Highlights

The Flambeaux (pronounced: "flam-bow") are torches used during Mardi Gras parades. Throughout the history of our carnival tradition, the flambeaux carriers have lit up the night before floats so that revelers could see the parades. They also served as guides that led the parade on its route. In the same spirit, Flambeaux Bicycle Tours seeks to shed light on New Orleans' traditions and heritage. As we guide you through town, we share our city's colorful past and vibrant culture. We like our Gumbo spicy, so we throw a blend of history, folklore, culture, and places to visit in our roux. Join us as we guide you through the most unique city in America, in the best possible way to explore it...on a bicycle.

Heart of the city tour 04/11/2024 9:30 am What a fantastic way to learn about the cultural history of this amazing city while getting a unique perspective on a bike! We were so lucky to have booked with Eric as our guide. I HIGHLY recommend you book with him. Not only has his family lived in New Orleans for generations, which gives him a unique view of life in New Orleans, but he has an incredibly genuine, passionate and enthusiastic delivery. His stories gave life to a city I never knew, and painted such a loving picture of the history of the city, its people and their culture. I learned something on every stop! No lie. The ride was smooth. The route through the city was interesting and exciting. Did not feel ‘touristy’ or corny. Really, A FANTASTIC way to experience the city of Bulbancha. I would do it again for sure. The giant green dragonfly that latched onto Eric’s pant leg near the end of our tour was awesome too.

Google
Great tour! It was a good pace, tons of information, and plenty of time to answer questions. Eric was fun and had stories about everything, along with historical references. He was very helpful all around and gave good recommendations for food and entertainment for the rest of our trip. Highly recommended!

Google
This tour was incredible! I have been to the city many times, but learned more on this tour than I ever knew. Eric was a true gentleman and a true host. He made everyone feel included and welcome and really knows his city inside and out! I would recommend this to anyone Visiting no matter how many times they have been. Make sure to grab a delicious coffee next-door before your tour! We will be back to this beautiful city and take another tour with Eric, no doubt!

We has a great time on the Creole Odyssey tour. Corey was a wonderful guide and really knew the history of the area we rode through. This is such a fun way to see NOLA and get out of the Quarter.

Jennifer Nill

Google
This tour was amazing. Corey is incredibly knowledgeable and fun. I learned so much and it was nice to cruise around the city while doing it. If you can fit this onto your schedule, I highly recommend it! Was definitely one of the highlights of this trip.

Google
My experience with Eric was the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. He gives such a passionate and knowledgeable breakdown that will make you appreciate the city from the roots of the shotgun homes to the burial practices at St. Roch cemetery. Eric's energy is contagious and you can feel his love for the city at every stop along the bike route. Going on this tour is an essential part of anyone's visit to the city, I promise you won't be disappointed.

This was one of the BEST ways to kick off our trip to New Orleans. Our guide Eric was beyond incredible. Having grown up and been in New Orleans for generations, he gave us a truly insiders perspective - it was off the beaten path and exactly what we were looking for. Eric is an incredible story teller and through the lens of his own life - he opened us up to the true New Orleans. His love and respect for the city and its history set us up for the best few days spent in the Big Easy. I was a little hesitant wondering if a 3 hour bike ride would be too much for me but it was really easy riding with lots of stops and really comfortable bike seats.Next time - we will do every single tour offered by Flambeaux Bicycle Tours. Thank you Eric!!!!

Google
We booked the Heart of the City bike tour – Eric's personalized tour highlighting historical must-sees along with some of his personal favourites – and it did not disappoint. Actually, it turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit to New Orleans, and something that I'll definitely recommend to friends. Fun facts, good laughs, and well worth the price.

Yelp
This bike tour co. is the BEST.Our new Orleans vacation was so enriched by the bike tours we have taken with Flambeaux! The first time we came to New Orleans we enjoyed a bike tour with Baxter called the tale of two cities. Then when I came back with my sister, I took another bike tour with Eric that included the early history of New Orleans both are soooo great. From these bike tours, I have a whole new perspective on so many areas of New Orleans. What a gift these tours are. Go!

