Google
We stopped into Flo’s Hot Dogs on our way out of town. We ordered 6 hot dogs - 3x house specials and 3x loaded hot dogs. The hot dogs were delectable and the restaurant itself no frills & no fuss. It’s also cash only so make sure you’ve got cash on hand! We loved it.

Google
We heard there was a popular hot dog stand that was worth trying out on Route 1, so after a day in Perkins Cove, my husband and I made it to Flo's with 15 minutes to spare before they closed. They steam their hot dogs, and I'm definitely a fan of the cooking style. It was a very simple, no frills menu, and I definitely like when a spot chooses to do only one thing and do it well. We're spoiled by the hot dogs we have locally made in CT, so we didn't feel that the hot dogs themselves surpassed what we're used to. However, we did really like the Flo's House Dog with their homemade relish, mayo, and celery salt for toppings. I'm sure this place holds a lot of nostalgia for many in the area. I was really surprised to see there wasn't any outdoor seating, not even a picnic table, so we just ate with our car does open since we were literally handed the hot dogs in a napkin. Glad we tried it, but wouldn't necessarily rush back.

Google
Hole in the wall Good dogs both normal and house special way. The flo special is something you'll like or hate. No middle ground.

Joe Parisi

Google
Steamed dogs Flo's way. The special relish was delicious and the taste lingered for a while. It's still just a steamed dog nothing crazy, I usually prefer a grilled dog. But for the nostalgia and Flo's being a Maine institution it's a must stop!

Laura Morris

Google
We wanted to try Flo's Steamed Hot Dogs while in Maine and it did not disappoint! Flo's relish was the perfect topping for the snappy hot dog.

Bill Stone

Google
Pretty simple ... inexpensive lunch. Couple of their signature dogs, which you order at the outside counter, and take with you in the car. Dogs were tasty, although it was odd that they wrapped them in a napkin which absorbed some of the liquid from the condiments. I can now say I experienced Flos.

Google
Love Flo's... I was talking with a guy in line, I told him I was from R.I. He said he was from Syracuse... he drove all that way for the best hotdogs. Darn I miss that place...I'm in Denver now :(

Google
Ooooh that’s a good hotdog! A must stop if you’re passing through. Cash only. A little pricey but I assume it’s because it’s a family owned business and all that

Yelp
The best thing to see on the side of the road is always a hot dog stand but this one blew them all away. Delicious, quick and no frills.

ginger m.

Yelp
This place is ok. The boyfriend likes it more than I do. I find that the hotdogs are tasteless so you really do need to get their homemade relish on them. We were the first ones at the door when they opened yet they waited on the group of 4 behind us because they were local regulars. Pretty crappy. We won't return solely because of that treatment.

Brian S.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience at Flo's. They've been there for 65 years and the reason is the fantastic hot dogs. I suggest the house special dog that they're known for. It comes with their relish, mayo, and celery salt. You order at the right window and pickup at the left window and don't forget your ticket. While waiting, stay behind the chains so you're not blocking the parking lot. But most importantly, enjoy your hot dog.

Ronna I.

Yelp
This is a hotdog from a roadside building. It's takeout only and cash only. It's a very unassuming looking hotdog but tastes really good. The dog comes on a piece of white bread rolled into a bun shape. The relish is what makes the hotdog very good. There were about six people in line when we arrived . It's a constant flow of people stopping here. Parking is limited but since it's takeout, you only have to wait a little before getting a spot. Once you land a spot, go to the right window and place your order. Then wait for your number to be called and pick it up at the left window.

Yelp
Ya gotta go. Just once. It's an institution. No frills but well worth it if you need a quick bite. There may be a picnic table can't remember but you most likely need to eat in your car. I believe they only accept cash.

Erin F.

Yelp
Omg so good. Amazing dogs. They were small but filling. I hope to come back and enjoy some more in the future.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Friendly staff and delicious hotdogs. We were greeted by a nice woman who explained how things worked. Other local customers were there giving us tips of what and how to order too. Definitely a must try if you are in the area!

Mike E.

