"On the 3-hour, small-group Classic Old San Juan Food Tour, guests stop for tastings at four or five restaurants while walking through the walled city. An experienced bilingual guide stops at the best places to dine in Old San Juan, with dishes that include ceviche, mofongos, seafood, flan, and pastries. There's a stop for Puerto Rico's legendary rum cocktail, the Piña Colada, as well as premium coffee, gelato, paletas, and chocolate. While strolling along the cobblestone streets of the Spanish colonial city, guests will hear about its unique architecture and see the second oldest church in the Americas and other historic landmarks. By the end of the tour, the well-fed guests will be familiar with the contemporary and traditional cuisine of Puerto Rico." - Travel + Leisure Editors

My husband and I are so glad we took this tour! We gained an understanding of Puerto Rican culture and history as well as the cuisine as we sampled a variety of local drinks and foods in Old Town San Juan. Our guide, Pablo, was very possibly the best tour guide we have ever encountered! His enthusiasm and wide range of knowledge was an unexpected bonus during this experience. We highly recommend this tour and, if possible, Pablo as your guide!

Google
This was an amazing way to start my trip to Puerto Rico. Combining delicious food with the interesting history of the island and an easy walk in beautiful weather. Our tour guide, Fabián, was fun and friendly and helped us quickly bond as a group. We all left with full bellies and happy hearts - highly recommend.

We went on a 2hr historic walking tour of Old San Juan with ALBERTO from “Flavors of San Juan” as our guide, and it was the best thing we could do as one of the first activities on our trip to San Juan. Alberto was amazing - being a historian and a teacher by profession, he knew how to keep the group intrigued, entertained, while making it seem like it was a personalized tour for each one of us. He was caring about us guests, had given us detailed instructions on where to meet, spent time after the tour to give us guidance on any other questions and places to visit in San Juan. His presentation was very informative and there was lots of humor. The memories we made as part of Alberto’s tour will stay with us forever! Highly recommended tour with Alberto as your guide!!

Google
This tour is an absolute must! I feel so grateful to have explored San Juan through the delicious food, stories and sights that our guide, Alberto, shared with us today. Alberto is passionate, fun, and a history buff! His genuine hospitality made this experience memorable. I will most certainly be back to Puerto Rico, and will most certainly do this tour again. Cheers!

Google
This tour was the perfect way to spend the afternoon in Old San Juan with my family! I highly recommend it if you love food, history, fun, and culture. Ricardo was so much fun and full of so much local, Caribbean and world knowledge. Each of us learned something new and we all had a great time!

Google
Our tour guide Alberto Reyes did a great job of showing us around Old San Juan! Not only did he describe the delicious foods that we ate, but he also gave us a great historical tour of the city, answered a wide range of questions , and provided recommendation for all sorts of places to visit. He had a great energy and really made it an extra worthwhile tour! I strongly recommend it as an early stop for anyone visiting San Juan.

Google
Our leader Fabian today was phenomenal. His knowledge and presentation of history was A+. We learned so much and grew an appreciation for Puerto Rico and the history thereof. The food selections were tasty and well spaced with not too much and not too little. Thanks Fabian and if you ever make to the cornfields of Indiana again, find us. 😍. We wish you great blessing and success as you continue serving. You rock!

Google
Fantastic tour with a variety of foods, sprinkled with some history. The photo below is our guide, Leslie Ann, pausing on walk to the next restaurant and explaining how the paint colors are selected. Leslie Ann was fun and knowledgeable, I would highly recommend this tour!

Yelp
Fantastic tour of old San Juan that already has me planning a trip for next year as we hardly saw even half of what we want to. Our tour guide Nahomy was excellent and very knowledgeable. So glad we took the time but just wish we would've spent three times as much in old San Juan

Yelp
In May 2024, my husband and I went on this foodie tour and it was wonderful! Yoli was our guide and she brought the energy right from the start! She had us introduce ourselves and remembered everyone's names the entire time. We went to a few different popular places in San Juan and got some of the well known dishes and drinks to the area. They were very accommodating for those of us non-coffee drinkers at our first stop of the day (it was actually me, I was the only non-coffee drinker). We were able to try different foods, desserts, and other goodies specific to San Juan all the while taking in different sites along the way while Yoli narrated about the different areas we passed by. We even got to make our own Mofongo. I'd highly recommend this foodie tour if you're in the area!