Janine L.

Yelp
Eric clearly loves his city and that is enhanced with the amazing facts he has about the past. this tour visits real NOLA neighborhoods and exposes you to the real New Orleans. An absolute must to do

Nina M.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this bike tour company enough! I am sure all of the guides are amazing, but our group had the great Barret who was extremely knowledgeable and very very committed to providing us with the best tour with the facts and even imitations. This is not an Iron Man race so the bike tour is suitable for all levels. After the 3 hour Two Cities Tour I left loving NOLA even more and wanting to experience the other tours that are offered by this company. This is a great tour with a great price that truly allows you to learn a piece of the interesting history that NOLA has to offer.

Rick A.

Yelp
One of the best tours we took in New Orleans, Eric was a true ambassador and great storyteller!

Mark F.

Yelp
This is a 5+ star tour. Outstanding inter-weaving of the history, languages, and culture at a leisurely pace! Taking this tour helps preserve local Creole culture.

Shani C.

Yelp
Hey, if you're trying to pick a bike tour for New Orleans, use this one! Bikes in good condition, very comfortable, and the subject matter is very interesting! we took the Creole history tour with Eric, he is very engaging and definitely a local authority. Get rolling at 9:30 before it gets too hot!

Vicki V.

Yelp
We did the two cities tour with Barret who was absolutely amazing! Very informative and great information on the tour! I will definitely come back for more tours!

Meredith B.

Yelp
We love bicycle tours and this was no exception. We got to see a lot of New Orleans that we otherwise wouldn't have and learned so much. We had 2 adults and 4 teenagers and all we agreed it was a win. Bonus was a stop at a park with a cafe du monde so we got to try beignets without standing in line for an hour. The trees around the museum are absolutely gorgeous so that was a treat as well. It's a long ride. We had started the day with a walking tour, ate lunch nearby at lil Dizzy's (oh my goodness, so delicious!) and by the time the tour was over I was done. (Total peloton junkie here, I bet we rode about 9 miles) Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was thoughtfully inclusive of the whole of New Orleans. I never felt like his opinion was leading the discussion. Great family activity if you are interested in history and like to ride a bike!

Selina I.

Yelp
Getting around via bike is my favorite way to see New Orleans. Flambeaux had the best prices in the city. I rented a lovely Public bike for the day ($35) and my rental came with a basket, lock, and helmet. Highly recommend renting from these guys!

Jim S.

Yelp
Fabulous tour of some often overlooked NOLA neighborhoods. The history and colorful stories were so entertaining. Eric is the perfect host and guide. The pace and length were just perfect. I highly recommend this tour.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Smooth and easy process - everything from making the reservations online to picking up + dropping off the bikes. Picking up the bike took less than 5 minutes, and dropping it off was even faster. A bike lock and helmet are provided. Customer service is excellent.

Yelp
Had a Bachelorette trip for Mardi Gras and took Eric's bike tour. All I can say is it was AMAZING! He was soo informative and the energy he brought with him was so refreshing. He made learning fun! I actually retained a majority of what he taught us and shared with my friends & family when I got back. Definitely a MUST when visiting New Orleans

Yelp
Flambeaux is THE place to do a tour with! I've taken several tours in the city and this is one of my favorites. My fiancé booked us on a 10am Tale of Two Cities tour for my birthday and we had a great time. Check in is super easy, just show up and sign the waiver. You get a quick breakdown of hand signals used while biking to ensure safety and that the group stays together. Over the three hour tour you get to see so many iconic places around the city and learn insider stories you otherwise would not get to. Our guide, Barrett, was incredibly knowledgeable as he is literally a historian and was a teacher previous to this. Since he gets to show so many people the city he also has amazing personal stories that he shares! The three hours fly by and biking around the city was so much fun (not too strenuous at all). I hope to do another one of their tours in the future (the private night ride looks amazing). We stay near here so we constantly are walking by with our dog and all the guys here (especially Eric) are incredibly friendly so I'm sure whoever you get for your tour will be awesome. Thanks for a great start to my birthday!

