Lovely authentic ranch in the desert, with a rich history. We enjoyed the surroundings, and the friendly service. Home cooked meals were simple but delicious. We took a horseback ride which was also fun. The only criticism I have is that the rooms and the pool/entertainment area looked dated and were a bit run down. There was also little guidance on potential activities. We had higher expectations for the price we paid. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Went as a guest of a friend who found a great deal via her travel group. Haven't' been on a horse in 45 years but Matt and Jason got my old tired bons on lovely horses the two days we did a trail ride. Wonderful experience. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. Have to give great thanks and applause to the kitchen and dining staff. Randy was a great cook and fun as was Jenny. They made me feel like I was sitting at their own dining room table. Their warmth and friendliness were exceptional. Randy's biscuits and gravy were just WOW! The ribs....the best I have had in a long time. If I could have stuff more in, I would have. There was apparently a miscommunication between the travel group operator and the ranch but that was between them. The room was clean, beds comfortable and the little butler's pantry between our room and the one next door was an unexpected bonus! I would go back.

Our experience at the flying E has been truly exceptional, offering a wide range of exciting experiences and top-notch amenities. We highly recommend it. The cattle drive and horseback rides were standout highlights, and the staff, including Angie, Zoe, Jessie, and Chef Randy, provided outstanding service. The food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. They make you feel like part of the family and go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. We also savored a fantastic steak dinner and enjoyed live music.

We weren't staying at the Ranch but took advantage of a horse ride. My wife, our granddaughter and I went for a very enjoyable ride. If you have little experience or zero experience, they were very accommodating and helpful. Josh our wrangler had all the horses ready and paired for the riders. He explained everything that you needed to know and was extremely helpful to calm any nervousness of the horses and especially the riders!!! Josh took us out on one of the many trails on the massive ranch property and pointed out many of the landmarks. The horses just plodded along we were able to enjoy the desert with no worries. If you are in Wickenburg or Phoenix area (less than an hour away) definitely book a ride.

This might be one of the best vacation experiences ever. We stayed 3 nights during the Cowgirl Cadillacs horse sale and the staff were 5 stars all the way. They were funny and engaging and bent over backwards to make you feel at home. The cook even delivered hot chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven to our room! We were on a girls trip but I would take my family there in a heartbeat. We loved the rustic charm that made you feel like you were literally stepping back in time. If you’re looking for a plush spa vacation, this isn’t it. But if you want an authentic Dude ranch experience then Flying E has you covered. Just be weary if you don’t eat meat…

The band I tour with stayed at the Flying E Ranch while playing a show in Wickenburg. While the rooms are dated, the experience was great! It’s a great spot for an authentic ranch-style experience. I didn’t drop a star on the rating because the rooms made it more authentic. ||The hospitality was stellar. Randy, our chef for the stay, greeted us as we arrived and made sure everything was taken care of. We ate like kings for every meal. The entire staff was great! ||We had some free time in the morning and opted for a trail ride. Zoe and Matt were our guides and they did a wonderful job. The guys were talking about the trail ride for the entire trip. I would definitely visit again if I were vacationing in the area with my family. They have lots of activities that are unique to that area. ||It was a great break from the normal hotel stays we usually have.

Josh was a great horseback trail guide with emphasis on safety and care for the horses. Also, he was very hospitable and knowledgable about the surroundings and horses in general. We would ask if Josh is available for any future outings. He made our experience a joyful one.

I attended a birthday party here. Very nice Western setting and good fun. Horseback ridding, archery, lasso, hatchet throw. Good fun a d relaxing place out in the desert. Live band was there as well.

Yelp
My friends Danielle & Garrett had their wedding here & Garrett used to work here as well. Beautiful place for a wedding & since it was an "unplugged" wedding, I wasn't able to get a photo of the scenic beauty & spot where the wedding took place. It was quite a drive up to the ceremony area. 4 wheel drive vehicles only recommended just for that. We had an amazing dinner cooked/catered from the Flying E staff. Everything was so delicious: steak, salad, baked potatoes, corn, rolls, and there were plenty of drink options & hors d'ouvres before the meal. Funfetti & chocolate cupcakes, white cake, & carrot cake were the dessert options. There was dancing, cornhole to play, S'mores to make, and a log coaster branding station. This is a great place for weddings. Once it gets dark, it's hard to see to get out and it gets dusty but if you like a western theme, this is definitely your place!

