"Fletcher Cove’s crescent-shaped beach is protected by bordering cliffs on both sides, with a groomed park that offers many public facilities. Paved paths down to the beach make Fletcher Cove much more accessible than other small beaches in the area. Families with kids will love the basketball courts, playground, outdoor showers, and picnic areas." - Archana Ram

Google
Again one of the nicest beach park in San Diego. Has 3+2 picnic tables whith great view of sea and the beach. Well maintained except the toilets. Small but nice playground which has a unique 4 story jumping mat loop, musical toy, swings with sea background and much more. 4 stars just because washrooms were a big disappointment when we visited ! 😔 There are 4 washrooms with an additional common wash basin outside but the washrooms were very very dirty and smelling. People don't have basic courtesy to flush after they are done.

Google
My go-to easy hiking place, the most pleasant to hike and enjoy both greenery and breath-taking seaclifs and gorgeous waves. Often also can see dolphins swimming as a bonus. The sweet smell of boxwood and other flowers throughout the walking trail was truly a treat..Highly recommended for everyone, including children, so much to learn and see for the wonderful minds.

Google
We really enjoyed playing at this beach. There were bathrooms and an outside shower to rinse off in. There was also a playground further away from the water. The only issue is that it is currently under construction. They are adding sand to the beach I believe, and should be done with the project sometime in March 2024. We were still able to walk down to the beach and play in the water in Feb 2024. There was free parking in the area which was a big bonus for us.

Google
Great family beach with a small park, close access restrooms, decent parking and awesome sunset views. I would give five stars if it were a bit larger and had more parking. Otherwise a very nice place. The beach itself is very nice. Great for sun bathing, surfing, body boarding & fishing.

Google
Freakin' Amazing! Spur of the moment while driving (I've only been once 7+ years ago?🤔), and definitely worth it!!

Google
A gorgeous beach for a beautiful beachside town. The picturesque park adjacent to the beach is filled with all sorts of fun artistic ocean themed flair and artwork, an all around wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon

Google
The weather was incredible! Thispark was well-kept, neat, family friendly, and dog friendly. Kids can play on a large, clean playground, and friends can have picnics on the grass or at the tables. They have a nice restroom with a shower for when you’re done with the beach. Beside the walk down to the beach, there is a a big hill you can walk up and see a great over view of the beach and park. At the beach, everyone was actively enjoying it. It’s nice, quiet, and well kept. Parking was easy as there were ton of side parking, a parking lot, and many across the street. There are also a few places to eat that are walkable distance. By 7:30pm, many people just gathered in lawn chairs to enjoy the sunset. There is such a neighborly community, I would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

Google
No dog beach, our all-time fav! Get here early for parking spots on weekends. Parking is difficult here. Good beach to get into the water. Less place to sit during high tide.

Kaylee L.

Yelp
I love this beach! I came here a few years back, and it was a fun time! Couldn't wait to take my daughter to this beach playground! Parking is a little tough, they have a very small parking lot, if you're lucky you can snag a spot! I believe street parking is available too!

Romina T.

Yelp
Love coming to the beach right by this park. There's a lifeguard station here and not so busy. It's nice that there's plenty of parking near by as well as some food options a short walk away.

Monica E.

Yelp
I keep a list of meditative places and beautiful outdoor places. Fletcher Cove Park is on the list. A few items of note: The park has a beautiful grass park overlooking the ocean. The path to the ocean is a on a grade. Not good for those trying to reach the beach who have with mobility issues or who may rely on assistive devices. You will commonly find groups of people enjoying the grassy area. It's great for picnics, small parties or lounge time with your pet. There are restrooms, basketball courts and are picnic tables as well -- with several tables closer to the bluff overlooking the ocean. All are without shade, however. There is a small parking lot that fills up very quickly. But there is free street parking on the streets surrounding the park. Just be attentive to posted signage, especially in the neighborhoods. I love community spaces like this, especially like this where you can bring the family, the pups and a packed meal along with a book if you are so inclined and spend the entire afternoon watching, relaxing, meditating or in a slumber.

Icy U.

Yelp
Pretty boring. There are much better beaches in San Diego. Come here for less of a crowd but no fun and no close walking distance food.

Laura W.

Yelp
I absolutely live this spot. I've been coming here for years. It's a fantastic location with sunrise and sunset so just gorgeous and they have a brand new Playground now.

Bianca G.

