The online menu serves no justice compared to going in and catching the vibe. I wanted to order 3 different meals 😩 I don't know how I missed the mac n cheese grilled cheese sandwich but, that's what I ordered thankful that the employee sold me by simply giving me my choices. When I come back to visit this is for sure on my must-eat list. They have gluten-free opinions which works out as well for those who have celiac. Yes. I was very big backed eating this 😆 🤣

Walk My Dog

Google
An absolute home run! My daughter and I are just in town for a couple days during an across the country road trip (10,000+ miles) and found this place after an online search “where do locals eat”. This was one of the best finds. Food was fantastic, prices are very reasonable and the staff are amazing. We’d highly recommend this location for dining in or just one of the amazing baked goods. Thank you, Sam & Olivia

Google
Coffee was pretty strong - which I prefer and the biscuit on the breakfast sandwich was really delicious. So glad I came here as my first meal in NM. Warning- salsa has a bit of a kick to it !

Google
Bar none, the most amazing coconut cream pie. I just died and went to heaven. It’s incredibly creamy and light. The perfect amount of sweetness. So happy I chose this. And I also had a nice hot caramel dulce on a cold winter night to accompany my delicious dessert. It was a Friday night and they had some nice live entertainment. Not too loud, it was a pleasant place to hang out with friends. There were at least a dozen of us.

Google
Love the feel of this diner! Great service, great food, great desserts! River was super nice.

Crazy Spartan

Google
My kids and I got two green Chilli cheese burgers and fish and chips. The burger were pretty good except for a random piece of old lettuce on both burgers and the meat needed a bit more seasoning. The fish and chips were $20.00 and were a decent size. My daughter loved it. The fries were good and really fresh. Overall the food was really expensive. We spent a total of $55.00 for the food after tip and all. They got desert for another 16.00. So pretty expensive overall. The atmosphere is probably one of the best and my kids loved it more than most places. There was a guy that was serving us seemed upset but was actually really nice.

Google
This place is perfect on a late Sunday afternoon. I've been here when its busy and the line itself is 15-20minutes. This is perfect for a youth group, an elderly couple, or a solo book reader. I feel grateful for a few bussers during peak time of business. The place could use an annual deep clean though. I enjoyed the leisure Sunday dining-in for my son and I.

Everything was great. The staff was welcoming and the ambiance cool and cozy!

Yelp
We loved this place! The food was great, service was serve yourself (fine by us), but they were really nice and the vibe was cool. We went back twice in our 3 day visit.

Yelp
The last few times I've gone to the Flying Star on Central, I've noticed a decline in the quality of their food. The prices have always been pretty high here but the product was 'generally' worth the cost. Today though, not so much. First, they were out of the sandwich I usually order - which seems odd since it is a basic on their menu. So, I had a burger. $20 for not much and not all that good. But what made the experience poor was standing at the counter waiting for someone to provide a refill of a drink. The manager looked right at me standing there and moved past me to help someone else. For the $30 I spent in total I got substandard food and equally substandard service.

Yelp
The food was yummy but the price was a bit high. Was it worth the price I paid not really.

Yelp
Cashier was friendly and helpful. Restaurant kept very clean. Seating is a good combo of tables, booths, and soft lounge furniture - plus a couple of small metal tables outside. Parking is metered, but I was able to park in the shade on a side street (Tulane) for free. Huevos rancheros were pretty good. Eggs were cooked well, and the Xmas chile was on point. Did not like the papitas; weren't very crispy, and I like my breakfast potatoes to have a nice crunch. Got a slice of the (okay) carrot cake to go ($8.50 before tax - yeesh!), and I'd return to try the coffee...maybe the giant eclair.

Yelp
My SO and I met a friend for a Sunday breakfast before leaving town. Location was convenient (on Nob Hill). You do have to order at the counter, but they will bring the food to you. I enjoyed my chai and Ranch breakfast. This came with two eggs, two sausages with green chili, potatoes and toast. I normally like hash browns. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes, so didn't eat too much of those, but everything else was delicious! Someone came over to clear our plates as we finished our drinks and conversation. That was nice. I wasn't expecting that since we had to order at the counter. We found parking on the street, right in front of the restaurant and we didn't have to pay since it was a Sunday. Perfect! Nice place to get a good chai and breakfast.

