cares!!! I'm beyond thrilled!

Yelp
So, knocking off a star for customer service. Lived in greenwich for almost 6 months now, and would never have expected a seafood market to be the place for seafood prepared. Well it is. We always order fish and chips, tacos (shrimp and fish), fried oysters, and the lobster rolls (CT and Maine). All have been perfect everytime. The CT lobster roll has a lot of butter though, my only grievance. I tried the clam chowder and it was bleh. Not the worst, but could be better. And for crying out loud, the lobster bisque had a bit more lobster in it than other places, but not enough lobster. Lobster chunks people. Also another odd thing, they have oysters and will shuck for you, BUT they never have blue point oysters. The long island sound is a 5 minute drive and they NEVER have blue point oysters. To their credit it allows me to try other oysters, but sometimes I just want blue point oysters. I also must warn. Sometimes the shellfish doesn't seem all thast fresh. Steamers don't seem so fresh and they had head on shrimp which looked moldy.

Jen Z.

Yelp
When your open till seven and you refuse to make a paying customer a meal at 6:15 you get a 1 star. Also the young punk with the attitude who said he couldn't prepare a meal you were going to pay for because he was leaving early. That's negative stars in my opinion. You lost a customer. I will not be back! Please be more selective on who you hire! Or at least train your employees on how to speak to customers in a polite manner! A real disgrace!! And the lobster roll was dry and tasteless!!

Anne D.

Yelp
I used to love the poke but the quality went terribly downhill. I think it's now connected to the sushi section- which makes for terrible quality fish that looks old and was frozen prior to being in the little bins. I'm so sad this took a turn for the worst as it used to be so fresh and amazing.

C E.

Yelp
Pricy, but we enjoy the quality of the fish and seafood here, with some fun extras like caviar available.

Yelp
I visit this area once or twice a year and every visit requires more than one visit to Fjord Fish Market. I do not get the chance to have fresh seafood like the people who live here do so take advantage. They have everything you need for a your seafood fetish. I also had the Poke bar. I suggest it. Simple, quick and easy. Do not pass this up. Make it a regular stop if you live here (No, I do not work here) and a must if you visit.

Stewart L.

Yelp
A beautiful seafood/sushi market that presents the food as super fresh, and aesthetically stunning, in a well designed Shop worthy of Greenwich. We did takeout with lobster rolls, sushi, and fish tacos. Lobster roll and sushi- excellent! Fish tacos fresh, but disappointing. Low on the flavor scale and could/ should have been much better! Needed, spice and personality. Will try again but will not get tacos.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
They now do not take orders online or over the phone which means you have to walk into their tiny space filled with way to many people to get the fish, just as the pandemic is at an all time high during this winter resurgence. Smart move! Fish is good but plenty of other friendlier options.
google avatar

P L.

Yelp
Great fresh seafood of high quality. Only suggestions are I wish there was a fish n chip lunch special each day or a seafood soup lunch special each day( like the cheese shop next store with the grilled cheese and soup special) To top off all the wonderful seafood they have great desserts too! Wish they sold some single serving desserts for us with smaller households. Consistent quality and always ready to help their customers!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Expensive but very good quality seafood and a nice selection of prepared foods for takeout.

Nava B.

Yelp
A sea of golden poisson - get out your wallets because the cost of these delicacies is quite high. However, this is a case where you get what you pay for. The catch is always fresh and well-presented. There is great variety both cooked and uncooked to choose from. Their loss leaders are their take-out sandwiches which are delicious and reasonably priced. My favorite is their lobster roll which is abundant and comes with a surfeit of fries. But their other offerings are also very good. The only downside is that the courtesy of their staff is inconsistent which is a recent phenomena. Previously, they only hired young trainees from the Town, but with staff shortages they have had to broaden not only their reach but their standards.

Stacy J.

Yelp
Nice location. Good quality seafood. Very very pricey, priced seemed to have gone up about 25% in last 2 years on most things. Good selection, too good customer service. Wish they were open longer on weekdays. Good hours for weekends. KInd of small place, they are efficient in showing their wares. Also have accompaniments to fish there. Good turnover it seems.

K Miche L.

Yelp
Great Lobster roll!! I get one every time I am in town. There is a nice sized menu and the food is made pretty quickly. It can get busy on Friday afternoons, so call ahead for your order If you are in a rush.
google avatar

Shweta K.

