First time dining here. It was a Tuesday night so not crowded at all. Loved my chicken Marsala with basmati rice. Clean restaurant and warm decor. Lots of choices on their menu. Will definitely dine here again.

I recently visited Flavors of India and was impressed with their food. The complimentary pappad and mango chutney were delightful, and the Chicken Soup, Chapati, and Egg Curry exceeded my expectations. Cons: However, I observed a concerning inconsistency in customer service based on ethnicity. While the service was pleasant towards non-Indian customers, the treatment towards us seemed rude, which was disappointing. Addressing this issue would greatly enhance the dining experience for all patrons.

My wife and I like this place. It is decent food. The last time we went wasn't quite as good as previous visits, for reasons listed below. We started with the onion bhujia. It was good, but looked to be a bit overcooked and dark. (see photo) My wife had the chicken zafrani. It was nice. I asked for the chicken vindaloo. Here is how it is described on menu: Chicken Vindaloo (Hot) Diced chicken with potatoes in a sharply spiced gravy. The waiter (owner as well?) asked how spicy I wanted it. My wife replied for me and said "spicy". When it came out, it had good flavor, but barely any spice. I was definitely disappointed, and mentioned it to waiter/owner. Maybe I was profiled for being white? The rice, as always, was great. We will definitely return. 11/20/24 They still don't add a lot of spice to the chicken vindaloo if they ask you if you want it spicy. But for the most part, everything still tastes good. I would not recommend the coconut naan as the desiccated coconut in it really dries you out.

Subject: Disappointing Experience on Christmas Evening I want to share my disappointing experience with Flavour of India on Christmas evening. I called the restaurant to check if they were open and asked about vegetarian options. Despite it being 35 minutes before closing, the person I spoke to was rude and unprofessional. He made irrelevant comments like asking if I wanted “cramp,” which was both confusing and disrespectful. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told there was a rush, but the place was completely empty. To make matters worse, the person claimed he couldn’t hear my voice earlier, which felt like an excuse. The entire interaction left me feeling dissatisfied and frustrated. I expected much better service, especially on a festive evening, as this was an Christmas . This experience has made me rethink dining at Flavour of India in the future.

The food is great here. Seasoned well and fresh. The crack head activities in the parking lot is very wild. Not safe, liquor store next door has people parked in front so you can’t move and they are aggressive. Be alert!!!!

I have visited this establishment seven times, drawn to its purported homemade Indian cuisine. However, my wife, a native of this region, experiences diarrhea after each visit. We believe the food quality is substandard; the rice, in particular, appears stale. Telegu vallu aasalu ravadu, FAKE Flavors

My son and I went to the buffet. We both enjoyed our meal. I know nothing about Indian food, but I liked everything I tried. I am looking forward to going back. I live an hour and fifteen minutes away.

Google
The restaurant looks unassuming, but inside is hidden absolutely perfect Indian food verified by years of visits. The whole family loves this buffet! Authentic and tasty food!

Yelp
I didn't know what to order so we had the combination platters, one vegetation and one meat. Our favorites on the platters: the spinach and cheese; and the lamb curry. The platters each came with a veggie curry that appeared to be a frozen veggie mix with curry, so while it was tasty, it wasn't very interesting. Each platter comes with naan. The vegetarian platter also comes with dessert (rice pudding) - we had to request it, I'm not sure we would have gotten it if we didn't ask. The combos also came with a lentil - this was ok but lacked flavor. We got a mango lassi to go - that was very good. Definitely would love to come back to try their buffet.

Yelp
Small business with pretty decent indian food. It is hard to find great diverse food in Smyrna/Dover, so we were happy to find this place. We came for the lunch buffet on the weekend and it was a great deal for $14.95 per person! The staff were very nice and attentive with clearing plates from the table. Once you get seated, you are asked if you'd like plain or garlic naan. The naan was pretty good and comes out warm! There is a great variety of meat and veg options with a few dessert options. There was also mango juice and chai when we went. Overall- great place for the area! We will visit again soon.

Yelp
Excellent and unequaled buffet Indian meals covering all varieties of food from the subcontinent

Yelp
Menu has something for everyone and the prices are pretty standard for an Indian restaurant. Customer service is good and food is ready pretty quickly, Got the Fish Curry with Potatoes which has the description of "truly Bengali style fish curry with potatoes." My mom loved it and said it hit the spot. She was on the verge of tears.

