Folliero's Italian Food and Pizza

Ordered the pollo alla parmigiana with tomato sauce and penne pasta. It arrived with hidden beef under the cheese, in the sauce and caked on the chicken. There was no mention of this on the menu. The waiter said "ah you should have told me". Was there some reason I should be saying "hold the secret beef on my chicken"? I do not consume cows. So I did not eat. They offered me no fix for this or discounted price. The total was $16.45.

Folliero’s, one of the best, “ole school” Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. Shop clean, plenty of men working , which makes the service great great! Everything made from scratch, like grandma‘s kitchen when I was a little boy, lasagna, pizza, salad, garlic bread everything that we have is excellent-simply delicious 😊-🤗-🇺🇸- Solid five stars ⭐️

A friend recommended this place so we were in the area and decided to give it a try. Service was great, very attentive. The food arrived promptly, hot and tasty. My wife and I enjoyed the side salad with mozzarella (mandatory), lasagna, and a pizza.

Follerio's is a Highland Park classic. That being said I've only eaten here like 3 or 4 times in all my 27 years of living in HLP. Nevertheless it's always been a solid place to bring the family, friends or to go on a date. We ordered 4 pizzas for a group of 12 and it was more than enough. We got the deluxe and pepperoni and it was very floppy and greasy. That being said it was good and had lots of flavor. I've also heard that they have really good pastas so I'll have to try them some other time. Likewise I saw a dessert that had pistachio, chocolate and something else that looked interesting. Will have to remember to get that for next time. Overall it's an affordable place to eat, a local staple and a great place to spend time with family or friends. Highly recommend.

Classic old school pasta and pizza place. Old vibes. Nothing fancy but really solid (except for the garlic bread). Pizza looked great. Will definitely be back to try.

My family has been coming here for about 50 years! The food is great and the staff will treat you well. They used to be cash only but recently upgraded and ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS now. It is a small restaurant and gets very busy so be prepared to wait a bit. Sometimes service may be a bit slow but I feel it's worth it to be patient. The XL pizzas are a steal! Huge, hot, fresh and soft crust that you'll want to finish. The meatballs and spaghetti is a classic you can't go wrong with. The sandwiches are super fresh. Oh parking can be a bit of a hassle as well. Paid parking is in back of the restaurant or you can park across the street at the bank after it closes.

Nice and cozy atmosphere, waited for an hour and a half to be seated. The staff was very attentive, and after seating us towards the back, do to occupancy, they offered us a new table in a more favorable spot. We ordered the following a pizza( well done flavorful), spaghetti with meat sauce(tasted fresh and sauce was fantastic) the cheese garlic bread( Great appetizer goes well with the spaghetti), the lemon chicken pasta( the chicken was delicious the pasta and sauce were average), the meatballs in red sauce were my favorite. The food was good. What I found amazing is that this place feels like you're having dinner at home with friends. The price was jaw-dropping for the quality of food and service you get. It's definitely affordable, I spent $57 for 5 people! Yeah, it's worth the wait and allows you to leave a very nice tip for the staff. Which is how it should be. Loved the place, I would definitely recommend it to anyone out their looking for an affordable, friendly dining experience.

Just googled pizza and found this gem. Authentic oven pizza. The staff are gentle and the smell in here is amazing. Definitely saving it as one of my favorites.

Small little Italian restaurant with a very struggling AC system. We went there a few weeks ago when we had that horrible heat wave in hopes of enjoying a bite and some AC. Let's just say it was cooler outside. Now the place is clean, service good and prices were fair. Ny bf ordered a pizza and spaghetti and I opted for what I thought was caprese on toasted warm bread. It was warm, but a very interesting item and extremely flavor lacking. Definitely not ordering that again. So the place is quaint, but not my favorite. Either way, good service.. just stay away on hit days!

Pains me to do it, but Folliero's - pick up your phone! Be aware, on some nights (depending on who's working the phone) - there's a solid chance they'll disconnect the phone after 6pm or so. I want to support a fam-run business, but literally can't if they hang-up or make it impossible to call in.

