Google
Coffee was the best I’ve tried in Wellington, 10/10!! Food was delicious, staff were so friendly and fun! Was so good I went both days I was in Wellington! Overall amazing vibes :))

Google
Where to start? This place is amazing in terms of the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The menu has a broad selection of breakfast foods you can choose from and even a “build-your-own” breakfast part which is amazing! The workers are absolutely incredible- they’re fast and efficient, very hospitable, and are extremely sweet and treat everyone nicely! The atmosphere is amazing too, with a range of coffee beans to select from to purchase, the brewing stations easily in sight, and the vibe of the place is extremely comforting! Overall, I would definitely keep coming back every time I am in Wellington!

Google
Very nice location for a city brunch. The coffee was extraordinary. You can taste different roasts, which makes it a special experience. Super service staff and delicious food. We loved the vibe and ambiente.

Google
Hanger absolutely delivered on all fronts. From the moment I walked in, the energy of the place was infectious – busy, buzzy, and full of life. Despite the crowd, the service was warm and efficient, which set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best food and coffee experiences I’ve had in New Zealand so far. The coffee flight was a visual and sensory treat. Each cup was beautifully presented and offered a unique flavour profile, but the real standout for me was the house blend – smooth, balanced, and brewed to perfection. It hit that sweet spot that’s hard to come by even in top-tier cafés. The food matched the high standard set by the coffee. I ordered the bacon, and I have to say, it was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time – thick-cut, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour. Every bite was a reminder of how good simple, high-quality ingredients can be when treated with care. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just someone in search of an exceptional brunch, Hanger is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Google
Absolutely the best bacon & egg roll (bacon butty) in… the world! Best one I had in my entire life. As a Belgian, had to try the Belgian/Brussels Waffles. Those very good as well. Would highly recommend.

Google
Yummy food, fantastic coffee. Great service. This place is so wonderful I definitely will be coming back here

Google
My wife had a burrito and loved it but I had a mountain of apple cinnamon belly mountain of porridge. They called it Cosy Little Porridge. Cosy as in warm to the end, but little? I beg to differ, but with the fruit and cinnamon, you can bet I ate the lot. So yum A paddle of flat whites helped today's heart rate stay high, but if you don't like all that milk you can have you coffee lots of different ways and there was so much variety, you're going to find something you like. TIP: Single origin coffee beans can be bought here and come with a free coffee. Get you some Salvadoran, that was so good.

Google
Consistently excellent food and coffee. I have been several times over the past few years, and the food, coffee and service are consistently very good. The lamb shoulder Benedict was especially tasty. Everything from the chips to the cakes are delicious. The flat white is always skilfully made, with the right balance of steamed milk and espresso. The decaf option is perfectly blended and not overly sour or acidic, unlike some other cafes' decaf blends.

Yelp
My husband and I went here on a Saturday without a reservation. It is not a large space and the wait was going to be about 30-40 min, but 2 seats opened up and the server said we can have the seats! The service was really good - attentive, efficient, and explained each coffee selections, etc. It was very busy inside, and the noise level was loud, but manageable. This was my first time doing coffee tasting and it was really enjoyable. I highly recommend it. We also got there waffles which was very delicious! We loved one variety of coffee a lot so we purchased a bag. Would love to come back here again.

Yelp
The Hangar was a nice surprise. It actually wasn't on my original list of places to try, but with everything practically closed for the New Year's holiday, my husband stumbled upon it so we gave it a shot and we're both pleasantly surprised. As far as food is concerned, we both ordered the burritos and loved it especially with the barbecue hot sauce that they provided upon request and the aioli that was served to compliment it. The service was great. We didn't have a long wait to get seated and our waitress was very polite. My husband ordered the coffee flight and we both enjoyed the variety presented. We also enjoyed the ambiance. It was cute with a lot of nice eye candy and artwork to keep customers amused. Good job Hangar!

