Flying Dog Hostel Iquitos

My girlfriend and I got the private room, number 1. It had its own AC unit, private bathroom with hot water and a gorgeous view of the river overlooking the pier that goes along the river. Highly recommend it. It's walking distance from many restaurants, the main square, some museums, a motorcycle rental place, shops and such.

A great place to stay in Iquitos. The host was super friendly and recommended places to eat/drink, and will organise a tuktuk driver to take you where you need to go. The beds and bathroom was clean and we could check in early. |Great location and beautiful views from just outside!

Had a really disappointing stay here unfortunately. While the price is affordable I would recommend spending a few dollars extra to go somewhere else. I had a reservation for 5 nights and 2 of those nights I had left for a jungle tour but intended to keep my bed because the staff wasn’t willing to help me with cancelling the two nights and it wasn’t worth canceling and rebooking online. When I returned from my tour I found out that they had double booked me bed and someone else was sleeping in it despite the fact that I had already paid for the bed, they wouldn’t help me refund even though it was within the cancellation window and they didn’t notify me. I used their laundry service and it was supposed to take 24 hours but it was returned after 36 hours and when I opened the bag my clothes were still wet and some pieces had soap visible on them. No resolution was offered for either problem. Staff tended to not care or have a sour attitude at times, with the exception of Marcel, he was always friendly. Whole place is pretty run down, the cleaning staff does a pretty good job keeping bathrooms and common areas clean however.

It's ok. It has a kitchen which guests aren't meant to use until 10am but they allowed us to make our own breakfast. The photos are misleading - there's no terrace that you're allowed to access. This is because, as a member of staff told me, someone once climbed up and stole their chairs. Apparently this is also why they keep their emergency exits locked with a key - it's impossible to leave the building without a staff member to let you out, either with a button behind reception (which wouldn't work without electricity) or by going to get keys, and all the windows have bars on them. Not much good in a fire. Annoying that you're not allowed to wash your own clothes here. The bathrooms all have signs telling you not to, and when I finally found a sink that looked like it was for laundry I was told "if it was for laundry, it would say laundry". I guess it's because they want you to pay them to use their service. But it's a nice space, comfortable, clean and good for meeting other travellers, they allow families to stay and it's right on the waterfront. If only there was a terrace we were allowed to use, the view would be great.

Nice hostel. Had a very pleasent and uncomolicated stay here. The staff is very helpful and polite. I can recommend. 👍

I had a great time in this place, big kitchen,super nice staff, 2 dinning tables in kitchen, clean,big with good vibe.

Pros: great location, nice facilities, friendly staff, included breakfast (1egg + 3 pieces of bread) and coffee, comfy spacious beds. Cons: no towels included, drinking water often ran out, no bed curtains.

Great experience, strong AC, worth the price (35 soles per night in dorms)
