This place was truly a treat. We were only in Chattanooga for the long weekend and were so glad we picked this place as one of our few dinner spots. The chefs truly do an incredible job perfecting each dish. They incorporate top-notch ingredients that pair together perfectly. I never expected a beet, grape, and Brussels sprout salad to be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, but it was. Their cocktails were also incredible - I’m typically more of a wine and beer person but their cocktails were too good to pass up on! Highly recommend.

Great outdoor patio seating. Dog friendly! Food was good! We got the spicy fries (not really spicy, their old truffle fries were better) roasted cauliflower (my favorite) noodles (my husbands favorite), and candy chicken (maybe we just got the end of a batch or something but lots of scrappy tough pieces of chicken, very few good meaty pieces) overall it was positive and I would dine there again and try some different dishes.

Google
10 out of 10 FLAVOR! Wow! Every time we come here our expectations are exceeded. We even brought our dog Harley and they gave her a water bowl. Everyone on staff knew her name just about and everyone was/is so friendly! Go try it out! The menus change based on the season. I got the airline chicken and it was phenomenal. The beet Brussel dish was also outstanding.

Google
First time in Chattanooga and our host at The Crash Pad (next door) recommended this place — it did not disappoint! The space is beautifully designed, a little dark but the wood and lighting make it feel warm and intimate for how spacious it is. The staff is friendly and the food was unique and high quality. We shared the Korean Candied Chicken and the Airline Chicken - they were totally different dishes with a lot of unique texture and flavor. Would definitely recommend!

Google
A delightful experience. Food is served "sharing style" and ordered on the menu from smallest portion to largest (so smart) Ceviche, beet salad and okonomiyaki all sounded familiar, but the chef's execution was surprising in all the right ways! Cocktail program was also interested. I prefer my drinks to be more alcohol forward, but these drinks were extremely balanced.

Google
Omg! Perfect for our 23rd anniversary. The atmosphere was very nice. The food was very beautiful and flavorful. Last but not least the desserts (omg!) best strawberry shortcake and carrot cake we’ve ever had. Our waitress Rachel was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. She deserves 5 stars for her smile.

Google
Cool spot. Interesting design. Excellent cocktail and beer menu. Food and service were outstanding. Ate here with wife and 3 kids on a brief stop in Chattanooga. Would recommend to visitors and locals alike.

Google
Super busy restaurant, you should make a reservation in advance. Their food was alright, not spectacular but not bad either. The filet was definitely tougher than it should be, despite being ordered medium rare. loved the miso glazed salmon, the best dish out there. They did attempt some Asian cuisine but the flavors (with pork belly) were a miss to me.

Yelp
I JUST POSTED THIS DRAFT and was nauseous when I found that this restaurant has shut down. Super disappointing and I am full of regret for not stopping by again sooner. RIP flying squirrel. After several years between my last visit, I finally got a reservation at Flying Squirrel again (every time I was in town, it was closed on the day I was available or SOME reason). And I am pissed that I waited so long to stop in again. Since my last visit 6+ years ago, I've been twice in the past couple years and loved every minute of each meal. In summer 2021, I stopped in for dinner after a visit to Play Wash Pint down the street. Pup friendly outdoors which is a huge plus! The servers are always super friendly and we loved our server who recommended a great gin cocktail for me. The menu is entirely seasonal and made with great fresh ingredients like the local trout, scallops and the heirloom tomato & corn salad. For brunch (in 2022) - there were a few Japanese fusion options - I loved the Karaage, and of course a classic beautiful lox and toast. The Flying Squirrel is one of my favorite restaurants in Chattanooga and I can't wait to stop by next time I'm in town!

Yelp
With its delicious cocktails, beautiful indoor & outdoor space, and friendly service, Flying Squirrel is certainly a favorite for my husband and I! I don't think I've had a bad cocktail here, and while I've only had the fries for food, which were so good & I'm sure the rest of their food menu doesn't disappoint. We'll keep coming back here as long as nothing changes!!