Yelp
Awesome horseback riding experience. Josh led our group through the property, telling us the history of the place and cracking jokes with us the whole way. You can tell that these guys really take care of their horses and know what they're doing. Beautiful viewpoints, great company, and reasonable rates. If you want a souvenir, make sure to grab a $5 beanie from the office while you're there. Thanks again Josh and Flying E! We'll be seeing you the next time we come through Wickenburg!

Yelp
Flying E Ranch was an amazing experience for me, my boyfriend, and my city slicker kids. It is such a beautiful location, so relaxing, and Andy, Josh, and Randy we're so good to us. we had a blast horseback riding, watching the roping, playing games, and relaxing in the jacuzzi at night. they customized each meal our our wishes and needs, and were amazing hosts. driving us into the hillside to see the copper mine was an added bonus. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
No one here returns calls or answers the phone. I've been calling and emailing daily for a week!

Yelp
I recently attended Cowgirl Weekend. The weekend far exceeded my expectations! Zoey and Matt lead our rides. They were supportive, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! These weren't your ordinary flat, in the ruts, rides. We went up steep hills, across open land, sometimes blazing new trails. Super fun!! All skill levels will enjoy the rides. If you have chance, you have to take a side x side ride with Andy. He will keep you laughing for hours! He's experienced enough to keep you safe, but adventurous enough to keep your heart pumping! Let's talk about the food! Randy can whip you up the best cowgirl breakfast, eggs, biscuits, wiggly or crispy bacon, pancakes, you name it! Lunches and dinners did not disappoint. The dining room is perfect for sharing stories and getting to know your fellow riders. The rooms are rustic, cozy. You have everything you need, and I suspect if you were missing something they would round it up for you quickly. Josh and the entire team made the weekend fun and filled with things to do. My only, tiny, less than perfect comment would be the fact we never received an itinerary in advance. That caused 3 of us to check in late and miss the first ride. But the hospitality made up for that. I will go again in 2026!

Yelp
To say this ranch is amazing... that would not do it justice.. the team here and the family feeling as well as the all around care for the guests, animals and personal thought is so warming. We had Vegan, vegetarian, very strict dietary request, and we had 20+ people with us ranging from 83 years old and 5 And everyone experienced personal treatment and consideration:. Yelp
Slice of HEAVEN Looking for a weekend getaway? Ready for some Horseback riding, home cooked meals, wranglers and open range? THIS IS THAT PLACE! From Angie the Events queen ,Nicky the Office Manager , Jeff the master cook in their kitchen to a good old country boy named AARON as your favorite wrangler! Country Kindness at its FINEST. It's what the wild wild West was and still IS. roll back in time to what it was like in the early 1900s out on the open range everything here is to perfection the only time you're going to need your cell phone is to take gorgeous pictures other than that this is the best time to UNWIND! It's worth every pretty penny, you will Thank me.

Yelp
Had such a blast here with kids from work staff was amazing and food was amazing such a blast I can't wait to come back

Robo N.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Come to the Flying E for Party in the Desert...avoid the crowds....we were stuffed in a small area and herded around like cattle. 3 bar areas for over "2500" people. We were told they limited attendance but it was well over that by 750 per their own employees admission. If you want to support a place making a ton of money...cost $375,000 for weekend but sold a lot of 3 day passes for $250 for all those people...do the math.....I'm all for supporting local businesses but when it comes to safety and pleasant experience for all; these people suck. Run...fly away from Flying E while you can.

Yelp
Spent almost a week here in June, and the staff is amazing. A very immersive experience with clean rooms. Cold water and lemonade available, a large and beautiful property, and great activities such as horseback riding and off-road travels. The best steak I have ever had in my life, no joke. Hope to come back one day.

Vee R.

