Main hotel in Flam, only 34 rooms. Staff exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Rooms very comfortable. Good breakfast. Location cannot be beaten. Go for a room overlooking the river rather than the cruise ship terminal otherwise your view could be blocked by a massive cruise ship.

We were very happy with our stay while in Flam. We were there for one night having arrived by train and then taking the ferry to Bergen. We reserved a room with a view and were very impressed with the view (no cruise ship while we visited) and the very nice balcony. The room size was fine for us. We appreciated the counter service food option. The on site Aegir Microbrewery was outstanding (see my review of the restaurant for the highlights). Overall, I would definitely stay here again if I return to Flam.

The location of this hotel makes it! It is a 2 minute walk from the train and 1 minute walk from the ferry. We stayed in a family suite and it was great. They have a great covered area with tables to hang out grab a drink and enjoy the views. There is also great selection of food trucks and gift shops in town that is worth checking out. The hotel has breakfast that was great as well.

Booked a twin room in this hotel and was not disappointed. Lovely friendly greeting on arrival and the gentleman on reception kindly assisted with booking a dinner reservation for us that evening. The room was bigger than expected and just oozing with charm. We had beautiful weather and were able to take advantage of the little balcony overlooking the fjord - there were blankets available if required. Being able to open the door and enjoy the fresh air and peace was just bliss. Breakfast was lovely and fresh and there was plenty of choice - really good coffee too! Room was spotlessly clean. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay again.

I was here for one night with a small group tour in late May and I could have stayed forever. This is an incredibly beautiful spot, and the view from my room facing the fjord is now one of my screensavers. Staff here are very friendly and efficient. The room was very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent. I loved this hotel!

I don't typically write poor reviews, but I feel that others should be warned in this case. If you want to be in the heart of activity while in Flam (picture 3000 - 6000 cruise passengers right in front) and you are okay gambling on the room type, this hotel may work for you but know what you are getting into. ||While the hotel site indicates that each room has a fjord view, we were placed in a 1st floor room on the "other side" of the hotel (backside of the main picture) that I would say has a minimal/partial fjord view but more of a parking lot view (i.e., picture cars driving and parking right outside your window). The hotel charges the same for all the rooms and in this case over 4000 NOK/night. While we were registered for 3 guests and were told we couldn't change rooms because our room was set up for 3 guests. The room was not remotely ready for 3 people. The rooms are tiny and I had to ask for linens and set up the pullout bed for our son. There weren't even 3 sets of towels. The sole staff member at check-in, Marie, was apologetic, very kind and lovely, but her hands were tied. With no alternatives, we stayed in that room for the first night and then were able to pack all our things to move to storage and eventually move to a different room for the 2nd night - one that actually overlooked the fjord and had a third sleeping space ready.||I spoke to the manager before check-out (her first availability) who proceeded to try to tell me I only booked for 2 people (which we together confirmed was incorrect) and then told me that no rooms are guaranteed. I urged her and other management to differentiate pricing based on room location, size, type, etc. I believe she said she was looking into that but only offered us 500 NOK for our troubles and didn't even apologize. The staff were helpful and apologized for our inconvenience but Jannike was stoic and not budging for service recovery or anything else.

Overpriced in such a small touristic town. But a nice spot on the harbor, and the balcony makes it nice to sit outside and journal. The one negative is the sound of dripping water all night, which required me to wear earplugs. The breakfast was overall acceptable.

We couldn’t get into our favorite hotel — it was fully booked — so we went with what was available… and we’re so glad we did! Flåmsbrygga Hotell is a gem! The location is unbeatable, with breathtaking views right by the fjord. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. The highlight? The brewpub next door — absolutely amazing food and the IPA beer was something else! One of the best we’ve had in Norway. Everything is right here: the famous train, zipline, bike rentals, floating sauna — all just steps away. We’ll definitely be back! Rating: 5/5 — highly recommended!

Yelp
As quaint as they come! The Flamsbrygga Hotel is in the immediate center of the little hamlet of Flam, with proximity to the tourist excursion piers, restaurants, shops, and cultural/eco walks. The rooms on the front feature balconies with chairs and table, offering wonderfully scenic views of the main fjord harbor. The baggage-stow area is unlocked and does not offer tags or other security, but other than that, the hotel is a total delight!

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel with charming rooms and beautiful views. The staff are helpful and the hotel is in a convenient location. Flam itself is tiny, so I only wish the brewpub was open all day. You have to wait until evening for it to open. Everything is also very expensive even for Norway (an expensive country). Be prepared to shell out a lot of cash for your stay, beer, and food on premises.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at the Flåmsbrygga Hotel. The view from our room was spectacular & the patio was a nice extra space. The breakfast buffet included in the stay was delicious!

