No joke, this is the second best bbq I've had in America.
While they didn't have any brisket, they did have burnt ends - and they were absolutely fabulous. You could tell they came from fatty brisket, which in and of itself makes this place a winner. So many bbq places, especially in the mountain west, use lean brisket. I'm not sure if it's just that much cheaper, but it kills your product. Here at Follow Yer Nose, they've got the fat and boy does it make for absolutely incredible brisket burnt ends.
The pulled pork was flavorful, the sausage was excellent and had a great "snap". The pulled pork sandwich itself was incredible, their bread is homemade and was absolutely awesome. Their sides were fantastic - baked beans with burnt ends, and a pasta salad that had some serious wow-factor to it.
You can also grab a bunch of sauce for dipping and pouring and we tried a mustard based sauce that had some amazing tang to it, and their most basic sweet and smoky sauce which was incredible.
Seriously, this place is amazing. It's a super cool "shack" style spot with counter service and plentiful outdoor seating that I imagine makes for a phenomenal place to sit and moan in delight as you eat your way through a whole animal when there's no pandemic to speak of, but for now it's all takeaway and there's no shortage of cool place to toss down a camp chair by the river in the valley and much on your bbq. So it's win/win either way.
Incredible bbq, great dudes running the place, and a great spot. Absolute hidden gem (or maybe not since they were listed as best bbq in Montana by time magazine).
If we're ever back in the valley for vacation again, we are 100% going here. You should too. It's incredible.
