It’s my first time staying at hostel, and I’m quite worried actually. After reached there, it was nothing I need to worried about! Location: it’s super duper near to Taipei Main Station (Bus interchange) within 5mins walking distance. You can exchange for metro, bus interchange, high speed rail or even airport MRT at this area, just make sure you do some homework before that to prevent lost 🤣 There’s some convenient mart nearby, and a small breakfast restaurant just right beside the hostel. You will get a breakfast voucher TWD 100 for each morning, just top up the difference after the deduction. You may save lots of money for breakfast, the food was great and have options, try it! Cleanliness: the thing I most worried, but overall it’s quite clean. For 2nd and 3rd floor the toilet and shower room is mixed use, 4th floor only for women. So far, I’m just using the 2nd floor as it’s just the same floor as my stays. Everything is good. 👍 There’s a bookstore inside the building, common area is at the same area with bookstore. You can pass your own sweet time reading books with minimum purchase of one drink inside the bookstore. I made some new friends too during the visit, next time will visit again.

It’s my 2nd time in flip flop hostel, but first time experience room with sharing basis. All i can say it’s really comfortable and meet my expectations. Room is super clean and cosy. At night, it might have a little noise from the street, light sleeper might need a pair of earplugs (and the hostel is very thoughtful to provide one for each of us). For me as muslim, it’s also very convenient to stay at 3-bed room, quite an ample space to perform my prayer without disturbing anyone. The water pressure in the shower room is good, the only downside is they don’t have bidet in toilet. Also, they provide breakfast voucher, the milk tea from the cafe is good and i didn’t know the combination of apple and tuna in the sandwich can be so good too. Anyways i hope it’s convince everyone to book this hostel, and i bet you won’t regret it! Happy travel everyone!

This is my second time staying at Flip Flop Hostel, but my first time experiencing a shared room. I can honestly say it was really comfortable and met my expectations. The room was super clean and cozy. At night, there might be a bit of noise from the street, so light sleepers may want to use earplugs — which the hostel thoughtfully provides for each guest. As a Muslim traveler, I found it convenient to stay in the 3-bed room. There was ample space to perform my prayers without disturbing anyone. The water pressure in the shower was good, though the only downside is that the toilet doesn’t have a bidet. They also provide a breakfast voucher — the milk tea at the café was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the apple and tuna sandwich combo tasted! I hope this helps convince others to book this hostel. I’m sure you won’t regret it. Happy travels, everyone!

This hostel is so pretty! I enjoyed my stay here: beautiful style, nice breakfast, good service and amenities, not crowded. The single room was very small but not a big issue for me... the main problem was the noise coming from the road at night, which affected my sleeping. Those rooms facing the road are only for heavy sleepers!

IMPORTANT: Reasonable price, accommodating staff, and very strategic location especially if you don't want to stay in crowded areas like Ximending but can still access the Taipei Main Station easily. IMPORTANT: They are strict with the 3 PM Check-in. You may either wait at the common area or leave your luggage at their storage area. I tried to ask them for early check-in days prior to our arrival but no reply. IMPORTANT: The staff both onsite and online can understand and speak English so it is easy to communicate. IMPORTANT: There is a lift (elevator) at the front building. Friendly for elderly/PWD. They are very responsive to queries and booking processes via their website. If you are okay with sandwiches and drinks for breakfast, the breakfast vouchers they provide are very beneficial. The food is good (for us) and the voucher offers big discount. I just have hesitation using the kitchen/common area since it is located inside the bookstore within the hostel's compound which requires membership or you need to purchase to use the area. I haven't really clarified this since we often use the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen/common area is at a separate building from the main building. They also allow pets on a leash inside the bookstore :) Almost all toilets I went to in Taiwan, this hostel is no exception, uses toilet papers only (no bidets) so better manage your expectations.

The female 4 bed room felted very humid. No dehumidifier in the room like in used to in other hostels. I assumed the dark spots on the ceiling are mold. It was very dark. Only a very tiny window, which has no mosquito net. You always need light on. No lockers for luggage, no mirror or bin. The shower was smelly. The hostel is inconvenient, especially when it’s chilly outside, in terms of breakfast location, kitchen. It’s separated from each other. The only cost sitting places are part of the attached bookstore, where you should have to buy a drink if you want to use them. I am also not of fan of the vouchers for breakfast for the cafe next door. I could not even sit in because it was crowded and the staff was not very friendly. I was waiting 20mins for a coffee and sandwich. They have announced if the food is ready only in Chinese. So, my stuff was already cold, because I didn’t understand and the staff didn’t care. I stayed only here because star hostel was full booked.

The location was great, different public transportation options close by. The beds were very comfy. The only thing we didn’t like was the shower, it was positioned right next to the sink. Basically no separate place to shower so the whole bathroom became wet right away.

Poor soundproofing. Bug bite in single room. Based on platform review - it was not the first time bug bite being reported. Think twice before booking a single room here.