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
Eric is such an amazing guide and storyteller! Despite the frigid air, he took us on the heart of the city tour where we stopped to see and hear about some of Nola's famous landmarks, neighborhoods and myths. It is about a 3 hour tour and halfway though we stopped at a food hall for a little break. Eric was born and raised in Nola and had great suggestions for our trip. Highly, highly recommend

Diana S.

Yelp
I love our bike ride through the heart of the city. Our guide was knowledgeable about rich the history in New Orleans and catered to the needs of our groups. He was raised in New Orleans which added to his rich knowledge of the past and present history of the city! This was a highlight of our time in New Orleans!

Ne M.

Yelp
Booked a tour with my BFF on Tuesday with Jeremy... This tour is a must... Jeremy was awesome, very educational and funny. You will not be bored on this tour. I learned so much about NOLA on this tour... Tour exceeded my expectations and I will definitely recommend this tour. We stopped and had beignets which was delicious. I was hesitant to go to the cemetery during the tour, which I expressed to Jeremy before we started the tour and he was understanding and checked when we got to the cemetery if I was okay to come in... Just a dope experience overall....

Michele D.

Yelp
We rented our bikes here and it was easy and friendly service. Great locks and helmets and good price.

Randy R.

Yelp
Took the tour yesterday with Eric the owner. We had a great time seeing New Orleans from a different perspective. Eric is very knowledgeable about the history and great at his job as the tour host. We also had a lot to talk about San Francisco too since that's where I'm from and he has lived there too. Cheers and thanks again Eric.

Lindsey M.

Yelp
We had the best time on our tour with Eric. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We went to places that we wouldn't have gone to on our own and we definitely enjoyed that. He knows this city inside and out. I felt safe the entire time and we were definitely taken care of. It was easy to book, easy to find and easy to enjoy!! Highly recommend this company!!!

Nicole D.

Yelp
I thought the tour was great. Erik was very knowledgeable and gave us interesting information on everything. He was a local and seemed like he knew everyone. The tour exceeded expectations.

Ana M.

Yelp
Eric was awesome! We were very impressed with his knowledge of the city and history behind all of that! This tour was the highlight of our stay in New Orleans! Highly recommended!

Kelly G.

Yelp
I had half a day to explore New Orleans after a conference and took the Tale of Two cities tour with Garrett. He has an incredible wealth of historical knowledge regarding New Orleans and has so much passion for conveying it to his tour groups. If you do one thing while in New Orleans, take a bike tour with Garrett! You won't be disappointed!!

Jennifer U.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a great time on our bike tour! Eric was very knowledgeable about the history of Louisiana and was quite the entertaining tour guide. We definitely recommend this bike tour.:)

John M.

Yelp
Good job and fun trip. Great way to start a vacation.

Michael C.

Yelp
Eric took such good care of us! So helpful, kind, and willing to help. The shop is located conveniently in the middle of the French Quarter, making it perfect for touring the city. He gave us routes to ride, tips on the city, and recommendations on where to eat. 10/10 would recommend this company to anyone touring the city or just wanting to enjoy a day on some wheels!

Skye T.

Yelp
We had so much fun on this knowledgeable bike tour! Eric was great, he was super friendly, personable, knowledgeable, funny too! It's a nice slow paced bike ride throughout the city, and it didn't get us super tired. My group and I came from Los Angeles so we learned a bunch of history on New Orleans we never knew about. It was really interesting. We saw some other bike tours while we were on our tour and the guides looked boring! Lol no seriously. Our guy was much more lively. Glad we picked Flambeaux bike tours

Alex M.

Yelp
Took the Garden District tour w/ Barrett while my mom was in town and had such a great time! I highly recommend this tour to both locals and tourists. Barrett's stories were FABULOUS, interesting, and very well researched. I didn't feel like I was being fed "folklore" as a lot of other tour companies do. The tour is comprehensive with beautiful scenery and easy bike ridding! Will continue to recommend this tour when I have visitors in town!

