Google
This place was a lot of fun, with what appears to be a genuine folk experience with traditional food, music, toys and beautiful souvenirs. We enjoyed this more than any other attraction on our trip. Highly recommended.

Google
Amazing experience! Fun, entertaining. I don’t know how to dance, both my left foot drag me into the dance floor! That’s how enjoyable and fun it is to be there.

Google
Great spot for lunch or icecream! Was able to make the tempeh ruben vegan for us. Also lots of good vegetarian options. Gendered washrooms.

Google
An all time classic. Worth the drive down from from the 81 or the parkway or from anywhere really. Great food too. Didn’t expect that. Music is amazing, atmosphere is legendary, and it is just a great place to spend an evening. So glad it just keeps going and going. Also, the ambiance around the store with jam sessions and folks trying to pick a tune here, there, and everywhere is unbelievable. So fun.

From what I understand this store used to be the center of attraction for Floyd, just what I was told. What I saw when I was there was a fairly interesting old style store. What really did it though was the prices on food... $8 for grilled cheese and soup? $9 BLT? We tried the Reuben my fiancee used to love and it wasn't the same. Also tried the cran-turkey sandwich, which well, tasted like thanksgiving. I was disappointed that the price tags these dishes have come with plain lays chips on the side. I would almost accept the price if they had homemade chips, the bagged chips accent to the dish just took so much away from everything. The desserts were pricey but very good. Really enjoyed the brownie made with dark chocolate, that was fantastic.

Google
A must-visit for fans of American roots music, with great pinto beans 'n cornbread.

Google
This is the heart of downtown Floyd, VA... restaurant, soda fountain and adorable country store. We experienced the joy of all three during our weekend visit - grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch hit the spot (with baked goods to-go), ice cream and root beer float was the evening treat and then we (been there, done that) bought the t-shirt in the store. The Friday night jamboree was a fun scene to watch, and we enjoyed the independent jam bands on the street as well. Very cool vibe! Love supporting local.

Google
i have been visiting this place for over 20 years, and it never gets old. Food is great, and mountain music is a constant reminder of my heritage and roots in the Blue Ridge mountains. the nostalgia of a bygone place but up to date and a great stop

Yelp
I have never been to a bluegrass concert in my life, and this was a great first experience. I came on a Friday evening and it was packed. There wasn't any seating by the time my friends and I got there, but it was still a good time. The store has a ton of cool antique candies/other goodies. Also, the ice cream - I want to give them a shoutout for having multiple dairy-free options for my lactose-intolerant self. I went with the oatmilk chocolate chip, which was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend giving this spot a visit!

Yelp
Was in town recently and stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for the live music. This store is busy and the bluegrass music on sundays has quite a draw. The Floyd Country store is a part of the Crooked Road Hertiage Music Trail. I arrived about 1-1:30 and there were eighteen or so fiddle and string players, by the time it got to 3:00 there were at least 30. People dancing and enjoying the music and space. There is a lot of seating and this venue can easily hold a couple hundred folks. Did not try the food, but there were many people eating and enjoying the music the afternoon of my visit. If you like bluegrass this is a must stop, music and a cool century plus old venue thats been lovingly maintained and renovated over the years, also well worth the effort. Enjoy eclectic towns steep in history and gracious community, be sure and put this one on your list. 4.5 Stars rounded up for the front bench outside 01035

Yelp
Cute store/cafe/music venue in the heart of small town Floyd. I liked the key lime pie, and I also bought some jam and bar soap for gifts. The employees were friendly, food and drip coffee were decent, and prices were reasonable. Enjoyed my visit, and the live music was a nice bonus!

Yelp
Where else can you go and get a homemade soda; syrup mixed with carbonated water. It's also great with a fresh scoop of ice-cream! I really enjoyed my time!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by for ice cream and cream soda after seeing the cute storefront! We were so happy with the delicious treats we had to stop by more than once during our stay in the area! Rachel is lovely and greeted us with such kindness and joy, her energy really makes this soda/ice cream shop a true gem "Breaking Up Christmas" is an amazing option if you enjoy York peppermint patties as much as I do! Another great option is the "Cacklin-Hen" for any eggnog lovers out there. So many amazing options to try! Very much looking forward to stopping by on our next trip to the area!