I had a mixed experience here at Folliero's. The staff was nice and attentive but that was the only exceptional part of the experience. No one bothered to let us know it was cash only. There's no sign displayed or warning on the menu either. The best part? There's no ATM in the restaurant so after eating you'll have to rush across the street and back to pay. Food: the cheese ravioli was good but nothing worth coming back for mushrooms were fresh 4/5. Spaghetti is decent, but has a weird kind of taste. The sauce wasn't very flavorful 3/5. Garlic bread was okay 3/5

Old school since 1968. We have a few hit and misses here. The spaghetti with marinara sauce is too watery but the taste was good. The regular meat marinara sauce was a lot thicker. The small pizza with mushroom was New York style with a thin crust and was very good and the dough was perfect. It's not the best food but for the low prices they offer it's worth five stars.

Came here after the USC game today with my in laws who grew up in the area. This place is a gem. I got a side of meatballs and a small pizza. The meatballs were absolute fire! The sauce is bomb and the meat is flavorful. The pizza was also very good! It can get a little packed but the decor and the vibe inside is immaculate. If you find yourself in the area definitely try it out. My mother in law asked me to post that the eggplant parm is her go to haha

This small, spot in Highland Park is good for those on a budget, but the food isn't great. My spaghetti and meatballs were watery, and the sauce was thin and bland. The service was good--staff was friendly and quick. It's fine if you just need a cheap meal, but it's not authentic Italian.

After visiting my mom at the Montecito Heights Healthcare center my wife and I were hungry and craving for pizza. Then I did my research on my Yelp I found a great pizza place on Figueroa St couple minutes away from center. This part of stretch of Figueroa St is know as restaurants row tons of restaurants on the Figueroa St. I told my wife let's go Folliero"s Italian food and pizza we headed there. We park behind the restaurant this night is busy night for all the restaurants on Figueroa St. We step and waited then they called my name our table was ready then waiter hand us the menu then we saw in saw print it's CASH ONLY then I went across the street at the liquor store to get cash at a ATM. Just came on the right time my wife started to order. We agree to order before I left to get cash,we ordered the antipasto,lasagna,garlic bread and the pizza we ordered the Margherita pizza the classic pizza. First they brought the antipasto and garlic bread we grab some of antipasto amazing antipasto great flavors like the cheese especially it have fresh mozzarella in the antipasto The ham and salami were very good and add flavor to the salad we enjoy the antipasto. The garlic was good and then they brought the lasagna we both share the meal and the lasagna was incredible good great flavors in sauce and cheese was good and cheesy and stretchable it was a heartily meal we both enjoy the lasagna. Finally the Margherita pizza we both grab a slice one bit we feel we were in New York and have an incredible pizza we know how New York style pizza are we love. The staff are very friendly always a smile. We need to come back again and try different items.

Love Folliero's! I've been coming here for many, many years and it is always delicious and so affordable. The Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich is my go to, also love the wood fired pizza. Simple delicious dining in a very sweet atmosphere. The waiters have been around for years and speak both Spanish and Italian. It's a sweet spot in the neighborhood that hasn't changed and feels authentic.

The pastas look good, but we only tried the pizza. The sauce is flavorful and lightly applied to the pizzas. The crust is light and chewy with a flour dusted bottom. The toppings are a good ratio to the pizza and they are generous with the mozzarella cheese. I am getting hungry thinking about Folliero's pizzas! I love classic Italian American red-sauce joints such as Folliero's . Happy vibes and good food. The seasoned staff are very welcoming; a casual yet charming environment. *Cash only.

The food is fabulous and the staff very friendly. And now that they accept credit cards, it's even more fabulous.

Wish this spot was closer to me so I could come more often! Waited about 3 minutes on a Saturday night to be seated and the gentleman who took our order was kind and gave me a recommendation since I was indecisive about which sauce I wanted. For everything we ordered, we were pleased, with full bellies. 2 glasses of house wine, spaghetti with clams, spaghetti and chicken, salad, and extra bread... could not beat the price and the quality of food. Looking forward to trying the pizza next time I'm in town.