Yelp
Pretty beach including during summer. Lots of different restaurants too around which is nice.

John C.

Yelp
What a fun beach! First time in Solana Beach and had a great time even though the sun was hiding. Perfect temperatures and great tall ocean waves. Can't wait to come back and spend more time!

Anne F.

Yelp
What's not to love about Fletcher Cove Park? You can go to the beach or just treat it like a park and enjoy basketball courts and picnic tables. Walk along the cliffs or in the sand. During my most recent visit we took a left on the beach and walked down until it connected to the Del Mar Dog Beach. I don't suggest it during high tide, but it was a great low tide experience! Then on our way back we stopped by some of the shops on Cedros before heading back to our car. Parking has always been easy to find in nearby lots or on the street. There are a lot of great businesses nearby to grab coffee at before going on your beach walk or to enjoy a meal after a day in the sun.

Norbert K.

Yelp
Fletcher Cove Beach Park provides a great two-level experience. At street level, you have a green park where you can enjoy one of the picnic tables to picnic, relax, or just view the ocean below. Sunset here is one of the best in San Diego County. There's a somewhat difficult path to the beach below where you can swim, surf, or just splash in the water. Located at the foot of Loma Santa Fe Drive, parking is limited right at the park, so search for spaces on the adjacent streets or up at the Solana Beach Station.

Jen H.

Yelp
Honestly one of my favorite beaches in San Diego. Low key. Easy parking. There is a playground for the kids and lots of great restaurants walking distance from beach. However, no dogs allowed in beach. Only down side if you have a pup.

J B.

Yelp
Beautiful place to chill with the family! Enjoy a little basketball game or the beach view and the new playground that's being added is going to bring enlightenment to the community park area!

Renee N.

Yelp
This is a small yet pristine little beach park. It is located in Solana Beach and provides easy access to the beach. It is named after the Fletcher family who has made a financial impact in this area. The beach is also known as Pillbox, named after the concrete gunnery installations on the bluff from WW II. There is a playground for the kids and a basketball court too. The restrooms are very clean and there are also public showers. The parking lot is not too big but we were here on a late Tuesday morning so plenty of parking. There is also additional street parking should the parking lot fill up. Great place to have a picnic, read a book, or just sit and enjoy the view on the large patch of grass. There are also picnic tables dotting the landscape that provide epic views of the ocean. My friend and I made our way down to the beach and walked both directions. This beach is great for surfing, body boarding, walking, running or just general splashing around and having fun.

Elisa G.

Yelp
What's not to love about this park at the beach? It is absolutely gorgeous! I would live here if I could! Everyone is sweet and even though you're not supposed to take dogs on the beach, there are a lot of dogs at the park and on the path. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

James V.

Yelp
GORGEOUS little beach park in the Solana Beach area. As with nearly anywhere on the SD coast, it doesn't get much better than this on a beautiful "winter" day. There's an awesome basketball court and grassy area adorned by pam trees, all overlooking the ocean. Walk down the ramp and you'll be treated by incredible views of the ocean. This time of year was low-tide so the sand real-estate/walking space was expansive. So relaxing, chill, and quiet. We ended up spending several hours here - was clean, scenic, and not too crowded. Absolutely recommended.

Kira D.

Yelp
Not the cleanest beach around, and the sand here is not the softest (pretty dang soft though!), but great for coastal walks near million dollar homes!

Lillian W.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite beach spots. It is a smaller cove with a tiny neighborhood park. It is not the prettiest but it is a nice little compact neighborhood beach. It has a paved lot and small tiny grassy area with a playground including half basketball court, bathrooms, shower, and a small amphitheater. The parking is free. There are eateries within walking distance. Lifeguards are on duty. There is swimming allowed but swim where the lifeguards places the signs. No dogs allowed on the beach though. The beach butts up against the cliffs. The cliff walls are sheer to the beach.

Nanette L.

Yelp
We enjoyed this area so much! People were walking around, walking down to the water, and even playing basketball. There's a tiny parking lot, but we did find parking down the street for free. Solana Beach- gorgeous and so much fun. Kids were playing on the equipment and there's some grass to run around on.

Danny W.

Yelp
Took our newborn son for a stroll here and can definitely see into the future spending lots of my time at Fletcher Cove Park. -Pristine basketball courts for dad to play pickup -Grassy knolls for mom to read a book on -Playground area for our newest member of the family -Beautiful ocean views for all -They even have pretty clean public restrooms It's small, but so amazing. Fletcher Cove Park is pretty amazing. :-)

Jackie F.