Yelp
Came here with family and had so much fun! The rooms are rustic but nice and clean. There's so many things to do. Play shuffle board, chess, ping pong or swim. They have beautiful horses and offer horse back riding! This is a great place to come to and disconnect from the city craziness!

Mandy B.

Yelp
The Flying E is incredible. They have a wonderful staff, awesome food and plenty of activities to keep you busy with the cleanest room imaginable. It's a great escape from any city

Yelp
My wife and I went here to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. The staff were expectational, professional, and very nice. The service was simply amazing, the food, accommodations and overall facility were excellent. The lodging is unique, it's period correct and authentic to the golden era "Dude ranches" of the South West. As a history buff this was like time traveling. The rooms are very comfortable, well maintained, clean and sharply maintained with attention to detail. I highly recommend the "flying E ranch" if your intrigued by the old west and enjoy this type of a holiday. Angie, Jacky, Taylor, Josh and all the staff exceeded all expectations. We will be back and plan to make this a regular occasion. Don't miss this place!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place for an intimate concert. Angela and Cowboy Tyler were so accommodating. Truly rolled out the red carpet. The concert was excellent. Bonfires blazing. Ice cold beer and a very affordable price. Room was very clean. What more could you aak for??? We will be back and make it to the bbq too. Smelled delish.

Lin C.

Yelp
It's a wonderful place. The staff is friendly, the grounds are clean, good is good! Go!!!

Yelp
Just finished a family trail ride. 5 stars go to Flying E- well cares for and friendly horses, amazing views of Wickenburg countryside (Vulture Mtn) and superb trail boss + staff wranglers. Thank you to Aaron, Rick & Patty for making our ride special and the highlight of our trip to Wickenburg. We did not stay at the ranch, but would consider it! They offer breakfast & lunch rides. The staff of Flying E are top notch!

Connie S.

Yelp
An amazing ranch that pretty much guarantees a good time when you take advantage of all the activities offered. Along with very comfortable rooms and great food, they offer trail rides, ATV adventures and wonderful concerts. Some of my happiness days have been spent here and I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a fun filled experience.

Yelp
My husband and I went on a cattle run over the weekend and had a great time. The owners really make you feel like family and we met wonderful people and made wonderful memories. The band was great too! Thanks for a good time. We will be going back!

Cathy W.

Yelp
My hubby and I just had the time of our lives on their First annual cattle drive! The rooms, ranch, barn and grounds are meticulously maintained and spotless! Not one detail has been overlooked! We were welcomed like old family friends and we felt so well cared for from the quant accommodations, to the meals, the awesome entertainment (shout out to John!!), and while logging miles and hours in the saddle! The horses were so well cared for....round and sound ...and we even had fresh cattle brought in just for us! We can't rave enough about our weekend at the Flying E Ranch! We will be back soon! Thank you Tamma and John and your terrific staff, from the dining room to the wranglers!!

Yelp
I used to love this place until the new ownership took over and made some unfortunate changes. During COVID-19, my friends and I had to cancel our April reservations. They've been going to the ranch for over 25 years. This would've been my 4th year. One of my friends got her refund back which was three times as much as mine. I had sent several emails to management only to keep getting put off. After a month and a half of email attempts, I decided to file a dispute with my credit card company. I let management know so they wouldn't be caught off guard and the reply I received back was extremely passive aggressive and unprofessional. I decided not to post it or name names. I understand small businesses are struggling. But I am an independent contractor who lost 90% of my income. I have a mother who has dementia that I send money to every month for food (I can't visit her because of this pandemic), a cat who is 20 years old who just cost me $200, plus all my other expenses I need to pay in order to stay above water. I am just scraping by so I am sorry that your horses will not have an adequate supply of food and medical care due to my request for my refund (as I was told.) Outside of this pandemic, I can't even begin to add up the countless rescue organizations I have donated to over the years, the years I spent volunteering at an animal shelter, the time I put into helping others with their four-legged friends when needed. I was extremely disheartened by the way management has handled this situation. Prior to this my friends and I talked of going back when this was all over and when it was safe to go. However I was told in that email not to return. Talk about losing even more money to help care and feed your horses. I forwarded the emails to the group I go with and they will not be returning either. That's thousands of dollars lost. Thousands (our group consists of around 10 people.) What a shame. It really is.