Yelp
Great quality seafood. Little expensive, but worth it! Their salmon is always fresh, sushi quality, melt in mouth! Out of ready to eat menu, lobster rolls are must try.

Samantha S.

Yelp
This review is for takeout. We ordered the poke bowls and were blown away by how good they were. They were also reasonably priced, which made it even better. We will definitely be back!

Brett J.

Yelp
When you can get fish that isn't fried you know you found a good spot. I must say these might be the single best tacos I have ever had, no joke. They were so simple yet so delicious! For 15 dollars I found this to be a steal, did not skimp on the shrimp. Will be back, probably tomorrow...

Lee F.

Yelp
I used to go here frequently. I have to travel 5 miles to get there. Usually it's very good. I looked at their website and the lobster bisque got good ratings. I drive there. No lobster bisque. A worker said we don't have any and walked away. Since I was there I bought the NE clam chowder. I asked at checkout why no bisque? Answer was that summer was bad for soups. Every other fish market has it as far as I know. I bought the chowder and had it for lunch. It was cream of celery soup... I got maybe 2 bites of clam in a Quart container. So disappointing....

Matthew C.

Yelp
I've lived in Greenwich and NYC for the past 7 years of my life, I'm no stranger to expensive and even over priced, and I've never written a single review on yelp, but I am so incensed by the prices at Fjord's that I had to write this review. I think they operate under the theory that everyone in Greenwich is rich, dumb, or both...but if you don't fall with-in the union of rich and dumb I would suggest shopping at Bon Ton or another market in the area that charges prices commensurate to the cost of goods (remember commercial fishing is federally regulated, which makes cost relatively stable and certainly inline with their local competitors), employee expenses, and their rent--and Fjord's is not located in an unusually high commercial rent area in Greenwich, if anything I'd bet they pay less per square foot than most grocers located in the central business district. In my particular case, they tried to charge us $2 per unshucked oyster for a bulk order. That is 43% higher than the exact same oyster from a store also in Greenwich. My guess is their unit cost is somewhere around $0.70 cents per oyster, returning Fjord's a 187% profit margin. I realize there's other costs of running a business, but unless you think a 187% mark up on their costs is reasonable, find another place to shop. Do our community a favor by promoting honesty and fair pricing from our local businesses and don't shop at Fjord's.

Yelp
A couple of weeks ago, a colleague of mine who lives in Stamford asked me to come over for dinner, so I decided to take the train up from Manhattan to join them for a private soiree. Given the fact that they were providing the booze, I decided to supply the entree, for which she introduced me to Fjord Fisheries. If you want the freshest high quality seafood and steaks in the Stamford, CT area, look no further. The oysters I ordered were freshly shucked on site. The salmon was line caught and outstanding. And my friend bought a little jar of truffle salt which was phenomenal. Yup, they even have a certain selection of condiments and items that may compliment your cooking. With that said, I wish Fjord was a bit closer, for it is guaranteed to have a good selection of fish and seafood that will suit your needs. In the meantime, I suppose I can take the train to the Chelsea market to get my seafood needs!
google avatar

Cathy M.

Yelp
Stopped by this place when we were in the area, and all I can say is "fresh!!!" Their seafood was so fresh and delicious. My husband and I could definitely taste the quality of the food, compared to other fish markets who claim their seafood is fresh. Customer service was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Displays were beautiful and we even bought some of their sauces, which were delicious. If you're looking for fresh seafood, definitely stop by this market. Great experience, excellent food, and friendly staff. We will be coming back for sure!
google avatar

JC G.

Yelp
Local Greenwich fishmonger with a Scandinavian flair. They will give you recipes and tips and let you know which fish is best when and they sell a selection of delicious home made sauces. Try the simple Gorgonzola salad and home made guacamole.
google avatar

Bcritic P.

Yelp
Expensive for fresh fish and the 'hot' fry ups suck The chips are soggy and the crappy seasoning they put in the batter for the fish is gross...leave it for the chicken strips dude!
google avatar

Paula T.

Yelp
The shop floor is concrete and had just been hosed down and washed. There were still little puddles lobsters in a tank, cream white scallops, beautiful deep tuna steaks. Everything. Check it out. Fiord dip/spread $18.99 pound but I would treat myself to half a pound. All raw waiting for somebody to take them home and cook them. I'd skip whole foods fish any day for this. My daughter gets fish from whole foods and it smells terrible. I would shop here. PLUS they have delicious salty shortbread cookies that are also to die for. My kids now get their sushi and fish there. Actually one opened in Darien CT so they use that.

