We love the ambiance of this spot. Great vibe with cheeky humor all around. Service is super friendly and helpful. Jake had great recommendations for us, including local craft beers. Pimento cheese, candied jalapenos, and spicy fresh pickles were all a pleasant surprise! This is a must stop if you're in the area or passing through!

Google
Usually really good.. got “FUNGI” today and got 3 tiny strips of mushroom, what a joke they used to throw a huge slab in their sandwich, same with the smoked sausage sandwich they used to lay it down! Portions are getting smaller and not as much bang for your buck. Delicious but portions are going down as the years go by sadly

Love….love this place! Food is delicious! Best Brisket I have ever had across states of exploring all flavors of smoke beef brisket! Customer service a little rocky, but worth every bump and bruises. This will now be our family pit stop to and from Yellowstone.

We had Follow Yer' Nose for our wedding reception. The food was amazing. Guests are still talking about it. The planning process was seamless thanks to Sheena.

Google
We really enjoyed our food! Brisket and pulled pork done right! Collards were the best! Waiting line to order but well worth the wait! We will be back soon 🤤

Google
What a great place to hang out and enjoy delicious BBQ. We picked up dinner for 40 for a rehearsal dinner and it was fabulous! We enjoyed brisket and shredded pork with all of the sauces, it was so YUMMY! We will definitely be back when in the area again...

Google
Visiting the area from UK, via Bozeman. Excellent, friendly server at the till. Great views! Good sandwiches, small but filling. Beef and Pork. Purchased a great, quality t-shirt too. Lots merchandise, fresh bread, cakes etc. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog allowed outside and they kindly gave the dog meat scraps. Cool signs and memorabilia over the outside seating area. Very enjoyable, authentic, friendly experience.

Google
Hands down some of the best bbq we have had!! We ate here twice in one week, and loved it so much! The brisket, turkey and sausage were our favorites, and the sides were so so good too, we had to try them all! It’s a fun atmosphere and good for kids and dogs! On our second visit we met the owners and they were some of the most down to earth and sweetest people ever! Love supporting local businesses especially when the food, quality and service is top notch! This place will not disappoint and we can’t wait to come back when in the area!

Yelp
I never eat pork, except here. Dang, it's so good, and such a great atmosphere. Did I mention they carry grape fanta? And have live bluegrass on Thursday evenings? Great food, great staff, great place.

Yelp
This was recommended to us as a "must try" while in MT. I'm glad we stopped! We've tried different bbq spots throughout the US and this is one of the best we've ever had. The whole set up of the place was fun. It has cool outdoor seating, lights, and good country music playing. I tried the brisket, sausage, loaded pasta salad, and coleslaw. My wife tried the dancing ned and she enjoyed it. I'd recommend everyone should at minimum try the brisket and loaded pasta salad. Bonus tip - they own the bakery nextdoor too. The cinnamon roll was out of this world for dessert and the chocolate pecan toffee cookie was a close second.

Yelp
There was a line when we went there on a Thursday night at 7pm, so we waited about 45 minutes. I think it was due to a popular singer having a concert next door. We ordered a couple of drinks at the bar as we waited. The cider was good. I nice lady/local in front of us recommended the Brisket so we had to get that. I thought it was good but a bit too fatty for me; over 50% of what we got. We also had the pulled pork, half a chicken (that's the only thing my child would eat, and unfortunately, they didn't have children portions), collard greens, and beans. Meats fell off the bone, beans were sweet, greens were greens. I'm not a fan of benches, but that's the only seating option. It's a fun atmosphere with a good vibe.

Yelp
"I recently had the pleasure of dining at Follow Your Nose BBQ in Immigrant, Montana and I must say, it was one of best barbecue experiences I've ever had. The brisket sandwich was absolutely divine - theet was tender and flavorful, and the buttery bread it came on just took it to the next level. Their pasta dish with bits of brisket was also a standout for me. This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots to eat. Highly recommend giving it a try!"