Yelp
Beautiful view !! Highly recommend going at night if you want to relax and breathe after a long day !!!

Mel T.

Yelp
Walked off our brunch from a spot across the street to the best view in town! A short walk up the hill brought us to a breathtaking view of Solana Beach. The succulents and plants all around are beautiful and the park was well maintained. Parking was easy and plentiful nearby. A tranquil and not crowded place to enjoy the scenery!

Nijole T.

Yelp
Every beach is gorgeous, but I really love this stretch in Solana Beach. While it does get busy, there is plenty of room to stretch out in both directions. The views are endless and you walk underneath these huge cliffs, breathtaking. There is plenty of metered and residential parking in the area, as well as public restrooms and showers to wash off your feet. They have a large playground, new and very well maintained. Plenty of beautiful photo ops, a must see!

Rachel S.

Yelp
Best place to come with family and just relax for the day, playground for kids if they get tired of water. Shower to rinse off after the beach and basketball court if you want to play. Close by restaurants but hard to find parking at times. Solana Beach/Del Mar area

Vicki C.

Yelp
I will always call this beach Pillbox even though that name was derived from debris left by pill poppers so it has a negative connotation. Fletcher Cove sounds more politically correct given the Fletcher family's significant contributions to San Diego. Several years ago the park above the beach was renovated and it has won numerous awards for it's creative design. Artistic elements like walkways etched with fiery sun emblems and aquatic embellishments on every one of the park's numerous features. The sandy cove is a favorite surf destination and in years past I have participated in surf contests at Pillbox beach. The sand is the cleanest that you will find in the county primarily due to high tides washing right up to the cliff and cleaning the sand. Another factor is that it gets less traffic than some of the state and county beaches and some people are just plain dirty. I love walking on the glistening quartz sand and trying to spot a whale breaching outside of the surf. In my homble opinion, Pillbox is one of the best beaches in town for the entire family, it is clean, beautiful, well maintained and the showers and restrooms work. The days of the pill poppers are long gone so I can carry on.

Yelp
Want to catch a quick sunset after grabbing a beer at Culture Brewing Company or Pizza Port? This is the spot. Within walking distance from both, you won't even have to move your car. So, what's the best way to do this? Instead of going down to the beach and the park, walk UP the nature made stairs to the small bench area, hang out for about 20 minutes, watch the gorgeous sunset, and then head back to your car since it's cold the second the sun drops behind the horizon. I'll be back!

Patrick H.

Yelp
It's a cute little beach in Solana Beach near a few bars and restaurants. The parking is a little limited. There's a nice viewing area on the top level to watch the ocean and waves.

Austin G.

Yelp
Fletcher Cove Park is a small entry point with a playground, tables, and a staircase down to Solana Beach. It's near several good restaurants. If you're a runner, this is a great place to enter the beach for a good run!

Ben K.

Yelp
Easy to find close parking during the week. Beach is well kept and lifeguards are on duty. There is a central area for swimming and lateral areas are designated for surfing. Beautiful place to spend the day

Paul P.

Yelp
Live bands on Thursday! This is my review for each of The California beaches that I visited... Wow spectacular views and uniqueness in each location. I love the beach, the energy, the vibe... just wow! I like the differences in each location. Unfortunately this beach was really unkempt, poorly maintained and in disrepair in all areas. Everything was dirty with trash strewn around, poorly maintained sidewalks, stairs and bathrooms. A crazy amount of homeless destroying the joys of the beaches. I hope that Californians will step up their game and work with their government and locals to bring back their beaches and appreciate what tourists bring into their communities and local businesses.

Wiggin L.

Yelp
Alright, I gave it 5 stars for the view! But where else can you find a playground AND basketball half-court right next to the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean? If it weren't for the view, it would be (at best) just an average park. The playground is worn but equipped with two swings (no infant slide) and slides. There is a decent cement basketball half court. The beach is beautiful but the sand gets really wet due to high tides in the winter. Parking can be difficult but on a January afternoon, there were plenty of spots in the designated parking lot. In the summer, it is more crowded and street parking is probably your best bet. Overall, location sets the beach apart and it's great for our family. My toddler enjoys the playground, my husband enjoys shooting around, and enjoy the ocean views all around.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Idyllic, San Diego! As a north county native I've always grown up by the beach. This park is very family friendly and great for group get togethers. Street parking mainly because lot gets full fast

Victoria V.

