We had a great experience at this place. If you are in Monterrey you should visit this place for authentic Mexican 🇲🇽 food. Juan Pablo and his team welcomed us for a great breakfast and cooking 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳 experience including a visit of the local market 🌽. This Salsa Verde is just delicious and traditionally made with tomatillos 💚 ( green 🍅 ) which reminded us of a mix of tomato and 🍋!

Very tasty, authentic Mexican food which is something hard to find in Monterrey. Definitely recommend!

If there were more stars I would add more but it only allows 5 stars. One of the most authentic places to have had the pleasure to visit. Some places leave you wanting more and that's what this place is. The exceptional service, the beautiful music and the scrumptious food is worth more than what's it listed for. 100% visiting again.

Lovely place, great service and atmosphere. Met the owner Juan, had a lovely chat. Will definitely come back.

We came to this quaint and charming restaurant for lunch. It is situated in the Barrio Antiguo area, yet a few blocks away from the typical tourist strip. I felt like I had briefly traveled back in time to my great grandmother's home. The interior is exactly what you would find in a typical home dated during the times when Monterrey was first established. This establishment had plenty of seating. The walls are the original walls, built using those large and unevenly shaped stones and thick mortar layers. I found it intriguing to sit and imagine that being someone's home at one time. The artwork made by modern artists gave it a natural blend between the yesteryears and today. The food was very good too. The portion size and taste was perfect. I had a carajillo. The caguama was surprisingly complementary with the dish my husband ordered.

I came to have breakfast because I read in Lonely Planet about their cooking lessons. Juan Pablo gave me the GREATEST welcoming I've ever had at a restaurant. They have a guitar player and I had an incredible meal. In a few days, Mario - one of the partner chefs - prepared a whole cooking experience for me. In 3-4 hours we made: guacamole, tacos, salsa mexicana y verde, chilaquiles, tamales, sopes, gorditas, enchiladas, pork, chicken .. just endless amounts of food to prepare, eat and drink. The most memorable experience in MX so far. No one should leave Monterrey without coming here!

This place was beyond my expectations. I was in Monterrey on vacation with my brother and brother-in-law for the weekend. We were looking for authentic regional food. It was so amazing that we ended up going to have breakfast three days in a row. We met our server Pau, she was so accommodating. She understood what we needed after we showed up with electrolytes (lol). She recommended grata plates, as well as Greta mezcal and cerveza carta blanca. All in all, they made us feel so welcomed that we kept going back. Needless to say, I will return to this cozy place, with great food and service, as soon as I return to Monterrey. Thank you Pau, the great singer (I forgot his name, due to the many mexcales 😥), and the most awesome owner. Last but not least, thanks to the chef for the “curado” he gifted us! Don’t hesitate to go, and I hope you run into Pau and her team. Great people!

Lovely spot. My Spanish is not great and the owner came by to our table to tell us about the food and make recommendations. It was delicious! The chilaquiles were so tasty and filling, the green juice was not too sweet, and there was plenty of coffee. The atmosphere was cozy with American rock oldies playing. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
We were looking for a nice spot to take a break from the heat and grab some a refreshment. I am so happy we came here. As soon as you walk in its absolutely charming. We'll after the short stairway down into what looks like a strange alley. The place is like something out of a European fairy tale. The walls are stone and there are flags of various nations all around. Super charming. The service was great and the food was even better. There was a bit of a wait which I thought was strange because it was not full. But the good made up for it. Make sure you walk around and take it all in. Oh and we each had an Agua Fresca, shared aone nachos with added guacamole for about $15 US. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
The chicken with peanut sauce was pretty good but everything else not so much. Where this place looses me is the ambiance. We came in here after a long day of walking in the Monterrey sun only to find they had no air conditioning. We decided to stay due to good reviews but it was not worth it at all and it was hot and oh so uncomfortable. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
Look for Cantinflas as soon as you turn the block. This quaint and charming can be found in the Barrio Antiguo area, yet a few blocks away from the typical tourist strip. We came here for lunch. All five dishes were very tasty. I would highly recommend this establishment not only for the food, but also if you want to briefly travel in time to the interior of a typical home dated during the times when Monterrey was first established. The server was very generous when asked for the other kind of tortillas for my mother. I had a carajillo. The caguama was surprisingly complementary with the dish my husband ordered.

Yelp
Great Food!! The service was great, very friendly. Live music, the place is very small.

Yelp
This place welcomed us when we visited Monterrey for the first time. The food is spectacular and the ambiance is sooooo nice. They had live music for breakfast. The waitresses were extremely nice and welcoming and overall the experience was beautiful. 11/10!

Yelp
We were a little intimidated by the parking and the existing buildings around the area but the inside of this restaurant was so authentic and inviting. The service was excellent Mario came up to us and welcomed us in English and made sure we understood what we were ordering. And what we ordered was delicious!! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that we called to confirm if it was pet friendly and they didn't answer BUT called us back immediately. Prior to arriving, they were so friendly and inviting that they sent us directions and the menu on WhatsApp. We walked to the destination and we were welcomed as if we were family. The service was great, the food was delicious and we will be returning when we are in town. Juan Pablo is so warm and welcoming. Gracias. Y a todos que visiten...provecho.