Yelp
This place really impressed me. Driving 1.5 hours from my new home having not had the best food experiences I was not expecting the flavor that came out of this place. Not to mention the ambiance is pure old fashioned country store. I wasn't sure what to expect when beans were being sold as an entree but YUM!!!! And it was a great serving. Mac and cheese beat my test. Pasta was not mushy, there was TONS of garlic and lots of cheese. Also, a great portion. The Turkey and cranberry sandwich was good. The compote was a bit too much for me as it took over the whole sandwich. Felt like I needed some cheese or something to offset the sweet and tangy from the compote. I didn't get to try the tuna salad or grilled cheese but I included them in the photos. They got rave reviews from my party and every once was devoured even by the children. Live music happens on the indoor and outdoor stages and there was plenty of seating. Soda fountain had some off brand sodas which I now wish I would have taken a picture of cause I want more of it. Cinnamon coke, ginger beer, and other different flavors. The people there were awesome. Everyone has a smile and food came out hot, fresh and quickly. Not sure I would drive down unless there was an event but I would definitely stop by again if I was in town.

Yelp
I love this place!!! The grilled cheese is to die for. Every time I come here they are so nice and there's a nice little shop inside too. Also they have live performances from time to time! Love it!

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon to have a piece of apple pie with coffee and to watch live music. The musicians were very talented, after 330 they were breaking down the tables to make room for the evening dance lineup. The apple pie was delicious and staff warmed it up for me. They were out of decaf coffee and made some fresh coffee for me. A very quaint store with a country style food menu, desserts, and a gift area.

Yelp
The store is a real local fixture. We stopped for ice cream (which was reasonably priced $4.50). They serve two types of ice cream. One from the local Homestead Creamery and Tillamook. We came for the local ice cream and were not disappointed. I got the lemon crunch and hubs got the cookies and cream - a well deserved treat after hiking the Black Ridge loop at Rocky Knob. The real star is though was the carrot cake. I read about it from other reviewers and took a piece to go. I took a nibble in the car on the way back to our camping spot and may have accidentally ate half.

Yelp
I have always feel unwelcome at this place when I've come in the past eight years. The staff is generally very friendly, as are the vast majority of the people in Floyd County. I've had my stuff moved when someone else wanted to sit in the place I'd set my gear for the jam, I've been asked to move from a table before I've even finished my tea after dessert, and I've felt like I was in the way when I was paid to play there. Today was a reminder of why I avoid the Floyd Country Store. But I sat in my uncomfortable chair to hear the music and watched people who'd arrived before me sit unharassed with there bottles of water, and I wasn't surprised that there were empty tables around the place for most of the show. Hospitality is not the Floyd Country Store's forte.

Yelp
Can't beat the food , service or music. For delicious cornbread and pinto beans, this is a great place to stop. You order at the register and find a seat and they bring your food to you. The bakery items are so good. I highly recommended the pecan bars

Yelp
Floyd Country Store I have wanted to experience for many years. Terri and I were in Floyd looking at a quilting machine. There is not a lot of dinner seating on Saturday night because it is now set up for a Country music concert. Dinner was tasty geared toward country fare. Simple and delicious, especially dessert . We got the full monte that evening. We would like to return with friends.

Yelp
Floyd Country Store is a Fine Find Our family took a drive down to Floyd from Christiansburg on this Fourth of July to visit this little slice of Americana. The store is situated in the middle of its namesake town, Floyd, about a half an hour south of I-81. We went there for lunch and to take in what downtown Floyd had to offer. The store is a conglomeration of a sandwich shop, dessert shop, candy store, soda fountain, and an eclectic assortment of various merchandise. To top it all off, it turns into a live music venue on a weekly basis. That said, we were here for lunch and to shop around. While they do have an assortment of local comfort food, our crew opted for a few of their sandwiches, all of which were very tasty. I had the cran-turkey sandwich, which is a grilled turkey, cheese, onion, and cranberry sauce sandwich...very good tasting. We finished up with a couple of homemade desserts - key lime pie and apricot-almond cheesecake, plus a sampling from then ice cream shop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The overall atmosphere was great. If you are in the general area, it is worth the visit.

Yelp
Just what you would imagine a country store to be. The place takes you back into time but in a great way. There's lot of little gifts and stuff to buy but there's also a pretty nice looking menu. It was a cloudy day that looked like it was going to rain, so I went with a nice Grown Up Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. The bread was cooked to perfection and there was so much flavor within the grilled cheese. I thought the olives would have taken over, but it was balanced out. The tomato soup was some of the best I've ever had and you could tell it was made from scratch. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because I was not greeted by a single person in there. They said hi to my girlfriend but pretty much ignored the fact that I was there.