Lisa E.

Yelp
We felt like we were transported in time; everything about the Ranch was above and beyond our wildest dreams. The serene setting with barns and arenas in the distance; the smell and sound of horses in the vicinity. The welcoming grounds that had places to lounge, entertainment in every direction (want to take a dip in a hot tub, it's there, want to play life size chess, it's there too, want to sit inside and thumb through western books or play, the piano or a board game - it's all there too.) the dining room well an amazing staff, even the horse shoe door locks. Not to mention the horse riding!! The Wranglers, the office - everyone on site put a smile on our face and we are already want to go back.

Tee A.

Yelp
Worst bathroom ever. Ancient and poorly designed. Shower ark 2 ft low. Ridiculous. Modern amenities? There are no happy trails on this 3 day birthday only wasted tine money and no way to do anything but walk a tired horse for 2 hrs. At half the price it's no bargain. At full price you've can't be serious. Post you might deny a person who's been riding over 40 years because your the first riding ranch or academy or wrangler to pull that stunt of walking only. That's bordering on fraudulent from my view sweety. I have had better rides for $12 an hour. You need to post a warning on your site about first ride walking pace only. 2nd ride we will let you walk only. This is a walking fee for walking your horses that was sold constantly for 3 days like a used car salesman after you were informed over and over not interested in a 100% boring ride and I do mean boring. As far as trying to teach me where I can go. I can go on a trip to the Caribbean in JAMAICA for less money than I paid for a three day weekend. I don't need you're nonsensical excuses. You are advertising modern amenities from the 40's as you response. Please take that nonsense elsewhere. The riding was first problem bathroom next air conditioning next and tv next. The bed worked. Whoop see doo. One thing worked I guestbthat justifies the $380a night. Not in my life. I've stayed in old beTuo farms with better rooms

Alisa M.

Yelp
I was looking for a place where my 10 great friends and I could meet to celebrate my big 50th. I couldn't have picked a more perfect location. Amanda and Ande were amazing. They helped me coordinate all the special gifts for each girl in their room, they answered every phone call and email promptly, their prices are beyond reasonable... We had am amazing time. The girls kept saying how awesome the food was, how great Brandon the wrangler was, how Aaron took them on this special ride where they saw a ton of wild life... I felt very special and honored at the ranch and they went above and beyond to make me and my guests feel the same way. I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!

Jenny J.

Yelp
This is a beautiful ranch. We got tickets for dinner and Sons of the Pioneers concert. We loved the concert and enjoyed chatting with the owner Jim and all of his family. We will definitely stay here next time we come thru Wickenburg. Highly recommend you stay here too!

Yelp
My family just spent a weekend at the Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ.  The 12 of us ranged in age from 27 to 66.  Everyone had a wonderful time at the dude ranch. The service was impeccable. All the employees and volunteers were friendly, helpful and worked to be sure a great time was had by all. The accommodations were beautiful, wood-paneled rooms with many western touches. We shared a kitchenette with another room. But we never used the kitchenette because there was so much excellent food included. Besides 3 full meals, cookies, coffee and tea were always available. The was also a BYOB happy hour daily. We took a two hour horseback ride ($45 extra) each day. Though most of us had little or no riding experience, we all loved it. There was a square dance where we laughed so hard we cried, even those who had vowed not to dance! We played horseshoes, shuffleboard, swam in the heated pool, and soaked in the spa. There was a sauna and small gym. Four of the guys went off-road bike riding on great trails, while others took hikes. Wifi is available in spots, and rooms have tvs if you can't disconnect. The Flying E Dude Ranch is great for bonding or a reunion. Lasting memories were made. We will be back, next time with the grandkids!

