"Where the Hip Kids Cool Off in Zurich West The hip and edgy kids of Zurich West cool off at this graffitied urban badi on the banks of the Limmat River. They're either sunbathing on the narrow strip of lawn, dangling their legs off the wooden platform, or taking a plunge into the 400-meter long swimming channel. If you want to follow suit on the latter, take caution: currents can get strong. Tamer pursuits include petanque and beach volleyball."

I can barely afford anything in Swiss, but this outdoor swimming pool is FREE. They have a locker, changing room, shower, and toilet for FREE. All you need to do is to swim, read, sleep, drink, and repeat.

One the most lively places in Zurich during summer. Great for swimming and also chilling under the sun. Pretty packed, so reach before 6 if you want enough space to lay down.

Very nice place to swim on a hot day. Can be very crowded in the evenings, especially Friday-Sunday. Requieres 2 chf coin for small lockers or your own lock for bigger storage. Be mindful of the closing times, otherwise your clothes will be locked for the night. Possible to jump from the bridge into the river

Public, safe, clean and free. What more can one ask for? A wonderful experience to mingle among the locals in this beautiful city. Sun bathing or swimming in the clear cool water on a hot summer day. Toilet, changing facilities are available and the nearby establishment is readily available for a cold drink. A truly unique experice when one is visiting Zurich.

Great place to swim in the river. There is some current and many safety ladders. The opposite bank is open when the club side is closed, and many locals come for an early morning swim.

Nice evening place to hangout. The vibe is totally different here. The music, the lights, the people, the water, the beauty.. everything is beautiful. The cleanest place and the good flow of water

One of the most colorful places in Zurich: people of all sorts gather at the river for drinking, swimming, sunbathing, playing... in a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting, especially in spring/summer

Absolutely loved it here. The water was insanely clear and the bridge is so much fun to jump off (if you can swim against the current to get up there!) The Flussbad facilities were amazing. Free, clean, with lockers and hairdryers available. Very secure to keep belongings. Sun loungers and diving boards for the summer. Lifeguards were nearby so felt safe. Can't rate this place highly enough.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Oberer Letten. You can find me almost daily here when the sun is shinning. Oberer Letten as 2 sides where you can hang out. The right side (with your back towards the city) is the most hip place. Here you have a nice bar with sometimes night events. You find a more young audience. You can play Volleyball and here are a lot of kids also skating. The food is good. You have to try for sure the burgers. The left side of the river you also have a bar. and a private section only for women to bath. at this side you also have the life guards, dressing rooms and showers. There are small lockers and bigger ones. The bar lost a bit of his charms after the renovation last year. They are slow to prepare the food (last time I had to wait 20 minutes for french fries - it was a weekday, so not too much people around). Lets hope that this year they improved there services :) If you have something to inflate, there is a pump close to the lockers. It is very useful if you have a boat to inflate :) This is for me a very nice place in Kreis 5 - it is very local, you don't have the tourists from the lake and you can swim, drink and eat !

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Oberer Letten because it's in a great location and there's a lot of stuff. They have volleyball court, a skate court, a nice bar/restaurant area, and a big walkway that leads further west. I've only been on the one side (the right side, with your back towards the city, thanks Sebastien). I loved the little restaurant because it has a nice shaded patio and across the walkway you can sit closer to the water and they provide quite a bit of seating. The place has a pretty hip and alternative feel, and I always dig that because it reminds me of Austin! The graffiti is even pretty. The beer prices were good, and the focaccia bread was delicious and pretty big. Personally, I'm not a big fan of sunbathing here. It's so packed and there isn't any grass! For me, it's not so relaxing, but I'd come with friends for having some fun. Otherwise, I prefer Rentenwiese, less people, quite, and relaxing.

Yelp
Came here when the sun was shining after work on a Monday, I think. There were so many folks all over I'm surprised the dock didn't sink! The water was nice and cool and they had a lil riverside cafe. The tuna and beef burgers, were pricey, but tasted OK. Don't forget to return your glasses to collect the depot. I think it was 1 Frank a piece, just a lil tip, you know :-) It was hard to find a spot, and there was always music playing. Great place to chill in the heat, but a bit of an "alternative" spot (just sayin'). Super easy to get to, walk 10 minutes-ish behind HB. And there's a spot on each side of the river, so you can't miss it from either way!

Yelp
LOVE this place!! It gets packed on a summer day or weekend but the Limmat River beautifully flows by with swimmers and various floats and you can people watch. There are chairs or grassy spots on both sides and people float or swim down the River, which is running pretty quickly, and you can either hold onto the metal rails on either side of the river or get out using one of the ladders along the river and walk back upstream before jumping in again. The water is colder than in the Lake because it is constantly flowing but it is really refreshing. There is a place you can grab beers, water and food and there are lots of people hanging out, drinking their own wine/beer/cocktails and playing music. It's a fun spot and there are some families, but it's mostly younger people, locals and foreigners and it feels a little like Southern California!