Yelp
We did the rum runners tour and it was a great experience! Fabián our guide was exceptional. He taught us about rums and also explained the history of Puerto Rico. A really good experience and definitely recommend. Best mojito I've ever had in my life and I like rum.

Yelp
What an amazing food tour and a way to get to know the depth of San Juan's history, beyond just their food origins! Carola, the tour guide, was one of the best I have met, and she really knows her San Juan history. The tour starts off from a super delish ham croissant and flavorful Puerto Rican coffee from Cafe Cuatro Sombras, which really set the tone for me. Then the fried cheeses from La Picadera was the perfect next transition. Loved seeing the three jumbo heads and hearing Carola explain the significance of those rotating jumbo heads on Picadera's wall. The main chicken dish at Casa Luna was the highlight and my favorite meal of this tour! Flavor of the chicken was to die for, and I really enjoyed grinding my plantains as shown in my photo. The dessert provided at chocobar was a rather letdown. There were at least two participants that chose not to eat it and I thought it was kinda cheap of chocobar to offer that "chocolate pastry" which tasted mediocre at best. It ruined my otherwise five-star experience of this food tour.

Shani L.

Yelp
Cool walking (some steep hills) tour in San Juan. I loved Alexandra's historical knowledge of the cuisine and Puerto Rico in general. I deducted two stars for the restaurant and food selection. If all of the restaurants were like the first it would be 5 stars. The pulled pork slider were amazing. Please add a seafood option like ceviche, octopus, conch, ceti and a traditional street food like Rellenos de papa or pasteles to every tour. Even if it's small bites to share. Two frozen desserts should not be included for this $$$. Maybe one is fine but not two. No, it wasn't flan or casquitos de guayaba. Also, we had two separate orders of plantains. With all of the different food options in PR we should had more diversity in flavors. That said, I would still suggest it. Remember your walking shoes and go with an open mind. This is more of a casual food/history tour. The drink of the day wasn't even in a glass and no it wasn't a Coquito. Again, not a huge deal but for the price plus expected tip I would expect more.

Matt L.

Yelp
Do this tour for a taste ;) of what San Juan is all about. You won't regret it (Flavors of Old San Juan) Fantastic way to learn about the culture of Puerto Rico. Our guide, Pablo, spoke knowledgably on the food, history, and culture of PR. It came as no surprise when we learned that he's studying Political Science as well as History at University. The food was well balanced and tasty, all while experiencing some of the beautiful buildings in Old San Juan.

Collette D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the tour, history and food. The weather was perfect and the guide was full knowledge and energy. He kept was interactive with the tour which I really enjoyed. One of the first on foot tours I've taken and I was not disappointed.

Cary S.

Yelp
Tour guide was great. She knew her history of Puerto Rico and the food was delish. I would recommend them to anyone.

Yelp
If you plan on visiting Old San Juan and have a few hours to spare and have already been to El Morro and San Cristobal forts, I would suggest you consider checking this business out. They offer walking tours around Old San Juan which they combine with food and/or cocktails. They have the Original Food Tour and the Express Food Tour. Here you will make a few stops to sample some food from local eateries. If you want to get your dink on, they also have two cocktail centered tours. They even offer a straight walking tour, as well as corporate and private tours. My wife and I did the Classic Food Tour. I'm a local but I enjoy domestic tourism, and that includes these kinds of tours. You always learn something new. I also enjoy food (and booze). Our guide was Yolo. Our group was small. Not sure if they always have small groups or if it was because of covid. Either way, I prefer small groups. The tour consisted of 5 stops. They were (I wrote a review of each on their respective Yelp page): - St. Germain Bistro & Café: quick breakfast - Señor Paleta: snack - Café El Punto: appetizers - Vaca Brava: mojito making and lunch - Chocobar Cortés: dessert In between each stop, Yoli walked us up and down the streets explain the history of the city and showing us a few points of interest. She did a good job explaining things. She knew her stuff. A small critique would be that she missed the opportunity to talk about the Capilla del Cristo. It is an iconic site and has an interesting origin story. Instead, she only talked about the Parque de las Palomas (pigeon park) which is adjacent to the chapel. But overall, she was great. I enjoyed learning about the antique banking district and its architecture. Those were things I didn't know about. I also didn't know about the piece of history revolving around St. Germain Bistro, nor the history of the Cortés family. Things like that, plus the food, made this tour worth it.

Gleicyane G.