Yelp
I finally tried Flying Squirrel! Sadly I had one of the last brunches they will ever have. Sunday ended their brunch service. They want to devote themselves to a dinner menu. Understandable but sad because the food was outstanding. We had the brunch burger, rosemary fries and the cinnamon swirl pancakes. So much food we took home most of it and had if for dinner. Service was fantastic! I was offered a complementary coffee while waiting and we were checked on throughout our entire time there. Casual ambiance complements the experience. I will come back and try their dinner menu.

Yelp
This place was INSANE. In the best way possible... hands down one of the best places I have ever eaten at in Chattanooga. The food quality and taste were extraordinary. The prices for the food are also very reasonable for the amount and quality you are receiving. This restaurant is also just stunning all around. With a gorgeous interior and romantic patio, you can't go wrong with anywhere you choose to sit. And the staff was so beyond friendly!! She gave great recommendations and made my birthday extra special with the service she gave us. Please get one of everything from this menu, including desserts! I'm dreaming of the day I visit again! Oh and the drinks were also excellent!! Maybe don't get one of each though hahaa

Yelp
This is fusion food done right! The menu is lots of asian/mexican dishes but they all meld well. Definitely recommend sharing plates with the table. And order as you go!! We were so full after two "snacks" and one entree. The dining room is lovely, the outside porch would be great on a pretty day. A great option in Chattanooga! Only docking one star because our server felt a little rushed and left our table before we were done ordering at one point. Also, I think the menu could be edited to be better for tables that don't feel comfortable sharing plates.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Ok...wow. This is a top 10 of all time restaurants for me. For starters, One of the coolest looking buildings around. Architecture of this place is as creative as the chef who put this menu together. Outside seating was an awesome ambiance along with the patio and inside upstairs. All cool vibe no matter what pert of the restaurant you are in. Beautiful butcher block bar. Service was outstanding. Our server was incredible. With her thorough knowledge of the menu and beer list she was terrific. Now the food. We started with the blistered shishito peppers and fries. The peppers were magical and the fries were top notch. Moved onto a few more share plates. Ginger noodles and the baked cauliflower. Both were absolutely incredible. We wanted to order everything on the menu but our stomach's were bursting that this point. I'll need to make special trips to Chattanooga now to revisit this place. So refreshing to dine at a place that just gets it all so right. Well done Flying Squirrel! Well done!

Yelp
we were somehow able to get a reservation on the last day they were open. it was the best meal i've had in chatt and im so sad to not be able to experience it again. the ambiance is amazing and the food is soo good.

Hattie J.

Yelp
Came into town for a convention, and the Flying Squirrel was right by the hostel I was staying at. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night, so thankfully I had made a reservation! I ordered one of the seasonal cocktails(the firefly), brussel sprouts, and duck fried rice. The drink was lovely...well balanced and refreshing. The brussel sprouts were some of the best I've had. And while the duck fried rice wasn't very visually appealing (could have used some garnish or vegetables/color), the duck was delicious! Overall great meal... I just wish I had saved room for dessert!

Megan R.

Yelp
The flying squirrel is so freaking trendy and I loved the waitress we had. She was so great with recommendations and pairings. The inside is very sleek with all of the unique wooden sculptures and tables. And the sink in the bathroom was even cooler!! Me and my friend enjoyed a nice, beautifully flavored meal. We were a bit disappointed when our steak was chewy, however everything else on the plate was delicious! I came back another time for just a drink and I thoroughly enjoyed the mule I got! It was so fresh and it was easy to find a spot at the bar.

Win S.

Yelp
The Japanese salted salmon is a winner here! Wow, a stunner and so delicious!! Perfectly done with a light pistachio-crust and a side of roasted beets and fried brussel sprouts w/ a miso vinaigrette. My party also ordered the house-cut fries, beet, avocado and cucumber salad, mushroom pastor tacos and spicy Korean "candy" chicken. The prices are pretty steep, but this is a local, hipster spot with seemingly fresh ingredients. My mushroom tacos were on the too-sweet side (but I guess I can thank the pineapple for that) and it was over-sauced - why? It would've been great to let the mushroom flavor sing and produce a more umami flavor! The tortilla wasn't well cooked either. Thumbs down. Other than that, the candy chicken was addicting and the beet salad was light and nice. Points for vegan and gluten-free options, too! We sat outside in the covered area, so our furry puppers could join us for a meal (dog-friendly, yay!) The heaters kept us warm in the cool, autumn air. Thank goodness for the heaters! Get here early in the evening. Even on a school night, the restaurant gets really packed and you'll be vying for a good seat inside or by a heater. The waiters seemed to share services and helped one another out - so we were never lacking any service! They were all kind and helpful, as well!