Yelp
Located on an adorable main street in Floyd, this store offers excellent sandwiches and artisan goods. I stopped here on the drive back to Richmond from southwest VA, and picked up a sandwich and some snacks to go. I also picked up some postcards and some artisan chocolate and soaps from the general store side. The turkey sandwich I ordered was delicious - fresh and well filled. It came with a crunchy fill pickle an a pile of chips. It was a reasonable price (under $10),. I wanted to try some of their soups or mac and cheese, but those are much harder to eat in the car. Staff were wearing masks, most of the tables for dine in were closed off for social distancing. This little gem is the heart of main street, offering live bluegrass music on Friday nights. Maybe I'll visit for that after the pandemic...

Yelp
The food is always fresh and they don't skimp on their portions. The people who work there in the store are absolutely wonderful. They're friendly and courteous and always happy to help you out. The store is stocked and set up in a way that just makes you feel comfortable and at ease. They have so much more to offer than food, though! There are books, greeting cards, toys, toiletries, Carhart products, kitchen items, walking sticks, (not the bugs), etc. I could go on and on, but I won't, I guess you'll just have to come on down and experience it for yourself! You won't be sorry!

Bradley W.

Yelp
It's a nice store with a variety of local products you can buy. I had the roast beef sandwich and a bottled water. With a 15% tip the total came to $19.78. Honest opinion: the sandwich was average and a little pricey considering its quality. I'd like to try again when they have live music. The desserts looked good but I wasn't able to try any this visit.

Yelp
This place's claim to fame is its storied musical performances, yet somehow I've never attended one of these. I have, though, stopped in to pick up lunch on many an occasion, and the choices are outstanding. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. There's lots of other merchandise for sale, too. Stop in for postcards to send home. Also worth checking out are food items from local farms, including organic items.

Yelp
We took a road trip of 4 hours just to come to this venue!! Yes...the Floyd Country Store is iconic with a capital "I"!! After discovering the store in a cross country motorcycle trip, my husband couldn't stop talking about what a cool experience it was. So for his birthday, we planned a trip to Floyd for their Friday night jam sessions. After walking around town and listening to people jam, we headed into the Store to hear the band play a variety of bluegrass/ folk--generally boot stomping music. The Floyd Country Store's Friday Night Jamboree was a super fun immersive experience (even if you just sit in the "audience" to listen to the band, kids from the music school performing onstage or watching people do the two-step, square dance or clog dance. Plus, there is a restaurant, bakery (the size of a slice of carrot cake looks to be about a quarter of the cake!!) and gift shop. It sort of reminds you of an old time general store, and the best part about going there--is that everyone is welcome. The dance floor had children all the way up to ninety year olds, and everyone was having a great time. If I could add a plus to my 5 star review, I would. The Floyd Country Store is a destination that's not to be missed!

Yelp
Great Place. Great venue. The food was excellent. The people were super nice. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We love Floyd Country store! The best food and ambiance. The staff are always kind and friendly.

Yelp
1/5/19 I am sitting in the Floyd Country Store for their radio show that they have the first Saturday of the month ( a great take off on The Prairie Home Companion Show)... getting ready to hear a whole lot of good guitar and banjo pickin and singin...the show is from 7:00 to around 9:30-10:00. My dinner of Brunswick Stew, (made with chicken not squirrel) , collard greens with bacon, and mac and cheese was really delicious ( but a little pricey). Update after the show. The variety show was a combination of jokes, skits, and music, the highlight of the show was a group of four young men, the oldest was 18 and the other three were 14 and 15 The groups name is Shadowgrass, these young musicians were wonderfull, truly professional musicians, if you ever are in an area they they are performing check them out.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great find! Food was very good and customer service was great. We loved the dessert case and the fresh collards! Woohoo! Will go back.

Yelp
Just a wonderful jewel in the crown. Of Floyd. Friday nights are a must. It's long been the staple of Floyd tourism for a reason. Excellent owners and excellent stuff. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The town of Floyd sits about 30 minutes away from I-81 south of Christiansburg. The sparkling jewel in the middle of the town is the famous Floyd Country Store! Trust me, it is worth the drive! The Floyd Country Store is an eatery, a music venue, and a store. The store sells penny candies, local music and books, and instruments. You can also find a variety of local crafts, soaps, and lotions as well as great gifts for any occasion. The music venue is amazing! Every Saturday from noon to three and again in the evening, there is live bluegrass on the stage. Get there early to get a table. They have a complete schedule of music acts that perform most nights of the week. Visit their website to see the calendar. Now let's get serious and talk about the food.... They have an awesome lunch cafe menu that has sandwiches and hot lunches. My favorite is the bowl of pintos with chopped onions with a side of cornbread, mac and cheese, and greens. My mouth is drooling just writing this which is sad because I am about five hours away. :( One tip of advice is to make sure to save room for dessert! They have an ice cream counter, a selection of cakes, and my favorite PIES! The peanut butter pie is just to die for. We often order a whole pie to go! The staff is really friendly and the energy of the patrons is infectious! After the lunch and music, take time to visit some of the local shops which are all indy and fun!
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
If you are looking for freshly made sandwiches and other items then here you go. We had the Ruben and a grilled cheese I got a side of macaroni and cheese and my wife had pickled beets both were very good. Now be ready these are pickled beets. The sandwiches come with chips and a quartered pickle. The food was served warm as soon as it was ready. It is also clean up after yourself. They have live entertainment also.