Yelp
I booked a food tour in Old San Juan for my husband as a Christmas present though Get Your Guide. It turns out the company that runs the tour was Flavors of San Juan. Our guide was Yoli. She was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We made 5 stops in between our stroll through the streets of Old San Juan seeing various points of interest and learning about the city's history. 1st stop: St. Germain Bistro, where we had breakfast. Excellent mallorca sandwich. We learned about the café's role in an important piece of PR history. 2nd stop: Señor Paleta. We snacked on a paleta while Yoli told us the early history of the city while overlooking the San Juan Bay. 3rd stop: Café El Punto, where we tried some alcapurrias de carne and ceviche and learned about the folkloric character of the Vejigante. 4th stop: Vaca Brava where we got to make out own mojitos and had lunch. This was the weakest stop imo. The lunch was good but not great. I've had, and made, better. 5th stop: Chocobar Cortés. This was the dessert stop where we were treated to a chocolate wrapped quesito and learned about the Cortés family. Overall, the tour was fun. We met some nice people in our group and got to try a few good food spots. Also, I got a good workout with all that walking. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a good tour in Old San Juan. Request Yoli. The company also gives some booze tours, if that is more your liking. They have the RUm Runners Craft Cocktail Tour (night tour) and the Boozy Bites Tour. Those seem interesting. You can check their website for more infor and pricing. After booking the tour, I found that if I had booked on their website I would have palyed less that what I did through Get Your Guide.

Yelp
Honestly, I would go on this tour to hang out with Marjorie again! She is so passionate and knowledgeable and allows for a very fun and engaging experience for all of the guests. You can truly tell she loves what she does. It was more than just a food tour it was an overall amazing and educational experience, all thanks to Marjorie. We even made our own Mofongo! This tour was the highlight of our trip and definitely a must. If possible, I would try to request to have Marjorie as your guide! First Stop: Cuatro Sombras -Cortadito (macchiato coffee) -Croissant with black forest ham, swiss cheese and guava butter Second Stop: Señor Paleta -Passion fruit popsicle Third Stop: Patio de Sam   -Fried pork with Tostones   Fourth Stop: Triana -Mojito cocktail ⁃Mofongo (fried plantains with garlic, onion and butter) - Chicken w/ broth -Rice and beans Fifth Stop: Bari -Flan

Yelp
I love learning about culture through food, with some history mixed in, and found this tour from searching/TripAdvisor reviews before I went to San Juan. I would prefer to start my trip with this, but because I was in PR for work, I had to save it for last with the half day I had on Sunday before my flight. The tour began at 10 AM, and I had already confirmed that I do not eat pork in writing, by calling earlier in the week, and texting with my guide Jesus an hour before the tour. I arrived first, 20 minutes early at the meeting spot, and Jesus was there shortly thereafter. Everyone else arrived a little late, and he was only willing to wait until 10 minutes after the start time. Our first stop was Cuatro Sombres for breakfast, where were offered a cortado (espresso and milk) and a croissant. These were ham and cheese so even though I confirmed a zillion times I do not eat pork, I guess that did not register initially. However, Jesus was able to get the restaurant to make me a croissant without ham so I still had cheese, and the secret ingredient, Guava Butter! Our second stop was Senor Paleta for a "snack" of passionfruit popsicle, perfect on a warm, humid day. We then walked to Cafe El Punto for appetizers, a beef stuffed alcapurria (like an empanada made with yucca dough) and a happy spoon with refreshing ceviche. I could not eat much of the alcapurria because it had a hair cooked into the dough which turned me off. It happens, but it was a bit yucky to see while eating. Our entree stop was El Patio de Sam, where we imbibed on frozen pina coladas, then were served a "make your own mofongo." This entailed using a pilon to smash twice-fried plantains in garlic, butter, and salt (like a mortar and pestle) and stuff it with the chicken on the plate, then turn it over to eat with rice and beans. It was delicious! Our last stop for dessert was Chocobar Corte, where we had a chocolate quesito (like a decadent pastry with sweet cheese and chocolate inside). It was divine! Of course, we meandered through Old San Juan, learned about the history of certain places and political events, and had nice conversation amongst the group and with our guide. I would definitely recommend trying this or the evening rum tour as well!

Lori H.

Yelp
Great tour! It didn't feel long or like a lot of walking. Our guide (the guide with a fancy mustache) was really well versed on the history of San Juan and he gave us a lot of info but didn't drone on about it. He kept it short and sweet and allowed us to really make the most of our time. Highly recommend!