Yelp
Short Version: for a possibly better experience, enjoy and try Dinner vs a Brunch. Long Version: Found F.S. via other reviews n excited to experience. ** Heads Up - as we didn't know ** Sunday is a very limited SIMPLE brunch menu ... easy to execute, right? Unfortunately, Nope. 1. Once sat upstairs, incredibly long wait time (evident by other tables around us n our own experience). 1a. Oh and... when the downstairs patio doors are endlessly left open... it's immediately a thousand humid degrees on 2nd level. Crazy to hear mumbled apologies from Server how hot and humid it was upstairs ... as the entire 2nd floor looked on like helpless pups in a locked car. 2. Unfortunately, could barely understand waiter who quietly mumbled thru a mask. 3. Ordered easy items only for them to arrive (n not arrive) at various times.. unsure when it's standard for French fries to arrive 30 minutes before simply plated burgers. 4. A few of us Ordered bunless burgers, but kitchen skipped all the other goods that were actually supposed to be on the burger. 5. Waiter MIA for 95% of our stay .. we hunted upstairs n downstairs for S&P, condiments n found someone to assist. While The House apology and the surprise slight discount was a kind gesture, Everything (with exception of welcome greeting upon arrival) was a TRAIN WRECK . . . . Chattanooga Chhoooo- Choo. Perhaps this was just an off day for establishment n Here's wishing The Flying Squirrel and future Patrons a much, much better experience.

Yelp
On a Saturday night at 5:30pm, it isn't too busy, but the tables fill up fast! The restaurant has a nice open feel even when you're seated on the second floor. We ordered drinks first since happy hour went until 7pm - both the cider and the sour we tried were good. The food is all shared plates and comes out whenever it's ready, not all at once. I can't recommend the charred peach and tomato pasta on the summer '23 menu enough!!! But don't sleep on the charred cauliflower either (I promise not everything on the menu is charred haha) - it was literally half a head or more of cauliflower. All the small details made this a great dining experience down to the little match box we got to take home.

Yelp
I came here for dinner yesterday with friends, and the food was quite good. The concept of ordering and sharing with the table took me by surprise, but it wasn't bad. I particularly enjoyed the Squash Fritters dish. The sauce was very good; I'd give the sauce alone a 10/10. I will say it is a bit pricey for the portions they offer and these not being "personal" dishes (although you can order a dish just for yourself).

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Dillan made some great suggestions. Delish Charred Peach & Tomato pasta and Odd Couple cocktail that took me back when I was a kid with the Fessenden of violets. Truffle house cut fries were yummy too!

Yelp
Great meal for 6 of us, while here for Half Ironman Chattanooga. Excellent menu, very large shareable plates. Roasted cauliflower very nice, Korean spicy chicken really good, large portion. Fries great, braised pork shoulder my husband had disappeared without sharing. Excellent suggestion from the friend of our son...

Yelp
Absolute home run. We were toasty under outdoor heaters on the patio with our dogs. Food was AMAZING. We had the spicy garlic fries AND the truffle fries. Both were great but if ordering one, spicy is the bomb. I am a Brussel sprouts nut and the miso spicy Brussels were the best ever. We also enjoyed hanger steak, ahi tuna tartar and ramen. I had to try the beet ginger lemon mocktail. It was so good that my 9 year stole and I was too busy eating to argue. Cool atmosphere and very friendly service.