Yelp
We stopped in for coffee and a snack. My friend is celiac and tried the gluten free halloumi bites she says they were very good. I tried a Neapolitan donut which was very sugary. We split a flat white flight and enjoyed trying a few different roasts that way. Cute kids hot chocolate too. Total for food/coffee was about $45.

Yelp
Pork belly Benedict was outstanding! So much meat 2 eggs delicious hollandaise sauce. Get it!

Yelp
This is my first time here, and I'm already planning to come back, and bring friends along so they can experience how good this is. Perhaps I haven't been inn Wellington long enough to recognize if this is a tourist trap but frankly I don't care. There seem to be a lot of locals here so I don't think it is. The food and coffee are high quality, the place is clean, the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is trendy (upbeat but you could also get work done or read a book here), and the prices are reasonable. If you like coffee and want to expand your horizons then this is the place to go.

Yelp
Oh man, so good. I'm no stranger to refined or hipster coffee places. I seek them out when I'm travelling. A lot of coffee places which serve single origin coffees boast about the top and end notes you'd taste in the coffee. Usually I leave feeling like they taste too similar to tell the difference. Now I don't have the most refined palette but like my black coffee smooth, not sour and not bitter. So many places I leave disappointed but this place is the real deal. Even with my thick tongue, I could taste the subtle notes in the different coffees. Definitely try the flight and buy the beans!

Yelp
Can really only comment on the coffee, and note that we came here at least once a day on our trip. Nice airy atmosphere, beautiful coffees! Food looked good, people were enjoying brunch, but I can't attest to it's goodness myself. But the coffee... Yum :)

Yelp
Hot-crossed buns (it's Easter Sunday today) French toast, vanilla marscapone with coffee butter graced with edible blue flowers. Of course a side of local bacon and sausage to balance out my cholesterol levels. Coffee of the day comes with a taster card and fizzy water to clean your palate. All so good I licked the plate. Wife had duck Benedict with pink peppercorns. She said I was a good husband so must have been marvelous! If you need to start your touristy day you will not go wrong to begin here!

Yelp
Came here for lunch about three months ago. This place is a cute cafe that focuses on coffee yet food is definitely not an afterthought. It was pretty packed when we got here so we were lucky to get a table almost right away. It has a decent amount of food options for lunch that would suit a wide range of eating habits and they make a point of marking it clearly next to each dish. I went with the Applewood Smoked Tofu Salad (pumpkin hummus, leaves, broad beans, radish, walnuts, sesame dressing). It was flavorful and tasted fresh, you could tell they use quality ingredients here. We also shared the Herb Crusted Halloumi Fries with Avocado Aioli. Halloumi and avocado are some of my favorite foods so this dish made me very happy as the flavors tasted great together. We also each got a hot chocolate, I went for the one made with milk chocolate while the fiance went for their signature one with dark chocolate. They were both absolutely delicious. Our waiter was friendly and made us feel welcome, food didn't take too long to come to the table but long enough for them to make it fresh. Just looking at their menu (which they should make available online) makes me miss this place. If you are in the area, don't miss it!

Yelp
This cafe has a really nice vibe. During the week it bubbles along with a level of calm activity, but the weekends are busy. I enjoyed a good coffee here (with the roast indicated for me as part of the presentation) and a slice of very nice gluten free Carrot Cake. Service is lovely and the whole place is nice.

Yelp
Flight Coffee Hangar is not only famous for Coffee but for amazing array of food which looks and taste like a MasterChef Dish reall. Yummy scrumtuous breakfast and world famous coffee never to be found anywhere else. Well this place is now a wellington tourist attraction - if you havnt done it, you havnt seen wellington. The consistent superb coffee and food and great people with amazing people skills makes this place the best in NZ. Believe me, I have been around. Dont miss this place because food and coffee wise this place is a number 1 prority. This is my happy place. Go early because this place fills in fast.

Yelp
Took my mum here and got a bit of food and coffee. The food was great. Banana bread whipped peanut butter and fresh crisps (chips). Flat white was a flat white ( I think it's all about the milk). I had a swiss gold specialty coffee ( beware its very delicate coffee and at 7.50 you have to be in the zone ). They also had a cupping notes book that I picked up to review the coffees I drink. Oh and amazing service.

