I visited Finial Restaurant after discovering it through the Michelin Guide, which naturally set high expectations, especially since the restaurant specializes in traditional local dishes.
Overall, the experience was average and inconsistent, mainly due to service and organization issues rather than the food itself.
The biggest issue was the long waiting time. We waited for more than an hour and a half. During this entire period, we were standing in the waiting area directly in front of the staff member responsible, Samantha. We repeatedly asked about our turn and were told it would be “soon.”
However, we clearly noticed other guests being seated without waiting, skipping the line with her support. When we later asked about our turn, she claimed that we had missed it because we were not present, despite the fact that we were standing directly in front of her the entire time and were never contacted. This lack of honesty and poor queue management is completely unacceptable for a restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide.
When we were finally seated, we were initially given a poor table near the entrance. Fortunately, a staff member named Gopi stepped in and kindly arranged a better table for us, which improved the experience slightly.
On a positive note, the food was excellent. We ordered:
• Mozzarella Eggs
• Luhsa
• Balaleet
• Karak
• Plain bread
• Saffron bread
All dishes were delicious, and each dish was sufficient for two people. The saffron bread was outstanding, and I honestly wished we had ordered more of it. The karak is a must-have at this restaurant and is prepared in a unique and distinctive way.
The prices are reasonable and fair for the quality of food and the restaurant’s reputation, but not acceptable considering the way Samantha handled the service.
Conclusion:
I would visit again because of the food quality, but the restaurant seriously needs to review its service standards and waiting management, especially for a Michelin Guide–listed establishment.
