20 Cinematic Spots in Italy Worthy of a Fellini Film

"After a severe drought hit the city of Treviso in 1559, the mayor of the Republic of Venice ordered the construction of a marble fountain depicting a topless woman squeezing her breasts. The final result was no ordinary statue. Every autumn, when a new Podestà (mayor) was elected, the fountain flowed with celebratory free wine. Red wine streamed from one of the woman’s breasts while white wine poured from the other. The torrent of free tipples lasted for three days, and the yearly tradition continued up until the fall of the Venetian Republic. The original statue, which was placed inside the Praetorian Palace, was damaged when the Napoleonic soldiers entered the city and shot at it because they viewed it as a symbol of the local rulers’ power. The fountain then went missing and remained lost until the end of the 19th century. A new version of the fountain was built in 1989. Sadly, it’s now water and not wine that flows from the statue’s breasts. The broken original version can be found safe within a glass case in the nearby Loggia dei Cavalieri." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Great place to visit. You can calm down here and cool.off from the City. The water that comes from the Woman s breasts ist also drinkable.

A quiet, warm feeling spread through my chest when I looked at her, but it was almost instantly followed by a subtle prickle of shame that made me look away. The warmth was pleasant, a soft pull, but the shame was a fleeting, bitter taste, a silent reprimand for having the feeling at all. It was a brief and private tug-of-war, hidden beneath a calm exterior.

Tucked away in a cute corner with a few benches and a sign explaining the history of the fountain.

The Fontana delle Tette, located in Treviso, is an ancient sculpted fountain that has a curious history. During the domination of the Republic of Venice, this fountain poured white and red wine on the occasion of particular celebrations. Its name, translated into English, means “The Fountain of Tits”. The fountain was built in 1559 on the orders of Alvise Da Ponte, mayor of Treviso, following a severe drought that hit the city and the surrounding countryside. In honor of each new Podestà ( a chief magistrate of a medieval Italian town) the fountain gushed red wine from one breast and white wine from the other. All citizens could drink for free for three days during these celebrations. The original fountain was located inside the Palazzo Pretorio, in via Calmaggiore. Today, a copy of the original sculpture is placed in the courtyard of Palazzo Zignoli, while the original is preserved under the portico of Palazzo dei Trecento. The Fountain of Tits represents a curious and fascinating piece of history, testimony to past times and unique traditions. 🍷🍇 Visited February 2024

This fountain seems to be Treviso's symbol, however I found it average. It's not easy to find as it's hidden in a back alley through a small passageway. It's literally a 3 min stop in old town Treviso

It is located in a pretty nice location. We passed it twice while searching because it is surrounded by buildings that seemed illogical, but when we turned in the right corner we saw this kind of funny statue.