Yelp
While this used to be our go-to-spot for Indian food in Southern DE, I was quite disappointed by my most recent visit. The napkins and tablecloths were dirty, and the food was bland and flavorless. We normally love the vegetable korma here but this time around, the curry was completely flavorless. Even the kadai paneer had no flavor, and the curry was not as thick and rich as it should be. The papadum starter is a nice touch. We also enjoyed the vegetable manchurian appetizer. It came out as a sizzling platter which I have not seen elsewhere! The texture was perfectly crispy, but the sauce it was covered in was too sweet. The front of the restaurant is all run by a single employee. We were impressed by how quick the service was despite having only one employee. The change in food quality may reflect a change in staff/ownership, as our normal server was no longer there. The interior is nothing special and the place itself hasn't gone through any upgrades/renovations in the 26 years I've been going here. I am sad to say this, but unfortunately, I won't be returning as I have found better options by the beaches in southern DE.

Yelp
My favorite Indian restaurant in Delaware! The lunch buffet has ample variety of vegetable korma, chicken tika masala, goat curry, saag paneer, etc. Don't leave without trying the Indian tea!

Yelp
The food is delicious. The best onion bahji that I ever had. Their chicken dishes as a main course are great, although anyone who doesn't like spicy would have to ask that they tone it down. For me, the medium spice was perfect but still on the hot side. I highly recommend them.

Yelp
I love Indian Food and this place made me so happy. I met some friends there for dinner when I was in town for the weekend- so glad we chose this place. The food had perfect flavor, although it could have been a bit spicier for some. The naan (regular and garlic) were so so good; I probably could have had two more plates of it. The portions were plentiful. They provided more rice when needed and gave you some to take home with your leftovers. The chicken tikka masala and the chicken Makhanwala both had incredible flavor. The inside was nothing special, typical restaurant flair. I highly recommend checking this location out.

Yelp
We got to go. The place has no ambience but boy the food is good! We got garlic naan, samosas, number 47 and the chef special appetizer. I could have done without the chef special appetizer cause it was like my meal but without rice. The basmati rice was the most fragrant and tasty. We have eaten Indian in Lewes and rehoboth and we found this comparable and way less expensive.

Yelp
I love this restaurant!! It's been voted "BEST IN DELAWARE" for 13 years running and I understand why! The food is fabulous, the staff are attentive and friendly. The owner is kind and as we say in Italian, "sympatico". If I ever want to try something different, they are always open to recommendations. Along with Mediterranean food and Thai food, Indian is my favorite ethnic food. I greatly admire that this business is locally owned as I am passionate about supporting locally-owned business.

Katelyn B.

Yelp
Great food, quick service, and calm environment. Butter chicken 10/10, rice 10/10, samosas 10/10.

Yelp
The food was very good and was out quickly! My dad and I stopped in on the way out of DE and the service was quick and the staff was very polite!!

Yelp
I was in the area for work and ordered lunch from this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp saag and naan bread. I thought it was very flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I would order it again.

David J C.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place. I had heard about it for years. The buffet had lots of choices. However, some of the meat dishes were "cold." The best items that I tried were the naan, butter chicken, and mango lassi. I settled on eating the garlic naan with the sauce from the garlic chicken. I don't think I would go back. The apparent owner had no customer service skills. The decor was pretty limited.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! I have a friend who takes it all the way to their house in NJ! Try their iced tea. The Buffett is the best.

Yelp
I was in the Dover Deleware area and met some friends for dinner at the Flavor of India. I knew how much my friends loved Indian food. Well, this place did not disappoint. This is authentic Indian food. Great flavor and nice size portions. We all brought doggy bags home. Our waitstaff were very attentive and made sure we did not wait long for our food. Don't let the location stop you from going inside to eat... it's in a tiny strip mall next to a liquor store. Go in and enjoy the delicious food. We will definitely be back the next time I'm in the Dover Deleware area.

Yelp
Great weekday lunch buffet! Best Indian in Dover. Service is friendly and fast. He comes right over as soon as you sit. Not much ambiance but it's still not bad.

Yelp
expand your horizons . why is there only a table of food if it's a buffet. shouldn't be that much either. service was ok . ambiance was ok .

Michele S.

