Fluhalp (Mountain Hut & Restaurant)

We walked there in winter from the cable car. It was an easy 30 minutes hike as well as a mesmerizing scenery coming over to the restaurant. I would recommend taking a sledge to use it on the way back. (Ahahaha) At the restaurant, waitresses were super welcoming, food was tasty and the view is breathtaking. I am looking forward to staying there an overnight in summer.

On overnight stay at Fluhalp hut is an amazing experience. The hut is easily accessible (45 minute hike) from the Blauherd cable car station, but still seems very remote and peaceful. The rooms are small, simple and bathrooms are shared, but the stay is still very comfortable. Nothing can beat the view of the Matterhorn from the room. We enjoyed afternoon drinks on the patio, and delicious dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Definitely get up early to catch the Matterhorn and its reflection on Stellisee lake.

After two weeks of hiking hut to hut in the Swiss Alps this was our last stop. The food, staff and service were great. Had the potato soup and a few drinks while waiting to check in and I’m still thinking about that soup. However due to the ability to easily reach this hut without any real physical exertion it felt less authentic. Other guests were fairly loud and unruly well into the early morning (2 am). Compared to other huts that required hiking to reach, guests are more respectful and quiet as everyone is out to hike again early the next morning. The walls are very thin and you can easily hear between rooms. Floors and doors are very creaky which was not a problem for me but I did feel bad for potentially disturbing others. There are definitely more authentic experiences from other huts that require actual hiking to get to. For the extreme price increase compared to all our previous huts we stayed at we did not get a better or even any additional experience. If you’re here to see the Matterhorn at sunrise skip the hut and come up in the AM. We did pay for Matterhorn view from our room but it’s so easy to sit on the porch and see the same view for no additional cost that I would not bother with the extra expense.

We had an amazing time at this hut, dinner was great and authentic. The man in charge even asked us if we wanted more food of each dish. The staff were the best part of the experience as all of them were very nice and friendly. The price a high but that’s the price to pay to have great wines and food on top of a mountain. Would stay again. Was magical to watch the snow falling in the middle of the summer in front of the matterhorn.

Had the time of our lives! Host was phenomenal! Room was cozy, warm, and quiet. Hopeful to return in the future. Got lucky with the clouds breaking up for a couple photos of the Matterhorn.

Fluhalp is an absolute gem high above Zermatt. The service is friendly and efficient, and the authentic alpine atmosphere makes it a perfect mountain retreat. The Apfelstrudel is absolutely delicious – a must-try! Food overall is of great quality, and surprisingly, the prices are very reasonable for a mountain restaurant. What really sets Fluhalp apart is the breathtaking panoramic view of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, so you can soak it all in while enjoying your meal. On a practical note, the place is well-maintained, with clean toilets – always a plus when you're up in the mountains. Whether you're hiking, skiing, or just out for a scenic stop, Fluhalp is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back!

Overall wasn’t worth it. Bought the most expensive room and still had to pay to take a shower and fill up my water bottle with water. I thought the price was for the room but it’s that price on the website PER PERSON. So expect to be paying a lot of money when checking out because they also charge you if you get a soda at dinner. The dinner wasn’t filling and wasn’t that good. I’m also convinced I had black mold in my room.

Nice place, nice view, good dinner. Breakfast can be so much improved compared to dinner is so low quality