Carolyn C.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this ranch. My sister and I wanted to reconnect and had been to two dude ranches as children. We searched for a small family-run ranch and we found exactly what we wanted. The Flying E Ranch feels exactly like the ranches from the 1960's (except for the hot tub and the ranch store). The place is charmingly decorated and there are many antiques and special touches such as photo albums featuring every guest. Most guests that we met had been there for multiple visits so that is a good recommendation in itself. The staff was charming and service was great. Everyone we met there was nice. There was a happy hour for adults every night which was fun. We are on a vegan diet right now and they accommodated us with perfect entrees at every meal. The desert is beautiful, good bird-watching, hiking, you can see the stars!, the horses were well-behaved, the wranglers took safety very seriously, even the elderly could ride there, you don't have to ride. There are rides twice a day, we did once a day. There are museums, mine tours, lots of day trips, and golf courses in the area. There were other activities such as square dancing!! which I couldn't believe we did but it was a blast. Team penning, lunch rides, etc. I think this is an excellent place for a reunion of family and friends. You can see your loved ones interacting with other people as everyone eats together. There is plenty for kids to do. I played ping pong with some kids. We also had a private kitchen with a fridge (shared with another room). They fill up well in advance so make your plans early. Really.

Yelp
Having just spend 3 days at the Flying E Ranch, I feel absolutely compelled to write this great review. The Flying E Ranch and staff just blew my expectations out of the water. I have never been to a dude ranch before, as it was never really at the top of my list of vacations. But when my family decided to get a group together, I decided "what the heck." As soon as we got there I could tell that this place really had it's act together. Firstly, I have a difficult diet to accommodate (gluten free and vegetarian). They said as long as we know in advance, we can accommodate... boy did they ever. They went completely out of their way to make sure I had custom-made meals, and I'm telling you... this is not a place that will let you go hungry. The ranch kept us well fed the entire time. The food was excellent, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. Meal time was also a fun time to get to know other guests. The horseback riding was beautiful and well organized. They make sure to put you on a horse that fits your level. If that is not your thing, there's lots of other things to do. Andi organized a square dance for us, which kept us all laughing and having fun. There are BYOB happy hours every night before dinner, where you can watch the desert sunset. The scenery and landscape is gorgeous - somewhat remote and very peaceful. There's also a pool/jacuzzi, life-sized chess board, shuffle board, basketball and tennis courts, and lots of hiking. You can basically just walk around and explore the ranch to your hearts' content. My dad and uncles brought mountain bikes and found plenty to explore on the bikes as well. I was nervous about going in February thinking it would be cold, but the weather was PERFECT! Not too hot in the day, and jacket-worthy at night but not extreme on either end. The rooms are nice and very clean. The TV only has basic channels, but if you are there to watch TV I don't know if this is the right place for you. There is WIFI in the main common rooms but not the bedrooms. I guess this isn't a trip for the "indoorsy" type even though the common areas are very nice and have wonderful views out the windows. I want to thank the Flying E for an extraordinary experience. I hope to get back there someday and relive these memories and create some more.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Our family just spent four days at the Flying E, and we can't say enough about the wonderful visit we had. We recommend this place hands-down! Couldn't have been better. Exceeded our family's expectations. Looking forward to our next visit!

M L.

Yelp
A treasure. We've been here 3 times and plan to come back again. Not a spa but a family oriented riding vacation destination. Generous meals, welcoming staff and plenty of space to relax.

Patty A.

Yelp
After researching dude ranches, I gathered 12 of my family and friends for a weekend long ranch experience. We choose the Flying E as it seemed best suited for us. The staff at the Flying E went out of their way to make our time at the ranch fun and entertaining. The other guests at the ranch were friendly as well. Food was great - service was great. Cookie jar was always full with a variety of yummies. The animals are beautiful and well cared for. I felt I was in good hands with the wrangling staff. After a ride, we enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi. I have not played horseshoes since my childhood days in Wisconsin! They also have themed weekends so if your interested, you should check out their event listing. The small city of Wickenburg is a historical gem and a trip into the city is also an interesting side trip. The evenings are so beautifully quiet. I never checked my e-mail and did not even carry my cell phone with me -- just did not want to be bothered as I was having too much fun. My husband and I laughed all the way home.

