Flipside Hostel o.g. HCM

I've stayed at flipside for 4 nights, tho I was gone for one night because I've done their Mekong Madness Motorbike Tour which takes 2 days. The hostel itself was very nice. For my liking it was clean, the rooms were nice my bed had a curtain which I really like and under the bed were lockers for your backpack and stuff. I so didn't really notice broken things in the hostel, which some bad reviews have complained about. The hostel is a bit noisy at night, but considering the location (right at walking street) that comes as no surprise and was fine with me.||||The staff here is really cool and nice. Jack, the manager, was super friendly and helpful and one night we pre-drink all together at the rooftop bar and went out to a bar/club next to walking street together with the staff that was there. Was definitely good fun!||||I have done the "Mekong Madness" Tour that the host organizes where you drive around the Mekong in the jungle for 2 days (180km total) on scooters. It's good fun, but what I think is best is that for some tours you can easily do them yourself to save some money, but not this one. Doing the tour I felt like this is not easily doable by yourself which made it a experience that is very much sort it for me! Also our guide, Delo, was a super nice dude and I've had much fun with him spending the two days together and going out to the walking street on the day we got back. He has extensive knowledge of vietnam and his ability to speak vietnamese and communicate with the locals definitely made this trip stand out and surely makes it stand out from other guides too. If I come back to Vietnam I would do a motorbike tour organized by him just for the sake of doing the tour on the bikes together, because I can be sure it's going to be a great experience and a lot of fun!||Once again thanks for that.

Overall, it was okay. Stayed in the six bed dorm, which was clean enough. The air conditioning quit in the middle of the night which made it unbearably hot. Motivated me to start my day early. Though they did have fans mounted on the ceilings, so definitely snatch a top bunk. The roof top bar and pool is a great area, though. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not sure if I would stay there again, but I highly recommend hanging out at their bar. It’s a good time. You’ll just have to walk up four or five flights of stairs to get there. TLDR; if you don’t mind possibly sleeping in the heat, you’ll like this place.

Awesome time at this place. Clean dorms with air-con, lockers, curtains and power points - everything you need. The rooftop bar and pool was awesome in the heat - so nice to come back after a day of exploring and just chill with a drink by the pool. Staff were friendly and very helpful with planning my trip, booking buses etc. Did the Mekong Madness tour and loved it. Such a cool way to see the area and get out of the city for a night. Bar crawl was also really fun.

I stayed in this hostel for 4 days and I haven’t got a bad word to say about it. The rooms were good and clean and the staff were excellent! Hagan, Florence and Jake were very helpful, helping us book things and giving info to help us on our travels. They were also amazing on the nights, taking us out and making sure we had a good time! The reception and bar staff are also be try helpful with anything you need and are also very friendly. Definitely would stay again.

We stayed at Flipside in a Hanoi and were absolutely treated. All the staff there were amazing and have looked after us throughout our 4 weeks in Vietnam. Any issues or worries they were straight on the phone helping us to translate and sort everything. Amazing vibe in the hostel and super clean and well maintained. Ending our trip now in Ho Chi Minh we are staying in the walking street hostel and it is better then ever. Exact same vibe as all their hostels, amazing staff that really care and are keen for a laugh. We’ve made our way over to check out the OG Flipside and honestly they are all the best looked after places we have stayed at, and exceptional vibe. We have been welcomed like one of the family. Special shout out to Rebekka, Jack and Jacob, you guys have made our trip so gnarly, look forward to our next visit to Vietnam!!

The hostel is located in the middle of party area so it is always loud there in the night, even with windows closed. Our dorm and shared bathroom were clean. International staff was very friendly. Breakfast included is basic but good. Rooftop swimming pool is small so you can forget about actually swimming in it, but it's perfect for chilling with a glass of beer or cocktail. There is always someone there drinking.

The hostel is located directly in the heart of the nightlife scene. I myself am a light sleeper but despite the very loud street outside the rooms are surprisingly quiet (though you can hear the nightlife). The staff was extremely friendly and the rooftop bar was fun - to the point where the bartender joined us to go out too! Only ordered the spring rolls but was surprised when they were in my top 3 spring rolls tastings throughout Vietnam!

Absolutely loved this hostel. The staff make you feel at home. Everyone always make sure everyone's included when up on the rooftop bar during each nightly event. They have a pub crawl and the 4 Western staff leading it are always making sure everyone is having an awesome time. All the staff also have great travel advice and are super helpful when it comes to planning out your Vietnam journey! Thanks guys, you made my time here!
