The resort is absolutely beautiful - set in a full nature setting. Definitely not your typical sterile resort room! The dress was casual at all times and the atmosphere very relaxed.||There are chickens, roosters, cats, kittens, and even an opossum wandering the property. So many birds to see and trees loaded with fruit.||Our cottage was lovely. It looked as if it had been there for a century. It was one bedroom, very roomy. An outdoor shower, plunge pool, large porch completed the setting.||There are several pools on the property. The closest to our cottage was three cascading pools. The water was warmed by the sun.||There's only one restaurant - I wish there had been more choices. The food was always excellent and the staff were very good - it was just a little repetitive. We chose not to rent a car (the roads are narrow and the drive on the left), so had the one restaurant or the cost of a taxi plus the meal to change it up. We took a taxi to Soufriere one afternoon for a few hours and it was $80 round trip.||Our biggest surprise was that all of the cottages with the plunge pool were on the side of a hill. There were a LOT of stairs and inclines. We were able to do it, but it was a struggle and most nights my legs were killing me.||The next biggest surprise was a day that we planned for Sugar Beach - a free shuttle from the hotel. Sugar Beach is accessed through another Resort. The shuttle dropped us off a mile uphill (I do mean UP) from the beach - that was as far as they were allowed to go. We found out later that we could have waited and paid the resort for a ride down to the beach, but none were there when we arrived and it wasn't communicated that we had an option other than walking down. Once we finally reached the bottom we encountered MANY signs advising us that we weren't allowed to use the resort facilities. It was extremely unwelcoming. There was a small section to the right that didn't belong to the resort - it had a tiny bit of sand and a lot of rocks. It was very disappointing. We finally decided we'd had enough and paid someone to take us back up to the top ($10), then had to find a taxi ($30) to drive us back to Fond Doux. After asking around, we were told that "technically" all beaches are public property, but if we'd gotten too close to a paying resort customer, they would ask us to move. As I said - very unwelcoming. ||My suggestion to the resort is to have a map of their property describing each cabin and its accessibility and accommodations. Detailed information about the Sugar Beach shuttle would have better prepared us. ||I would return to this resort. I liked the vibe and privacy. It was very relaxing. I would NOT choose the same cabin because the trek up and down the stairs detracted from our enjoyment.