Yelp
The food, ambiance and service all make this a good choice. One downside.. the playlists. Ugh. Old but lame R&b. If you don't like to eat food that comes out when ready, this isn't for you. I happen to like that. Enjoy the eclectic Latino versus Japanese inspired menu. Lots of great flavors. Interesting cocktail and wine last. And I really love the indoor outdoor vibe. This part of Chattanooga is really cool. Coming from a Jaded I don't really New Yorker!

Yelp
We had a three day weekend and decided to go to Chattanooga. After a pretty mediocre food experience it was really nice to find this place. The service, food, and ambiance were perfect. The food was AMAZING and the chicken special was a really nice surprise. We had a small mishap with a wing being undercooked but it was rectified so quickly we didn't have time to be upset. If we ever go back to Chattanooga this is at the top of our list.

Lexi M.

Yelp
Upscale and unique. Delicious and dank. Shwae and serene. I want to give a shout-out to Kyle, our waiter-in-training. The service was spectacular, we even had one of the hosts grab our corn on the cob with his bare hands to make room on our plates...that's dedication. All of our food was immaculately tasteful. And the outdoor seating made for a warm and peaceful dinner experience.

Dee H.

Yelp
The best small plates- tapas!! Such a casual hipster vibe..perfect location near station street. Lots of delicious vegetarian options.

Yelp
I don't get the hype here. Every list of where and what to do In Chattanooga list this restaurant, and so on my recent visit I knew I had to stop by. I had reservations and was seated at a high top table in between the bar and sit down booths. The table is long and narrow so you can't face each other only sit side by side; the chairs are uncomfortable; and the walking space itself is narrow around you so there's always a sense of someone walking by and being about to knock over your food or be too close during these times without a mask. The menu was uninspiring and disjointed. No clear story or connection among the options and not great protein options if you don't eat red meat. I ordered solids - Brussels, roasted squash and pasta, and salmon tartare. They were good and very affordable($10). However, I didn't need to go there to get those items done well. Drink menu also wasn't great some of the wines were supermarket brands. It may be more of a beer spot. I just went with a martini. Our service was also lackluster. We were barely checked on until it was time to pay, and the server made a borderline offensive joke about one of our names being foreign. Other reviews have menu items that looked great so may just have been an off day but I think there are better finds out there.

Yelp
Following our tour of the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery, we walked our way down to The Flying Squirrel for dinner that was open for both indoor and outdoor seating -- COVID-19 precautions were taken. The weather was perfect for sitting outside, so when we checked in our reservation, we chose a table with an umbrella and ordered drinks while looking at the current dinner menu. My lady ordered the Ms. Beauregard -- a gin-based drink with creme de violet, lavender, cucumber, and lemon, while I had the Watermelon Old Fashioned -- comprising of Chattanooga Whiskey Proof 91, angostura bitters, watermelon, and lemon. They were delicious drinks made by mixologists that know what they're doing. For dinner, I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, which was quite magical and really spoke to me in a way that's powerful and poignant, poignant and powerful. I savored each bite like it was my last, served on a bed of rice with broccoli. The scenery surrounding was lovely, between being in the middle of downtown Chattanooga, with the old hangar being used now for the indoor seating and the dog park that sits across the street from the restaurant. During the summer and fall, this place is the spot to go to dine and have drinks if you live in Chattanooga or passing through the area. They make tantalizing drinks and prepare delicious delights for dinner.