Celeste M.

Yelp
Eric is the best tour guide. He is so enthusiastic and he really made the Creole Odyssey tour one of the best bike tours I've ever been on! If you don't have a lot of time in New Orleans, I highly recommend booking a bike tour with Flambeaux Bicycle Tours. The Creole Odyssey tour takes you through the French quarter and Louis Armstrong Park, and a lot of other major NOLA spots! The tour is an even mix between biking and talking through the itinerary. There are multiple opportunities for pictures and fun facts! Visiting NOLA during covid was definitely a risk since the restaurants and bars are mostly closed. However, Flambeaux Bicycle Tours are the best way to see the city in a relatively short amount of time - and get a bit of a workout in! You are given water on the tour but I highly recommend bringing extra. It was SO hot when we did our tour and the Creole Odyssey encompasses around 10 miles! Pretty impressive!

Rahul S.

Yelp
The best bike tour I've ever been on. Eric is an extremely personable tour guide (he's a history major too). He's a great story teller and knows his home city like the back of his hand. We went for the downtown tour but we'll definitely be back for more. Thank you!

Rachael S.

Yelp
My family of five enjoyed the amazing lessons that Eric shared. His passion and love for New Orleans history, people, and culture is contagious. This was the best guided tour, not just bike tour, I can remember - EVER. All three of my teenagers came away feeling rewarded with an understanding of the real New Orleans. If Eric taught this tour to teens for school, he would be a celebrated teacher.

Alberto C.

Yelp
Great experience! We had about 17 ppl and everyone loved it! I was definitely nervous at first but they provided great music throughout the ride and a fun route! We felt safe and the public loved the vibe also. The tour guides were awesome, very kind and entertaining! Highly recommend!

Sabrina Joy S.

Yelp
If you visit NOLA, you have to take this bike tour. Literally, Eric is hands down the best tour guide. You learn so much from him. He's open to all the questions you have to ask and doesn't make you feel bad about not knowing things. And he's sooo sweet! Which makes the tour even better. 10/10 would recommend. You can't go to New Orleans and not take this bike tour. You'll have the best time!

Holly V.

Yelp
We did a morning tour and it was amazing. The owner was our tour guide and he was so informative and full of great suggestions. This is a must do in New Orleans

Laura M.

Yelp
We have used Flambeaux twice now to rent bikes and have had great experiences both times! The online process was quick and easy and they had everything ready for us right on time. They also provided us with a map and clear directions on how to get to the sites we wanted to see. We will definitely continue renting bikes from them in the future!

Judy C.

Yelp
Eric is a really good tour guide. When we arrived at his shop, he was very friendly and nice. Made us feel welcomed right away. The bikes are in good shape. Easy to ride and maneuver through the very busy streets. Eric, is the star of the show. LOVES New Orleans and it shows in his knowledge of the city. There were many people that shouted out his name and waved as we rode along. The places we stopped were interesting, full of history. Eric waits for everyone, rides at a very comfortable pace. Engages with everyone in the group. Great, great tour. When I come back, will come back to this tour.

Luke R.

Yelp
DO THIS BICYCLE TOUR! Eric, the owner and tour guide, is a native of New Orleans and has a vast historical and contemporary knowledge of the city. We were cared for every step of the way with free cold water to start and he always found shade each time we stopped. Every stop was captivating with the information and history we learned as we looked around each location. 3 hours may be long for some families but it was perfect in our families opinion. The classic bikes rode very well great bottle/cup holder plus a deep basket in the front of the handle bars. Once again, Eric was an AWESOME guide!

Theresa S.

Yelp
Terrific tour today with Barrett. He was knowledgeable about his city and gregarious. We had a lot of fun and learned a bit too.

Naomi W.

Yelp
I booked the tour for our first morning in New Orleans. The tour guide and owner of the shop gave us an amazing tour that introduced us to the sites and history of NOLA.

Nick N.

Yelp
Eric gave a great tour of the city! A super fun and laid back historical tour with plenty of cool stops along the way.

Gail G.