Yelp
A legendary stop when in southern Maine!! No frills, order at the walk up window and sit on the ground or stand to eat. Typically a line, so be prepared to wait.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Fantastic hot dogs. The place is busy for a reason. The house dog may sound pretty odd, but give it a shot. I guarantee you'll want more. While you wait for your order, chat with the locals in line. The history is pretty cool too!

Kae J.

Yelp
My soon future son-in-law is in love with this place. We drove up from Boston to enjoy the hot dogs. The hot dogs are good but I don't know that they merit a 2 hr drive. There is no seating. You can eat standing by the stand but we took the hot dogs and Moxie soda and drove to a bear by beachside park.

Jeff W.

Yelp
Great rustic place to stop and get some great hotdogs. It can be difficult to park because as soon as a car leaves one pulls in.

Steph H.

Yelp
Poor service. Really wanted to try this place but the attitude I was greeted with at the window promptly changed my course. Thanks anyway.

Dave E.

Yelp
Amazing hot dogs with a nice place outside to sit and eat. The relish is an absolute must and I can't get enough of it.

JT R.

Yelp
While I am not a big hot dog fan, Flo's hot dogs are the most delicious hot dogs you will ever eat. We have been coming here for so many years and always stop by at least once. Parking is available in front, but since COVID hit years ago, they got rid of their picnic tables to eat at years ago. Check the days and hours, and expect to wait in long lines as they are prepared fresh in batches.

Justyne C.

Yelp
Always worth the drive 2hr drive and wait since they are made to order. House special all the way! Since COVID, you now order and wait outside.

Joan H.

Yelp
I'm from Troy, NY area where they have the famous Charlie's Hot Dogs! and I would compare these Flo's famous Maine hot dogs all but a little sweeter to them. Both good both crunchy skinned hot dogs steamed rolls and plenty of sauce with onions. The only issue is the fast traffic on route 1 and limited parking mainly on the side of the road and standing in the rain!... Oh well we are in Maine!

Tom M.

Yelp
Flo's is the quintessential roadside hot dog stand. Steamed dogs wrapped in steamed slices of wonderbread. Great homemade reliah and awesome toppings. Great experience. Be ready to order when you get to the window!! Things move pretty fast.

Jessica D.

Yelp
Amazing owners and you can't find another hotdog like flos !!! There's nothing in the world like it !

John M.

Yelp
Flo's Hot Dogs is one of those iconic roadside dive type restaurants that will live in your memories long after you have visited this establishment. It is the kind of place that will come back to you as you are elderly, sitting in the shadows of memories looking out througg the window of the past. This is the kind of place that will help define a summer. Are the hot dogs rate? Well, they are good. They have the appropriate snap to the hot dog and the hot tub they are most proud of is their house special. I would definitely recommend getting the house special, as well as the loaded hot dog. You cannot go wrong with either. Please do not expect anything fancy, but then again there is nothing fancy about the humble hot dog. This is the perfect setting to enjoy a hot dog. You will not only enjoy the hospital, but you will enjoy this summer, you will enjoy being alive for that moment. I hope that while you may not really realize it at that moment, memories are being made. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Carl K.

Yelp
A Flo's hot dog is epic. The hard part is not overeating. Flo's sauce is the key but not the only attraction. A delicious steamed dog on a steamed bun made to order is tough to beat. Add Flo's sauce and you have something unmatched.

David R.

Yelp
I'm always suspicious of reviews that claim some resto or dish was the best ever, worth the wait, would drive 500 miles for this or that. Also, when there are many reviews at both ends of the star ratings, I gotta ask, "How could the experiences be so different?" So I'm always willing to give the place a try, particularly if my losses will amount to under ten bucks and I have a bottle of Omeprazole handy. Thus with Flo's. This appears to be a converted red chicken coop located between Ogunquit and York. As noted, the parking is a nightmare: few spaces and you have to back into oncoming northbound traffic to exit the place. This is an extremely dangerous maneuver, particularly if there is a lot of traffic. You may have to wait for a LONG time before there is a sufficient lull to let you safely back into oncoming traffic. I wouldn't mind doing this if the the dogs had been worth it, but sadly, they weren't. Here's what you get from Flo: a small tasteless dog - maybe six of seven per lb - not natural casing, steamed, and presented in a soggy steamed bun slathered with a small amount of undistinguished sludge. Oh, with some celery salt sprinkled on top as an additional condiment. So, that's Flo's. Perhaps it is a local institution, but so is the local lockup. Don't bother. Really. Continue on to York Beach and hit up Goldenrod's lunch counter. Now that's worth the drive.