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my radar for a few months. I finally had the opportunity to patronize this business. My boyfriend, my sister and I dined at this restaurant on a Tuesday evening. The website suggested reservations, so I made one for us at 8pm. Location: this is located behind State of Confusion which is on the corner. There is a lot directly in front of the restaurant with limited parking spots. The gravel parking lot at the rear is for their sister business called The Crash Pad. The good stuff: This restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and just sexy. The architecture is best described as modern industrial. We were so impressed with the design of this building that we asked for the name of the architect: Thomas Palmer. In doing a google search, I discovered that this restaurant was awarded the national distinction as the "Best Designed Café and Bar" in 2015 by the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Trust me when I say it is a well deserved award. This place is stunning. Of the food items that I tried, the only one that was memorable for me was the grilled summer squash. The not so good: The service was meh. Initially our waiter seemed uncomfortable and rushed despite the fact that there were few patrons present. After observing the fact that both my sister and I were taking photos of everything, our servers attitude changed. I thought that was interesting. The food for the most part was disappointing. We had the chicken sandwich with fires, shrimp tacos, Parmesan truffle fries, and summer squash. My biggest issue was with the Parmesan truffle fries. I asked the waiter prior to ordering if the fires actually taste like truffle. He assured me that they did. When they arrived, I could not taste any truffle. They honestly were just ordinary fries. My boyfriend spoke up and advised our waiter that I said there was no truffle taste. He said that he had a fix for it and returned with truffle salt! I am almost 100% certain that they failed to add this salt to our order of fries. I wonder if an assumption was made that we were not familiar with what truffle tastes like, but I don't want to believe that is what happened. The chicken sandwich and tacos were good, just not great. I was expecting to be wowed. Although the food was a bit of a let down, I will try this place again. Next time I will order the salmon dish if it's still on the menu. If you have an opportunity to check this place out, please do so. Even if only to enjoy the aesthetics of the building!

Yelp
The old goat, C.P., and I ventured out on a Friday afternoon for a delicious looking pasta special, and we were not disappointed. This is far from our first time at the Flying Squirrel, and this place is a must. If you are looking for a tasty drink or visually stunning food this is your place. Atmosphere: This is a pet friendly restaurant with several outdoor seating options. I appreciate them having a covered outdoor area in case of weather. We sat on the grass section with the pup. Just across the street is a very cute lil dog park, so Charles Pierce was very excited the whole time :) The inside is modern cozy, and has a good vibe. Service: Our waitress was very accommodating with our seating requests. Another waiter came by and offered a water bowl for Charles P :). The service was very prompt and attentive. I have never had a bad experience here. Food: Finally, the most important part, the food. I follow the squirrel on IG and saw a delicious pasta dish that prompted this trip, and it was so so tasty, and pretty!! They have a squash goat cheese number that I will for sure dream of:). The old goat got general tso's chicken and we both enjoyed it. And of course, always get the fires ! Any style. If I was just getting a drink there I would still get the spicy garlic fries Also, I ordered the watermelon old fashioned. It really just tasted like a regular one, but a tasty regular one ;) Tip: Bring the pup! And for the love of life order the fries!

Yelp
Updating my review to knock off stars. We used to visit the Flying Squirrel weekly and always had a good experience (hence why we always came back). Admittedly we haven't been back since Covid hit, so I was super excited to revisit an old favorite. They scaled down the menu tremendously and I don't feel offered a variety of foods with the few dishes they offered. I went with the Japanese Chicken and my friend got the trout. My chicken had a very heavy tempura like breading and tested very greasy. The chicken itself must be a combo of white and dark (rib) meat because multiple pieces of mine was pinkish. I asked the server if that was normal and she had to double check and apparently it was. They were very chewy and lacked flavor. For $15 I was hoping for more. My friend's trout, while good, wasn't crispy and the skin was also very greasy. After we paid and tipped my friend asked to speak to the manager to see why they changed so much and his response was supply issues and the pandemic essentially. Both of those make sense, but if you're going to have to run with a limited menu, you need to ensure what you're putting out there is quality stuff. Tonight's dinner was not. He did say in the next few weeks there were changing it up with the season, so I have hope it'll get better because right now I don't see us returning or recommending it to friends for a while.

Yelp
Visiting Chattanooga over the weekend, I had so much hope for this hidden gem that turned out to be a dud. We do a lot of research for the great foods when visiting places, this one kept coming up over and over again, saw a youtube that had me sold. getting there shortly after they open to secure a walk in spot and not knowing if reservations were required. The hostess told us that there was one open booth available but has a reservation at 7:30 pm. Well it is not 5:30 pm when we got there, and the place was empty, really empty. and I am not going to be eating in a restaurant for 2 hours, instead, they gave us options for the bar or some picnic tables at the fr end of the building. we sat at the bar, inside the empty space. a few people came but it was not full when we left an hour later. the vibe of the place was trying to please the hipsters of the city, and not everyone that comes for good food. On to the food which was over salted and was just okay, defiantly not a place I would recommend or come back to. the bar tender and other servers were nice, and I did give a really good tip as always just because I been in their shoes and now can help out a little more. I travel a lot now days and eat at a lot cool places like this and this is not the worst, just that there is a need to re-tune a few things if they want business other than the local hipsters.

