Flying Dog Hostel B&B

Hot water in the shower, spacious room and private bathroom. Coupons for breakfast across the street where they are offering 3 different breakfast options. Best thing about this accommodation is it's location, right next to the Kennedy park. No windows in the room. Staff could be friendlier.

I decided to stay at Flying Dog Hostel, Lima after loving my stay in their Arequipa hostel. Big mistake. The only good points about this hostel are the staff are very friendly and the good location. The cleanliness of this hostel is really poor. During my time there when the cleaner came into the dorm, all they did was change the bins. I should have got pictures of the bathroom, the sink area and toilet were disgusting. On my last night, I opened my locker (which open even with your padlock locked) and there were loads of these little bugs in there! I think they may have been bedbugs because I then noticed them crawling on the bunks (pictures aren’t great but pic 1, you can see one on top of logo then pic 2, on logo on bunk). The kitchen also looked like it could have done with a good clean. Fridge desperately needed clearing out. So my advice to you is NOT to stay here if you value cleanliness and hygiene.

Avoid this place. I had private room with private bathroom. . The noise from the toilet next door was endless. I did not sleep at all. Listening to missing and shitting and noise all night. I'm about to go somewhere else. Can't wait for this to be other. Breakfast was pathetic 3 crappy options. Wont fill you up. Tiny fruit. And brought dry toast. Then asked 3 times for butter and jam. Was ignored. Just walked out. Room was garbage. Bed was dirty, got woman to change it, questionable stains all over. Staff were OK but the Staines were so obvious how could she not see. The guys were nice in the morning. Noise and overall unpleasant. Now I have not slept , i Will be tired all day.

Overall, I had a nice stay at the hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and comfortable. However, there was one thing that really concerned me. When I booked the stay, I noticed that the website only listed my nationality as “Taiwan, China.” I mentioned this to the staff at the reception and kindly asked if they could make a change or report it. While she remained friendly and smiled, she told me that because my passport says "Republic of China,I’m from China.", so they couldn’t change anything. As someone from Taiwan, I felt uncomfortable being labeled this way, and I hope the hostel or booking platform can consider being more inclusive and respectful of how people identify their nationality.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were nice, but it’s a little loud outside at night. Staff was super great!

Overall a good hostel for the price you pay. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the staff are nice, and the common areas have lots of activities to do. Only qualms are that the wifi is mediocre at best and the rooms have no noise cancelling so you can hear everything going on in the streets.

Cheap, great location, however would not stay again. Double private room had hardly any space to walk, nowhere to put luggage, nowhere to hang clothes. Only a small table and chair. Showers/toilets were clean but there weren't many showers around. There were a pool table, table fussball, which were nice for some downtime. Laundry was available (arranged by reception) and convenient to use.

Cons: They gave me a single room with no windows, despite the photos showing otherwise. Poor quality pillows and bed, and the room was cold at night. Strong damp and moldy smell in the bathroom, with only lukewarm water. Terrible soundproofing; I could hear the doorbell all night. Pros: Convenient location.