Yelp
I hit upon the idea of visiting a dude ranch while researching things to do on the way to the Grand Canyon. It was such a happy accident that my google searches turned up the Flying E. I'd never been to a dude ranch before and other than having watched City Slickers, I had no idea what to expect. You know it's got to be a consistently great place when you meet other guests who are returning for their 5th, 26th, and 35th trip to the ranch. I think we may have been the only guests who were there for the first time. It turned out to be the best vacation my family has had in years. My kids (8-, 10-, and 12-years old) agreed that this was much more fun than a trip to Disneyland. We decided to do the morning horse riding and in the afternoons we splashed around in the pool and then relaxed in the spa and sauna. The kids got to go free range, playing ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard and giant chess, and hanging with the owner's friendly dog. One night, we even got to hear some pretty great cowboy poetry and western music by two quite talented wranglers. This is definitely not a weight-loss vacation. Every meal was delicious. Breakfast is made to order and there are about 100 different possible combinations. There's a jar of homemade cookies next to the coffee pot that I couldn't say no to. Then there are appetizers during Happy Hour. Everyone on staff - the wranglers, the kitchen staff, the front desk, the chef - was very accommodating and friendly.

Yelp
If you are searching for the perfect place to have a special time with your family and friends and enjoy a western ranch experience, look no further than the Flying E in Wickenburg, AZ. Amanda's friendly efficiency makes the reservation, check-in and out process smooth and worry free. Between the immaculately kept grounds, the beautiful well cared for horses and the amenities provided, you will settle in and never want to leave. John and Tamma Murphy and their staff work as a well choreographed team to provide an all inclusive western getaway complete with horseback riding, gourmet meals and excellent personable customer service. After spending 3 Christmases here, it has become my preferred way to spend the holiday. Jeff, Ian, Crystal, Rae, and Jessica made all our mealtimes something to look forward to and appreciate, but, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners were over the top. The entertainment Christmas Eve this year with John Smith Presley was extremely enjoyable making for a well celebrated holiday. Santa showing up with a special gift for everyone added to the festivities. Aaron, Norm, Scott and Dillon... all the wranglers provide a safe environment for all skill levels... everyone from beginner to skilled riders. In between riding, you can enjoy the heated pool, sauna, play some ping pong or foosball, throw some horseshoes, hike to nearby Vulture Peak or sit back and relax in the lodge. Happy Hour in the saloon with adjoining patio is a great way to socialize with fellow guests and enjoy the amazing Arizona sunsets.

Yelp
If I could give Flying E Ranch more than five stars, I would. What a great experience for my 10 year old granddaughter and I. We stayed 2 nights and rode two days and we can't wait until we go back, and we will certainly go back. First, the hospitality. Starting with the welcome, to the meals, to the rides; I don't see how it could been any better. From everyone remembering our names, to the kitchen staff creating and serving wonderful meals, to the wranglers making us comfortable and confident in our rides, to the beautiful horses matched to our individual needs. I can not think of anything that the staff could have done differently to make our stay any better. And the meals. What great meals we had. Breakfast made to order, options for lunch and wonderful and creative dinners. No one goes hungry at Flying E. I especially liked the fact that the kitchen would prepare meals for special needs or diets. I also liked the "family style" meals where guests sat together and told tales of where they were from to how their day went or what they had planned for the day. And the facility. Rustic but not old, basic but not plain, relaxing but not boring and clean everywhere. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were just the right size. The dining area is like a little museum with pictures and other memorabilia from around the ranch and the area. Board and table games to play, if you can find the time, and a tv room with toys and movies if you have the inclination. And finally, what we were there to do - horseback ride. Again, great wranglers, not just local kids that know how to ride but professional wranglers that have been doing this for years and know how to make a ride comfortable, scenic, enjoyable and safe. I like that they also schedule the rides and groups based on the wants, needs and abilities of the riders not just a take it or leave it trail ride.. We researched ranches all over the west. We are glad we chose Flying E and would highly recommend this ranch if you are looking for a true western experience that you will not soon forget.
