Great university with many opportunities. Great staff with a lot of wisdom to share. Coffee shops are amazing with reasonable prices. There is always a good place to sit around the campus to have your lunch or do some work.

Very good university with a proper gym, basketball and easy access to transport.

Flinders University, located in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, offers a blend of strong student support services, modern facilities, and a scenic natural campus. However, it also comes with a number of limitations that prevent it from reaching its full potential. As a current student, I’d rate it 3 out of 5 stars—an institution with potential, but not without significant areas for improvement. ⸻ Campus and Facilities – 4/5 The Bedford Park campus is undeniably beautiful. Set among natural bushland and overlooking the coast, the environment is peaceful and ideal for focused study. The recent developments, including the Student Hub and Plaza, have modernized the university experience with improved study spaces, food outlets, and student services all in one central location. The library is spacious and well-equipped for both solo and group study. That said, the campus layout is difficult to navigate. The university is built on a steep hill, which can make moving between classes physically demanding. While the new Flinders train line has improved accessibility, public transport connections are still not ideal for all areas of Adelaide. ⸻ Academic Experience – 3/5 Flinders offers a wide range of degrees, and many lecturers are passionate and dedicated to helping students succeed. The university is particularly strong in areas such as health sciences, medicine, and education. However, the quality of teaching is inconsistent across faculties. Some units are well-organized and engaging, while others feel outdated or lack clear direction. Assessment feedback is often minimal, and accessing academic support during busy periods can be difficult. Online learning systems such as FLO (Flinders Learning Online) are serviceable, but not always intuitive. ⸻ Student Services – 3/5 The university offers counselling, academic assistance, and career services, which can be incredibly helpful when accessible. However, response times vary greatly depending on demand. During high-pressure times like exam periods or enrolment, it can be frustratingly difficult to get support in a timely manner. The university makes a genuine effort to be inclusive and supportive, but the delivery is sometimes hindered by understaffing or lack of coordination between departments. ⸻ Location and Transport – 2/5 While the natural setting of the campus is appealing, its distance from Adelaide’s city centre poses challenges. The university feels somewhat isolated, and although recent infrastructure improvements like the new rail line help, they don’t fully solve the problem for students coming from northern suburbs or rural areas. The hilly terrain of the campus further complicates accessibility, particularly for students with mobility issues. ⸻ Industry Connections and Career Development – 3/5 Flinders has made progress in building industry partnerships and promoting work-integrated learning. Students in health sciences and engineering have access to strong placement programs. However, for many other degrees, opportunities can be limited or difficult to find. The career services team is supportive, but students need to be proactive in seeking out opportunities and resources. ⸻ Overall Satisfaction – 3/5 Flinders University performs adequately in most areas but struggles with consistency and accessibility. It has a supportive academic environment and beautiful facilities, but the teaching quality and campus logistics can be inconsistent. The university is clearly investing in its future, with noticeable improvements in infrastructure and digital resources, but it still lags behind leading Australian universities in terms of innovation and student experience. Flinders University is a good option for students who are self-motivated and prefer a quieter, more nature-integrated campus life. For those seeking a more vibrant urban setting or cutting-edge academic opportunities, other universities might be a better fit. Overall: 3 stars. A university with potential—but still catching up.

My experience at Flinders University was deeply disappointing and isolating. As a refugee, I came here with high hopes, but I was met with racism, exclusion, and a complete lack of support. Most of my classmates refused to speak to me, and I was frequently bullied and ignored. Some teachers were no better — one of the worst experiences was with Cameron Nelson, who treated me with disrespect and made me feel like I didn’t belong. Throughout my studies, I felt completely alone. The university offered me no real support — academically, emotionally, or professionally. I received no assistance in finding work, no encouragement, and no understanding. The only person who showed me any kindness or support was Tom Young, and I’m incredibly grateful to him for that. Despite everything, I pushed through and graduated. But I did it entirely on my own — without the help of this institution. If you’re an international student hoping to find support and inclusion here, I would strongly urge you to think twice.

Good place to study, away from the city, very peaceful, full of green áreas and very big if you enjoy go for a walking. People are very friendly and helpful. The library is big and the view is amazing, you can watch beatiful sunsets while you are studying. Plus the quality is really good, and there is plenty space for parking. 📙🤙🏙️🌄🚗.

Google
Awful treatment of students. Struggling students with debt are forced to pay $60 for parking infringements to a multi million dollar company. How disappointing that they are prioritising their financial gain over the education and wellbeing of the students needing their services. Do better.