Yelp
Went here for the first time in late September and then again in early October. Heading there again tomorrow. Food is not the best buffet I've ever had but I live just outside Philly so am very fortunate. Even so, one visit each month shows that I enjoy many of the selections, enough to earn them consistent revisits. Price is fair, the naan is hot and delicious (you receive a basket), service is good (plates are cleared quickly, water refilled). Definitely go if you enjoy a big assortment of food. Spicy enough to know you're eating Indian food but enough mild food for those who require it.

Yelp
Have to laugh a little at the "Best in Delaware" rating. Not because its not worthy of the title, but because there are not many Indian restaurants at all in Delaware. I moved from Northern VA where there are dozens to pick from. Live in Bridgeville now so when I saw they had a lunch buffet, I drove on up to give it a try. Although they are on a busy street, its hard to spot. Use your GPS to find it. They are close to where Rt. 13 and 113 join. They have a good variety of food to chose from. Good vegetarian selection as well. They have extra spice at the food tables. A good thing as the food is not very spicy. But that is understandable considering the restaurant is in Delaware and a buffet has to cater to everyone. Would suggest they add a spicy dish or two to the buffet that is clearly marked for those that don't like food too spicy. I also like goat and lamb but realize these selections would cost them more. The deserts were good and I like they have more than one. I am guessing their dinner is very good as well and will return some time to try it out. I am thrilled there is an Indian buffet at all in Delaware. The only other two Indian restaurants in Delaware that are close to me are in Rhehoboth. They both don't have a buffet and are also somewhat pricey. I plan to return to this restaurant at least once a month for the buffet and look forward to other selections they choose to put on the food tables.

Yelp
Food smells and tastes amazing. Lots of vegetarian choices, the service is very quick and polite.

Onthespot ..

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. It's not greasy, too strong or too spicy. Often times we struggle to find a place that doesn't overload he food with spices. This place was perfect. It felt natural and didn't upset my stomach at all. The customer service was also one that made it even better. Very friendly! I found my go to Indian food stop! I will be back!

Katherine C.

Yelp
I have been eating here for over a decade and the quality, quantity, and prices have been consistently FANTASTIC. The service is always personal yet professional. The buffet is the best culinary thing to happen to this town to date. Make sure to get a mango lassi! And of course, tons of healthy delicious varied vegetarian options. Don't let its humble exterior fool you either, it is always comfortable and even kind of luxurious inside especially if you are lucky enough to to go when its not busy. Thank you for adding so much to our local community!

Yelp
First time trying this place after driving by many times! We went to dinner on a Wednesday night. We started with the samosas which were delicious! Perfectly friend and filled with potatoes/spice goodness. I then ordered the lamb kabob. Our meals came with rice and we had the garlic nann come out at the same time. My lamb came out sizzling on a hot plate with onions and green peppers. Spiced on the lamb we're delicious and the meat was juicy. Everything was super delicious especially with the brown sauce they provided at the table. The garlic nann was crispy and fluffy with tons of garlic. Overall the meal was delicious and plentiful. I ate on the meal two other times! Can't wait to come back and try some other items on the menu :)

Yelp
We had business in the area and wanted to try something new so I searched for restaurants in the area. This cuisine is unfamiliar to us, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, the establishment was clean, and the gentleman (perhaps the owner) and his service was nice. I don't know the dishes we tried at the buffet, but we intend to return to find out!

Yelp
Friendly service. Great Lunch buffet. Very reasonable price! Will be back again! Thanks so much!

Yelp
...Has never disappointed, whether I am enjoying the lunch buffet or a sit down menu meal... The food is fresh, hot and delicious!

Barbara M.

Yelp
We have gotten takeout twice and every dish was outstanding. Wonderfully flavorful food, perfectly seasoned, generous portions and reasonable prices.
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
Great spot for delicious food. Service was wonderful and portions were HUGE. I had biryanis which is a rice dish with meat and vegetables. It had spice but wasn't too spicy. We also had the sample appetizer where you get a little of everything. My favorite was the cauliflower but everything was awesome. I would definitely go back! And I'd love to try their lunch buffet sometime.
google avatar

Jordan P.

Yelp
Place was a little dirt but who cares the food is amazing and it's a good price. Waiter was really awesome and the owner seams like a good dude. For Indian food the taste and price can't be matched around here.
google avatar

Sarah J.

Yelp
Have been to this restaurant many many many many times. And the reason we give it a 5 is because we order the same things from Tony and he knows what we like. I am actually embarrassed that this is the first time posting a review because like all Other locals I have eaten here for at least once a month for the past 20 years. Butter chicken ( my son likes it) , garlic naan , dal tadka ( very good if spicy and this is what j always eat ) goat curry . Samosas are good. Gulan jamun is good. So the days we want Indian and k don't want to mess my kitchen... if and lately the best item is the chicken soup- it is so good!!!
google avatar

Kenny D.