Yelp
This is a beautiful park right on the waterfront. There are plenty of places to sit and relax. The beach is beautiful and flat to play sports or lay out. There is a beautiful mermaid art piece on the overlook section. Check it out!

Lena Y.

Yelp
Small but dog on leash friendly (that is the park is, not the beach) and has a nice path to the beach. Within walking distance of local dining and stores. Open during pandemic with posted restrictions. Patrons please don't ruin it for everyone else and follow these rules!

Charles U.

Yelp
Lovely beach park...although very difficult to manage the steep ramp if older or have young children in tow with beach gear. We were able to find a parking space nearby and use of our handicap tag gave us a closer spot for the walk down to the beach. Since we're in our early 70's, we hoped to find a way down other than ramp...difficult for us to maneuver. So, grandparents be prepared for a rough walk into the fun...

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Fletcher Cove is one of those place that you just have to go if you're in the Solana Beach area. The location is absolutely picturesque and a great spot to walk around with your dog and just enjoy the sights. I actually used to play basketball at the park which give you some great viewing while amidst a competitive game. Bummer that they only have a half court. Regardless, this is a great beach to visit and get some rest & relaxation at... Pros- Beauty Beach Park Bathrooms Dog walking Basketball Across from naked cafe Cons- Small Parking High tide lessens the beach area

Jack M.

Yelp
Fletcher Cove is a great little slice of the Pacific Ocean and Southern California. The vistas are great from above, before you head down to the sandy well kept beach. On top, there are some nice picnic tables, very clean bathroom facilities, a Life Guard Station, and even a nice grassy area (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fletcher-cove-park-solana-beach?select=AwD-uOIf3CKT0jNBrjXaBA#AwD-uOIf3CKT0jNBrjXaBA). I was very impressed on how all the pathways, the land escaping, and even all the trash cans were well maintained and emptied (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fletcher-cove-park-solana-beach?select=AwD-uOIf3CKT0jNBrjXaBA#Z6BNsrUnvjed9-UZtSQayA). The scenery was great and the view of the beach and ocean from a top of the cove were breathtaking. This is a great place to hang out for the afternoon and picnic, and I can only imagine how beautiful the sun set would be from this place. I intend to find out and upload some pictures.

Natalya S.

Yelp
Perfect little ocean front park with beach access and with all the amenities. The park is immaculately landscaped and its design is well thought out. There is a grassy area where you can have a picnic or just sit down and enjoy ocean views. Before the sunset i see people heading toward the picnic tables near by with pizza to enjoy the gorgeous views and bite. If you have little ones, there is a nice little playground. A basketball court if you feel like shooting some hoops. As you leave the beach, there are well maintained washrooms and showers. Swim, tan, play or just chill.. your choice :)

Yelp
Well Date Of Visit: January 1, 2020 Here is my first review of The New Year !! And I was looking for a cool Park to hangout on New Years. !! So I was flipping through all the Suggestions on Yelp and as Elite I can see why this park gets close to 5 Stars !! As I park I look around and all I can see is A beautiful Blue sky's and around is a cool play area for kids !! I do suggest you bring your kids here they would love it here !! Lots of Kids playing around the kids area and there are slides and swings here plus as you walk a little further down this slope you will reach the Beach down below which is beautiful !! It just a Beautiful Park !! And adding to it is the huge Christmas Tree in the Middle Of the Park !! All I can say is this Park is amazing and good for anyone who loves the Beach and looking for somewhere to take your Kids to !!! Plus it is good for taking pictures also !! Going back to the parking it is Free and there are Parking next to the Play area for kids and also a little further down the street !! But my expectations were met here !! Great Park and I Shall Return and Enjoy More !! It is located not to far from The Shopping Centers in Solana Beach and close to the Del Mar Race Track !! I for sure will Return again !!!

Andy C.

Yelp
I love this park! There is nice and easy parking here, nice clean bathrooms, grassy areas for beautiful picnics, and a small basketball court here. Fletcher Cove Park is one of the cooler spots in the Southern California area because of the nice bites all around the area. Within walking distance from all the cool places, grab something to go and then come to the park and enjoy the beach or sunset! There's also a nice paved out path here that leads down to the beach and it's just a simple short walk over to the Del Mar Dog Park where there are cool tidepools.