Samantha L.

Yelp
I dig it. Flo's way is the better way. I wanted to try both cause that's just how I live my life. It's their special relish that gets me, cause im not a steamed hotdog nor bun sort of lady. I'm a grilled hot dog sans bun crusher. I see the appeal if you dig the dogs, I am not a lover, but they were good. Though the bun a tad too over steamed/soft for me. It's the Maine way of life, I wouldn't change a thing about this place. No frills, simple and good. Locals do go there as I heard a man from Kittery was grabbing some dogs on a Monday afternoon. And I, a forever Mainer deep in my heart.

Mike L.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to check out Flo's after all these years of saying a hot dog is a hot dog. Growing up in upstate New York it's all about mini dogs with mustard, onions, and meat sauce so the thought of trying a full length with relish, mayo, and celery salt just didn't sound appealing. I had to step outside my comfort zone but I gotta admit it was pretty tasty and left me wanting more.

Megan M.

Yelp
I don't ever go out of my way to eat a hot dog, but these were something special. This is a small, roadside shack that's a tiny, cash only operation. You order at one window, pick up at another, and there's no seating. But, the hot dogs. A thing of beauty. Go for Flo's special/the original--sounds a little weird but it's slightly salty, slightly sweet and all around delicious. Definitely get two, they're on the small side.

Kerrie D.

Yelp
I ALWAYS respect and get excited about places that have big followings. Old school, roadside stops that get rave reviews. I finally had a chance to check out Flo's recently, when my husband and I spotted an empty parking spot while driving north. There was a long line, of about 25-30 people, everyone (for the most part) was masked. There was one line for ordering and another spot for pick up. During the wait, there was a bit of fluster when staff would come out to alert patrons to move their cars. Its a tight squeeze with limited parking along route 1 and honestly if there is not an open spot, i'm not sure where else you would seek parking. Also, this is also a CASH ONLY business, which is important to know before you get there. There were a few postings indicating what was on the menu and how you should order according to their in-house protocol; "Know how many dogs you want in advance", "order according to number", "have cash READY". The line moved pretty quickly, and we went back to the car with 2 "House Specials" (we were limited by the amount of cash we had on hand). We like steamed hot dogs as much as the next person, and we did like these. The in house relish and general seasonings reminded me a bit of the "NY system" dogs sold around Providence, RI. Overall, a solid hot dog. Don't know if I would return. The lines are long and while many people love the "salty joint" aspect of this establishment, where customers are treated as though they know no better, it doesn't really work for me.

Babka J L.

Yelp
A SIMPLE MAN'S SURF AND TURF YORK MAINE HOT DOG HEAVEN near York, Maine. YES, indeed Hot Dogs. We were introduced to Flo's by some local people who claim this roadside Hot Dog Stand is a local institution. They are steamed. Hot dogs and bun. Priced perfectly, considering it's 2022, especially if you order Flo's House Special Relish Sauce; SO GOOD. However, she will fix'em anyway you want. Cash only place. FLO'S Hot Dogs for lunch Then for Dinner! Lindsay Ramsey's OFF THE BOAT LOBSTERS! Right on their pier, Fresh Lobsters Can't Beat the Prices-Cash or Cards. We pick 'em and have em cooked and eat em on the beach. Delicious! An awesome full day in beautiful York, Maine

Steven N.

Yelp
Haven't been there in 5 years or so. Was always like dealing with the soup nazi on Seinfeld. She didn't screw around. Just let her know how many dogs you want in the steamer and they will figure out toppings after. Flows relish and mayonnaise is out if this world! Gotta get back there soon.

Morbo X.