Yelp
Set in an unassuming building near the end of the street, you'd never know there was a hidden oasis within. We came to Fonda el Limoncito as a part of an Airbnb food & cooking experience where Juan Pablo opened his kitchen and heart to us. You don't need to book a cooking experience to visit, as this place primarily operates as a regular walk-in restaurant. They don't have a set menu, but they offer delicious daily specials made with fresh local ingredients. Local craft brews are available and they have live music on occasion. If you are interested in more than just a meal, I do recommend booking their cooking experienced through Airbnb. With this, you visit a local market, stop by a molino to see how corn is ground into masa, and visit a neighborhood church. After purchasing food items, you go back to the restaurant to cook up a nice meal and crack open a few beers. I was especially appreciative of Juan Pablo's flexibility when I requested a vegan meal. He allowed me to pick out whatever vegetables I wanted at the market. I ended up cooking pumpkin flowers and cabuche cactus flowers into a tasty meal. Good times in Monterrey!

Yelp
Outstanding restaurant in quaint part of Barrio Antiquo. Food is well thought out, staff is unbelievably hospitable, cozy atmosphere, great live music. There's no other reason to go anywhere else on your next trip to Monterrey. Chilaquiles come as part of a 3 course meal with fruit & yogurt as your 1st course, two delicious tapas sized pork tacos as your 2nd course and the star of the show - the Chilaquiles as your 3rd course. Included were French pressed coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Lots of regulars and after your 1st visit it's easy to see why. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
While visiting Monterrey we came across this restaurant on Yelp! Food is amazing...!!! We ended up making this our breakfast ritual because the food was just that fantastic! Fresh OJ, fresh fruit - service was spectacular! We love the fact that we didn't have to struggle to park. Will definitely come back when visiting Monterrey.

Yelp
Delicioso!!! Hoy visitamos por segunda vez en la semana! Lo más rico que hemos comido en 10 días de estancia!

Yelp
It's ok,but nothing out of the extraordinary!! Not for quick stop, you need time to sit down and enjoy the wait!!

Ducos R.

Yelp
Amazing and cosy place for a great meal! Enter your friends house and enjoy a fine, homecooked meal. This is how it feels like to be here. No menu, just the meal of the day if you arrive late. Freshly cooked, refined cuisine... extremely enjoyable food and amazingly friendly staff. Definitely coming back when in Monterrey. Really recommand

Yelp
Lovely place with great service, food, music and atmosphere. Ordered the Huevos a la mexicana & hotcakes. For sure would return!

Yelp
Great option, deliciously well designed recipes, fair pricing, nice and kind service, should improve restrooms facilities though. Overall highly recommendable, definitely will recommend it!

Yelp
A perfect place for authentic mexican food with great service and live music. Loved it so much!

Yelp
DELICIOUS! The first day of our trip my group and I chose this place to begin. It was such a great choice! They have a 3 course meal for lunch for the price of 180 pesos (about $9) each person. The day we went they started us off with a choice of soup (beef stew or carrot soup), after this our main course was served which that day we had a choice of pollo con mole or meatballs, and finally for dessert we were served cafe de hoya and flan. The service was great and we also were able to enjoy the live music. Such a calm and relaxing atmosphere. We came back to the restaurant a couple days after for breakfast. We were first served fruit with the topping choices of granola, honey, and yogurt. We then enjoyed our freshly squeezed glass of orange juice with our green chilaquiles. Everything was so delicious and reminds you of your mother's cooking. Definitely a place worthy of visiting. I will definitely come back when I visit Monterrey again.

Yelp
We went here for lunch a few months ago. It was amazing! I meant to write this review a while ago...but I never did. But the place was so memorable, I figured I'd do it now! Amazing service & amazing food! The owner was so friendly...it felt like we had walked into a family celebration and we were totally welcomed. There was live music and the owner would come around to talk to you at your table while serving food and wine. The food was so delicious...gazpacho soup, garlic bread, pallela with a ton of seafood, dessert...it was all good, and we were super full afterward. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant. The owner is bilingual, and looks to serve local style food with a very simple concept. They will prepare a 3-4 course meal with 1-2 options for each course. The owner and staff look to explain each course/option thoroughly. Incredibly welcoming and very modestly priced. I highly recommend stopping in as they strive to provide exceptional service and make your meal as enjoyable as possible. We finished up with a french press to share for the table with very high quality coffee. I cannot wait to come back and spend even more time at this lovely establishment.

Harper B.

Yelp
The owner, Juan Pablo, gave us a once in a lifetime dining experience. He was so attentive and entertaining, and the food was incredible. Completely reasonable pricing. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Wow! This restaurant is an incredible find, and I'm so grateful I found myself here during a holiday in Monterrey. The owner, Juan Pablo, and his team are incredibly welcoming and the food is both flavorful and fresh. This is the type of place that feels like a home away from home. Oh, and they serve microbrews. Highly recommended.