Yelp
A perfect summer night requires a few non-negotiables: a cozy al fresco table, cool white wine, and an offering of delicious and thoughtful produce-driven dishes, to name a few. Flying Squirrel delivered all that and more on my recent visit on a warm Sunday evening. Hidden in a quiet corner near Chattanooga's south side, Flying Squirrel offers an elevated, vegetarian-friendly menu and killer cocktail offerings served in an elegant, vaguely California-cool environment, making it one of the city's best. After settling in on their intimate patio, we ordered wine- a crisp Chardonnay for her, and a Summer Water rose cocktail for me. Dinner was a dazzling array of the freshest produce Tennessee has to offer transformed into creative and, above all, delicious tapa-style plates. We started with the neon and perfectly seasoned blistered shishitos that paired perfectly with the wine, followed by an Asian-inflected and mouthwatering Brussels sprout hash. We followed that up with crispy fries and a whole baked roasted cauliflower accented with chili crisp and toasted hazelnuts that melted in your mouth. However, the absolute standout was the elote. A simpler, lighter take on traditional elote, it featured the freshest summer corn carved straight from the cob, dressed in a slightly tangy aioli with queso fresco and a surprising but essential addition of spiced pecans. The perfect summer dish, it alone justifies a return visit. Laid-back but elevated vibes and a bright and fresh menu, Flying Squirrel makes for a perfect and dreamy summer evening unrivaled in Chattanooga.

Yelp
Brunch on the patio. The chicken grits bowl presented with Japanese Mayo delivered a unique sweetness and crunch not often found in a grits bowl. The poached egg was a nice surprise. Really enjoyed the smash burger and my taste of the chicken and waffles. Unique and Welcomed offering is chicken thighs instead of the more common breasts. Much tastier! Thanks

Amber A.

Yelp
Incredible place! Service, ambiance, food, drinks! All wonderful!! If you are in the area visit this place! Make sure to grab a reservation tho :) Great places like this fill up fast!

Yelp
Best beet salad ever ever! And I don't even like beets! The salmon is to die for! And the steak, heavenly. I can't recommend this place enough. Bartender was pretty great and he changed my drink when I changed my mind. Beautiful place, great service and awesome food

Chet G.

Yelp
Very poor bar service. Acted like a you were a nuisance to be served. As a local Chattanoogan, hopefully they don't treat everyone in this manner. Normally a great bar and experience.

FRANK F.

Yelp
This was an amazing restaurant experience we tried a few different small plates which weren't small at all the beet salad was our favorite it had fried grapes that gave it a flavor I've never experienced then a dish I thought was soup but it was steak avocado on like a pastry crust....awesome!! Also had a sesame chicken dish and grilled cauliflower all excellent our server also was great and very knowledgeable of the menu. Also great drink menu I had an Old Fashion that was perfect. I would recommend highly

Michael A.

Yelp
Wanted to check out one of the top rated restaurants in Chattanooga, and unfortunatly this place didn't live up to the hype. Started with the squash fritters, burnt, not sure why they would have let it leave the kitchen. Next tomato salad, actually enjoyed this one, came with fried okra. Lastly the shrimp and grits, way to spicy took away from any enjoyment.

Amy A.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, clever cocktails, great atmosphere! Cool outside space. Recommend reservation.

Yelp
Went for a late night snack. I ordered the carne Asada tacos. This came with 3 tacos with salsa verde sauce, radish, cilantro, avocado, onions , cotija and steak. Very good for a quick snack. The tacos are regular size. My husband ordered the falafel sandwich. It was delicious had pickled onions , tzatzki, tomato, lettuce and fries. The sauce was perfect . Very good sandwich. Overall very cute place we sat upstairs which has a more casual dining with sofas and chairs. The food is always good and our waiter was great!