Yelp
I don't know when or if I will ever return to this edge of the park since Yellowstone has different entrance areas but I want to highly recommend follow your nose. It is excellent barbecue. They have pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and all sorts of sides. It's excellent food taste just like the southern barbecue or Texas style barbecue. Of course someone who knows the difference will know better but close enough for me. I was fortunate to meet with these wonderful people. I met on my rafting trip and we all agreed that the food was fantastic. The lady working in the window was really polite and nice. The guy was a little bit rude but the lady was super nice and the food was excellent. If you're looking for good food in this area, this is a good restaurant and I've also recommended another to help people out. Have a wonderful trip!!!

Yelp
While on our family vacation, we stayed in Emigrant and stumbled upon Follow Yer Nose. The BBQ was delicious, but my favorites were the smoked turkey and the baked beans. My daughter ordered the chicken and it was huge. (She enjoyed leftovers several days later.). Their signage paid homage to Virginians and Georgians and we are from Virginia and my daughter lives in Savannah and is married to a native Georgia.

Angelo C.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us by our Airbnb host for our one night before we went into Yellowstone. It was amazing. The brisket was so moist and perfectly caramelized and the burnt and baked beans were the best I have ever had. And addition to that they had a really great band playing outside. Great experience.

Herb D.

Yelp
Barbecue In a rustic western setting open air venue with a shed roof. Very popular with the locals and visitors.

Brian R.

Yelp
This is the place that I will use as the highest benchmark for fabulous barbecue. Best baked beans that I ever had. The food is only rivaled by the view. Checks all the boxes.

Keara K.

Yelp
Best BBQ I've had! Every dish is delicious, the ribs, brisket, slaw, collard greens, everything! They had some live music the time we went. It was so delicious that we came back the next day! If you like BBQ, it's a must try! Recommend stopping by if you're going to Yellowstone!

Cheryl F.

Yelp
Who knew there'd be a BBQ gem in the quiet and remote area of the Yellowstone River around Pray Montana!! This place was recommended and we were NOT disappointed! Delicious turkey and chopped brisket. The outdoor seating was fun and relaxing. Go!

William W.

Yelp
We loved the bbq at follow yer nose. Super friendly and helpful staff. Rustic and low key ambiance with a nice back drop. If they suggest something, you should take their advice on a special (they are trying to help you). If you go later in the evening, chances are the popular items will be sold out. Our favorite meat was the baby back ribs and our favorite side was the collared greens. They have a plethora of sauces, of which we preferred the vinegar based ones. A must visit if you are in the area and are craving bbq!

Christina C.

Yelp
Amazing spot for BBQ!!! Actually, one of my fave spots now for BBQ anywhere in the US. I eat BBQ mostly in TN and can say that this spot beats many. We went here 3 times in 2 days!!! Staff is so friendly. The restaurant itself is on an outdoor patio with table seating. We ate the pulled pork, ribs, sausage, and brisket. Sides - greens, cole slaw, and garlic bread. Everything was so tasty. Best greens I've had in a long time. Cole slaw wasn't overly seasoned with creaminess/mayo. All the meat was smoked so well with such a great flavor.

Nancy S.

Yelp
We ended up making three stops in 2 days here! Note that they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. So we had brisket and sausage for dinner with their ciabatta bread. And they have 5 types of bbq sauce! The next day we had pulled pork with their baked beans and their "Clint Eastwood" huckleberry/limeade. Yum. We found out they were making burnt ends, so the Hubbs went back at 5pm to get a pound of those with the slaw, the pasta salad and more beans. We really ate well that night (and leftovers for later!) What really impressed me were the people. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and willing to talk (when not slammed!). It's a popular place. And the patio is lovely. They are dog-friendly.

Marisol R.

Yelp
I'm from Texas. That inherently comes with its own level of bbq snobbery. That being said I'm always game to try bbq out of state to see who can hang. Let me tell you.... They can HANG! This is some bad ass que! We tried it all, the pulled pork, brisket and smoked Turkey. All friggin awesome. And their sauces are some of the best I've ever tried. All homemade. Six different ones. This is a start to finish amazing bbq experience. And I'm a bbq road road trip weekend warrior so I know my stuff! We loved our lunch so much we came back for dinner! Yes, Texans returned, twice in one day. If that doesn't convince you that you'll love your meal here, not sure what will!

Tim A.