Yelp
Loved this place! We planned to go to The Farmacy up the street which looked perfect - except for a 40 minute wait. This place down the street was excellent; great menu and fast service and the food was fresh and flavorful - our crew had French toast, some burritos, and huevos rancheros with Christmas chiles and the black bean relish---mmmmmmmm Go there!

Yelp
If I was only rating this place as a coffee shop it would be higher, their coffee and tea are fine and I wouldn't hesitate to stop in for that. But for food, they're just not worth what they charge and the service is not good enough to make up the difference. It's not a bad place to eat but there's so many better options in the area. Keep an eye on their specials, sometimes those are a good deal.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! I've had an omelet, the Buddha bowl, the espresso truffle brownie, and cold brew coffee here and it was all excellent. The seating area is nice and pleasant to spend time in. No complaints with service, both in person and take out.

Yelp
I've loved this place since it was double rainbow bakery. Everything is scratch made in house so fantastic. Trendy atmosphere, WiFi hot spot. Good study place it's an order at the counter we bring it out place and service is usually spot on!
google avatar

Yelp
No. I'm more than happy to pay top dollar for good food. This is very expensive for subpar crap, reeks of greed. My entire family always suggests we go here, and little by little they've all been turned off by it. So many great spots, don't waste your time and money here.

Yelp
Loved this place!! This is also on the Main Street so parking was a little bit of a hassle. We went there as a party of 6+ a baby! We got drinks and that got out to us pretty quickly! We all ordered different options such as breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, scrambled, 2 ppl ordered omelettes. Everything came out tougher but took a moment to get to us. Seating was good but you have to find your own table ( so first come first serve) and thank goodness there was a big group that left, and we swooped in for the table! They had a good arrangement of desserts, goodies, beverages, etc. coffees were all good. I got my standard white choc mocha- and it was pretty good! It is very busy and noisy, so this would be like an early morning brunch type of place, very causal.

Yelp
This was one of the recommended places to grab lunch from a local. There was a nice relatively quiet vibe to the place. There was lots of seating, and students from UNM scattered about appearing to work of assignments. The menu is relatively small and there is a counter up front full of cakes and other sweets. They also sell several types of coffees. We ordered the Make Your Own Omelette and the Fish & Chips. Both were very good. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. The service was also quite good.

Yelp
Friendly place where you order at the counter and then seat yourself. I loved my tofu tacos and the vegan chocolate cake was AMAZING- my non vegan friends said you couldn't tell it was vegan.
google avatar

Swati B.

Yelp
Huge portions and great seasonal choices. Unfortunately, they were out of a few of the ingredients that were in some of the dishes I wanted to try, but we ended up getting pozole, their cauliflower wings (which were delicious), and I had the southwest eggs Benedict with turkey sausage and the chili queso. It definitely had a kick and they served the queso with a heavy hand. It was my first time visiting this location, but it was nice and cozy, and we'll definitely come back.

Yelp
This was recommended to me by a friend that grew up in Albuquerque! The soup was just what I needed to warm up from a long flight over. The latte was good for my drive out into the desert. I ended my lunch with a pumpkin/pecan mash up cheesecake that was phenomenal. I only give 4 stars because the food was okay, but the baked goods (it is a bakery!!) were amazing. If you have a sweet tooth and are in Albuquerque I highly recommend. It's a nice place with walk up service to sit down and work. There were lots of people with laptops out working!

Yelp
It's been too many years since I've been back to ABQ and you know, once you've had the Grabburrito you will never stop thinking about when you will be able to indulge again. So glad to be back! This place never disappoints.

Yelp
If you're going to advertise "breakfast all day," you should probably learn how to cook eggs. My omelette was cold when it arrived and it came out about 10 minutes before my meal companions entree. His was hot and freshly cooked. This isn't the first time this location has messed up an order. I won't eat at Flying Star Nob Hill again. I've never had any issues at any of the other Flying Star locations. Why can't this location get it right?

Alan B.

Yelp
(1) hair on the bagel and another in the potatoes. Staff was friendly, I liked the feel and the food was good. They took the plate away when we noticed the first hair and we didn't find the second until the end. Not one to write a review, but the weren't from the same cook. Not acceptable.