Victoria F.

Yelp
The people who work there are just so rude. I spent $35 on one piece of fish plus sushi rice, which is fine IF THEYRE polite! They could not have been more rude to me. Food is good but comes with a bad attitude.
google avatar

Alec C.

Yelp
Freshest fish in Greenwich! Also great sushi and sauces. Avoid the pre-cooked food except for the lobsters! Those are fine.
google avatar

Michiko I.

Yelp
I'm just not used to fish shop here. I bought salmon and it was good but I need to try sushi next.

Gigi M.

Yelp
Seafood quality is very good, but pricing is RIDICULOUS for what you get. The lobster roll ($17) was tiny and the plate was just filled with fries. Absolute disgrace. Tastes good, but a total scam.

Judy G.

Yelp
AFTER waiting 15 minutes for fish and chips, I was told there were no chips, but I could have something else. Things like that have been happening more and more frequently here. So do they offer a little concession, like most places of business would? Never, not even an apology. NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY. I've overlooked incidents like this a number of times. Enough. And one time the fish and chips were awful - too much batter and not cooked enough . . . gross . . . really gross . . . inedibly gross.
google avatar

Sun Y.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place around for fresh seafood! Try the marlin dip for a divine experience. You will be addicted. Also they are expanding into other foodstuffs, and have incredible garlic bread that you just stick in the oven to warmup. Anytime I need a specialty ingredient or food item, I often can find it there. Like truffle salt, herring, gjetost (carmelized Scandanavian whey cheese). The fresh meats look good too although have not tried them yet. On the pricier side, but its seafood so you want the freshest and high quality items.

Ali L.

Yelp
Freshest Fish in Greenwich! Crabcakes (entree and sandwich) and fish tacos are really good. They also have very good french fries and cole slaw!

N B.

Yelp
My biggest complaint is with their customer service. I went to Fjords last weekend and the man behind the counter could not have been more rude to me nor the gentleman who was also waiting to be helped. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that this has happened. There are times when I'm standing there for a few minutes and, though they see I'm there, they do not acknowledge me until THEY are ready. I get their high prices are due to the quality of their fish and do not mind paying money for quality. Fortunately there are other places where I can get quality fish without the attitude. I'm no longer shopping at Fjords when I don't feel like a valued customer or treated with the same level of respect that I give them.
google avatar

Sonya R.

Yelp
Great fesh fish always! Hand down the best around.

Beverly M.

Yelp
Really fresh beautiful seafood. The staff is great and most helpful with selecting just what you need and offers excellent cooking suggestions whenever asked. The sushi is some of the best in Fairfield County. Smoked marlin with jalapeños is outstanding. Excellent soups and other good prepared foods.

Marguerite B.

Yelp
I have been a customer for a long time and was always a great lover of your Brunswick Stew. Unfortunately, last week I purchased two small containers (no large was available) and the first container was filled with more potatoes than fish. The second con- tainer had one piece of potato, one large chunk of fish and the rest was mostly celery and broth. Please say that this was just an isolated incident.

T G.

Yelp
I order one item off their menu - lobster rolls. And they are excellent. My wife and I probably order these every other week and have never been disappointed. Everything else in the store looks good but we know what we like.

H M.

Yelp
The best quality fish and friendly service. So happy they are in my neighborhood!! Stopped in last week and picked up a tuna steak. The fish monger gave me a simple recipe to try since I had never cooked it at home. Turned out perfect. Many times I run in here to get a sushi roll for lunch. Fresh and some of the most Creative rolls around. Only wish Fjord would stay open an hour later till 8 so I could grab dinner to go on the way home from work.

Ben H.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh fish in Cos Cob/Greenwich this is the place to go.

Wagz W.

Yelp
$17 for a flimsy and tiny lobster roll? Maybe 1 claws worth of lobstah. Stick to buying fresh seafood by the pound so you don't get ripped off.

Cooper H.

Yelp
Great store! Good service & high quality. This place is a delight. The sushi is also amazing- and the folks who make it couldn't be nicer. Love this place.

Jack A.

Yelp
Excellent selection of fresh fish and take-out items with an emphasis on traceability. Easily the nicest display of seafood I have ever seen. Will be back soon!