Yelp
The hot dogs were small for the price, but delicious with the custom relish. Service was good. The building was a roadside building without restrooms and the parking was tough, but if you are looking for a quick lunch and happen to be driving by, stop in for the Flo's house dog.

Courtney W.

Yelp
Not usually a fan of "relish" but if you go to Flo's don't second guess the relish just get it. Our hot dogs were fantastic. The relish is sweet and not like traditional ground up pickles. This is a completely different kind of relish. Not sure what they put into it but it's 10/10! If we ever find ourselves in the area, we will pay Flo's another visit.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Grateful I'm from Maine so I can enjoy what others travel hours to as a destination dive. Flo's hasn't changed, correction...yes it has. Far less frightening chain of command now with her beautiful granddaughter at the steamer (if you dealt with original Flo and/or her daughter you understand what I mean-Yikes) Advice: Just know the protocol and you won't be embarrassed. 1)How many first and ONLY how many! 2) Wait and I do mean WAIT to be asked how/what you want on them 3) Chips, soda, answer when asked. Trust me, we've all broken protocol in the past and wanted to slip out :-) but remember you'll probably never see the people in line again so it's okay. But you won't get schooled by Flo so consider yourself unscathed. Bun is steamed and STEAMED means very moist and almost doughy (a beautiful thing against the snap of the dog) The dog itself is not a convenience store hotdog. I believe they are still made for Flo's by a meat purveyor in Boston. It's still your basic hotdog...but what a hotdog should be. The relish...sweet, salty with a subtle bite that just works on this dog. Don't think twice about the mayo...a brilliant relish symphony. Thanks for the dependable warm hug of my past ladies. xx

Peter V.

Yelp
Ahh, Flo's - after so many visits to Ogunquit, we've finally made the stop here. Good COVID protocols, and fun stop. They have this thing where you order in a SPECIFIC way, with signs posted when you get to the window...A little Jerry Seinfeld-esque, alla "The Soup N@&i". I actually thought that was fun. The woman taking my hyper-specific order was stone-faced until the end when she cracked a smile and told me I "ALMOST got it perfect.... until the end". Still... I'm wondering how I messed it up. Oh well... gotta go back next time!

Xiao Ying L.

Yelp
Great food at a great price. It's simple, it's quick and it's delicious. This place is only open from 11-4 so make sure you stop by during this time only! We drove by this stall many times and ever deterred by the long lines everytime, but that only emphasized our interest and desire to try it. We timed our departure to perfectly match the opening of Flo's and we were finally able to try it! And it was very enjoyable.

Bob V.

Yelp
Not impressed. Lot of money for boiled hot dogs. Don't understand all the hype. One and done visit for us.

Courtney V.

Yelp
While we were in town for a trip we learned that Flo's was the spot to make sure we stopped at. We are glad we did, they have delicious hotdogs and a pretty tasty veg option. The veg option I ordered was the relish, sauerkraut and celery salt. We learned that the owner has had many visitors over the years that have become vegetarian and she knows exactly what you're looking for. Two buns, 2 chips $8 cash only. Next time I'm in town, I'll make sure to stop at Flo's.

Bob K.

Yelp
One star only because the people are really nice. Probably one of the worse hot dogs I've ever had. The place is a novelty & throw back but if you want a good hot dog don't go there.

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Still one of the best hot dogs you can get. It's not about the hot dog. It's not about the rolls. It's about Flo's sauce and the mayo. Yes, I said mayo. We also like onions on it along with celery salt. This particular order is call "The House Special" with onions. I come from RI where I grew up with having hot wieners. Everyone has their own specialty food they grew up with. So, I recommend you go into it with an open mind. When you go in, they will ask how many. That's it. Don't tell them how you want it. That will be after. This place has been popular for decades. There's a reason. Give it a chance. If you like hot dogs, you will like Flo's. Be prepared for a long line, there's very, very limited seating (plan on taking them to your car) and cash only.

Annzie A.

Yelp
I came here for the first...and last time. I heard that there are long lines so I was curious to try it. And the ratings on Yelp seemed pretty high as well. However it's a really tiny place and I was almost appalled at how the food was served. She was NOT using gloves, she kept touching her face, her hair, her clothes...and worst of all...handling money in the middle of preparing food. I wanted to record this but there were too many people and I didn't want to offend anyone. It is literally just a boiled hot dog with a soggy bun, mushy tasteless relish and mayo. I personally would not recommend this place to anyone for the obvious lack of hygiene and also for the tasteless food.

