Yelp
This review is for Americans. On my last day in Paris, and because I had passed it all month and wondered, I lunched at Flunch. It is the equivalent of a Sizzler steak place or Fresh Choice. The quality isn't great but it isn't bad either.
Flunch has several counters which contain all salad items, or all breakfast items, or all desserts, or all drinks, the hot meats section, etc. The only counter that is tended is the hot meats section where you can belly up, point and have a steaming slab of beef, pork, chicken or fish plonked on your plate.
You get your salad, drink and whatever else and pay. There are hot vegetables at a steam table, with booth-style seating lining the floor. And an espresso machine you can work with the aid of a purchased token coin.
I had a portion of roast lamb with whipped potatoes, corn, green beans and assorted other stuff like a yogurt, chopped fruit salad and a green salad. It was all pretty much middle of the road. Cheap, filling, but not a spiritual experience by a long shot.
Lots of German tourists there for some reason, livened up the place with singing.
On the whole, had it not been my last day I'd never have eaten there. I mean, you're in freakin' *Paris*, dude. Eat where the locals do. They don't eat at Flunch. Save for that severely rainy day when you can't make it to the Cafe du Mont Lozere, or even more arty: the cafe in Centre Georges Pompidou.