They take CREDIT CARDS NOW! Always loved the food, but now they take credit cards. Try the chicken parmigiana. We get that and the pizza and take leftovers home. Both fantastic.

This is your classic pizza joint. You can feel the history in its beautiful brick walls (it's apparently one of the oldest establishments in Highland Park!), the tiled counter, and the experienced staff who takes care of you. My family tried the sausage and veggie pizza, pepperoni pizza, the caprese salad, and a side of homemade meatballs. Everything was tasty and solid. Their meatballs were incredible, and the crust on the pizza is so good! Next time, I will try their pasta which had my mouth watering whenever I saw someone's dish being delivered to their table.

This place is garbage. Ordered the margarita pizza and lasagna and it was disappointing. This is the type of place that locals go to because there's nothing else around. FYI, this place was recommended to me by a local. Best thing about this place was the bolillo with butter, I mean the garlic bread!!

The customer service wasnt good at all. They made us feel rushed. The Pizza was alright. I didnt like the oil, but I did like the garlic pieces in the pizza. The Garlic bread was dry and didnt taste like garlic. I wont be back

Loved our pizza and anti pasta salad. Service is friendly, and checking up to the diners needs. Portions generous and very responsive prices too. CASH ONLY.... parking in back as well as an entrance. Won't be our last trip!!! Arrived around 5 p.m. and in 15 all the tables were filled. Lots of locals frequent this eatery.

This unassuming Italian restaurant is now one of my favorites. Not only is the food extremely well priced but the food is delicious! Have you seen a place fill up your wine glasses to the brim like this in LA?? I have never! Be aware that this is cash only. Not a huge place, but it definitely packs a punch and holds its own as a highland park staple!!! The food is good, but for the price it's exceptional!!!! Rare to find affordable Italian restaurants and this is absolutely one of them. What really makes the place though is the service too, all the employees are so kind and welcoming.

This place was so fire. Every single thing we ordered was great and this is coming from someone who doesn't have Italian food at the top of their list. Probably some of the most amazing pizza I've ever had. The garlic bread was crisp, light, and full of flavor. The crust on the pizza was also amazing because it was thick enough to hold all the toppings without breaking, yet still light enough that you don't feel uncomfortably full afterwards. The tomato sauce and toppings just tasted so fresh. There are always servers walking around, so it's not hard to get their attention if you need something. It's a very cozy and quaint mom and pop type pizzeria. Price wise, it's EXTREMELY fair, especially in this economy. I got a larger, tastier pizza here than I would at any other pizza chain. My only caveat, is the seating area could use some AC or a fan. It was pretty warm in there but you did get used to it after a while. I would definitely recommend this pizzeria.

Theres no visible cash only sign so you dont know until youve already ordered. the pizza was mid and pasta as well. Nothing to ride home about but the decor is cute

I have been coming here since I was a kid. I love it still as much 30 years later. Consistant and delicious. My go tos are any pizza but I fancy the cheese pizza and their meatball sandwich. Also the antipasto salad is very yummy. The service is quick and they run around that small joint very well to keep you happy. If your ordering take out pizza expect a wait. Especially on the weekends. It's a definite MUST when I go visit my hometown. You tummy will thank you!! Thanks guys for years of great meals and family memories!

As always this place never disappoints!! Delicious !! I ventured out from the usual pizza that is definitely a staple here, and I don't regret my decision. However, I ultimately came back for pizza the following week ;) who can resist that deliciousness!

Great thin crust pizza. We had the margherita and mushroom pizzas and both were very good. The cheese was stringy in the best way. There was a bit of oil that we blotted but I do that with most pizzas. Casual comfortable setting.

I use to frequent this place in high school. So, once in a while I go back. The pizza is great and so is the panino caprese sandwich. My husband loves the lasagna and my son loves the cheese ravioli in pink sauce. When I want to eat comfort food, this is my spot. Oh, and the prices are affordable. I highly recommend this place.