Giselle G.

Yelp
I always pass by this area when i walk along the beach every time we stay at a hotel nearby. Yesterday i finally got curious to go up the main pathway and saw there was a small park for a mini picnic as well as play area for kids. They also have restrooms and from a far i see there is ample parking. This area is good for families coz there is easy access to the beach unlike in the other parts of Solana beach where you have to walk down relatively high stairways to get to the beach. This area is convenient if you have to carry a lot of stuff. Moms with strollers will like this spot.

Diana A.

Yelp
This is a great park for moms with babies and toddlers! They have a small sized playground, up-close parking if u need to run back in your car for a quick diaper change and bathrooms close by! You can't beat the ocean view as well. I came here today with my now older kids and sadly we have outgrown this park. There is a great little cafe right across the street called Naked Cafe they have the best banana bread!

Maria C.

Yelp
Nice place to reflect... Following breakfast, we decided to walk to the cove. There's a small park and a ramp leading to the beach/cove. There are a couple of vantage points where you can sit on the bench or look over the railing. There is one bench where you can sit and watch the surfers take on the waves. I had a great venting session and listening to the waves actually soothed my stress and anxiety I was having at the time. Free parking along the street and great little restaurants to check out within walking distance.

Mel M.

Yelp
Kicked off my summer by dinner date up the road. Then came by here to walk the beach and catch the sunset. Easy access to water. Summer time sometimes there's music, sometimes movies and sometimes your ex walks by. Little cove for little... fill in the blank

Ashley M.

Yelp
They have cleaned up the playground and replaced some of the parts. Seems a lot safer now! Great spot for views, picnics, and outdoor fun. There are bathrooms, showers, and a lifeguard stand. Great cafe across the street! Lots of parking!

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
I have to say, living in beautiful San Diego and none other than Del Mar, We are very blessed. There are many beaches along the 101, but Fletcher Cove provides a totally different experience than the others. There's a very curated park setting, where you can have picnics or birthday parties. Also fire pits are provided at Fletcher Cove, to create those unforgettable summer nights... Fletcher Cove also offers summer movies with a huge projector, for the community to come and enjoy. It's literally an absolute must to visit... And there's plenty of parking as well, you can park in the open, free, public parking lot across the street, right in front of Hideaway Cafe. I totally suggest you grabbing breakfast, brunch or lunch at Hideaway and walk on over to Fletcher Cove to enjoy breaking bread while listening to the ocean breaking against the shore... It's just so serene & peaceful... You owe it to yourself to get in on it! ;)

Ellen D.

Yelp
Beautiful and serene this Friday afternoon. I will come again to walk for hours along the shoreline, taking in the scene, visiting tide pools and traversing the ominous cliffs.

Mel N.

Yelp
We went on a Monday so it was great to see a clean peaceful beach...less people, less drama. So happy we found this place. Ideal place to chill and relax. Did I mention clean?

Lucas B.

Yelp
Where has this gem been my whole life?! This is so perfect! Close to a couple breweries right up the hill, there's a cute little park at the top of the hill, a public scenic spot on the left that goes up and overlooks a beautiful ocean view! And all topped off with the best beach! Sea cliffs, flat sand to walk along and nice little alcoves when it's low tide! I am in love and have found my next best place to visit!

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Still trying to find that perfect beach in San Diego? Well look no more cause this ones my favorite so far! The parking was free and there was plenty of it. The walk from the car to the beach was under five minutes. There wasn't too much of a crowd, even though it was 95 degrees that day. And for some reason, the water temperature reminded me of Hawaii. It was perfect. All in all, it turned out to be a memorable beach day. Great place to hang and enjoy the day!

Megan T.

Yelp
Great place to bring your kids. We loved playing at the park and then walking down to the beach. What a beautiful beach this is. We loved all of the cliffs along the coast. For sure one of our favorite beaches. The waves were not to large and you can walk out a ways before it gets to deep for the kids.

P C.

Yelp
Anytime I run in Del Mar (I start at Del Mar beach), I run up here as one of my stops. The beach part has a cove section, stairs leading up to the park, parking lot and several clean bathrooms with running water (Torrey Pines is the only place I've gone to that doesn't have running water). The park part has a grassy area and sitting area where you can eat. Good for families. Pretty clean. It's a good place to stop if you need a break from the beach area. Great ocean views- what more could I ask for?