Yelp
So I went to FYN for lunch while staying at the Chico Springs Resort--less than 10 minutes away. Very unremarkable experience. I got one of the daily specials--chicken thigh sandwich. The ciabatta role was excellent, the chicken was ok, nothing special. Then I looked at the reviews and person after person (seemingly all from Texas) said this was the best barbecue in the state of Montana. I started wondering what I missed. Then I got back to my chalet and found out we were having FYN catered in for dinner. I tried the ribs and the chicken and the beef brisket--oh my! This place is the real deal. Highly recommended!

David B.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious, and perfectly presented barbecue plus happy and engaged owners and staff in a highly unlikely setting on the way to (or from) Yellowstone NP. What a great place for tasty BBQ.

L H.

Yelp
Went on a recommendation from our raft guide and so happy we did! There was a line to order your food, but it went quickly. It's outdoor seating only under a covered patio. It didn't take long for our order to be called out, once you pick it up there is a station with 4 BBQ sauces, napkins etc. off to the side. The BBQ pork sandwich was one of the best I've had.

Glenn G.

Yelp
Awesome delicious cool atmosphere on ears barbecue dog friendly grass area great. Can't wait to eat straight sides beans

Yvette C.

Yelp
We only had the chance to get the brisket as food ran out. Brisket was great- soft, tasty. The sauce they offered was all very tasty. The cider was very good. The beans tasted great. Brisket was not bad compared to other places we tried in the area. The best brisket we had was Franklin in TX so it's hard to compare.

Diana N.

Yelp
The ribs were soooo good! Dreaming of eating them again! Loved the vibe of the outdoor seating!

Steven S.

Yelp
Classic BBQ. Cowboys dominate. No lobster on the menu. No dancing either. Baked beans make up for the lack of seafood.

Oliver B.

Yelp
Better barbecue than all of San Diego has to offer, for a good price. Chill ambiance, good service and a great bakery, all in the middle of nowhere!

Seacoast Food Blogger M.

Yelp
I have traveled to a lot of places and tried many different BBQ joints around the country and carribean, and this place in the middle of nowhere, Montana has to be my new favorite BBQ place of all time!!!!! Talking 7 stars, the food here is to die for. I don't know their recipe for their baked beans but any place in Boston should be extremely worried as the baked beans here were out of this world awesome!!!!! Quick service, a large craft brew list and family style seating rounds out "the place to go in southern Montana" So if your heading to Yellowstone, you gotta stop here!!!!!! 5+++++ STARS

Jason C.

Yelp
Strait up best BBQ in montucky!!!!!!straight up pure southern BBQ from the heart it's worth driving from Mars to eat thi bbq!!!!

Brian F.

Yelp
I came here at 5pm and there was barely anyone here. Then about 20 minutes later it was packed and there was a line, so I recommend getting here a little bit before then. Also, it's better to come earlier so things aren't sold out when you arrive. There is no indoor seating but there is some shaded outdoor tables. I ordered the brisket sandwich ($12), a side of coleslaw ($3) and a whiskey peach cider ($9.50). The brisket sandwich was so fatty and juicy and the brisket itself was very good. The coleslaw was good to cut through the fattiness of the brisket. They have four different kinds of sauces that you can try; my favorite was their signature one which was slightly sweet and tangy and my second favorite was their spicy one whose name I forgot. This is located in a small area of shops and the buildings make you feel like you're back in the wild wild west!

John B.

Yelp
Thanks for the chow this past weekend! Flying back to NY now. The beef and cheese was amazing. The beans? Awww. Yip amazing too! I'll be back in a month. You guys and gals rock!!

Ticker T.

Yelp
Humble, solid service and the best damn BBQ we ever had! Beautiful scenery while eating.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ! We came on our way to the park and had pulled pork plate with slaw, homemade pickles (so good and spicy!) and a GF bun. Our brother had the brisket sandwich, which he said was great. All of the meats are gluten free and they have separate buns, as well as a few gluten free BBQ sauces! Such helpful staff as well with allergies. The bakery next door, Wildflower, also had gluten free options (we tried the flourless cookie) as well as espresso drinks ( though we didn't try those).

T O.