Yelp
My go-to coffee shop. It's a nice space and coffee is always on point. Family visited and loved the coffee flight. Really can't go wrong with anything here!!

Yelp
My husband had a batch drip coffee and said he liked it. I got the cold mocha. I was a little disappointed that it was a pre-packaged mocha. It did taste good though. Something that was annoying was the glass they gave me wasn't big enough to pour the whole mocha in. When I went to pour the rest into my glass all the chocolate had settled at the bottom of the glass bottle since I hadn't shaken it before the second pouring. It was also a little too warm in the store. The brownie was more cakey and typical. The rhubarb crisp in the other hand was divine! Thanks to the barista who recommended that!! I added one more star for that dessert even though it's not coffee related.

Yelp
Hangar is a landmark location in the Coffee Capital because it was the original roasting ground for Flight Coffee. The coffee is great, no question. Fast. Social, lively atmosphere. But, I think the food could use some work. I ordered lunch there once, and just once. I'd go back for the coffee though.

Yelp
First time in Wellington and boy was I not disappointed with the quality of coffee and freshness of the food here. Well worth coming. Ordered the 'Flight of Flat White' which is three different flat whites made with their espresso offerings. Totally amazing and adds to the argument that yes the flat white originated from NZ and not Aus. Foodwise ordered the fish finger sandwich and poached eggs on toast. Fish was super fresh and crunchy. Bread was well toasted and the homemade pickles were yum. Hot chips reminded me of homemade ones with the skin on. It was a bit burnt and seemed to be soaked in oil. Perhaps the temperature of the oil wasn't quite right to produce the perfect fries, but ate it all anyway. Other than that, the place is super cosy, well lit and great atmosphere. Staff are attentive and happy giving the place a great vibe.

Yelp
Very well done third-wave coffee with attention to detail and staff with the full knowledge of what they are producing. We were greeted immediately and led to a table with sparkling water set out for us. The barista came over to take our orders and was able to recommend aero press over kalita wave for the Rwandan they were pouring that day. The notes of the Vunga matched the roasters intentions and the milk drink was also very well made and beautifully designed. A must-stop for Wellington.

Yelp
How is this place NOT on Yelp already? I've been indulging myself in Wellington for less than 24 hours and this was one of the first pitstops I had to make. After chatting with a few local students, it seemed as though this was the best place to stop in and get an awesome coffee, quick bite or sit down for breakfast. It being a Monday, the crowd was mostly corporate but the staff were friendly and the place had epic music (which is a win in my book). Flight Coffee is available throughout Wellington but this is its hub - definitely worth seeking it out. Standard coffee is $4NZD, but coming from Melbourne doesn't seem too rough at all. Roastery is onsite which makes it quite loud, but hey, the corporates didn't seem to mind that at all. Take my advice and pay this place a visit!

Yelp
The people behind the incredibly popular Memphis Belle coffee shop have opened a second cafe on Dixon Street, also functioning as their HQ and roastery of their in house brand Flight Coffee. It is an impressive site, all macho timber elegance with a stripped back workshop aesthetic, decorated with various coffee paraphernalia. Large benches will nicely accommodate the morning paper readers and a couple of perches sit outside for the smokers. Flight Coffee made it's Wellington debut at the ultra popular Memphis Belle Coffee House further down the road. I have since noticed it's brand (and beans) slowly spreading and making it's mark around Wellington amidst heavy competition, which makes their success even more commendable. To me, their success is simple, they make a damned fine cup'of joe. They know their stuff, and are friendly all around nice-guys. It's this charisma which makes me say "Yes Please!" when they suggest I try their specialty coffee bean (the bean of the week is listed on the board under the title 'Slayer Espresso'). Why not treat myself I say. The Fincas Mierisch from Nicaragua promises date and prune notes, with an apple acidity. I am told the bean is mutantly large in size when compared to your average (but still tasty) bean. All the better for packing in more flavour I reckon. My cup is delicious and interesting, and I only wish I had asked for a long espresso instead of a flat white to try this mutant bean. The food cabinet is chocka block, and also caters to GF/vege diets. I'll be in for a killer sandwich and sweet treat at some point soon. As with Memphis, the music is great, and the atmosphere inviting. The Hangar is fast on it's way to becoming a Wellington institution.

