I really don’t like leaving a review like this especially on Christmas Eve…but I feel it’s important to share our experience in hopes it may help improve things moving forward.
We decided to dine at The Flaming Crab tonight after KPot lost power, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. Service felt inconsistent from the start. My partner’s dish arrived about 15 minutes before mine, and since he prefers to eat together, his food sat while we waited. Additionally, I was told my pound of crab legs would include two clusters. Instead, I received one cluster and two very small legs. Given the price point, the portion received did not feel justified, and had I known this in advance, I likely would have chosen a different option.
While I will say that my food itself was tasty, the service left much to be desired. Our server only checked on us a couple of times, walked past our table repeatedly without acknowledgment, and placed my food down without saying a word, which came across as dismissive. I also noticed that other guests she was serving appeared similarly frustrated due to missing items and the same lack of communication and attentiveness.
At the end of the meal, the most interaction we had felt centered around tipping, which was uncomfortable. Additionally, our card was taken for payment and was not returned for approximately 15 minutes while the server attended to several other tables (around three to four), which added to our unease.
I do want to recognize that it’s the holidays, and I understand how difficult it can be to work on days like this—I’m on call myself and would normally spend the holiday with family. We’re currently states away from home, and this dinner was meant to make the evening a little easier and more enjoyable. Unfortunately, it ended up being more stressful than relaxing.
I hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit it’s intended, with the goal of improving both service and overall guest experience.