Yelp
Eric, the owner, was so kind and accommodating to our group of 8 riders. We were in town for Tulane family weekend and the tour and learning about the history of New Orleans was a great addition to our fun weekend! Jeremy, our tour guide and local musicians was very knowledgeable and fun to bike around town with! We did the Creole Odyssey tour and he took us to parts of town I definitely would not have visited on my own. The bike seats were comfy and the tour was a pleasant, easy ride- highly recommend

Ashley C.

Yelp
The Creole Odyssey ride was a highlight of our trip. Eric the guide (and owner, I believe) is a local who really loves and cares about sharing the history of his city. Our ride was 0ft elevation (aka flat) so easy riding around 8 miles in about 3 hours. We went to the Cafe Du Monde in City Park, which meant no line! And saw many other beautiful parts of the city I likely would not have discovered on my own.

Karla M.

Yelp
This bike tour company magically came my way while searching for NOLA activities. I saw enough positive reviews to not bother looking up any other city bike tours. & im sure glad I didn't continue the search! My Heart of the City tour was on a Sunday from 9:30-12:30. Eric was our tour guide and definitely embodied the NOLA spirit through his enthusiasm the whole entire tour. He's a New Orleans native and his passion for the city is evident in every single stop we made. He took us to all key stops in New Orleans and goes into vast detail about every location we stopped at. His love for jazz also comes out every now and then, sharing many fun facts about NOLA greats like Louis Armstrong. I'm 100% content that I chose this tour company & definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a better feel for the city. It's exactly a 3 hour tour and you don't have to be in the best shape to last the whole time. The tour also includes a bottle of water and a stop at Treme Cafe to use the bathroom or grab a quick drink. Thanks Eric for an epic tour!

Susannah R.

Yelp
Wonderful tour by Eric! He truly helped us make the best of a rainy day in New Orleans. We took the mid-city tour, which took us through some historic spots in the French quarter, but also all the way up to City Park - which was magically beautiful. Eric was incredibly knowledgeable, witty and enthusiastic. Would definitely do this again!

Patricia C.

Yelp
Loved Flambeaux Bicycle Tours - Eric was a wonderful guide! After surfing Yelp and reading reviews on all the different bike tour companies, I'm glad we landed on Flambeaux. The bikes are cute (mint colored!), prices are a little bit cheaper (woohoo!), and our tour guide Eric was super knowledgeable and seemed genuinely passionate about history and New Orleans. We went on the 1:30pm Creole Odyssey Tour, and didn't return until about 4:40pm - Eric was nice enough to take us on one extra stop! You also get a bead necklace, a bottle of water, and a helmet if you'd like one (in New Orleans, it's not legally required to wear one, you'll just have to sign a waiver saying you agree to not wear a helmet). Highly recommended!

Kristina T.

Yelp
Great guide! Great bike! Great time! Eric was a great New Orleans guide to the city. As a local born New Orleans native, Eric has a wealth of knowledge and his energy is great to be around! Thank you for the city tour!

Molly T.

Yelp
This is a great way to see the city and learn about what makes it so unique! Eric is so knowledgeable and a natural story teller too! Do yourself a favor and sign up!

Cameron M.

Yelp
This is definitely in my top choices of things to do in Mew Orleans besides a swamp boat tour. It was incredible to hear all the rich history of New Orleans and how it ties in to the history of American. They are true historians at Flambeaux Bike Tours. The ride is not difficult as everything is flat. It's so fun riding through the French Corridors beautiful old buildings.

J Y.

Yelp
This is definitely a must-do in New Orleans. We were biking in French Quarter, Treme, and City Park in such a blast. We also stopped by Cafe Du Monde for the famous beignet.

Lex H.

Yelp
Best tour guide and your in New Orleans. Eric is HUGELY informative, fun, and passionate about this wonderful city. Awesome educator and the bike ride is perfect length and you get such a good tour of the city. Cannot recommend this enough. I have been to NOLA 15+ times and never have done the bike tour and I will 100% recommend this to any and everyone I know visiting in the future.