Yelp
What a great place to spend a Friday night- way, way back in the woods. Packed to the ceiling with no available seats and filled with the sounds of fiddles and banjos. People were enjoying the music and admiring the young and agile dancers along with the majority of less-than-agile. One thing stands out immediately- you see practically no one talking on their cell phones or texting away on their smartphones. It's hard to believe there are places these days with little or no cell phone coverage, but this area has little or none, at least with ATT&T, maybe with some other carrier. If people on cell phones bug you, this place will give you a pleasant surprise. Food was great, nothing fancy- mostly soup and sandwiches. Wonderful chili and cornbread, a hot dog with chili and slaw made for a perfect supper with friendly people, great music and a variety of deserts including cakes, cookies, hand scooped ice cream and assorted pastries. If you are near Floyd, this is a great place to visit.

Peggy L.

Yelp
Definitely a 5 star review. Coming from a larger city and heading into the town of Floyd is like taking a step back in time. The staff at the Floyd Country Store are friendly and so very welcoming. The food is fresh and delicious. My husband and I shared the beets and a grown up grilled cheese (which I have to say I now make at home because we liked it so much) We went on a Sunday and they had a band playing from 1-6 it's a Sunday music jam. Just wonderful. Folks were dancing. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Tables are plentiful. There is an ice cream shop connected to the country store. Old fashioned down home charm. Would definitely recommend this treasure if you're driving through the blue ridge mountains. Check it out.....it doesn't disappoint!!

Kelly H.

Yelp
Cute place in downtown Floyd! Great place to grab a bite to eat or an ice cream cone.
google avatar

Gabriele P.

Yelp
So much fun to be there. I Ordered a turkey Reuben for lunch and enjoyed it thoroughly while listening to great music. It was packed at late lunch mostly for the music. I stayed for the second round of bluegrass strumming and enjoyed a root beer float. Soo yummy
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
Cute place that seems to be the big draw in town. We had just missed a performance so I was sorry not to experience that. We had already had lunch elsewhere so we passed on the food, which did smell really good! We just stopped in to check out of rest of the store. Lots of cute chotchkies that you'd expect in a general store, a nice music section with books and CD's, and even a few supplies for musicians. Very friendly employees, bright and inviting atmosphere. Go check it out if you're in town!
google avatar

Don C.

Yelp
Must stop here if you're in this country! Even better if you're Friday night for the music. I had the chicken salad which was outstanding! She had a something wrap and she loved it too. Mostly she poked around "shopping" through the tschotske on the shelves. Then ice cream after lunch! Pies were available, (a must have at a place like this) but I was in an ice cream mood. Anyway, this is a don't miss place! Even if you don't eat, just check it out, and try to be there on Friday night!
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
I'm gonna give this a 5 star even though I didn't like the carrot Cake. This place is super cute and has super friendly people that work there. The cookies are amazing! We had a peanut butter cookie and a cowboy cookie both were fabulous. The carrot cake looked really good and I really wanted to like it, however, I could definitely taste a lot of honey in the carrot cake. I do not like honey! I did buy a really yummy body butter lotion, it smells delightful and my skin feels like silk ! I wish I would've bought two. The decor was awesome, authentic and rustic. Also, on Friday and Saturday nights, they move the tables in the back out of the way and have live bands play music. They have a little café in there as well, the food looked amazing especially the chili and chicken pot pie.
google avatar

Leigh P.

Yelp
Wonderful homemade desserts! We got the 4 layer carrot cake and the key lime pie and all i can say is WOWEEEE!!! Delicious! Homemade pie crust and all from scratch. Live music jam outside. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Great food and awesome service! Really unique store, and worth the trip! There's something for everyone.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
The Country Store Cafe is amazing. My friend and I ordered soup and grilled cheese. The tomato soup is homemade and so delicious. The grilled cheese was on local made sourdough bread and paired perfectly with the soup! Such a great spot for lunch and the employees were so friendly and helpful! A must stop place when visiting the quaint town of Floyd!!
google avatar

Serena P.

Yelp
Nice spot for a quick bite and watch musicians playing bluegrass music. Trinkets and such as expensive. Place is clean.
google avatar

Ben R.

