My mother booked a rental property with Avocet properties for a reunion. 3 weeks prior to the check-in date, she was told that if the house was ready ahead of time, she would be allowed to go in a little early. On check-in day, she stopped by the office to ask if the house was ready for check-in to see if she could get in early. She was told no, that the maids were cleaning. Since she was already on Folly Beach, she decided to ride around for an hour until she could check-in. While riding around, she passed the house and noticed that the cleaning service was finishing up. About 10 minutes after seeing this, she decided to call to see if the house was ready for check-in. Upon her question, Tim told her, "Didn't we already tell you this?" As a local, I decided to call to see what prompted Tim to speak to my mother this way. (She was persistent and yes, probably didn't need to ask a second time...but ultimately, she should not have been spoken to this way.) Upon speaking with Tim, I tried calmly discussing the issue I had with the way he spoke to my mother, as a client of the company, but was interrupted 4 times by him. At this point, he then told me that my mother shouldn't have been "stalking" the house to see when she could get in. She was not stalking. Anybody that sees Folly knows how relaxing it is to drive around with the windows down and look at the houses...especially if you have time to waste. When I asked for Tim's last name so that I could file a complaint, he refused to give it to me. This is the absolutely LAST time I will recommend this company to anyone visiting Folly Beach. I work in a customer service setting, so I know the importance of treating clients with respect and patience, no matter the situation. Tim did the complete opposite of that with both my mother and myself. For this reason, I suggest that if you are looking for a rental property company, this is not the place for you.