Yelp
I had to downgrade what would have been a 4-star experience to 2-star because our one-night stay was incredibly unpleasant for a few hours of the evening... so much so that *spoiler alert* I threw up because I was so nauseous. It started off so great - I was excited to stay in a hotel after being in AirBNBs the whole Scandinavia trip. Our double balcony, second floor room was absolutely gorgeous. The wood used in the room is so warm and the bathroom has some lovely stone tile work, and the view (when no cruise ships are docked) of the water and mountains was beautiful. The hotel is very centrally located, and the restaurant/brewpub is very good. Here's where it all went downhill. During the evening, we had the windows open and started smelling cigarette smoke and heard the raucous noises of a group of young men, smoking on balcony and in the adjacent hotel room. We quickly closed the windows (which had let in a few bugs because there aren't any screens), but that didn't stop the cigarette smoke from seeping through the walls, into the bathroom and bedroom. There was no escape and it was about 10 p.m. Then the nausea set in. I became more and more sick to my stomach until I eventually went into the smoke-filled bathroom and threw up. My fiance complained to the frontdesk and all they did was call the room (we could hear the phone ringing next door, with no one answering). Oh, you mean a group of rowdy boys in their 20s are not going to come inside and answer the landline? I walked by the room to confirm it was a non-smoking room (in fact, the entire hotel is non-smoking). Why have these rules if they are not enforced? As far as we could hear (and boy could we hear everything), the hotel management never got involved past two phone calls to the room. Eventually the boys stopped with their smoking and noise, but not before they ruined what would have been a very pleasant and quiet stay in the beautiful fjordlands. There was no follow up questions from the front desk when we checked out, and no offer to compensate us for our troubles. I understand the hotel can't control the fact that their guests were smoking, but I think there could have been more attention to customer service here.

Yelp
I knew my co-worker and I were going on a business trip that had us in London, England on Friday and Umeå, Sweden on Monday meaning we had a weekend in Europe free. We got the bright idea to fly to Bergen, Norway and travel across the country to Oslo (on our own dime) and then fly out to Umeå from there. On our train ride across Norway, my co-worker booked us to go up to Flåm to see the fjord there and he said there were only two hotels so he chose this one. When we arrived, we laughed realizing that aside from the two hotels, a restaurant, and a 'mall,' there pretty much was nothing else in Flåm! My co-worker booked us at the Flåmsbrygga Hotel and it was pretty much dark by the time we finished checking in so we just hung out in the cozy lobby and chatted for a couple of hours before the restaurant next door opened. The hotel had a nice lobby, the rooms are a decent in size, nothing mind-blowing, but certainly very woodsy feeling. Each has a small balcony which I think I wasn't able to figure out how to open the door so I didn't go outside. It was pouring rain anyway so there wasn't much to do out there. Bathroom is also small, but works. Certainly a room for no more than 2 people. My co-worker's room was identical to mine. My only complaint is that they have a light on the balcony on at all times through the night and the curtains don't cover it well so it's a little on the bright side in the room after turning off the light. We were there in mid-fall so it was quite dark in the morning when we had to get up. Breakfast was in a building across the way in a different building. It was a breakfast buffet that had a lot of options, very Norwegian in the foods. I had toast with jam. Left while it was still mostly dark (at 8:30 AM!) and headed out to Oslo.

Yelp
Upon arrival to Flåm on the ferry, I spotted the hotel instantly. When I entered the hotel property, I was delighted by the outside decor and environment. My room was exactly what I needed and the bed was comfortable. The hotel breakfast was delicious in my opinion and exactly what I needed before a hike. The staff is super helpful and I would recommend this to anyone!

Yelp
The best thing I can say about this hotel is its location. Close to everything including the railroad station. We had a corner room and a great view of the harbor. The problem is it is grossly overpriced at $350 per night for what you get. Also beware it must be a party Hotel. Right now there's a large group of young people who are noisy, smoking up a storm, drinking until after 1:00 in the morning. Since there is no shower door the bathroom floor even around the sink gets wet. We had to wash ourselves with what looked like shaving cream because it comes out of the dispenser as foam. No separate shampoo or conditioner or washcloths provided. The breakfast buffet was adequate but nowhere near as good as it was in Bergen. Guests have to go to a different building for breakfast.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel while touring the country on my own a few years ago. I wanted to take the train from Oslo to Norway and found a lot of hype around detouring through the fjord to Flam. The price is not cheap to stay in such a small town in the fjord but the views are well worth it. The accommodations were neat and clean, with some less modern furnishings. But the place felt homelike. I really enjoyed the breakfast spread and the staff was very friendly. I didn't interact with the staff much since I was out and about taking in the scenic area, though. You really can't forget the beauty in a place like this. It is a hidden gem tucked away behind tall fjord walls. The train creeps around the walls to Flam to showcase the small, breathtaking beauty of the city. I believe my breakfast was included in the hotel's steep price and there were a couple small restaurants and gift stores nearby. I would go here again but next time I am in Norway I will probably not be near Flam. Tusen takk!

Yelp
In terms of a three star hotel, Flamsbrygga is four stars (if that makes any sense). It's located right by the bay, which provides stunning views of the water and fjords, but can also be a source of nuisance when the giant cruise ships come and block your view. It's right next door to Ægir Brewery and Restaurant, the Flåm line, and a Coop Markt. The staff are courteous and the rooms are comfortable (ours had a good-sized balcony with a view of the bay), though we did have some band noise floating over from the other side of the water. The hotel provides a decent buffet breakfast, though I wish they had breakfast available earlier than 7 or 7:30 for those of us who need to catch an early train.

Yelp
This is an adequate hotel for spending the night in Flam. Nothing special. I would advise not staying in the rooms right by the bay. Large cruise ships dock there blocking any view that you might ordinarily have and the PA system from the ships with their constant announcements are loud enough to wake up a bear from its winter nap. The hotel food is also adequate. Wifi is free but infrequent. Room Tip: Stay away from the Fjord and avoid the noise from the large cruise ships.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant. We had the buffet breakfast each day we were here. At $20 per person, it's an incredibly deal for Norway. The buffet had eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns and a wide array of things typically seen in European breakfasts: a wide selection of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts and pastries. Yum! Wish we could afford to stay at this hotel, the views must be amazing.