Yelp
The service at this Flying Star location was exceptional! The staff here went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable! I am a young woman who came out to have dinner. I was sitting alone when a middle aged man approached me asking for money. I told him I didn't have any cash, he told me he needed help getting home, then proceeded to ask me if he could sit down with me at my table. I told him sorry no and that I was waiting for somebody (because I didn't want him to know that I was alone). The man stepped a little closer toward me, mumbling something, and at this point I was starting to feel a little nervous. Suddenly, the manager and a server walked up to the man and kindly asked him to leave. The manager then asked if I was okay and I told him yes, and thank you! Honestly, the man asking for money had not even been at my table for 5 minutes, and the staff still noticed immediately! It made me feel so much better, seeing that the staff here were looking out for me, noticed when I was feeling uncomfortable, then proceeded to intercede by asking the man to please leave. They helped me feel safe and cared for! You can definitely tell that the employees here put in a lot of work and care to create a nice, comfortable, clean, and enjoyable environment for their guests! Besides the amazing service, I ordered the 'Fish Dish' which was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend it, along with the 'Red Stuff' refresher beverage. Thank you guys for the amazing service and food!

Yelp
Food was great, we had the French dip, poblano burger, French toast, kids mac and cheese, kids chicken tenders. The tenders were the only thing we would not get again. We also split the cherry and strawberry rhubarb pie. The strawberry pie was the star of the show. The food took some time to get out. Good stuff

Yelp
This is a GREAT PLACE!!! Food is excellent!! Staff are sweethearts... everything is made to order and it's delicious!! I had the avocado toast and others in my group had chicken sandwich & Verano salad with chipotle dressing!! Both said they were excellent!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I had the southwest eggs Benny and a slice of the praline cheesecake. Amazing. I will have to take visitors here when they come to town because this is one of the best spots I have tried in Albuquerque.

Yelp
When I first moved to ABQ about 12 years ago, Flying Star was fantastic and was my go-to. After a few years, it simply was not as good anymore. The food was disappointing and the staff was not pleasant. I have visited a few times each year over the past 6, hoping it would improve. It never has. But, while visiting town today, I tried again. Sadly, it was worse than ever. The gentleman on expo - who I assumed was the manager based on the color of his shirt - had a terrible attitude. It was if having customers was just too irritating to endure. I gave my order to a girl at the counter who did not write anything down and did not have access to a register. When the register was free, the manager was there. I had to repeat my order - again and again and again. He appeared to have trouble listening and/or comprehending what I was saying and kept thinking he knew what I wanted, which he did not. When I received my order, it was not correct. I asked for no green onion in the egg salad but it was in there. Of course, then I remembered I asked that of the girl who took my order. Okay, my mistake for not repeating that request to the manager. I did, however, ask him a couple of times for ranch dressing and had to ask again once I received my order and it was not in the bag. So, overall, a terrible experience. I will not be giving them another chance.

Yelp
1st of all the computer asked for a tip before any Service is rendered, Then I paid twenty dollars For fish and chips with two pieces of fish that were tiny. When the person brings it out they had no silverware. I had to get-up-and-get my own silverware,. But I did not get my tip back or even half of it I can't believe these guys are asking for a tip before Anything is even done the tip is supposed to come after Git the F outa here

Yelp
Stopped in for a sweet with the family. Everything looked decadent and delicious. I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake which was amazing! The staff was great and friendly. This location was clean and just busy enough. Seems like a good place to go for their bottomless cup of copy and some studying or reading.

Jedidiah H.

Yelp
Y'all I used to think flying star was so great! But our experience today probably means I'll never come back. Me and my husband both ordered coffees, he got the large I got the medium. In the picture below you can judge for yourself if the price difference balances out with the size difference +ice. When our French toast came out it was SWIMMING in their browns sugar sauce. The French toast was burned and tasted as such. And the brown sugar sauce just tasted like nasty banana. We ended up asking for a refund from the manager because neither of us ate more than a few bites of our food. The manager could not find our orders on the system even though he was going through all of his baristas register numbers. Instead he told us he could print the receipt later and the refund will just take a little longer.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Ordered the pintos as a side with my sandwich and did not not receive them on my Door Dash order. It's extremely frustrating to pay for food and not receive it.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Was in line behind a couple customers that were assisted immediately. I stood there for a good few minutes while every employee ignored. Unsure of why. One employee went to chat with her friends sitting at the end of the counter. The other 2 did "busy work" until I walked away. I wanted to buy a piece of my girlfriends favorite pie as she was having a bad day, they didn't give me the option to try and cheer her up as they didn't assist me in any manner.