Claudia P.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of hotdogs, but I saw a travel show where the lady said these were so good she served them at her wedding!!! So I had to try them Out. It's the relish! Soooooo good and such a treat! I want a jar for Christmas!

Kasey K.

Yelp
Best hot dogs anywhere! No trip to Maine is complete without stopping here. I even came to get a hot dog on the day before my wedding. Get it with mayo and sauce. It's the best!

Elisa F.

Yelp
Oh Flo's...this was everything I wanted it to be, and more! As I researched great foodie spots for our trip to York, ME, Flo's kept coming up. The first few days there, they were closed, as they're only open Thursday - Sunday 11-3PM. So Thursday around 2PM we made it happen. The ordering system is a little odd... one line to place your order, one line to pickup, but at least it's not as strict as some of the stories I've heard. We ordered both the House Special and the Loaded and wowowowow. The house special. Perfection with that relish. And topped on a perfectly cooked hot dog with that beautiful snap too. The prices are just as great as the dogs. The hubs even came back the next day to get more! Be prepared to sit in your car and eat, it's worth it to have it warm as they steam the buns too. They wrap the dogs in napkins which I thought was a bit odd but I guess it's cause they're old school. I'm so glad we got to come to this iconic road stop that was only 10 minutes away from our Air BnB!

Susan R.

Yelp
I've never been so nervous to order a hot dog that I even forgot to say I am allergic to mustard. But I followed all of the instructions and enjoyed 2 tasty dogs outside on a picnic table. The Flo's relish is unique and tasty. I will stop by again next trip to Maine.

John M.

Yelp
First I must point out that I am **NOT** a hot dog lover. On some occasions, when given the choice of a hot dog or nothing, I have chosen nothing. It is for that reason that over the past 25 years of going to Ogunquit I have passed by Flo's without a care in the world... until this past mid October 2021. This sunny and quite warm day I was headed back to Boston to fly out, when I noticed Flo's was just about to open and there was a very small line starting. With quite a bit of time on my hands, I decided to give Flo's a try and pulled in. Setting the bar fairly low, I ordered one... yes, just one hot dog to give it the old "taste test". I can say I was truly surprised how good the hot dog was. It had a good snap and with the relish (of which I bought a jar of) offered quite a punch of flavor. I immediately regretted buying just one and at the same time thought of what I had missed out on all of these years! As others have pointed out parking is not the greatest (backing into the space is recommended) and yes, it really is cash only but still worth the effort! As of this writing, your choices are eating in your vehicle or just standing outside but still I would recommend stopping here as I certainly will again!

Joe D.

Yelp
all the hype had to try it out. hot dog is mediocre at its best. Bun was similar to the cheap ones at the grocery store, only squished and soggy.

David T.

Yelp
What a jem! When a place has been in business for this long doing pretty much one thing it means they have mastered it. Flo's has exceptional hot dogs steamed perfectly with an amazing house relish that sets them Apart from the rest. Believe me when I say the relish is pure gold. If your in the area stop and treat yourself to an amazing dog!

Dennis N.

Yelp
Tried Flo's hot dogs many years ago because of all the hype. The hot dog with the special sauce was just ok but at least I can say I tried it. Not sure why people think these hot dogs are so great. They are not. You can make better hot dogs on your grill at home. To anyone who is thinking of trying it don't bother. Life is too short.

Roger N.

Yelp
Not sure the draw here. The hot dog buns were soaked and mushy. Sorry, would love to support local business but not a fan.

Jim C.

Yelp
Flo's is a must-have whenever we visit the Cape Neddick area. Their hot dogs are like no other! The house special is our go-to (mayo, Flo's relish, and celery salt. Flo's is family run and been there for generations!

Samantha A.

Yelp
Best hot dogs I've ever had and the friendliest service. I will always be back also super homey feel and always made fresh, well worth it!
