Located in Mercado de Merced which is quieter and less touristy than Mercado November 28. Food here was excellent and prices were lower as well.

The best Oaxacan food we found! It's located inside a market, but don't let the lack of a restaurant dissuade you. There was plenty of seating and it was indoors away from the heat. The owner and wait staff were incredibly friendly and helped us pick out delicious food. They had plenty of vegetarian options and modifications. If you are in Oaxaca this place is a must try!

Sorry I don't speak Spanish, the review will be in English. Great place in a very 'local' market a bit outside Oaxaca center. The food is delicious and the staff is very nice. It is really nice stop for breakfast or lunch during the visit of this market. Easy with children.

We enjoyed the corn and vegetable soup and chilaquilles with egg! The market was quiet at the time so we could simply focus on the food! The soup came with a lovely cheesy taco, but overall there could have been more seasoning to all the dishes and more flavour.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It was highly recommended so maybe my expectations were high, but it was a very mediocre chilaquiles with a pretty blah chorizo. I don't know. I wouldn't go back.

Wonderful, local food stand. Highly recommend. Great for those like to spend less and still eat well. All the classics are here; a place to which I'm eager to return.

Local restaurant with proper seating in a local market. Occasionally, the band will play some music which makes the ambience nice and lively. Serves oaxacan cuisine which importantly must include mole, tlayuda and hot chocolate. Try the normal mole as well as mole roja. Mole roja, the red spicy mole, is better. Hot chocolate was made with water (instead of milk) and tasted good. There is also a wide selection of bread to go with the drinks or mole.

Best breakfast in Mexico! Prices are really cheap and everything was delicious. Our serve was very nice and helped with great suggestions from the menu based on what we were feeling. Got the enfrijoldas with egg and chicken and potato empanadas. The coffee was also really good.

Yelp
Fonda Florecita is an icon within the Mercado la Merced. The man who was serving us has flair and patience with tourists. He is fluent in English as well, so it is very easy to order what you want. I came here specifically for Mole Negros--king of the 7 infamous Moles in Oaxaca. I was not disappointed. Somewhat lackluster on its own with dark, earthy, smoky, acrid notes. The mole becomes alive when combined with the garlic oil rice--suddenly berry flavors burst forth. Then mix in slices of the firm, moist, sweet chicken and the mole takes on nutty hues. Washed it all down with a massive orange juice. Light lunch for 120 pesos ($6)--but priceless encounter with an icon.

Yelp
One of the best places to eat authentic Oaxacan food. Very tasty food and excellent service to go with it. Lovely space, and warm people. 20/10 would highly recommend and will definitely come back.

Yelp
Great local spot! Make sure to go to the back of the market - there is a place near the eastern entrance that has a really similar name (and will pretend they are Fonda Florecita when you show them a picture even of this place). THE WAIT: None at 9am on Thursday (New Year's Eve) morning. It was busy but there was space on the communal tables. SERVICE: Friendly. They don't know much english so make sure you know what you want to order! See my pictures for additional details. * Chilaquiles - 3.5 stars My bf didn't love this, but I didn't get to try any. * Tlayuda, carne asada - 4 stars Tasty! The meat was a bit tough though. * Hot Chocolate - 4.5 stars Super tasty * Sweet bread - 3.5 stars A bit dry, nice with the hot chocolate. * Guava juice - 4 stars Freshly made, lots of texture, tasty.

Yelp
No written menu so we relied on my little Spanish and ended up with eggs, black bean sauce (enfrijoles) and stacks of corn tortillas covered with the sauce like the enchiladas they serve in New Mexico. It was just ok. I also had a cup of hot chocolate with the pan de yema. I am obsessed with the hot chocolate in Oaxaca. Consistently good. The pan was too big so I took the leftovers home.. it's a dry type of bread so it's good with the chocolate. Our total bill including 2 bottles of water was US $5.