Yelp
Flight Coffee Hangar put me very firmly in my happy place. The space: modern, colourful, airy. The service: friendly, ever-helpful and knowledgeable. And the coffee, particularly the filter, Some standout highlights: Their approach to selling coffee. In London, you're typically presented with a faintly intimidating menu and asked to make all the decisions - what bean, prepared with what method. In Flight Coffee Hangar, you choose the bean and the barista chooses the method. I'm sure you could choose the method too, but letting the pros make the decisions sometimes is a real help. And it paid off - the drip Kenyan I had was excellent. The service. The waiter ('Dilwen', I think) was one of the best I've been served by for a long time. Really friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and reassuring when the sound of chilli scared my wimpy palate. And the chefs. I was seated right at the back, so far back in fact that I was behind the counter. Directly in front of me was one of the chefs. So impressed was I by his command of his job and environment - his complete focus when preparing food, his attention to detail, his organisation of his workspace - that I was inspired to order one of the same dishes he was preparing (French toast). When I told him how impressed I was, he responded with a sheepish, slightly blushing "thanks, man!". Awww. There were a couple of minor shortcomings, like the flat white which could have been richer, but they hardly blemished the experience for me. Loved it.

Yelp
Just a quick review for the coffee which was some of the best I had in Wellington. The space is large & bright, staff are lovely & judging from the bustle & people lining up outside, Hangar is a very popular brunch spot!

Yelp
* Coffee is good * Came here on a rainy day and they let me wait until my other half was finished with work meetings * This made me feel like a waterlogged cat stumbling upon a plate of tuna by an open fire place (albeit a cat with some pocket money for said tuna...) * The coffee is getting up there in the price range though, but I suspect that is normal for Wellington

Sharon T.

Yelp
Great spot, super friendly staff and good coffee (take it from a coffee snob). Only drawback was that you can't customize your meals, like swapping out different kinds of bread or getting things added in.

Peter B.

Yelp
A delicious breakfast of poached eggs, bacon toast and coffee. Great food but the coffee a little weak for my taste but still very acceptable. Service also very fast and friendly. Not bad for around $20.
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
Had a great cup of coffee (el jardin) and enjoyed breakfast - had the toast with poached eggs. Cool, relaxed atmosphere - pretty hipster. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch and had a lovely French Toast with preserved tamarillos - very nice indeed. I did actually come in for the the coffee but the table server was not that informative about the coffee offerings so I stuck to water. A bit of a shame.
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
Had an impromptu coffee there on Sunday morning and although my long black was good, my wife's flat white was warm, not hot. Both took ages to arrive and we got the feeling that for some of the staff being cool was the priority, rather than good coffee delivered fast.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for brunch and I was seated facing the food prep area. The first thing I noticed was one of the girls working food prep had her phone on a cutting board and was texting. She began talking to her friend and was chewing on her nails, wiped her nose, and adjusted her socks. I then watched her put together a meal that was served to the poor unsuspecting person next to us. I was ready to leave at that point, but convinced myself I'm naive if I believe that's not a regular thing in restaurants. Moments later, another girl working in the food prep area was eating something and had two of her fingers in her mouth for a good 30 seconds - she was holding onto something that she was sucking. She looked right at me with both fingers in her mouth, then promptly starting making a sandwich. At that point I'd seen enough and we got up to leave. I'd like to think I just happened to witness that on a bad day, but the fact they were so nonchalant while clearly violating many health codes is a bit concerning. It's a shame, because the menu did look quite nice.

Karen Z.

Yelp
One of the best Cafe in Wellington. Always the good Latte Art, but the taste usuallyngood, sometimes not.