Kara C.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this food tour! Yoli was so knowledgeable about not only the food spots but also the city's history too! Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!! The food was delicious and we definitely left with a happy heart and a full belly!

Larry H.

Yelp
Excellent tour. Our guide, Carola, was excellent and very knowledgeable. So much food! 5 stops, all delicious. Great history lessons also.

Elaine R.

Yelp
Nahiomy gave us great food and a superb overview of Puerto Rico - both its history and life today. She was great at answering our questions. For example, "Why so much fried food?" The most memorable stop on the tour was at Patio de Sam, where we ate mofongo (see picture of the mashing of the plantains part) and drank pina coladas. Yelp
We took in the tour on the Fourth of July weekend. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the city's history (which I found the most fascinating). Their were five food stops which included: -Cuatro Sombras -Senor Paleta -Cafe el Punto -Trigna Tapas & Flamenco -Chocolato and a few historical stops along the way. Would highly recommend the tour!

Dawn S.

Yelp
Not the food we expected! The excursion on Celebrity sold out very early- so this sounded good. The guide was nice- but we ended up at a lot of dive bars with bits of fried foods. Not a foodie tour!

Maurice T.

Yelp
I Had a really good time and the food was pretty solid I would definitely recommend! The tour guide was very friendly and very informative on San Juan I ended up learning a bunch of history I didn't know before!

Britt H.

Yelp
Marjorie was an amazing guide and everything was so delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Walter B.

Yelp
This was a great walking tour of Old San Juan that fit perfectly with our cruise ship visit giving us plenty of time to explore San Juan after the tour. I will say first that if you are mobility challenged or have any difficulties walking on uneven surfaces, the streets and sidewalks of Old San Juan can be very uneven and very narrow at times. That could make it a bit of a challenge. Now for the tour, we had Nahiomy who was an absolute joy throughout the entire tour. Lots of energy and a whole lot of fantastic information about the history of the island and more recent events. We did a total of 5 food stops including coffee with amazing sandwiches, fresh popsicles, Puerto Rican fritters and ceviche, hand made Mufongo (which we made ourselves) and ended up with an incredible pastry dessert at a local chocolate shop. Along the way we had about a 20 minute break in between restaurants where we explored a local spice shop which was a great spot to grab gifts or cooking spices to take home. After the tour Nahomy even guided back to an area of town where we wanted to do some post-tour shopping. All in all a fantastic 3 1/2 hour tour that gave us plenty of time to explore San Juan before heading back to our cruise ship.

Yelp
Bottom Line Up Front: Tour Guide = Amazing (5 Stars) Food = Great (4.5 Stars) Value For Money = Eh (3 Stars) Yelpers, I have been on 20+ food tours around the world and this has by far been the most expensive ($125) without any real difference in the product received. For example in the past year, I went on a food tour in Austin for $69, Florence for $85, and Boston for $84. Aside from the disproportional cost, the tour was excellent. Our tour guide, Valentina, was energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable. She had a superb understanding of the city, food, and history of San Juan and Puerto Rico. When she shared information, I felt like I was in the presence of an astute politician who could quickly understand the situation and provide the perfect insight. There were not filler words in her presentation, and she was highly confident. Additionally, the places we went to were unique and had cool back stories with tasty bites. I personally thought the coolest experience was mashing mofongo (an authentic Puerto Rican dish) and then eating it. As a food tour, this was in line with what I expect. For the price I paid, this should have been far more.

Tom O.

Yelp
This is the the third "Tasting" tour we have taken (have also done Key West and Amsterdam ) and by far the best we have ever experienced. Our guide, Riccardo, is a Tourism History teacher at a local college and, consequently, we learned a lot about San Juan, Puerto Rico and the entire Caribbean going back as far as Columbus in the 1400s. His wealth of knowledge made the time we spent with him most interesting. The food we enjoyed was amazing and much more than we expected. There were six stops in all and hard to say which was best.  We especially liked the Guava Butter Croissant at 4 sombras and the Alcapurrias and Ceviche at Cafe El Porto. Highly recommend this tasting tour and if you can get Ricardo for your guide you will be in for a most enjoyable  experience.

Andrea M.

Yelp
This was highlight of trip! Our guide Naohemi was unbelievably funny, helpful and chatty. We learned so much. And the food on the tour was perfect. Go on an empty stomach!

