Always a 5-star experience at Fontenelle Supply Co.! Over the recent Small Business Saturday weekend in Iowa City (where they popped up at the beautiful Downtown Holiday Pop-Up Market shipping containers), I picked up new wool gloves, wool cardigan, handcrafted soap, and a Taylor Stitch third layer jacket. Since I was heading back to Iowa City for the holidays, I called the Des Moines location and asked what they would be bringing over, only to learn that if I just send them a short email of what I was looking at from their online listing, they'd happily bring items over from Des Moines. When I arrived to their pop-up shop, they had a separate box set aside from me. Their shop attendee was deeply knowledgeable and their setup inside the pop-up was well curated. From handmade leather goods and home goods products to heavy duty men's apparel and unisex items, Fontenelle is one of my favorite men's stores around. I hope one day they open a full-line brick and mortar in Iowa City.

A last minute gift idea brought me to their shop a few minutes after close. The owner, Adam, graciously worked with me and helped me pick out what I was looking for, even though they were closed. Top notch. Everyone down there is always super professional and friendly. Thanks for the generosity! P.S. The gift was a big hit and it rocked his socks off. Cheers!

This is a great shop. I bought a leather jacket from them and took it home only to realize that I had bought a size too big. They ordered the next size down for me and let me trade it out. The owner and the clerk were both friendly and helpful. I am a loyal customer.

I've purchased a few items from Fontenelle before. Great shop, great people. I had an uncommon request for them the other month – I needed a new leather strap for the back of my baseball hat. I knew they made custom leather belts as well as other leather goods & asked if they could repair/replace my strap. They said "for sure." They had it replaced with a new, better piece of leather in about 15 minutes & charged me about half of what a new cap would cost. Killer customer service. Highly recommend.

Bought a pair of jeans from them online. Had some concerns about the fit, and the gentleman talked me through everything in a clear, personable, no b.s. way. Reasonably priced, high quality goods from knowledgeable humans. What more could you want?

All fine and polite service....until you need to return. Read the fine print - not many stores won't accept returns anymore. You can get store credit, but many of their items are quite expensive and if you don't want anything else you may be out a good bit of money.

Any time I've been in Des Moines the last couple years, I've made it a point to stop in at Fontenelle Supply Co. in the East Village area. I swear that I'm walking into a Portland Oregon shop (like Tanner or Machus) when I see the unique collection of leather goods, outdoor accessories (like Filson) and associated fashion (like waxed jeans from Red Clouds Collective of Portland). It's fun to look around and imagine the possibilities. They have their own leather shop in the back and they will do custom orders. I asked that take one of their passport holder designs and add a "flap and snap" feature to keep it all together better. That was done, mailed, and in my hands within a couple weeks.

Top notch. Aesthetically satisfying, good quality merchandise. Love the location. They're expanding to Omaha soon, too. The sweet dog named Mabel that came from behind the counter to gently greet me at the door made me happy.

I have never been to fashionable, in fact when I play dress up I feel like I'm in a costume! But I do like nice stuff, and I love the Ebbets Field Collection stuff and Fontenelle is the only spot in town who is creating Des Moines specific Ebbets Field stuff! I picked up one of their DSM hats recently! Totally cool hat. I don't think I can really pull it off, but they look great on other people! Maybe I'm just self conscious about buying a 50 dollar hat.. I probably don't deserve it. And I just look goofy in hats. But trust me it's nice and so it all the other stuff Fontenelle is doing.. Cool leather goods, hand made and beautiful! Give this shop a stop in, perfect for that hard to find dude on your Christmas list!

Again every time I go to these guys are there to help and create what I need even if they don't have it. Great group of people. More people need to get into the store and see the awesome things that they have.

Love Fontenelle. Coolest shop in Des Moines and the easiest place to by gifts for any guy in your life. Also, the owners are always in there and are happy to do almost whatever you throw at them in regards to custom leather work. Stop in sometime and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

It's as good as it gets for goods and exceptional service. Highest quality men's clothing (ex: Filson, Freenote, Taylor Stitch) and accessories. They sharpen axes, make custom leather gear and will offer a thirsty man and his dog a whiskey. Think Badowers but manlier.

It's targeted to rugged burly men who like leathery stuff, and that does not fit my description but I went here anyway. I bought the comfiest coziest baller plaid jacket that basically got me through this snowmeiser demon winter and for that bless you nice dudes for selling such top notch stuff.

Super dope shop with tons of great quality cloths and excellent customer service. Popped in kinda randomly while my family was walking around the Capitol building and was pleasantly surprised to find a shop that was like something I'd see at home (visiting from San Jose). I would definitely stop by again next time I'm in town.

The service at Fontenelle Supply Company is the best! I recently bought a small leather journal for my son at a shop around the corner from Fontenelle, and when I asked them about personalizing it, such as a monogram, they suggested the Fontenelle store. It was serendipity that connected me to Andrew who designed the coolest seal incorporating my son's NASA career and his love of J.R.R. Tolkien, to Adam who went above and beyond to get the final seal made, stamped, and personally in my hands in time for my son's 25th birthday. I will be going back to this East Village store to purchase more unique, well-made gifts with superior, fun, and friendly service!
