Flinders Chase National Park

Incredible! What a great and beautiful place to have the privilege of seeing! A little windy when we went due to the seasons, but the accessibility was great, ramps were prevalent. Stairs were minimal and opportunities to capture photos were everywhere! Park entry fee was under $50 for both of us.

The most awesome experience 1 can get to see nature in its splendour. The Admiral Arch is a wonder to be seen.

A must visit - the remarkable rocks are magnificent and I love that you can actually go right up to them and walk around them. Beautiful ocean views and an accessible boardwalk up to the base of the rocks. Parking and toilets on site as well.

Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo island was just stunning. The Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch were definitely a highlight. We purchased our passes from the visitors centre on the way in, easy drive and walk to get to The Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Parking was also available on site.

A National Park experience that has been well thought through, it ‘tells a story’ to inform and engage in a compelling way. The new boardwalk, well maintained paths, and clear signage add to the experience - a thoughtful and considered approach for connecting visitors with nature. Thank you!

What a beautiful Park. So much regrowth after the bush fire. Lash once again. Remarkable Rocks and the Admirals Arch are pretty spectacular. Well maintained roads. Heaps of wildlife on them at dawn and dusk though.

The visitor centre itself - beautiful. The Rocks Cafe - less than impressed. All of their meals include hot chips, but there is no way you can buy their hot chips on their own!! Taboo!! They have a system where the patrons are "encouraged" to bring up their dirty dishes & put them on a table situated near the coffee machine. The table was overflowing when we got there, and no attempt was made to clear the table, other than to take 2 almost empty water jugs off the table, take them to the tap, refill & place back in the area water jugs would be taken by future patrons....no washing, no rinsing, just refill & put on display....disgusting!! The coffees were semi-warm, the food even less so. A great place for the health inspector to visit.

Flinders Chase National Park is big and wild and overwhelmingly barren. It is incredibly peaceful in its remoteness and now bursting with growth since the devastating bush fires. Shrubs are back to being thick and you get a feeling that this wilderness is thriving once more. You would not be to remiss comparing this National Park to parts of Dartmoor in England, or even the lower moorlands of Scotland. Giant sweeping panoramas that might otherwise have been covered with heather in those parts of the world. Thankfully, I came outside of the holiday season, as it really let you soak up how beautiful and amazing this place truly is. Everything from the vegetation to the ocean views were stunning. Wildlife was everywhere, though sadly (and often) dead on the road from vehicles. I made the decision to travel from Kingscote on the east of the island, so see as much as I could, from Admiral's Arch, to the seals, lighthouses, wild moors and of course, Remarkable Rocks and ocean scapes. If you do visit Admiral's Arch, wait to be transfixed by the rolling waves and sea froth, as the water heaves and then breaks on the cliff side or rocks. Take the time to get out the car and breath some of this amazing Adelaide wilderness on Kangaroo Island. There are little things hiding everywhere.

This park's must-see sights include beautiful Admirals Arch, shaped by the powerful Southern Ocean. This is a great place for spotting long-nosed fur seals & sculptured granite boulders known as the Remarkable Rocks. 'Remarkable' really is the best way to describe this noteworthy sight. Formed 500 million years ago by rain, wind and the pounding seas, the collection of granite boulders. Goan­nas, koalas, eagles, kan­ga­roos and echid­nas are reg­u­lar­ly spot­ted in the park. Flinders Chase Nation­al Park is recov­er­ing nat­u­ral­ly fol­low­ing the 2019 - 20 sum­mer bush­fires, which burnt 96% of the park. Bush­fires have played an inte­gral part in shap­ing the ecol­o­gy of the Aus­tralian land­scape for mil­lions of years. Many native plant species are adapt­ed to sur­vive, regen­er­ate & thrive after fire with a lot of the park regain­ing its green wood­land and euca­lypt for­est.

FANTASTIC ! My wife and I visited Kangaroo Island when we lived in Adelaide, South Australia a few years back. We took the vehicular ferry from Cape Jervis from the mainland to the coastal town of Penneshaw on the Island. You need to could bring a car to get around on the Island. If you look at the tourist maps beforehand you can plan to see a few of the popular tourist attractions like Remarkable Rocks, spot some of the thousands of sleepy Koalas in the gum trees and hand feed the odd Wallaby or two. We stayed overnight at a quaint little motel in the township of Penneshaw. It was an interesting almost 2 hour drive across the Island to see the spectacular Remarkable Rocks. There were a lot of Seals on or near the beach which was pretty neat but visitors are warned by signs not to touch the Seals. We had a great time here !
