Iconic cakes worth travelling for - SilverKris

"A Wellington venue known for a brown-sugar pavlova topped with seasonal fruit, representing the New Zealand style of pavlova with a crisp exterior and soft, marshmallow-like interior — a popular offering across the city's cafés and bakeries." - SilverKris

This was our First New Year meal of 5 family and friends. The ambience was really good even when the location of the restaurant is on the corner of Cuba. Fancy ambience, had gorgeous dried flowers on the side of the wall, cool lamp shades, wine bottles on display which was unique behind our table. I would have preferred more cushioned chairs as it's hard to sit on the chairs for too long comfortably. The online menu was different and has changed overtime. It needs a bit of an update for people with allergies to be prepared ahead of time. The staff were professional and lovely. We went straight into drinks & mains, I ordered the Slow cooked lamb, pressed and crumbed, tasty ratatouille, tzatziki & basil which was delicious along with Truffle fries & garlic aioli to share and not to forget some Red to match the dish with lot of cocktails and if you love sweet drinks, recommend the yummy Strawberry G&T. Other dishes were the duck leg regu with pasta and pork pie. The specials were read when we were seated but we were disappointed in the Duck beasts with the jus as it was a tiny 2 slice portion as a main meal for $40. As for desserts: We had the chocolate mousse that was very rich which went really well with the orange sorbet. The seed cracker and gourd was alright, there was more cheese on the dessert plate so would suggest shorter crackers and less cheese. My husband loved the Eggnog creme brulee with delicate thyme shortbread which was creamy, crunchy and scrumptious. Overall, I would still recommend this place and we would come back to try the breakfast or brunch next time.

Had dinner at Floriditas the other night. Shoutout to our hostess Dominic - she was super friendly from the start. As the starter we shared the focaccia which was absolutely delicious - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. We had the risotto and the lamb shank, as well as the salad. It was all super tasty. Would recommend going to Floriditas for dinner.

Everything here is top tier, from the coffee and food to the service. The fish in particular was outstanding. I have never tasted anything with this kind of flavor before. It was truly exceptional and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Good experience. We ordered a fish pie, a papardele with duck leg ragu, and a sourdough bread to complete the meal. Everything was good, but could benefit from some improvements. In the pie, the fish was overcooked; The pasta was perfectly prepared and the ragu was tasty, but I could not taste the orange flavor that is promised in the menu, some orange zest would bring the dish to another level; the bread was of high quality, but it came with too much butter. Overall, I would recommend this place.

We had a lovely time, two mornings in a row. Great service, great food. Amazing coffee. Value for money and opens at 7AM!

I tried their eggs bene and I have to say the hollandaise/spinach sauce was beautiful. Everytime Im going out for breakfast, I got eggs bene and I love when chefs try something new because the flavours are always here. My partner had a fish and potatoes plate (forget the name sorry) and he liked it. Mixing it with the egg and the mayo was a good first meal of the day. We tried their coffees too, iced americano and flat white, and that was stronger than what im used to but I liked it. People told me Wellington has good coffee and thats true :)

Had dinner at Floriditas on Cuba Street — such a lovely spot! Great food, cozy vibe, and friendly service. Everything felt fresh and well done. It's definitely worth a visit if you're around Cuba Street!

My hubby and I came here for the first time in Dec 2024. We felt welcome & stayed after breakfast to have an extra coffee. Today I was back in town with my daughter as it was so good the first-time. The food was great, tasty and we didnt have to wait long for our coffee or food to arrive. But we did feel like the staff wanted us to move on quicker than our last visit. Our table was cleared very soon after finishing. Our plates, cutlery and salt & pepper removed before we had finished our drinks. I just felt rushed on a day when we didnt have to. It wasnt busy- maybe 4 tables in use.