Catherine P.

Yelp
We had our walking foodie tour of Old San Juan on Sunday and wanted to share our review. The tour started 15 minutes late which was a bummer for a couple reasons- 1) we had already been sitting outside in the sun for 30 minutes because they asked us to arrive early and 2) the tour wasn't extended by 15 so felt like we were a little taken of time. The tour itself was fine - good history, good food - but these were some of the odd parts: 1) The food history explanation was a bit odd by Andi and became a little political and very focused on racism; 2) Andi has some social awkwardness where she talked about her dad, boyfriend, and asked for tips in weird ways Think if we had a different guide to make those two things better, would have been great!

Rylee K.

Yelp
We had Carola as our guide. We went on the classic Old San Huan Tour. Carola was amazing, we learned so much about the food, the restaurants, and the culture, and she was very fun to be with. Our group was only 5 and she made the tour feel very personal. The places we went to were far enough apart where you see the town, but not so far that you are going on a huge long hike and get tired. We ate delicious food, places we went back to later in the trip, and at the end we were perfectly full- full enough to not be hungry for some time, yet not so full that we couldn't keep walking the town. We went to 5 stops (breakfast, apps, palate cleanser, entree, and dessert).

Arabella P.

Yelp
My husband and I did the 2 hour walking tour. Our tour guide Pablo was delightful and such an engaging, friendly young man who clearly demonstrates pride in his heritage! As a fellow Puerto Rican who was born on the mainland I was full of questions and he didn't disappoint. He assisted other members of our tours with recommendations and encouraged us to text him after the tour should we have any questions that we come up with afterwards. It rained briefly and he handed out rain ponchos. I am so glad I booked this tour! My husband is too. ;-)

Kristina O.

Yelp
This is the best tour I've ever taken. Ricardo was our guide and was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was engaging and fun. He shared so many interesting and entertaining stories and history which only enhanced our tour. The food places he took us were fabulous. I liked 4 Sombras and Casa Luna the best. The guava butter croissant from 4 Sombras was amazing. I had mofongo for the first time at Casa Luna and LOVED it. We enjoyed this tour so much we have already suggested it to random people we have met during our stay!

Jeanie W.

Yelp
Alberto was a phenomenal guide! He was fun, personable and incredibly knowledgeable. Learning about the history of San Juan and the local food was the best experience we had! We were blown away at the food and drinks. It is a must do! We would definitely do it again! Thank you Viator and Alberto!!

Felix R.

Yelp
My wife and I are 1st timers to Puerto Rico, so we decided to do an Old San Juan tour that includes food and drinks. We arrived an hour early at the departure point, we sat and enjoyed the afternoon Caribbean breeze. Shortly thereafter we saw a person with a green shirt, so we asked "Hi, are you part of the Flavors of Old San Juan tour?" and Yes she was, actually she's our guide. Her name is Itzel (and she has a fantastic story behind her name). We were a merry dozen (group of 12), as we sauntered with Itzel guiding us through the cobbled streets of Old San Juan. Itzel is funny, very entertaining, smart, highly knowledgeable, patient, cordial and helpful. As a guide she excels and as a person she's outstanding! We learned so much about the colonial city from her. We had a 5 meals/drinks stops: 1st) Café Cuatro Sombras (Four Shadows Cafe) There we had a breakfast meal and drink: -Cortadito (Expresso w/ Milk) -Croissant with Ham & Cheese in a Guava flavored croissant bread. 2nd) Señor Paleta (Mister Popsicle) -Here we had a sweet cold Passion fruit popsicle 3rd)Café El Punto (The Point Cafe) We had the best: -Alcappurria a fritter stuffed with meat. -Ceviche a grouper cooked in lime juice w/ avocado and onions. 4th)Triana where we experienced mashing our own Mofongo (mashed fried plantains with garlic) -Mofongo, garlic, butter & chicken -Rice & Beans -Mojitos and lastly dessert 5th) Chocolato Where we all get to pick our different flavors of Gelatos and mix it with a shot of espresso called Affogato. Marvelous, stupendous and fun experience. Huge Thanks to Itzel our guide for her outstanding guidance!

Ann B.

Yelp
This is a fabulous way to find some great restaurants in Old San Juan. We've done the tour twice now and have enjoyed every mouthful of superb food! Great guides who share some awesome history and do it with a smile on their faces. Hats off to Stephanie and Yoli, you gave us another tour to remember! Absolutely recommend this for anyone coming to visit.