Yelp
I did my first time online order, and got a free dessert! We ordered car-side pick-up and they knew exactly which car to bring our meals to. They used recycled plastic which is recyclable so we felt good about the earth. You also get to select "no utensils" so there is no waste. The employee was kind, fast, and there was minimal contact because you can pay and tip online before heading out. Onto the food: AMAZING!!! I got the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries. I love this rustic twist on a childhood favorite. Fresh bread (baguette) bread, sharp cheddar cheese, perfect melt. The sweet potato fries, you pay a little more for, but it's totally worth it. Sweet, salty, and still warm & crunchy. I usually get the "crave" salad, but I was in the mood to carb-load. I'm glad I did because I usually do not deviate from my orders. The boyfriend got the "California Melt" which was vegetarian as well, with the regular fries. His looked so good!!! Sautéed mushrooms, avocado, Swiss cheese, on that same fresh baked bread/toast. We shared the "pineapple falling-up cake" and it was soft, moist, sweet, with fresh pineapple baked right on, with a cherry to top! Unfortunately, we didn't get a photo of the cake because we ate it after dinner and totally spaced. But the rest of it was just as photogenic as it was delicious. There are vegetarian options, vegan options, gluten-free options, meat options, and the list goes on-and-on. Low key: The only other meal I've had besides the "crave" salad here was the "Ranchers Melt" which is like a French-dip but with green chile on top & horseradish (I spared the radish and asked for the au jus anyway) and this was also a UNM favorite of mine many-many-moons ago. 10/10 recommend this and other locations. THAT is something I appreciate about this company: they are consistent between locations so you don't have to fear finding only one spot, you can enjoy them all.

Yelp
Delicious salads and sandwiches, portions are huge and it's in a pretty cool place. I have been meaning to try it out, glad I did.

Thomas P.

Yelp
I ordered the Pilgrim's Feast for two. The portion sizes were generous but the turkey was undercooked and tasteless and the dressing and gravy were barely edible. Both my friend and I ended up throwing out more than half our food. At $21 per person, I expected much more quality. I will never visit or order food from Flying Star again

Claudia D.

Yelp
The fish dish was cold so I sent it back and the second time around it was very dry . I will not be returning

Gloria C.

Yelp
The Wifi of all these Flying Stars sucks. I will not recommend to anyone that needs internet. The speed test is 1.5, not strong enough to checxk the email

Michael S.

Yelp
Sent requested email Tuesday morning. I have not received a response Please advise
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Food is high quality and service is excellent! I had a muffin and thought it was not as fresh as I imagined it so they let me choose something else to replace without any hassle at all. I also had the oatmeal and burrito. Those were very tasty. I definitely recommend this place.

Earl M.

Yelp
Really tired of checking no utensils and getting sent a butt load of unwanted plastic. Every Time
google avatar

Jorge M.

Yelp
The food was great. Came at a reasonable time. Dessert was amazing. Calm / big open atmosphere.

Erin P.

Yelp
I ordered the Hidden Treasure which is normally delicious. I did ask for extra sauce but there is so much sauce that it's like a soup. It's also missing the chicken. Very disappointed, as this is basically inedible. It also came with the sauce spilling out of the sides. I didn't realize the issue until I got home over 40 minutes away. So disappointing as I had spent all day in the NICU with my baby and was looking forward to a good meal. Unfortunately this will go to waste. I basically got a to go container with sauce and a side of rice and a couple veggies.

Yelp
Food hasn't even arrived to my table and I just felt compelled to write my impressions. Ordered two eggs sausage and potatoes coffee and OJ $20... You carry your own stuff to the tables. Get your own cream and sugar. I don't care how good the food is I am a one and done. Heck I'm not even sure I am getting toast as she didn't ask me. Update: they give you whatever toast unless YOU ask. AND THEY FRIGHING DEEP FRY THE POTATOES and they are terrible...such a cop out. Eggs over cooked. Never saw a server. I hate feeling ripped off and that's exactly how I feel. Too bad Kaps is closed on Wednesday at least they take care of you for a fair price.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a casual dinner, drink, and dessert while visiting from out of town. We LOVED the '90s coffeehouse vibe and social experience. It's so rare to find a place like this these days. The cazuela (seasonal menu) was fantastic, and so were the desserts. The only problem was you could tell none of the staff had been around very long and it seems like management doesn't seem to invest in their long-term growth. We had a bunch of minor problems and confusion around ordering that could easily be avoided if management cued workers to be savvy about workflow and build up skills that are useful for any workplace.
google avatar

Whitnie O.

