Flip Flop Hostel - Garden

The location was great, different public transportation options close by. The beds were very comfy. The only thing we didn’t like was the shower, it was positioned right next to the sink. Basically no separate place to shower so the whole bathroom became wet right away.

The female 4 bed room felted very humid. No dehumidifier in the room like in used to in other hostels. I assumed the dark spots on the ceiling are mold. It was very dark. Only a very tiny window, which has no mosquito net. You always need light on. No lockers for luggage, no mirror or bin. The shower was smelly. The hostel is inconvenient, especially when it’s chilly outside, in terms of breakfast location, kitchen. It’s separated from each other. The only cost sitting places are part of the attached bookstore, where you should have to buy a drink if you want to use them. I am also not of fan of the vouchers for breakfast for the cafe next door. I could not even sit in because it was crowded and the staff was not very friendly. I was waiting 20mins for a coffee and sandwich. They have announced if the food is ready only in Chinese. So, my stuff was already cold, because I didn’t understand and the staff didn’t care. I stayed only here because star hostel was full booked.

I stayed here for only 1 night. The location of the hostel is very good with everything within short walking distance be it restaurants, markets, cafes, shopping malls, Taipei main station etc. The dorms were clean with a comfy bed, small locker near the bed, lots of open places to keep your stuff, aircon was cooling effectively as well. Staff are friendly n helpful. Breakfast was ok. Not very social.

It was such a bad experience booking with them through Agoda. It was my first time seeing a hostel operating like this. Attitude of the staff is awful. I have reserved their room at a very very early stage. I never received any message from them regarding the check in condition. but just within less than a week til my check in date the hostel email me and ask me to provide my check in time. As my flight lands late , I cannot check in at their counter opening time. They say if I cannot check in, they will have to cancel my booking or check in the next day, but cannot self check in. More ridiculously, they only offer me less than 2.5hour to reply them in order to have a free cancellation on a tuesday afternoon. I mean how can you be so thoughtful to give only such a short time frame especially most of the people are working on a tuesday pm? And they say oh if you have any question you can contact agoda. After my request , they offer me to check in by my friend and extend the free cancellation time to that night. And in the mean time I receive a few calls which I thought is a spam call. It turns out to be Agoda side contacting me about this but I have no idea why they call me. Later I have figure out another hostel that can check in 24-hour so I just book one night. The next day, Agoda contact me again and say the hostel will treat me as no show if I dont check in the next day between 9:30- 11am . Hello?! Why are you adding condition again which you didn’t stated on the first hand? I already need to book an extra night of accommodation because of the poor management and policy and now you are giving me such a narrow 1.5hr in the morning to rush to your hotel? You must have think all the tourist have nothing to do. It seems like they never run out of customers thats why they behaved so badly with such crappy policies.

Not recommend the single room for someone who have big and large luggage, no lift and the bedroom was at the 4th floor, but their breakfast was good, and the staff also very friendly. Location was good too, near mrt and taipei HSR Station.

Staffs are very friendly and welcoming. Location is convenient. I stayed in a 4 people dorm and the bed is clean and neat. There’s a medium side locker beside the bed but no larger locker for my luggage. One down side is that common area is not that big, more like a kitchen. The other hang out spots like sofas are in another bookstore which you have to pay a small price to use.

I have stayed in both a women's dorm and a double room with shared bath on 2 occasions. Double room was very spacious. My experience was great, rooms, beddings ( with high quality duvet and pillows) and bathrooms were clean and fresh. Breakfasts were tasty provided by the adjoining cafe. The building itself is super cool with lots of natural lights. Staff is always keeping up with cleanliness of the common kitchen area. I would suggest a few more plug-ins for charging in the common area though, as I only saw 4 of them. I will stay at Flip Flop again for sure.

What a fantastic hostel. The room is very clean and odorless. Each bunk bed came with a security locker that can only be open up when you swipe your room card.The common toilet and shower rooms are super clean. However, it will be great if the temperature of the hot water for shower can be consistent, not jumping from hot to cold within a while.The breakfast quality is great. Their BLT sandwich and milk tea is superb.And, most importantly, their outdoor environment within the compound is so relaxing where you can inhale the fresh air.
