"Flockhill Lodge, a 36,000-acre high-country sheep station that opened in the Southern Alps in late 2022, adapts to its dramatic valley location with weather-battered stonework and a pitched timber roof—a subtle nod to farm sheds found in the region—and invites visitors to experience what lodge manager Andrew Cullen calls a “refined wilderness.”"

We had a delicious lunch meal at the sugarloaf restaurant. James was very friendly & welcoming, kitchen staff did great job. A beautiful, stunning setting in the mountains. Great experience!!

Five out of five stars does not do this property justice. From location to accommodation to service to the private chef. Simply an indescribably lovely experience. Thank you Andrew and your world class team for making an unbeatable lifetime experience for our family. We will be back for soon.

Visited with my family of 5 to experience all of what FLOCKHILL had to offer. The Sugarloaf restaurant was under construction while there as were some additional accommodations. The Homestead is as amazing as the articles have read in the press. Staff are also genuine in delivering a luxury experience with Kiwi hospitality. Go for the experiences, go for the accommodation, go for the property, go for the food, go for it all! Secluded luxury about an hour from Christchurch driving.

Private Jet to Helicopter with GCH Aviation, Christchurch International Airport. Embark on an incredible scenic helicopter journey over the patchwork of the Canterbury Plains. Taking in the views of the braided river of the Waimakariri river, the snowy peaks of the Alps, and the lush beech forests of the valleys.

Lovely place for an outdoor wedding. Quiet, sheltered and peaceful. Great food at the reception, several dishes picked over for their ingredients. However the reception was held in a wool shed that still smelled quite strongly. Would have appreciated a scented candle or stronger clean out ahead of time.

Firstly, there were many flies here. So many that it was irritating and annoying and disruptive for us. Secondly there was absolutely no WiFi and it was literally a remote and far off place. Thirdly, amenities was really bad, there was hardly any pots and pans and the necessary kitchen items for cooking and worse still, when we were there, the restaurant was closed! No supermarkets nearby as well. Literally a dead location. The only saving grace were the beautiful horses and a cute duck that distracted us from our misery. Bed were comfortable. The water heater was a bit weird too, water either too cold or too cold. Wouldn't stay here again.

I've stayed at a few luxury lodges and this one is just incredible. The scenery and activities are incredible. Chef Craig Martin is so talented and the food is the best I've had in New Zealand.
