"Set in Yala, 26 mi from Situlpawwa, Flameback Eco Lodge features concierge services and free WiFi. Each accommodations at the 5-star hotel has lake views, and guests can enjoy access to an outdoor infinity pool. Local and American dishes are served at the in-house restaurant. Guest rooms at the hotel are fitted with a seating area. The private bathroom is equipped with a bidet, free luxury toiletries and a hair dryer. The units have a desk. All rooms have direct views of the lake. The area is popular bird watching with in-house naturalists, safaris, game drives and village excursions. If you’re into glamping, then this is for you! Tents are spacious, en-suite, air conditioned. Tents are right on the lakeside, plenty of wildlife especially birds to watch. Restaurant is outdoors, but very comfortable and food is delicious.. top class chefs! (Thanks to Dismuth, Devid, Isnan and Tharak.. wait staff and chefs). Campfire cocktails are a must but be prepared for many mosquitoes and other insects as you are right by the lake! If you’re staying in Yala to visit the parks for Safari, bear in mind this hotel is a 45 minute truck ride away. We were met at the hotel by driver and guide and the journey is quite interesting. We did the safari from here and were lucky enough to have Thushan as our guide.. this chap is awesome!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is on the water and has a beautiful view of the bird life and some water buffalos too. Evening cocktails and a delicious evening meal and breakfast were a highlight. The staff were super helpful and attentive.

Deluxe air-conditioned tent cabins right on a lake where you are serenaded at night by large bullfrogs and other night creatures. We were skeptical about the air conditioner being up-to-task, but it worked very well and we slept soundly. The night watchman was very friendly and attentive, so we were able to navigate easily in the dark since we left very early in the morning and didn't return until after dark. The food and service was great, housekeeping was excellent and everyone on staff was welcoming. The lodge is about 45 minute drive to Yala National Park.

We have stayed in a number of camps while on safari in Africa. While this made sense in remote locations in the African bush, tented accommodation in Sri Lanka’s hot and humid climate doesn’t make much sense. The tented room while luxurious was very hot and sweaty even with aircon. There was also a lack of lighting which was unnecessary as there was plentiful electricity in the area. The hotel is situated next to a large hotel and town. On a positive note the staff were delightful and the food offering was good. The location next to a large lake is also good. I just don’t think this eco lodge makes match sense in the current location.

The location is fantastic, very relaxing, cosy and rooms( tents) perfect. The staff is so attentive and the food delicious. They dont have proper coffee, they should sort such small detail but perfect place.

What an amazing location and such fabulous lodges !!! This place is a hidden gem. |The birdlife is exceptional by the lake and it’s so peaceful .|Staff were attentive but discreet and the chef made the best food we have tasted in the last 10 days.|Nothing is too much trouble - they think of every need and cater for it.|Breakfasts and evening meals are wonderfully presented |Wish we’re able to stay longer! | We will be back !

Flameback was the highlight of our 12 days in Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and extremely comfortable. A good and peaceful accommodation for national park visit.|We stayed for two nights and particularly liked the attentive staff, the variety of birds on the property, the comfy mattress and the massages. Candlelight-dinner served on the shores of the lake was a special experience and a nice touch.