Yelp
5/5 would get the pie again! We stopped in for a pre-hike slice of apple pie a la mode (I guess because ice cream is still in fashion?) and stayed to listen to bluegrass while we ate. I'd recommend stopping in for a light meal or snack anytime you're taking the blue ridge through the area. Or maybe just for some great music.

Hope S.

Yelp
The food is very reasonably priced and there is new seating outdoors, as well as indoors. Order at the counter, and the staff brings the order on a tray to your table. The quality is excellent. The salads are made with very fresh, local ingredients -- not out of a bag. The soups and sandwiches are all made in-house, and the baked goods and ice cream (at adjacent shop) are excellent. This is a very fun place to go in Floyd for lunch or dinner -- without a long wait or spending a lot of money.

Generic B.

Yelp
The food is always good, staff is always nice, the place is always clean. The baked goods are AMAZING!
google avatar

Tom P.

Yelp
Always great. Went Sunday for the jam sessions and stayed all afternoon, great entertainment, and it's free! The food is also excellent
google avatar

Orr R.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, mostly delicious Southern food & desserts, adorably kitschy candy and tchotchke assortment, welcoming dance floor and company. The macaroni and cheese was gooey and flavorful, the kale quiche was rich and interesting, the pickles were crisp and enormous, etc. Some dishes were not spectacular, but we were impressed overall. The pecan pie was decadent, as we the other bars and cookies we sampled. Visiting the Country Store gives one a nice opportunity to step away from contemporary activities and to enjoy a simpler, yet nonetheless captivating dance party. =) Wonderful for all ages, there were 20-something hipsters dancing cheerfully alongside both 8- and 80-year-olds. I look forward to visiting again once the weather warms up!

Yelp
The Floyd Country store is a place ripped straight out of the old ways of small town living. The store itself is in my opinion, reasonably priced for the things you can purchase. There's a variety of unique things that are either from local artisans or fall into a very niche market. There's a counter for musical instruments, which I think is very interesting because the whole store values music so much. There's also a big section that is all just CDs. The rest of the store ranges from cooking supplies to overalls to art supplies to kids toys, truly an actual country store with "a lil bit of everything". The food is amazing. They have ice cream but their real stars are their actual food. I have yet to have anything from the store that wasn't simply amazing. My favorite thing they make is their peanut butter pie. It's all a little expensive but it's all fresh and local so I don't feel that bad about supporting a local business. They have live music frequently which just adds to the authenticity of the experience. Everyone who plays is so talented and it's amazing they have this for free. Also, they have free WiFi which is a godsend because I don't get service in all of Floyd with T-Mobile.
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
So glad we stopped in at this jewel. Not a lot of people wandering around Floyd on a frigid January Saturday, but there was a band playing and delicious grilled cheese and tomato soup. We had a group of 5 and got a nice big table up front. Charming is an understatement!

Andrei H.

Yelp
Amazingly good place. One of those hidden gems with great authentic food, good prices and a friendly local feel!
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
This was a hoot nanny of fun. The charm and ambiance are like a local Cracker Barrel with much better food choices. The merchandise and the fact that they have dancing on Friday night made this place exactly what I had expected. Ice cream sandwiches can be made to order with choice of cookies and ice cream. Was a little disappointed in the mac & cheese. I wanted creamer and cheesier.

Anne A.

Yelp
The Floyd Country Store is the heart of Floyd!! GREAT tasting, healthy, lovingly prepared local food in our historic town. Incredible music concerts (keep an eye on their events because a great performer might suddenly spring up for a weekday concert! Plus the Floyd Radio Show and the Friday Night Jamboree. The must stop in place if you come to Floyd!

Andrew B.

Yelp
Awesome place to visit on a Friday night, the people in Floyd are so friendly and it is awesome to see how many people come to this town to listen to blue grass, and enjoy the southern hospitality that this town offers. We highly recommend this place to others.

Yelp
In addition to selling handy items like knives, t-shirts, and gifts, FCS has a superb cafe. Unfortunately for us, we only get to enjoy it 6 or 7 times a year as we're on route to visit family and friends in Roanoke. But you can't go wrong with excellent sandwiches, delicious soups, and just some of the best quiches I've ever had Desserts are very good as well with freshly made cookies, pies, and cakes, etc. All at a very reasonable price. Place your order at the counter and have a seat at the center of the store where you can envision the next concert or dance at the back of the store on weekend nights. We've heard tales of wonderful evenings here, with groups like the Carolina Chocolate Drops kicking out the jams and the audience kicking off their shoes and dancing barefoot.