Caroline G.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time on our tour with Argeli. He was energetic and so informative, both about the food and the history of San Juan. I enjoyed that the tour was a real mixture of both of those things, rather than focused solely on the food. Highly recommend. One of my favorite parts of the trip!

Julianne P.

Yelp
LOVED this tour!! We went in mid-July. Valentina was our guide and she was simply amazing! Upbeat, knowledgeable, passionate, smart, funny, rolled with some unexpected hiccups with our group like a pro! We went on our last day of our weeklong trip to San Juan at my 12 year old daughter's request for an "immersive" experience, and all 4 of us agreed that this was the highlight of our trip. There were nonalcoholic and noncaffeinated options for my kids (9 and 12). We all loved the guava-butter ham and cheese croissants at Cuatro Sombras so much that we bought guava paste to make them ourselves at home. We will totally recommend this to anyone taking a trip to San Juan!

Maisha R.

Yelp
On a weekend getaway to San Juan, we decided to check out one of the food tours. As this was probably my 14th food tour, I pretty much knew what to expect - great food, good company, and an opportunity to learn some of the history of the city. Flavors of San Juan met my expectations. We joined the guide - Luli - just before 10 am on a Saturday. 10 additional people were on the tour and as soon as we complete introductions, we were off on our 3-hour adventure. The stops included: Princesa Gastrobar - Puerto Rico is known as the birthplace of the pina colada, so we were introduced to the varieties of local rum and liquors in the restaurant bar. We tried pina coladas made with coconut cream along with croquettas and eggplant fritters with chicken. The drinks were excellent! Senor Paleta - There's nothing better than a frozen treat on a warm day. The guava popsicles that we had were sweet, very smooth, and they had a wonderful flavor, even for those of us who are not fans of guava. Cafe El Punto - We had alcapurrias which are fried plantains stuffed with vegetables and beef. These were delightful, particularly with the addition of hot sauce. We also had grouper ceviche. Rosa de Triana - We made our own mofongo by mashing plantains, garlic and spices with a mortar and pestle. We added seasoned chicken, creating mofongo rellenos, and we ate it with rice and beans. This was a fun piece of the tour and this is the first time I've made food on a food tour. Hecho en casa - We ended the tour with homemade coconut flan. The flan had a wonderful sturdy texture that was very creamy. It was unlike any flan I've had. In general, we had a very nice tour. Our guide was energetic and knowledgeable. We could tell that she'd led many tours before. We provided our dietary restrictions ahead of time and there was a little mixup at one of the stops but she was able to get it corrected after a brief wait. The tour ended about 20 minutes early, which to me suggested that another stop or another bite could've been arranged. Based on other tours I've done, I think the $79.99 price tag was a little steep for this tour but I must say that I was impressed by the food portion sizes as most tours cut, dice, and slice foods such that you only get a small sample of the foods. This tour did not do that. We were certainly full at the end of it.

Yelp
On a recent visit to San Juan, I had the pleasure of taking the Flavor of San Juan food tour with Carmen. Not only was the stops she picked delicious (and wicked filling), but she imparted some awesome history to the group about the area. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. Lets not ignore the food options. First stop was chocolate at The ChocoBar. I'm not a hardcore chocolate lover by any stretch, but we sampled a delicious piece of chocolate, had a chocolate shake, AND a traditional sandwich. Next stop was vaca where we made our own mojitos and had another traditional meal. At this point I was stuffed, but I definitely had just enough room for our last stop where we had this cool flan/coconut cake mix. I'm terrible with the names of the food, but it was all good. Great experience that I'd definitely do again. There is apparently a Flavors of St Maarten as well!

Gervetti L.

Yelp
We took part in the walking food tour. Jacob, our guide, was excellent - full of energy, professional and very personable! I really enjoyed the blend of history, architectural highlights and the amazing food and drink options. I had a few food restrictions and was accommodated without hesitation. I would take this tour again without hesitation and highly recommend!