To the President and Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University, I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my experience in the Bachelor of Social Work program. I have been enrolled in the program for the past three years, but my first placement was a deeply negative experience, filled with racism and discrimination. Despite repeatedly emailing my placement supervisor about my concerns, I received no meaningful support. Additionally, I found that my two assigned supervisors were unprofessional and unserious about their roles. Due to these issues, I had to leave my placement, which severely affected my mental health and well-being. The experience caused significant psychological distress, making it difficult for me to continue my studies at that time. However, when I recently attempted to resume my studies, I discovered that the Social Work department had removed my enrollment. This decision, without considering the challenges I faced, is not only unfair but also a failure to support students' mental health and academic progress. I urge you to take action to ensure that students facing discrimination and mental health struggles receive the necessary support to complete their degrees. No student should have to choose between their well-being and their education. Based on my experience, I strongly advise prospective students to carefully consider their choice before enrolling in any university that does not prioritize student welfare. Sincerely,

Lizzie

Google
Money grab and greedy when it comes to parking, $60 for a parking infringement when people are struggling enough and the signs are in a pathetic location and not clear enough. How am I supposed to know that the 2 little signs in front of the university, are for the WHOLE parking area near the train station and oval? At most train stations parking is FREE, not only is this GREEDY but also discusting! Nurses and doctors are saving live's, students are struggling and you guys are giving out fines like it's candy? Please DO BETTER!

Yelp
Flinders is often much maligned as the forgotten SA uni. Far from the city and not nearly as hip it almost as if it causes the staff and students to work harder to change perception. With two campuses in Bedford Park most students are now situated on the Main campus with the recent addition of the newly built Education building. It has also recently had a multimillion dollar upgrade to the sports facilities and now boasts one of the best views of any uni and cheapest memberships for a fully equipped gym. Degrees ranging in the areas of Education, Humanity, Science, Law and Medicine there is a massive range and great level of experience that goes along with them. Party life dropped off a bit with the closure of the Tav but after a few years is picking back up with the advent of powers that be getting their acts together.

Yelp
Flinders University offers a lot more learning support than other Universities here in Adelaide and the Professors are always helpful and friendly. I have attended all 3 Universities here in Adelaide and Flinders is the best!! Also provided work experience and the opportunity to study abroad!

Yelp
Flinders is a good university. Almost everyone is friendly and helpful. The first year science topics are generally well structured however I find the resources at Adelaide University to be outstanding in comparison. The facilities at the uni are nice however look slightly outdated in comparison to Adelaide. Overall, Flinders is a good uni, however Adelaide has a range of extra facilities for science courses, with tuition fees that aren't significantly higher.

Yelp
Ladies, if you're going to study something other than medicine and you're thinking of choosing this campus because you think you'll meet heaps of hot young med students, think again. The doctors are are far far away on the South campus and you'll never ever bump into one. Secondly, do not choose this campus if you don't like hills, or light exercise. Flinders Uni campus is all about the trek, you've got to move, to learn. I personally liked walking around, the only downer being when you have to drive from one campus to another and find another car park. Flinders is the happy medium between Adelaide Uni and Uni SA: it has the thriving arts and humanities community of Adelaide Uni, and the work oriented practical focus of Uni SA. My experience of Flinders Uni was mainly positive: huge library, a growing and thriving social life which was just starting to take off after voluntary student unionism, and an excellent course and instructors. The only shame about Flinders: the location. Lets up and move the whole campus and put in the city can we. I hear there's some space available at Victoria Square.

Yelp
The new hub area is absolutely fantastic! Student clubs and associations, student services, food and study spaces are now all in one brand new building. There's 20+ imacs to use, tables and seats with inbuilt power and usb plugs, couches, study rooms, modern toilets on every level, a media room (with bean bags) and a student kitchen! And it's open 24/7! You just have to scan your ID card outside of business hours. Outside there is a huge tv screen, and tonnes of bean bags (during the week they're very popular!) There are a variety of food venues I've yet to try (I always end up being here at obscure times, and the food venues seem to only be open before 5pm on weekdays). The restaurant looks amazing, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake, and the tavern has similar, with a super modern area for students to drink again! The student kitchen is a real highlight, it has 12 microwaves and quite a few toastie machines, as well as a coffee machine, several vending machines and boiling water. Honestly it is so good, it makes me actually want to be at uni studying instead of home! Even at 10pm on a Sunday night at the start of semester, there's heaps of students studying. It's a welcoming environment and I'm sure other students will enjoy it heaps.

Yelp
Lovely university, went to open day with daughter in hand. Well organised, well oiled machine. The lectures I went to with daughter were useful and informative. Plenty of options for food and drink, even found vegan food. You get plenty of exercise here though, no need for the gym.

Yelp
Love coming here to shoot some hoops and workout. The uni gym has a view overlooking the west area. Fantastic

Yelp
Best uni in the world, its my second year here and absolutely love it..everything is on one campus and the plaza makes it an even better experience, SILC building is a great place to study and spend spare time with friends, and u can use your study time more wisely with a 4 levels library.

Yelp
flinders beware. worst uni in sa i just finished a 3 year degree straight from high school and found flinders teachers unhelpful uninterested and extremely rude when asked for help and guidance. there is no communication and teachers are just there for the money. grades are based on who you are not the work you hand up. emails sent to teacherd for help go unanswered always, left having to go ask other students for help i struggled on my own for 3 years with no help. i would not recommend flinders when adel uni offers the same thing but with better teachers and outcome. preferred students get attention, time and better treatment than nonprefered students. .