Mae R.

Yelp
We came for brunch and everyone's food was so yummy! I had the Okonomiyaki and it was delicious and full of interesting flavors. Not to mention it fed me 3 times. The smash burgers were really delicious, but if this is going to be your meal we recommend getting the rosemary fries to accompany (fries are not included with the burger). We had the Korean candy chicken grits bowl, it was crispy, sweet, and filling. I dock a star here because a person in our group had disclosed a peanut allergy to the server before ordering the chicken grits bowl (which contains peanuts). She ordered it with no peanuts, the server wrote it down, and it was brought out with peanuts still. This is obviously dangerous and a concern. With that, I've had other experiences here with allergy riddled friends who did not have any issues. I would just ensure you're very explicit in your expectation for your food in regard to your allergy. We were also a bit disappointed because they had run dry of the cream cheese frosting for the cinnamon roll pancakes which altered the only sweet option on the menu. Not a huge deal and understandable with supply issues currently, but we would've liked to try the pancakes as chef had originally intended :). For those with parking anxiety like me, there is a limited amount of free street parking available. Beyond that, there is a pay lot right beside the restaurant. You may be able to find street parking closer to the neighborhood a few blocks walk away, but we ended up just parking in the pay lot for convenience.

Yelp
Came here for the cocktails and some vegan tacos for the health/environment conscientious in our party. We ended up also ordering some appetizers and desserts too. I honestly can't say which is best, the cocktails, the food or the service. We had such a fabulous experience here. The cocktails are innovative and yummy! I had the Kamisake cocktail made with vodka, aperol, nigori sake, simple syrup and fresh lime. It was just perfect, not too sweet and not too sour. I also tasted the Odd Couple cocktail with bourbon, gin, crème de violet, simple syrup and fresh lime. The aroma coming off this one was divine! The bottom less pit of a son ordered the marinated ahi tuna with cucumber, avocado, sesame, cronchy garlic, chili oil and lime. So good he ordered a second. This is where the great service comes in, even though it was past 9 (last call for food orders) they still let him get that order in. He would have ordered a third if he could have! The vegan mushroom tacos were a treat. See even vegan can taste good! Then we ordered the crème brulee and the carrot cake. Both were delicious but the carrot cake was a standout. Do not miss this if it is on the menu! Baked fresh and in personal sized cast iron skillet, it come out hot in the skillet! We loved this version because not only hadn't we seen it done this way before but it also wasn't overly sweet. It just had all those lovely spices like cinnamon and clove. This is a can't miss if you are visiting Chattanooga!

Yelp
Loved the vibes of this place, very laid back and peaceful. We were allowed to bring our puppy here (they even had water for him) and sit outside to enjoy our lovely drinks and truffle fries! We then ordered our entrées which we enjoyed immensely. The presentation was gorgeous and the taste very good! Will certainly be returning!

Yelp
Flying Squirrel is part-restaurant/part-bar. We tried it out for dinner this past Saturday. We arrived a few minutes before 7, and they had tables available, but asked us if we were okay sitting upstairs. We didn't why upstairs would be any different than downstairs, so we said sure. When we arrived upstairs, we figured out the difference. The tables and chairs were extremely low - it was definitely more of a bar/club seating situation than a restaurant set up. We were eating a full dinner, and it was really uncomfortable. I had to sit at the end of this lounge-y looking chair and basically bend over my plate to eat, since the table was so low. I think upstairs is fine for drinks, but I definitely wouldn't want to eat there again. My husband tried a shrimp curry (which was very good), my stepfather got the Reuben (which he liked), my mom got their veganized mushroom tacos (which she said were good), and I tried the steak and greens. The steak and greens was almost a great dish, but I couldn't taste a few of the ingredients listed on the menu (where was the promised Szechuan onion purée? I couldn't taste it!), the steak was definitely on the rare side (which I'm cool with, but you should be aware of if in case you prefer your steak a bit more done), and it was definitely a hard thing to eat while leaning over a low table. We tried a beer and a cocktail as well - both were good. The food overall was good. (I really appreciate that they offer a separate menu that explains what can be made vegetarian or vegan, since my mom - who lives in Chattanooga - is vegan.) But I really can't recommend eating dinner at the tables upstairs. It's an awkward set up for sure. Assuming I could get a table downstairs or outside next time, I'd be happy to eat at Flying Squirrel again.

