I used FlixBus for six trips in Central and Southern Europe. Overall, it was neither particularly good nor bad. Its app is very easy to use, rescheduling and refunds are simple, and some buses can be tracked to see which town they are currently approaching. There are also some bus routes that are difficult to book online elsewhere but are available on FlixBus, although the departure times are not ideal. I have also heard of many problems. This time I am going to Paris, and I hope everything goes smoothly.
Routes and schedules in Central Europe are relatively well developed. Night buses often depart at 23:00 and arrive at 6:00 in the morning, which are good schedules, and the stations are usually located in city centers. However, in Southern Europe, the stops are more often at stations that are farther away from the city center. Sometimes I consider booking FlixBus but give up after seeing the station locations are inconvenient.
Punctuality is average, and sometimes the buses are slightly late. Every time I wait, I feel nervous. I have taken FlixBus six times, and only large main stations provide screens showing departure times. However, compared to my experience with Amigo Tours in Mexico, where we arrived at the meeting point 27 minutes early, staff later showed up and scanned the voucher, but the vehicle then left us behind and drove away while we were clearly still standing in the queue. That company even claimed they had fulfilled their service obligation and refused to issue a refund. At least FlixBus does arrive instead of not showing up at all.