Yelp
We ate at the food truck in Gardiner MT. and it was delicious. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was tender and juicy the bbq sauce was great. Wifey had the brisket with pimento cheese spread sandwich and she loved it. Bbq beans were also great

Huong L.

Yelp
Wow. That's all I can say. Didn't expect to find good bbq in Montana. We found out about this place through Yelp. We were leaving Yellowstone and wanted something to eat, saw that this place have amazing review so check it out. It's takeout only but they had a few tables across the street you can use. We got the pulled pork sandwich, a 1/2 lb of brisket, Cole slaw, collard greens, and beans. They also gave us the option to try all their bbq sauces which was awesome. The brisket was probably the best brisket I ever had. It was a perfect brisket filled with everything you want, fatty portion, lean portion, flavorful, tender. It was really good brisket. The pulled pork was also really good. I like that they didn't smothered the pulled pork in sauces so you can taste the flavors but it was definitely on the dry side for me. It's also the one bbq place that I been to that actually toast the bread. The side was standard, but the sauce was really good. I love all of the sauces, they were tangy, flavorful and definitely hard to choose one over the other. It's a bbq place literally in the middle of nowhere, but it was definitely a place to go if you ever visit Yellowstone from the north entrance.

Michele Q.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ. Awesome place to stop and load up with river lunch. Take a chicken to go and mow down in your raft while floating the Yellowstone. Everything is top notch. Love the sauce options too!

Kari J.

Yelp
After reading all the reviews we were really excited to try this place and drove a good distance out of our way. The girl Who helped us at the register wasn't friendly. The meats were fine. The beans tasted like a can of baked beans with meat added in. We didn't like the collard greens. The breads were fine but nothing exciting. The lemonade tasted like that bottled lemon juice with sugar, but not much sugar. Same with my hibiscus lemonade- not sweet at all and we couldn't find sugar packets anywhere.

Greg S.

Yelp
A taste of middle GA in the middle of know where Montana good joint to eat close to the Yellowstone river in emigrant Montana

Cody P.

Yelp
Yessir best smoked bbq in paradise valley, nothing from here is bad. Everything packed with flavor beautiful view with massive mountains as well.

Chip D.

Yelp
Really good barbecue in a small shack. Had the pulled pork. Looking forward to the brisket next time.

Steven P.

Yelp
Saw this place on the way back to our motel. Stopped for a bite of their brisket and loved it. Got super lucky, they were almost out! Great place with nice people,

Josh T.

Yelp
This is nice local spot for BBQ. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich "Sleeping Giant" and the brisket sandwich "Yankee Jim" along with their coleslaw, burnt end baked beans, and collard greens. The sandwiches were great. The ciabatta bread is fresh and come from the bakery next door. The view and ambiance are amazing. If you're on your way to Yellowstone and in in the mood for BBQ, this is a great place to stop.

Samantha H.

Yelp
I'm honestly shocked. My Montana expats said this was the best BBQ in Montana and I had to roll my eyes (how good could bbq even be here?? We are from Texas for goodness sakes!!) After a week up north though I was ready to get some BBQ sauce back in my system. And, alright, IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Wow. I got a brisket sandwich and it was out of this world. They have home made sauce which is tangy and delicious - feel free to ask, they had great suggestions! Also I would be remiss to skip over their home made dill pickles, a must. For sides I recommend the baked beans or collard greens

Jason J.

Yelp
No joke, this is the second best bbq I've had in America. While they didn't have any brisket, they did have burnt ends - and they were absolutely fabulous. You could tell they came from fatty brisket, which in and of itself makes this place a winner. So many bbq places, especially in the mountain west, use lean brisket. I'm not sure if it's just that much cheaper, but it kills your product. Here at Follow Yer Nose, they've got the fat and boy does it make for absolutely incredible brisket burnt ends. The pulled pork was flavorful, the sausage was excellent and had a great "snap". The pulled pork sandwich itself was incredible, their bread is homemade and was absolutely awesome. Their sides were fantastic - baked beans with burnt ends, and a pasta salad that had some serious wow-factor to it. You can also grab a bunch of sauce for dipping and pouring and we tried a mustard based sauce that had some amazing tang to it, and their most basic sweet and smoky sauce which was incredible. Seriously, this place is amazing. It's a super cool "shack" style spot with counter service and plentiful outdoor seating that I imagine makes for a phenomenal place to sit and moan in delight as you eat your way through a whole animal when there's no pandemic to speak of, but for now it's all takeaway and there's no shortage of cool place to toss down a camp chair by the river in the valley and much on your bbq. So it's win/win either way. Incredible bbq, great dudes running the place, and a great spot. Absolute hidden gem (or maybe not since they were listed as best bbq in Montana by time magazine). If we're ever back in the valley for vacation again, we are 100% going here. You should too. It's incredible.