Yelp
Of all of the tours that we had booked for our trip, this one is easily our favorite. We had Gabby for our guide and she is rich in knowledge and history as well as being so personable and funny. I couldn't have asked for a better guide and was so grateful to have her lead our group. It was obvious that she really enjoyed what she did and has a lot of pride in her heritage. We went to a total of 5 restaurants with some providing full entrees. In between each restaurant visit, we stopped at different points of interest to discuss the history of it. You will be fed AND learn something too! My favorite part of my tour was the visit to the Casa Cortes Chocobar at the end. A nice way to end the tour with delicious chocolate and treats to take back with you if you wanted. One of the restaurants we stopped at had us make our own mofongo. This was my hubby's favorite part in particular because it brought back some fond childhood memories of him and his good friend eating mofongo made by his friend's Puerto Rican mother. I didn't know this about him and was an unexpected but pleasant surprise when I saw his reaction as we sat at our table doing this. I felt that we definitely got our money's worth from this tour and can't recommend this enough. If and when we go back to San Juan, I would love to do this tour again because we enjoyed it so much. Some tips: Go hungry! You will be fed and you will be full by the end of the tour. If you happen to still be hungry by the end, there will be plenty of restaurants nearby to help with that. Wear sun protection: hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. You will spend a lot of time outside walking place to place and stopping at points of interest. Bring water. You will get thirsty as you walk around and not all restaurants will offer drinks. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Again, a lot of walking and standing! Our tour was about 3 hours long. There is a considerable amount of physical activity so please consider your own health and fitness before booking this. At the time of our tour, it was hot and humid with on and off rain. There was one part where we had to walk up a steep hill to get to the popsicle shop (Senor Paleta). I don't like popsicles so all that effort for me was wasted lol.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this food tour. They take you to places that normally tourists skip and showed you how/what to order. Everything on the tour was delicious and the guide, Argeli, was very informative and friendly. The food will def fill you up!

Yelp
Omg where do I start. So my husband and I decided to do this tour exactly on our anniversary date and I'm so glad we did!! Our tour guide host was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and humble; which made the experience even more so fun & we felt the authenticity! The croissant was one of my favorites but nothing too the Monfongo chicken rice & beans I can't wait to have again. I also love the fact that they accommodate my allergy to coconut with the Pina' colada drinks made made me a substitute that was delicious! I loved every single scenario we were shown.

Yelp
I've done this tour 3x with various friends and family now. Twice Itzel was our tour guide and she's FANTASTIC! The other tour guide was awesome as well but I cannot remember her name! Excellent food and drink, not too much lecturing. The perfect way to experience Old San Juan, IMHO. Schedule your tour today!

Yelp
This is my second food tour and it was amazing! Our tour guide Chiara was incredibly friendly and fun. The information part was interesting and not dry. I was WOWED by the Mofongo- an absolute must try in Puerto Rico. There are so many cultures that went into creating Puerto Rican culture and you can definitely taste it in the food. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
I would rate the tour part as 5! Itzel was amazing and had high energy vibes!! I would give her a 5/5!! However, the food was just decent. It was our first time eating Puerto Rican food so we thought this food tour would be a great introduction to the food. The restaurants that we stopped were either hit or miss. Hit: Cuatro Sombras (Cortadito and Croissant) and Anita's Gelato (Tropical Gelato). Super delicious and refreshing. Miss: We ate El Patio de Sam (Tostones and Carne fritas) and The Parrot Club (Piña Colada and Mofongo). Food was super bland. Not a great representation of tasty Puerto Rican food.

Yelp
Such a great experience. Thank you to our tour guide Carlos for all the background information on Puerto Rico. All the places we visited where great. Amazing food and better drinks. We ended up visiting some of the restaurants again before leaving Puerto Rico. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want a nice feel of the city with awesome food.

Yelp
Let's start with Ricardo is a walking history book of Puerto Rico Knowledge. Each and every food stop was amazing. I have nothing negative to say.

Yelp
It was such a fun experience with Yoli. Only thing I'm complaining about is a lot of walking.

Yelp
Nadia did a fantastic job as guide on our tour. This was my second time on this tour in less than a year. I encouraged my fellow travelers to join me and they all agreed, it was terrific. I don't want to ruin the possible surprise factor of the items served, so won't go into detail, just to say they didn't change and I was thrilled. We did the 10AM option and I highly suggest it as it will definitely serve as breakfast and lunch. Go hungry!

Yelp
What a great way to experience old San Juan! Our friendly guide, Aura, taught us about the rich history of Puerto Rico and shared many culinary delights. We finished the tour feeling stuffed! One highlight of the tour....going inside the bar at Rums of Puerto Rico. The bartender taught us about the bar's set up & allowed us to smell many different varieties of rum. A really fun experience...a must for any foodie!