Yelp
As Flying Star Cafes go this is a nice one. Same menu of course. I have had great service here and they make a great London Fog. This is a big location lots of places to study and you do see a large collage crowd at this location. So if you need a study spot with good food and caffeinated beverages this is a good one. This location can also get really loud when it is busy so think about that when you are planing to stop in.
google avatar

jason s.

Yelp
I was so happy to see that there was a solid vegan option for vegan street tacos and that they serve breakfast all day. Coffee was solid and it looks like their desserts were fantastic as well with one vegan option there too. Staff was friendly and I really liked the interior.
google avatar

Yelp
When I first heard about this restaurant I was told it was like a New Mexican Panera Bread. It was not like Panera, but the food did not disappoint! While the staff seemed disorganized when bringing our food to the table we were a large group and had many orders to fulfill. Overall the food was fresh and everyone enjoyed their meal. The facilities were clean and the interior was very nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others visiting the ABQ area.

Yelp
The owners must have lost their minds. The prices haven't changed, but the portions sure have! My husband and I are now consistently disappointed in the food and serving sizes, some of which are HALF the size they were just a year ago. The "mountain of fries" is a meager handful at best, the salads are now pathetic (and in the same non-eco-friendly To Go containers as before, making it very obvious that they contain FAR less than they used to), and the greens are wilted and off-color. Just what I want when I order a salad: a scoop of sad, yellowed greens turned to slop from too much dressing and the "crunchy" wontons soaked as if they were marinated overnight. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but now I look forward to someone else renting the space and providing consistent products and services. My husband's sandwich has incorrect ingredients, some of which were not listed after the item on the menu, which is not only bad service, it's dangerous for people with allergies! The server neglected to ask if it was for there or to go, and then failed to tell the kitchen our order was to go, so first the food was brought out on plates and then it was taken back to the kitchen to be packaged--and when they did, I ended up with even LESS fries than were on the plate! TL;DR: Prices high, experience low. Another Albuquerque business to avoid.

Yelp
Our second choice for brunch since our first choice had a very long wait. Process: Ordered at the counter, get a table #, then find a table. The counter lady was very nice and patient with us as we were not sure what to order. Avo toast for myself and daughter. French toast for my boy. Turkey sandwich for the Hubbie. Service was great and fast! Walked out with full, happy bellies!

Ryan P.

Yelp
Long wait for food. There must be some disconnect in the kitchen. Oatmeal was cold, sandwich and sweet potato fries were cold. Only hot item was daughter's chicken fingers and fries. Disappointing for price paid. Also unfortunately service is basically non-existent. No one ever came by to inquire how meal was. I believe part of the service piece is due to the tip being provided when prepaying for food so there is no insensitive to provide good service. Overall disappointing.

Yelp
Flying star is one of my favorite coffee joints... And then I made time to actually eat there. I had the hamburger and added blue cheese because..well..I'm disgusting. I like stinky cheese! Anywho....that was great, cooked well and delicious..and my friend had Jevos, quevooos...wevos...oh: "Huevos Rancheros"... We had a blast because it's us..but I did notice a large bead of sweat travelling from the back of my knee down into my ankle boot. With that being said, if it's gonna be summer, I think y'all should have the central air properly serviced. But thank you still. Nice ambiance and great food..fast service too. K, love ya bye.

Lauri S.

Yelp
I have been going to Flying Star literally since it has been around even prior to the current name. I have always felt it was a bit pricey but the food was good. I went yesterday to the location on Wyoming & Paseo. I paid almost $33.00 for a horribly dry turkey club a few fries, an oatmeal and 2 drinks. I will NEVER return to your restaurant again. You have continued to raise your prices and the quality has continued to decline.
google avatar

Andrea F.

Yelp
It is fine, I guess. Nothing spectacular and with the prices of everything it should be. You could get much better food for the price.
