Recently, a group of young farmers, including myself, visited the Floating Farm in Rotterdam as part of a study trip. Unfortunately, we quickly realized that the operators lacked a fundamental understanding of agriculture, particularly when it comes to cows. Their primary goal seemed to be selling a story, but the narrative didn't hold up. Unfortunately most people visiting will not know this.
The ingredients they boast about in the cows' feed are unsuitable for bovine diets. The cows appeared unhealthy and were in dire need of a farrier's visit.
Overall, the experience was disappointing, and it was clear that the welfare of the animals was not being adequately addressed. As well as economical sustainability in the long run.