Yelp
This place was phenomenal! There was a wait, but we got two seats at the bar. The bar was open to the street, so we had an amazing view. The cocktails were strong and inventive. We shared the Japanese fried chicken, and it was absolutely delicious! It was the perfect way to start our evening! Gorgeous architecture, super friendly staff and bartenders, and delicious food and drinks!

Yelp
Flying Squirrel was fantastic from start to finish! I highly recommend a reservation before going but from the appetizers, to the entrees, everything was so great that we had to go ahead and order dessert. Also, did I fail to mention that for the quality of food, this place was well within a budget and was fairly priced!

Yelp
I have been here twice for Sunday brunch. It's decent food. Breakfast burrito was ok, really big and filling. The sope de carne con huevo was really tasty. Good cocktails for Sunday brunch. I loved the sriracha Bloody Mary, it was very tasty. Best part are the waitresses. They are really good with their service and extremely personable. I enjoyed both of my visits here.

Yelp
I know the reviews are pretty high for this place so my review will be in the minority. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon for brunch but found a 45 minute wait. Not ideal when you have two children with you but, hey, the millennial reviews were great. After waiting ten minutes and hearing the hunger moans from the boys (there is no where to sit except the bar), we opted to take a "standing table" and get an appetizer while we waited. After looking at the menu, we decided to place our order. It took a while to track down the sole waiter in the bar area but when we did we ordered a Rueben, two BLTs and a falafel sandwich. Forty minutes later the food arrived then fifteen minutes into the meal a table became ready, which we declined. The food was good but not memorable enough for a high rating. I was hoping for a creative take on the dishes but the most we got was rosemary fries. The Rueben was meh. A couple of things that ARE pretty cool about this place are the upstairs and the live music, and the brunch special mimosas. I would try this place again but NOT on a peak Sunday or with kids.

Yelp
Delicious! Hubby and I went for brunch. I had the burrito and he had the chicken and waffles. The barbacoa in the burrito was sooo tasty! His waffle was the perfect texture and went great with the spiced chicken. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I was very pleasantly suprised here. At first I was a bit put off cuz of the lack of signage (im new here) then the menu seemed a bit "bougie". BUT, after ordering, we waited for crab balls, took a few extra minutes so we were comped that item. The miso glazed salmon my wife ordered and the spicy Korean chicken I had were both delicious! Staff was very attentive and took really good care of us. I was in the mood for some basic menu items, but the Squirrel hooked me up. We will be back!

Yelp
First time we've been here and that's a shame! We will definitely be back! Don't judge them by their name, or actually do that! The name is just the perfect example of the menu. No, they don't serve squirrel (do they? Lol) but their menu is great and varies from dish, in other words no two dishes are alike even the influences of each dish is deferent! Very exciting and delicious! The drinks and service were exceptional. The price point was great. The ambiance was wonderful. Like I said we've missed out for a long time and that's our loss but we will definitely be back!

Yelp
LOVED this restaurant. We had the steak and the salmon and two delicious cocktails. The street corn was phenomenal. A lovely vibe. I tried to go back the last time I was in Chattanooga - but they were closed. I can't recommend enough.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and lots of outdoor seating at this local spot. Dropped by for a quick Friday night dinner and only had to wait five mins to sit. The service was admittedly a little spotty. We saw our waitress a few times here and there, but never got water refilled and I ate pretty much my entire meal before we reminded her his had not arrived yet. The food however was yummy. I had the kale salad with salmon added and loved the citrus vinaigrette it came tossed it. The salmon was perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed his scallops with a corn salad. Finally and regrettably for our tummies, we also got spicy fries. They were delicious for sure, but my stomach hurt all night after haha!
