It would have been better. We have had no hot water today. The hotel blamed the lack of guests! You should be able to get instant hot water regardless of number of guests. They obviously are aware of the problem and have been for years but have chosen not to fix it. No apology, no compensation. Do not eat book the pizza buffet. It is a joke. No salad, no extras. Five pizzas (which ran out) for the whole of the restaurant. Really poor. Breakfast cold.

Looks like a castle on the outside and has loads of charm and character.|Room smelt a bit musty, average bed but did have a bar fridge. Breakfast hot food was barely warm but there were plenty of other options. |The place felt like a Swedish chalet. Downstairs was a heated pool and spa area which looked like it was straight out of a Wes Anderson movie, very cool. |Lots of old era furnished rooms around the lobby where you could have tea.

Likes: Classic charming style of the hotel, both exterior and interior. Cosy bar. The Family Room is nice and spacious. Bed is very comfortable. Breakfast buffet is okay. Didn't like: In the room, the electrical wiring was messy, with cables tied up to another loose cable that does not seems to connect to anything (probably from old appliances/connections). In the shower, there is only a small glass partition with shower curtain, so the whole toilet floor gets wet as well. There's only a few TV channels, mainly NRK. The pillows were too soft.

The building is a fantastic place, with it's period decor. Rooms are somewhat compact though, with only enough space for two cases laid out. Everything was clean, but the mould evidence on the shower grout lines suggest our room needed a makeover. Internal corridors were carpeted for silence, but there's a weird change in floor levels between some sections. Nonetheless the bed was very comfortable, which was fine for a one night stay. Unfortunately our room upgrade to a lake view meant we dealt with a fair amount of road noise, although it did get quieter towards later evening. Perhaps we were in the quiet off peak before winter, but breakfast was disappointing. Basic cereals, juices, coffees, bread, cheese, and meats were available. However the hot dishes were luke warm at best, and sparse to boot. It looked like a minimum amount had been put out and forgotten about.|Great for a one night stop over, but otherwise we were underwhelmed. The staff were so friendly and helpful though.

Lovely hotel. I had a standard room with a view over the lake -- utterly beautiful. Comfortable bedding, nice armchairs to sit in and enjoy the view. Lots of cosy public spaces downstairs. A really nice old-fashioned, homely feel. Breakfast was plentiful and served in a wood panelled room; lots of choice and bread so fresh it was still warm.

This hotel is a scam—nothing like what’s shown in the pictures. They’ve expanded with a hostel-type building near the train station, and that’s where they put us. The room felt like a 2-star hotel, and the noise from the trains was constant. When we complained, they didn’t care and even had earplugs ready, which shows they’ve had complaints before. I would avoid this place at all costs. Definitely not worth the price.

We stayed for 2 nights as part of touring holiday. To say the room was dated is an understatement. Beds were tiny, one electric point, bath was difficult to get in and out of due to showerscreen . Very mean with tea and coffee I n room, .food was unexceptional , breakfast was average.. staining To carpets on the stairs, lighting poor. The hotel is in a great position and looks attractive externally however it is in need of a huge makeover to reach its potential

I lived this hotel. It felt like it was from another era. It is filled with of historic character with a beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. The bar and restaurant are full of atmosphere and the food was ok. It very handy for the train as the station is right outside the back. The rooms are very dated and basic but clean and quite large.

Yelp
Nothing compares to the history of this hotel and the impact of this family to the local area. This is a MUST stay at hotel. If you coordinate coorectly you can take a free staff-led tour of the hotel - I can't overstate how worth it that is in learning more about this walking history piece. If you can't coordinate dates, still meander around and read about the items in the hotel and who stayed there in the past. We stayed in room 207 which has a private balcony overlooking the water and the views are just indescribable. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. I do regret not taking a dunk in the pool and jacuzzi followed by the sauna (all inside on the lowest floor). The room was very large and had a sofa, large tv, nespresso maker, balcony 2 chair and bistro table. The bathroom had a fancy toilet, sink and a bit awkward shower where two glass doors come together to make it a box type of shower. They had headed floors and even a heated towel rack. Ther is no iron or room safe. This hotel is literally accessible from the train station platform by walking down a short ramp. The restaurant also has very good food and a breakfast buffet that was fresh and well stocked. This is a MUST STAY hotel. And thank you to the Fleischer family for keeping this treasure alive and thriving.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in Voss! The views are just stunning. It is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Our room was very nice, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We had the dinner and breakfast buffets and the food was very tasty. I wish we could have stayed here more than just one night.

Yelp
We were on a bus tour from our Ship and we stopped at this hotel for lunch. It must be a good ski area because they have a train stop too. We had a good luck and a nice break on our tour. I did some geocacheing outside and found were on had been placed but it was damaged by a bus.

Yelp
Quite worn down. They advertise with local food. Ordered two bacon and cheese burgers and a pasta with bacon. The burgers where over done even though they were ordered medium-rare. All the adjoining ingredienses where not well put together and tasteless. It is not enough with quality local ingredienses when they are cooked properly. Dissapointing!

Yelp
Stayed at Fleischer's for a family reunion this weekend. The hotel has a great location and is close to downtown. It has a unique and old fashion look. Not too impressed with the hotels amenities. There were no flat iron in the hotel room, and no shampoo or conditioner. The rooms were not very clean either. The swimming pool was really cold, and we had to pay extra to use the jacuzzi. The dinner buffet was not very impressive either. There were not a lot of food selection for the kids. The breakfast buffet was a lot better. It was also difficult to get access to a microwave or anything to heat up food/bottles for infants. The hotel is pricy, but we got a group discount. A fun weekend, but a little disappointed after paying a lot of money.

Yelp
I stayed in the motel (located 100 m away from the main hotel building) and was not particularly impressed. The hotel and motel locations are undoubtedly convenient for any traveller, for which a hefty rate is charged. The best part of the motel room is the kitchenette: it is rather well stocked and clean, good for 4 guests. However I repeatedly failed to contact the reception from the room phone, the wifi was not accessible from the motel and the walls to the neighboring rooms were way too thin. Additionally, the information on the hotel website is very meager, the information in the room is not much better (unless you are mainly interested in the hotel's history)