I absolutely love Folliero's!!! Definitely one of my favorite mom and pop Italian restaurants. The food is always so fresh and great! I ordered the Deluxe pizza, Spaghetti with meatballs and the Penne Funghi. Everything was so good! I will say it was packed with people ordering take out and dining in, which made the wait time a bit long. The ambiance is such a gem in LA with their brick walls and dim lighting super cute for a meet up lunch or dinner spot. I highly recommend!

This is HLP staple. The ambiance is great. Many locals and new residents of the area are always enjoying their home style food. The pizzas are cheesy and tasty, but it's the ravioli that shines through. The service is fast and they really are glade to see you.

I've been going to this pizza place since I was a kid and it has still been one of my favorite pizza places! What I Ate: -5/5 Romana pizza: Don't let "no sauce" fool you. The rosemary and ham give the perfect kick of flavor. I always get this pizza -4.5/5 Deluxe pizza: this is for meat lovers. For me, it's on the saltier side, but still delicious if you're looking for a more traditional tomato sauce pizza. -3/5 Clam pasta: i got this with white wine sauce, but it was just okay to me. I would recommend trying a different pasta. Ambience: Perfect for date night since it's dimly lit. It can get busy at peak times so plan accordingly.

This place is garbage! Wont seat you if you are a party of 1. I have been here once before and the food is nothing special--it looks and tastes like canned sauce and boiled noodles from the 99cent Only store---its here for neighborhood nostalgia.

Folliero's is a staple in the Highland Park area. It represents an ungentrified and past version of L.A., and according to my dad who has been a patron here for nearly half a century, the quality has never wavered. He still recognizes a few of the workers from his visits decades ago in his youth, and has passed that tradition of eating here on to his family. As for the food; the pizza is of course the standout, with its (similar to) NY-style crust that is simultaneously flavorful, chewy, fluffy, crisp and airy; a simple yet delicious and hearty tomato sauce, and that perfectly salty mozzarella that bakes to form some sensational grease pockets. The flavors that combine on a Folliero's slice when all the toppings meld together is unlike any other pizza I've had. To me, it tastes like pure love and nostalgia, and of course, really good quality ingredients. I've tried countless iterations of their pizza and all of them are spot-on, but we most commonly tend to gravitate towards a simple half cheese-half pepperoni pie, sometimes with mushrooms. Another stellar and underrated item on their menu is the sandwiches. We order some sandwiches to accompany our pizza every time we go because they're just too good to pass up. Their cold cut sandwich is so tasty and well executed, as is the wonderful eggplant parmesan sub pictured below. Highly recommend that you give these a try. A large pizza and an eggplant sandwich comes out to just under $25, which is such a good deal, especially for a meal of this caliber and one that could easily feed 3 hungry people. This is such a gem of an establishment and a rare one at that. I truly hope Folliero's continues to stick around and keep pumping out some of the best pizza and sandwiches in L.A. for generations to come.

Came here hungry on a whim, because Villa's had a long line. Wow, probably the best pizza I've had in a long time. Neapolitan style, excellent crust and good toppings. Staff is very kind and checked in on us because it was chill despite being half-full of locals on a Sunday evening, and lots phone calls, with people here for take-out. Clean, cute ambiance, low-key a good date spot.

The prices? Great! The food? Underwhelming. Came here with some friends and we ordered a pasta dish and two small pizzas to share. The pasta was quite bland and I guess that's why they have the Parmesan and S&P on the side so you can do your own seasoning. The pizza was okay, when I tried to lift a slice onto my plate, the cheese and toppings completely separated from the pie dough and it was not easy to transfer onto my plate. There's an adjacent parking lot with about 20 ish spots behind the restaurant and some meter parking in front so not bad.

Love Folliero's ! Very affordable Italian food and pizza with nice size portions. This isn't one of those fancy Italian places where it's all plate and no food. It's a very laid back neighborhood spot with great food. Just remember to bring cash because this is a cash only establishment.