Yelp
This place never ceases to impress! Every dish I've had here has been absolutely delicious!! My latest adventure was the Chicken Tandoori and is my favorite so far!! No matter what you get you will be happy!!
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
There's a reason they win awards every year. This place is so good it's worth rolling the dice during a global pandemic. Highly recommended! I didn't try a dish here that I didn't enjoy. And it was very reasonably priced. The food is spiced excellently-just enough heat to get your nose running...or is that coronavirus?

Yelp
Best Indian food in Delaware. Dine in is better than the buffet. Owner and wait staff know the menu and provide one of the best dining experiences in the state. I moved to Delaware from DC Suburbs and the restaurant is competitive with Indian cuisine there.

Karen D.

Yelp
Great cuisine! Have been there many time and never left disappointed. I drive into Dover just to enjoy the food and the great prices.

Destiny M.

Yelp
Great food and a nice buffet, friendly and good service they play music from India. My favorite restraunt, you never have to ask for water, they are always right there. Really the best restaurant in Dover.

Chushma K.

Yelp
We went for a weekday lunch buffet and the spread was good. Lot of veg and non veg options along with chaats were available. Taste of the food was ok. Ambience of the place was average. Service was good.
google avatar

Thomas L.

Yelp
Every Sunday, my family and I are there for the buffet. And on the days that we want to order off the menu, the food is still good! Recommend the seafood platter.
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
We ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and chicken biryani. The meat wasn't tender as I'm used to. Instead it was tough chunks of chicken. It was just an average meal. If I were to rate the garlic naan that would be a 5 star by itself.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Such great food. We have only done take out but each time our meal is hot and correct. The flavors are amazing and we always enjoy their food
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
If you're looking to get some delicious Indian food, look no further! The restaurant isn't very large, it probably has about 12 small tables and doesn't look like much on the outside, but man does the food taste good! If you've never had Indian food, or aren't sure what to get, don't worry, the buffet is here to the rescue! The prices are also very reasonable. When you go, don't forget to get the garlic naan! Yummy! We can't get enough!

Andreas D.

Yelp
The lunch buffet is the best around and tastefully filling... We've had dinner before as well and the dishes are well portioned and tasty. The decor is a bit dated and staff aren't as friendly but the food more than makes up for that whether it's lunch or dinner. Fresh Naan bread is an added bonus.

G W.

Yelp
While the ambiance is simple, you'll find some of the freshest and best tasting food around. The service is consistently good.
google avatar

Pat N.

Yelp
Great service. The foods are so well prepared and authentic. A true find for those who love Indian foods.

Yelp
I love Indian food. So when I moved to Dover a few weeks ago, I immediately found this restaurant. I have ordered from here five times now. The food is good, BUT: It is incredibly similar. I have tried different dishes, and EVERY dish I have ordered seems the same: a few pieces of chicken or fish, swimming in a very large pool of creamy tomato sauce. it doesn't seem to matter whether I order a pandoori, a tika, a curry, or a masala -- it ALL comes out the same: a few pieces of food, and enough sauce to last a dozen meals. I have eaten Indian food for enough years, and in enough cities, to know that all dishes are not supposed to be in THE SAME SAUCE. In the past month I have ordered the following: Chicken Mahkanwala Chicken Tikka Masala Murg Tandoori Fish Masala ALL of these looked AND TASTED the same. Look at the picture below: can you tell which of these dishes I ordered? I couldn't.

Ana S.

Yelp
Every time my niece and I go our food is so good, and the waiter is always so nice.. I never had a problem with Flavor of India

Yelp
Prior to COVID, this was my go-to lunch spot. I would go a few times during the week. The buffet was amazing. The food was always fresh, hot, and plentiful. The server person and owner were always friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I have not been since COVID, but it seems they are still providing excellent food and service. I miss going there and hope to get back soon.

Yelp
Went for lunch this week and highly recommend - lunch has a buffet option - served to customers which I was glad about - and a great way to try different dishes at a reasonable cost plus you could have a second plate at same cost if you had the ability to eat all that food! House made garlic naan was DELICIOUS! Server was attentive and available and filled my water glass 3x. Good experience. My second time only at an Indian restaurant.