Lawrence B.

Yelp
I ate here a few years back and they had a 3 girl acoustic band playing and they were great . But the food was outstanding I ordered ribs and wanted potato salad but they were out of potato salad. The owner said try the beans but I don't really like baked beans but he said try the beans and if I didn't like the beans he'd buy my meal . I tried the beans and ended up buying food to go also since I was heading to Missouri. Long story short the food is awesome.

Jes T.

Yelp
This was our first food stop on vacation and it's been on my Yelp list to try for months. Loved the vibe! You order at the counter and then they have picnic tables for eating. I am a Carolina girl and keep bbq very near and dear to my heart. Pork was my favorite meat, the brisket was just too tough for my liking. Also loved the pasta salad and beans were good (more tomato-y than usual). I also LOVED making a bbq sandwich on ciabatta bread! Why don't more places do that?! I can't remember what it's called but I also had their specialty tea that was good and not too sweet. Definitely check it out!

Lexi D.

Yelp
Cute outdoor fun atmosphere. You order your food outside on the patio, you get your drinks before you sit and they call your name when your food is ready. I think we waited maybe 5 minutes max for our food to come up. Lots of picnic benches allow for lots of seating. We enjoyed the brisket and ribs with sides of garlic bread and coleslaw. THE BEST RIBS IN THE STATE OF MONTANA RIGHT HERE!!! Yummy! They have 5 bbq sauces and a garlic oil for your collard greens.

Mike N.

Yelp
Been on family vacation in Paradise Valley, Emigrant Montana for 5 days...have eaten at Follow Yer Nose BBQ 3 times. Fabulous!! (I am from Kansas City where we know a thing or two about BBQ and smoking meats) Follow Yer Nose BBQ is the real deal...totally rustic, authentic setting, people and food...comfortable place with NO pretentiousness. I have had the sliced beef brisket--thick slices, butter tender, beautiful smoke ring, tasty dry rub crust just absolutely delicious. Smoked Turkey chili was excellent--generous chunks of smoked Turkey, chilis, white beans, potatoes, onions in creamy base. Pulled pork sandwich on fresh homemade ciabatta (bakery is just next door...if timed right you could probably get the rolls while still just out of the oven warm)--remarkable flavor and texture. Biggest surprise has been the smoked portobello mushroom sandwich--huge meaty mushroom smoked deliciously, still toothsome also on a ciabatta roll...absolutely meat like, so good! I am as absolute carnivore but enjoyed this alternative sandwich. Again, this place has been a real enjoyable find...relaxed and authentic. If in the area or passing through to Yellowstone Park, this place is worth the stop!!

Lee H.

Yelp
This place has the best ribs and brisket I've ever tasted. They know how to put together a feast for a family of 45 or a date night. It's true Montana atmosphere. We love it!

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Came here with my family while visiting. Party of 15! The staff was SO NICE! All smiles, so accommodating and wholesome. Food was SO GOOD! This gem is a must if you're in the area! Thank you guys!

Emily W.

Yelp
Amazing everything. We had the ribs, beef brisket, and smoked portobello with pimento. I don't normally like mushroom sandwiches, this one changed my mind. A must try!!

S M.

Yelp
This was just an excellent experience after 3 days in Yellowstone. I am from Texas and this EXCEEDS any expectations I had. Just phenomenal!

Marc M.

Yelp
Amazing bbq spot with plenty of good sauces and beer to accompany. We sat in the outdoors patio which was fun. I had the pulled pork and it was excellent. The service is very friendly. I highly recommend!
