Flute World

Great experience to purchase a flute! We had a personal guide show us 6 different flutes in our price range. My daughter played each one for about an hour during our appointment and we picked on! Great customer service and support!!

When we bought my daughter her flute the sales person spent several hours with her making sure it was the right fit for her and they have always been there when we needed emergency repairs. The people here have always been fantastic.

Flute World is a wonderful place to purchase a new flute and music! Daniel helped my son pick the next flute in his music journey. He was so nice! My son tried many different flutes until he found the flute that felt natural to hold and play. We were there for a while and we were encouraged to take our time to decide. I’ve been playing on a Haynes flute from Flute World for months now, and it’s truly a professional instrument. The response and intonation are exceptional. Flute World’s staff were incredibly knowledgeable, guiding me through every step of the selection process.

They asked me about what brands I wanted to try, foot style, key style, and head joint. Right away they brought in several flutes for me to try out. They helped me pick the correct one and even offered me music to play when trying them out. I found the best flute for me and checkout was quick and easy. The lady helping me told me about the warranty and how to clean my flute. Great experience overall.

I placed an online order 4 weeks ago and have yet to receive it. After numerous emails and attempts to reach them by phone I finally spoke with someone last week who said he would get it in the mail that day. BUT NO. . I have yet to receive any proof that it was sent! They had no trouble charging my account on the day the order was placed! I wonder if I'll EVER receive my order.

I attended the NFA convention this year (2022) in Chicago. While shopping, I stopped at the Flute World booth, made several purchases and was told one of the pieces had to be sent to me. I was told there would be no charge for shipping and the music would be sent to me in a short time. That was August 12, 2022. It is now November 7, 2022, and not only has the music not shown up, but after three phone messages and three emails (which is the ONLY way to reach these people), I have had no response what so ever. My recommendation to future customers is, stay as far away from this establishment as possible. Since I cannot submit my review without a star rating, one star appears; pay no attention to this, the proper number is less than zero, for obvious reasons.

The Detroit area is fortunate to have so many great musicians. We're also lucky to have so many amature musicians in the area including flute players. And the Detroit flute players are blessed with having such a large flute specialty store so close. Fluteworld is hidden in a building on Orchard Lake Road north of 13 mile across from the Taco Bell. If you didn't know to look for it, you would miss it. Despite it's non-descript interior it has shelves and shelves of sheet music, CDs, accessories and flutes. There are a large range of all kinds of flutes from several differnet brands from hundreds of dollars to ten thousand dollars. There are many interesting and knowledgeable professionals who work there. They are always available to ask questions and help in any way they can. It's clear that they love the flute and music and they know their stuff. Everytime I call I ask for Jeffrey. He's always helpful and funny and he really knows what he's talking about. If you need a flute, music or accessories or know someone who does, hurry on down to Fluteworld.

My wife recently got her flute back from repairs, she was originally quoted a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks. It was delivered on May 14th and we received it back on August 28th, it took over 15 weeks. We are really unhappy with the level of service and lack of communication through the whole process, especially spending almost $2000 on the service. We had to reach out multiple times over the 15 weeks to get status updates as there was zero communication to us from Flute World. Now that my wife is back teaching this week and able to fully put it through its paces, the first trill key has been moved off center and she keeps leaning on it due to how it's been re-positioned. We are taking it to another company for an adjustment. Avoid Flute World at all cost.

We had a wonderful experience at Flute World. We spent two hours trying flutes, then they helped us decide which was best for my daughter. We live in Georgia, so upon our return they sent us five more flutes to try and finally, my daughter has a flute that will last her through college. They made this a really fun experience. Have been a Fluteworld customer for years. Very reliable. One of my main sources for flute music. Have purchased flutes and piccolos from Fluteworld. Am now trying to sell a flute via Fluteworld but the selling process is slowwwwww.

In shopping for a new flute, I found Flute World to be about the only place you can find to try the flute out before you buy it. They had a great selection of high end flutes to try with a very knowledgeable person to explain the attributes of each flute. I tried out 5 very nice flutes in a private room and everything was ready to go as I made an appointment, explaining what I was looking for as I live 120 miles away. I'm on the 5 day trial right now, but too happy with the Julius Baker Yamaha to drive back to keep shopping. They also fixed my old flute in case I feel like selling it, an extra bonus. Excellent job by Daniel throughout the process and I'd recommend this place to any flute shopper.

They installed new pads on my flute incorrectly. Five fell off within a few months. They have yet to reimburse me for the repair. Wrote letter and sent email.

This business is a MESS. They sell "new" instruments that have been demo'd and play tested into the ground. They have no tech on staff. They send out huge quantities of the same flute for trial (sounds good, rigth? Just think how many people have messed with that flute before you get it). No good help, poorly run. Owner too old and really needs to sell or shut down. What out for their "blow out sales". These instruments are so used / demod they should be sold much much lower than what they are asking. Try from Flute World. Buy from a reputable dealer (you can get really good prices over the internet)

I just completed a web transaction with them and NOTHING is more annoying than deceptive shipping rates. In this day of Amazon, there is no excuse for per item rates, especially on sheet music. Please, the same order could have been shipped via USPS for $4.95 flat rate, versus the $11.25 I was charged. Inexcusable.
